I’ve been here twice for miscellaneous services and am always in and out quick. Ed is extremely friendly and welcoming. I plan to continue taking my car here.
Quick and good quality service. Friendly staff and professional, knowledgeable mechanics. Reasonable prices. I would definitely recommend it.
We just needed someone to check our tires and fill them up. The only complaint I have is absolutely none of the employees were wearing masks even when we went in to ask them if they could do it. It is not appropriate, especially when indoors with a customer, or any interaction with a customer, to not be wearing a mask. Otherwise, the service itself was good.
Minor jobs only. Don’t go there if you have serious mechanical issues. They overcharge too; shoddy billing. Watch out!
I called to see if they could put my tags on. Ed was very polite & said he would which normally places wouldnt charge for. Went ahead & got my emissions & safety inspection done which I was told would be $45 for both. Also asked of they could just top off the air which MOST auto places would do as a courtesy for free. I go to pay my bill and he says I owe them like $70 dollars. I asked him why it was so expensive and I thought you said $45. He charged me EXTRA money and LABOR just to top off air in my tires & unscrew old tags & put NEW tags on which he failed to tell me they CHARGED for as well which is ridiculous since MOST EVERY auto place would do COMPLIMENTARY!!!! This place nickles & dimes for EVERYTHING. Will NEVER go there again and I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!
Thanks to owner Ed and his team for fixing the damages to the side of my car. I was quoted a reasonable price (the lowest of the three shops I visited in the Arlington area), and they finished the work in the time specified. Do support this family owned business. Its also my wifes favorite gas station.
Just started going recently. Seems like good work and good prices. Advice - find out how long work will take since I don’t think they do appointments. The guy is nice. However and a big however is that with COVID I’m not sure whether to return. The main guy and woman in the small office seem to consider masks as an afterthought if at all. When he did pull on a mask it was just a thin gator. But the vast majority of the time wore no masks putting me at risk. It doesn’t do any good to put them on momentarily when you’ve been breathing in a small unventilated space. I hope they improve this and wear good masks and wear them correctly. For their health and their customers. I suggest keeping their floor fan on and door open as well.
Love this place they are honest and clear, the mechanic showed me what break pads are supposed to look like and then showed me my breaks- no unnecessary repairs or pushing for services. I trust this place with my car any day. Also they are not expensive.
This repair shop always charge extra and did very bad job
I brought my Lexus in because I had called and was told they do body repair. I needed my bumper and fog light repaired. I was told it was ready for pick up Thursday and to come anytime. I came Saturday and the car was not ready. The bumper was sticking out and so was the fog light chrome piece. I showed the owner and he denied anything was wrong. Then after I fought him on it he said he will fix it but to wait a couple hours. This was on a saturday my day off when I had expected to just come in and pick up my car. I ask if he will cover my uber charges to go back home and give me a discount for the unfinished work and my time. The lady at the desk said they would cover my uber costs but deflected on the discount by saying Lets get the work done first. I left and decided Id argue for it later. They said they would call me when the work was finished and they never did. I call and go back 2 hours later to find the work was still not good. The bumper was still sticking out and the chrome piece was also. The work had not been repaired so I demanded a 20% discount for my time and unfinished work. He fought me on this for 40 minutes. Eventually he agreed to the discount but refused to cover my uber charges. They claimed I was trying to take advantage of them when I was simply coming in to get my car fixed. Shady owner- shady business practices. Beware.
See Ed hell solve the problem.
I was initially skeptical because the lady who works at the desk is really rude. The radio was on so loud that I couldn’t hear anything she was saying and I kept asking her to repeat herself and turn it down. She also wasn’t wearing a mask so I was standing as far away as possible. I explained that I didn’t want anyone in my vehicle, and she didn’t think it was possible but Ed (who inspected the car) was FANTASTIC and made it work. I sat in my car while he gave me directions for the interior inspection. No wait, in and out in under 10 minutes. I never felt swindled into paying for unnecessary work. I love to support a small business when I can!
After having several car service places lie to me with bogus excuses why they couldnt do my inspection just for the sake of wanting to leave early since Saturday, I am touched and extremely grateful that you took my car in and serviced it in the last hour of closing. Youve completely won me over. Ill be coming over frequently to service my car with you guys.
While I feel for the shop owners many impairments, he served yesterday as an example of how to NEVER treat anyone, customer or otherwise. I returned a faulty Interstate battery that was still under the early part of its warranty. The owner stated that the battery was defective and would replace it but also charge me $45 labor. I felt as if I was being held hostage at that point. I had to interrupt the owners non-stop, deafening private phone conversation in order to pay the bill. When I requested further information about the battery, he began irrationally yelling at me saying that I had obviously abused the battery. I couldnt help but wonder if I had abused it emotionally or physically, and should I worry about being reported to the Battery Protective Services.Ive owned three previous Interstate batteries and gotten 5-6 years out of each without incident. I purchased from this location solely because they were the only place that had one the day I needed it. In order for the warranty to be honored, I had to return to the place of purchase. Should this battery turn out to be a dud too, Ill bring my own tool box and some earplugs. Hopefully I will never have set foot in this smelly, loud poor excuse of a business again.
