Great neighborhood hardware store. They always meet you at the door and ask if they can show you where your item is and talk through your project to make sure you are prepared. Great people!

Shop local? Avoid big box retail? That has always been my preference, and Northside has always been my preferred hardware store. However, my last two visits have been pretty sad. The last visit was painful. Highly unlikely that I will continue to drive so far out of my way to attempt to shop there.

I needed a spare set of keys for my utv and these keys are hard to come by so I ordered a set of blanks. The people there were willing to cut the keys for me even though the blanks didn’t fit their jig very good they still managed to cut the keys. Awesome customer service!!!!!!

The people here are great. Super helpful. Found me the exact match of screws and tension pins I needed in record time. Staff was masked and really friendly. Been going here for years, but I really appreciate how dedicated they seem to be during COVID. Highly recommend as a first stop for any home improvement project.

Actually went to theyard implement power store next door for small engine carb parts. They had exactly what I needed and were very helpful.

I like shopping at this store, but the one day I come in to buy some Self Tappers and some other items, one of the employees weren’t very friendly. I asked where the self tappers were and he sighed and said “oh gosh.” I did have a few more things to purchase, but the vibe I received from him made me feel not wanted so I purchased the self tappers and went elsewhere for the other items I needed. Very bad experience that day.

Ive shopped here going on 14 years and never had a problem (actually, Ive always gotten stellar service) but my recent visit to the garden center left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I came in to suppprt local and get some pots for container gardening. I grabbed several $4.99 containers and made my way to the checkout in the garden center. A heavily tattooed woman was ringing up a elderly woman and I was next in line. The cashier was friendly enough when it was my turn. My partner and I put down our 4 containers which were clearly marked and priced at $4.99. She took it upon herself to leave the register and Check the stated price on the sales floor. Why? I felt like she was implying I (we, i was with my husband) changed the tags, as you could clearly see on the containers the white tags used to price items. When we were all clear on that, I presented my credit card for payment. I was then asked for an ID to identify myself. I found it quite strange that the only two brown people in the store are forced to show ID. I was embarrassed and wondered on such a busy day at the store, was she asking everyone using a credit/debit card for ID. I think we know the answer. Im writing this because I really want to come in and get some more containers and some plants but I will not allow myself to be treated in a manner I feel is unwarranted. I love that we share a neighborhood and I hope you take this review seriously because I would love to support you in the coming years ahead.

I recently brought in a snowblower for service and was told they were out 3 to 4 weeks. I requested that they get at it as soon as possible and within 1 week they called and had it ready. They really stepped up their efforts and I got it back to get the first big snowfall cleaned. Would highly recommend them. Their staff was bent over backwards to assist me!!

Stopped in for help with a spark plug on the generator. Said we could pay $40-$50 to get to the head of the line. But couldnt help us get the spark plug out. Would not recommend this place.

We had just purchased a used snowblower and we finally got the chance to use it this pasted snowstorm, worked like a charm. My dad also takes his chainsaw here to have it maintained and northside power center has always done a great job. Highly recommend for any small engine repair and service.

After stopping at all the big box strores and finding every snow blower/thrower gone (to make room for spring stuff in the middle of a Wisco winter), we called here looking for a small snow thrower. The gentleman I spoke to was so helpful and kind. We drove over immediately to find a great selection of used and new blowers and throwers. The young man who helped us was so knowledgeable and hospitable. While we were checking out and talking with other staff, they told us they arent normally open on Sundays but opened specifically for tomorrows big storm. We were blown away by everything about this business. I think we just found our new favorite local hardware store. No more big box stores for this family. Thank you!!!!

Well the equipment didnt break down on us, so I guess thats worth something. Sent my husband to rent a tiller while I took my daughter to a lesson. Hes not a gardener - I am, but this was pretty straightforward. He specified tiller and 20x30 garden. They rented him a soil turner (goes down 4 maximum and insisted this was what he needed. By the time I got home we were on a time crunch and our 45 minutes job took 3 hours with 4 passes to even get that 4 depth. We wont mention having to spend extra for specialty gas. When I called to tell them itd be late and complain about what they sent us the guy admitted it was only a soil turner. I didnt realize the term tiller was so ambiguous! Make sure youre experienced and know exactly what you need - dont rely on them to give you any decent advice!

Its been a while since I first reviewed Northside Hardware in Appleton. As of March 2021 I no longer have the respect I use to have after I was told to use Acetone to remove a paint stain on my laminated floor. After I tried it and had NO results, I googled it and found Acetone is the main ingredient in Nail Polish Remover!!How can anything mild enough to be used on peoples fingers be strong enough to remove a stubborn paint stain!!!???Next Step: Use Bleach or Paint Thinner, or BOTH! According to Google!! NO Thanks to Northside Hardware in Appleton!!

The people in the store were very friendly and we found just what we wanted. He found his replacement wrenches and was happy they were in stock and can put his tools to work again.

I called to get info about equipment rental and after asking how what the cost was the man on the phone promptly told me. I did not even have enough time to write the amount down before he said, Is that alright? Ok, Bye. and then hung up the phone. I wanted to ask him if the dates I needed it were available but now I dont even need to. Perhaps this man has forgotten that they are not the only equipment rental business in town.

Had snowblower problems with a rather old machine. Talked to Northsides Power Center in depth about it. My sales/service guy was very knowledgeable on probable repair costs vs. machine age vs. new with a Factory warranty (without being a sales guy). It was then clear the obvious choice was to go new. My guy (Steve) asked very good questions on my use (how much driveway, walks, am I the only using it or maybe my wife, etc.). I am now the proud owner of a new Toro Snowmaster. I dont enjoy blowing snow, but now, Im kinda looking forward to it !! Ill be telling anyone who asks me where to go for their yard machines that its Northside Hardwares Power Center !!

DO NOT take your snowblower here for tune-ups. VERY DISORGANIZED!! When calling to ask details about the tune-up service, was told it would take a few days. Called them after they hadnt returned my machine for over a week and was told I must have talked to the wrong person, that no--it takes up to three weeks. (WHAAAT?) Eventually talked to a female over the phone after my machine was inspected, and was quoted a final price...tried to call several times to pay that bill over the phone but each time no one could find my paperwork...finally gave up and had a family member with a truck go pick up my machine -- and my bill somehow DOUBLED from what Id been quoted on the phone the day before. One additional complaint is that they never told me there was a $20 fee for them to pick up my machine in the first place--it just showed up on my final inflated bill. Would that have meant $40 round trip? Not sure--these are secrets that only they know apparently. I now have paid them almost $80 and my snowblower still doesnt work--it was beyond the need of a tuneup--so that was just for them to pick it up and assess it. I was told it would be near $300 for them to fully fix it (labor costs for belt replacement) but their quotes mean nothing...I chose to take my machine elsewhere for repairs and will not return here.
