Just tried this little gem of a place and it was wonderful! I dont live in the Boston area but occasionally come in for work and discovered this via Google. Wonderfully crafted menu with big donuts, decadent muffins, bagels, sandwiches, on and on and on! Great bang for your buck and way better than the big chains in my humble opinion! Super friendly staff (talk about treating the customer as a valued patron!), quaint, and just kind of perfect!! Oh also, as other reviews have mentioned, it is cash or Venmo only. Make sure to tip them well!!

A sweet little old fashion donut shop, Gail Anns is a decent choice for a yeast donut, particularly if you go for a simple glazed or frosted variety. The cake donuts were not worth the calories.

I’m a donut fiend and let me tell you, these are amazing. I got the little donut holes - chocolate coconut, chocolate with sprinkles, and plain with sprinkles - SO GOOD! I loved in Arlington for almost 2 years before discovering this little hole in the wall gem. I got an apple cinnamon muffin for my boyfriend and it was huge and delicious (according to him).

Had a great breakfast here with friends! Outdoor dining was lovely as well.

This place has better coffee at half the price and the most amazing pastries - just good ol fashioned, sugary, delicious doughnuts. Completely unlike Vernas down the street and IMO much better than Vernas. I always grab a chocolate cruller when Im in the area.

I only bought a jelly donut, a spinach & feta pastry, and a smoothie here, but they were all delicious, and the size of the donuts are significantly larger than, say, Dunkin Donuts. The spinach & feta pastry was amazing--really creamy filling with buttery, croissant-like bread. There staff is also very friendly and helpful.

Great service seems family owned and operated for over 15 years. Small wonderful coffee shop, great vibe and like the environment. Keep in mind no bathrooms so right next door is a place and this is a cash only coffee shop. Enjoy Blueberry scone, just like we did.

Whether you are a regular local or a first time visitor you get a friendly greeting and a tasty array of donuts and pastries. The breakfast sandwiches are also good, and the quality of all the food is definitely head and shoulders above that ubiquitous coffee and donut chain.

This place is a real gem. Ordered a donut with a cup of tea—the donut was one of the best I’ve had in awhile. The shop itself is cozy and down to earth. Lastly, the people who work there are extremely kind and generous. I left my charger behind before leaving town, and they went through the trouble of mailing it to me without accepting compensation for shipping. I highly recommend this cafe!

This is the place to get coffee and donuts in Arlington. All the rest of the places dont have donuts, they have sad bread that wishes it was from Gail Anns. The coffee rolls are the size of your head.

Classic, the only real donut place since vernas in north cambridge closed.

I went in to try two donuts because I was in the area, I ended up leaving with six donuts. When I walked up to the counter the donuts looked so big and fluffy and delicious I wanted to try them all. The flavors did not disappoint. I will be making the trip to visit this place again to try their other donuts and pastries. The people were friendly and the place is old-school.

I read that Gail Anns were friendly folks, but walking me to the corner to help me insert my bank card into the bank portico so that I could extract cash (Gail Anns is cash only) from the ATM was over and beyond. Also, the people at work called these donuts SERIOUS. Dont trek outside Arlington, Fancy Donut People. They are in your back yard. And they are very, VERY nice.

I was a resident of the town back in the day, when they first opened years ago, back when there WAS a Gail Ann. Was excellent then, still excellent now.

Some if the best donuts I have ever had! They are big and flavorful. Not the tiny donuts you get from Dunkin donuts. The coffee is also really good. The staff is friendly and very helpful. It is cash only.

Love this place. Its right across from my place of work so I come here all the time. The prices are sweet, and the food consistently has that home-cooked feel. I like the couple that rus the place, theyre sweet. Go for the twists, theyre a total snag. I dont even drink coffee and I love coming here.

This seems to be a favorite of locals and old timers, but I wasnt overly impressed. The negatives in my book were that the egg sandwich was microwaved and they dont take credit card. Food wise, maybe their doughnuts are the thing to get?

After a few too many Dunkin and Starbucks runs, this is a great place to remind yourself of what not only amazing donuts are supposed to be, but how much better a cup of coffee tastes when delivered with a smile and kind conversation.

Small, local storefront. Popular spot, can be somewhat crowded. Cash only and sandwiches are microwaved, so theres room for improvement. Staff is very friendly. Doughnuts are a great value. I dont recommend doughnut sticks, however, as they tend to be a bit bread-y.

Three bucks CAN buy happiness. Tasty donuts have become pretty rare, dont know why (anybody?). These guys cook them right: crusty, spicy and a little greasy. Their coffee is Kahvé brand - nice. AND you can practice your Greek comprehension if you want. Plus, you get to walk past a Starbucks.

Coffee was extremely lack luster. Its just standard drip brew coffee. Dont expect espresso or anything high brow coffee-wise. The doughnuts, however, are delish.

Average donuts at best but truly underwhelming service. Ive tried multiple times and each time seems to get someone who seems annoyed to have to take my food/coffee order.

This place is such an awesome doughnut shop (they serve other things but I come here for the doughnuts) that Ive actually used it in arguments about future house purchases. Now with full disclaimer there are several other doughnut shops that I like more and Im not a huge fan of their coffee, but the ladies who work in the morning are so friendly, the doughnuts are such good homemade quality, and the place is so authentic that Im here several days a week regardless.