No price transparency. The owner got angry for not buying car parts from him. So he charged me higher price for installation than the market average in the area. I still did it because he gave me a rejection for safety inspection. Moreover, I dropped my car in the morning and he asked me to come back around 12. I actually came 1 hour later at 1 pm but kept me waiting till 3 pm. No intend to visit again.
Quick and easy to complete my emissions inspection! In and out in 10 minutes.$28 for emissions inspection, $25 for safety inspection.
One of their wrench-jocks filled the wrong fluid in my differential, which exploded a few weeks later. Not a great place to bring any relatively recent car from the past 5-7 years.
Oil change + tire rotation + safety inspection cost $100. More expensive than what I expected. I also had to wait a long time for my invoice/receipt.
I call them up for the price check, I try to explain my car situation and the guy on the other line extremely rude. He tell me if I know the problem already go fix myself and hang off the phone
Quick inspectionNo complaints
Best car services and cheaper gas price in the area and good quality as well
I received exceptional service here. They were quick and went above and beyond for my repair! The staff is also very friendly and the price was reasonable. Highly recommend!
Good, quick advice. I went in for a pre-purchase inspection. Ed gave the car a thumbs up, but also diagnosed a small problem Im now able to take to the dealer under warranty. He took my car w/out an appointment, worked on it while I waited and charged what he quoted over the phone. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere. I would go back.
Ive known the family that owns the business for years and can say they are very honest and hard working people. Ive referred friends and family there and all have been satisfied with their services from small jobs to large. Ed is straightforward and will always try to get you a fair deal. Highly recommend!
Fantastic service! Used there services recently and feel like I found a solid mechanic in my neighborhood that I can rely on!
Very professional and quick service. I called in and was quoted a price. When I picked the car up, the person working the register informed me my car actually required far more work, and should have been more expensive, but they honored the quoted price nonetheless. Will absolutely go back for future service.
Ed did what others said could not be done. I have a vintage 91 Honda Civic with a superb engine and only 90k miles of wear. Its a great car that Ive driven since 1999. My DC mechanic told me never give up your Civic. But I started to panic when a hinge on the hatchback broke as well as a hood hinge. Could not find replacement parts anywhere after 3 superb mechanics had no advice except to scour the internet for parts. No luck. Then Ed said, do you want to try welding? He brought in his guy and both problems are solved. As Ed says, dont consult a mechanic about body work. Ill be tooling around in my red Felix for a few more years.
The staff here are really friendly and professional. Ed, the owner, prioritizes great service and committed to assisting me with my car needs. I highly recommend this place - their prices are fair and they are very attentive.
Ive brought my car in here for repairs 3 times. The service is good, but can be a bit pricey. I believe in getting to know your mechanic, so this mom and pop shop is the place for me. Ed and his wife are very friendly and patient with questions. If youre going to go for a repair shop in the area (and theyre quite a few options) go for this one!
Great place to actually get your car inspected. Unlike some places barely even look at your car. All I got to say is they will actually look and find the problems of there is one.
Not a good place. Poor quality
Great work, great value, and much faster than expected!!Got an estimate to replace a headlight. I was told that the job may take up to 3 hours, because they had to order the part. It was done in under 20 minutes. Big time saver!
Ive been here twice, and both times I left without service because of the prices they quoted me. The first was for a catalytic converter repair, which they wanted over double what another shop quoted. They also upcharge labor 30% when you buy parts from another supplier, so I can only assume there is some hidden cost in the parts you buy through them.A few weeks later, I needed bolts to mount a license plate, and they offered to charge me $15 to install the license plate. Ive never heard of such a thing.I wont do business here except to get gas - their gas prices are lower than several of the surrounding stations.
Had an AWESOME experience at Japanese Auto Services!!! I went to a few other locations first that were horrendous, rude, and pricey. Then Japanese Auto Services fixed my car for 400$ cheaper than the other places!! The work they did was awesome, it was done on time and they were such nice people who broke down exactly what needed to be fixed on my car and how much it would cost. Ive recommended this place to many friends!!!!!
Fine gas station and auto repair shop. Never had work done here, only got gas. Tried to get an inspection done but they refused to take my work credit card for the state inspection so I had to go elsewhere.
Great service! Ive been coming here for 2 years for Emissions & Safety Inspections - always quick & friendly service! Keep it up!
Extremely unprofessional and Greedy. Never again!
I have only had great experiences at Japanese Auto Services. My roommate had backed into my driver side door and had left a large dent. An original estimate was around $1250, Japanese Auto Services did it for $750 and did fantastic work.A few days ago I needed my annual safety inspection. Unfortunately I went to Pham’s Auto instead because I had put $1300 in it there last year, and driving the car less than 1500 miles in the last year, I figured it would be an easy pass. I got a call an hour later saying there were three issues, the estimates for the work necessary would be AT LEAST $750. Extremely angry, I drove over to Japanese Auto Services for a second opinion. They immediately put the car on the lift and said the Pham’s diagnosis was ridiculous. One new (used) wheel later ($50), I was approved. The shop doesn’t look like much, but they are extremely friendly, do great work, and charge very reasonable fees. I’m an extremely cynical person, especially when it comes to mechanics, but in my interactions with the owner, it seems that his main philosophy is to not screw people over. I think I actually believe him.I highly recommend Japanese Auto Services for all work possible
Unauthorized work showed up on my invoice. Came in for safety inspection. Was told that brakes needed to be replaced which I okd before work was done. When I came in to pay, there were additional charges for headlight restoration. When I pointed this out the Owners wife shrugged and said the work was already done. The work looked good and I may have paid for it but should have been informed and agreed upon the work before I was invoiced for it.
Terrible attitudes and services. Simply don’t go. Even for an inspection.
I come in for my vehicle inspection, the wait is not to long if you get here early or come in afternoon good place for me .
I get my scooter inspected here and they take my waste oil for a small fee when I do my own oil changes. Each time they were quick and convenient to deal with.
I was so disappointed that they promised different product/brand and price but delivered poor quality product and charged more than they initially promised. Very unreliable and sketchy place with poor customer service.
The service and pricing was fine. Its a convenient location
Lady in the office adds on unnecessary charges, $15 for a quart of oil.
I had an accident and there was a damage to my cars front bumber, also the left head light and the indicator got broken. I wanted to get the required repair done for the car. I went to a body shop in Arlington and they gave a estimated cost of $1800 . On the way back I found this Japanese Auto Service and I just wanted to see how much it going to cost here. These guys gave an estimate of $600. I gave the car and the called me after 24hours. They did a nice work and I am very happy as I could get the repair done with just $600 instead of $1800. These guys are very nice. Thanks for their work.
I have taken a few of my cars here for inspection, repairs and basic maintenance. I highly recommend!
Was given a price for an exhaust pipe replacement that was slightly less than the other places that I got prices from. When I went to pick my car up, I was told that they forgot to charge me for a part so they made me pay an extra $300, which was significantly more expensive than the other prices. Go somewhere else, this place sucks.
Promised me Id have my inspection and be out by 2 (came in at 12) and he just left me sitting there till 2 rolled around and my car hadnt been moved. It wasnt even that busy! They lied to get my money. After failing me for scraped rubber on a tire he told me he wouldnt fail me due to having having 3 weeks left on my inspection sticker. He charged me for the inspection and he would give me sticker once I replaced tire.I replaced tire and have been back twice only to tell me instead of just seeing I fixed the tire and giving me a sticker, I have to wait through the line all over again. Which is estimated 30 mins a car. I will never go back here and not sure why people deal with them. Rude and unprofessional.
Very honest people. Great mechanics.
Hit or miss. Normally theyre good. Id not say they are dishonest but I would say that they err on the side of worrying about themselves more than the customers and the quality of their work is... well... just ok.I am an aircraft mechanic in a former life and there are somethings that are unmistakably poor quality practices - you dont install a performance sway-bar with polyurethane bushings WITHOUT lubing it... my car squeaked until it worked its self slick i presume... took weeks. That is but one example of two that i have. Two strikes and theyre out for me.
Dishonest:Went to get a safety inspection, was told a light was out and that a special tool was required to replace it.I watched as the mechanic took a screw driver and pried open the compartment to replace a working light bulb. With that kind of dishonesty on such a small scale, what is to stop them from replacing a really expensive broken part?
Good experience
Looking for a service center you can actually TRUST? This is the place.
The guy here is friendly but the lady at the desk is lazy and has an attitude. Takes long for just an state inspection.
I was here for Virginia state inspection. There were not many people and i was done fairly quickly.
Very honehonand fast service .
DO NOT GO THERE!!!!! They will charge you much more than you image. When I went there for safety inspection, they replaced OUT TIE RODS(both sides) which were not necessary to replace. They charged me two hours labor, but in fact they only spent less than one hour. I will never go there again.
Lied to me and cheated me. They made my brakes worse than before, and then refused to give me details on what theyd done etc., having screwed things up.
Dont go there if you place value on your money
The guy who runs this place is super sketchy and my experience here was awful. It was stressful, expensive and they didnt even fix anything. I will never to back there again and I hope you dont go either.
Fast reliable service
Nice crew
Customer service and mechanical work are fantastic! They are also very fair in cost.
They over charge you and give you cheap parts
These guys are crooks.
Pumps worked okay. I got gas, so....
Very good
