With the help of Karl, I found the painters tape and the lamp parts I needed, and was out the door a lot faster than if I had gone to the big box place.

Well organized, very knowledgeable and friendly staff, and they can duplicate almost any key you can think of. If you need a special key for your car, please go check here before you go anywhere.

The crew at Ace Hardware on Washtenaw Ave are always helpful to not just point to where you need to go, but they will take you directly to your item. They are also wonderful about helping carry heavy bags to my car, which I always appreciate.

I went into this hardware store after several poor experiences at another local hardware store, and I was beyond impressed! I went in looking for paint and the paint I was looking for was be Sherwin Williams (touch-up paint), and an employee reached out to help. After I picked a paint, he re-approached me to make sure I picked the right one. When I showed him a photo of the can I had, which was Sherwin Williams, he mentioned how all paints are different and theres a Sherwin Williams next door. He said he didnt want to lose my business, but he wanted to make sure I got the right paint. That level of honesty, has influenced our family to choose this business as our local hardware store of choice moving forward.When I went home and told my husband, we both agreed that we will start bringing our business to this store. Thank you for being a trustworthy local hardware store!

Knowledgeable and friendly staff made my visit quick and easy visit.

Called half hour in advance for a product they confirmed to have 2 of. Even told me they would hold the product with my name and phone number. Drove 40 minutes to this location only for the store manager to say they didn’t have the product. Couldn’t even put a bundle together even when they had the individual parts together. Complete waste of time. Avoid this dumpster fire.

Ive had good luck with the pain counter here, they sell Benjamin Moore paints & Ive had good service. The associates are friendly & knowledgeable, they do a good job mixing the paint. Plus the location is pretty good, although the parking lot can be a bit difficult to get in & out of.

I had two very positive experiences both with the same young man but I didnt catch his name. The first was using an online purchase curbside pickup for WD-40 silicone to repair my treadmill in early December 2020. The young man was helpful, friendly and very courteous when finding my product and handling the transaction. I encountered him again recently (later in Dec 2020) when I came in to purchase a carbon monoxide detector as part of a home inspection. Although I arrived at the wrong Ace therefore the store didnt have my order, he went out of his way to help me find another product in the store. This young gentleman should be given praise for his courtesy. I have been coming to Ace for 40 years as I am from town. I appreciate their hard work and their safe and helpful staff being available during the pandemic.

Convenient to get things if you want to quickly get in and out instead of going to a big box store.

A really nice ACE. Parking in front is tight and small so not sure if there are more spaces in the back. The store was well stocked and the cashier was very friendly. Plus they had plenty of salt for these wintry days.

This review is for the owner of this store. I had my vehicle towed on a lot next to Wolverine Brewing owned by mr Barnes. Triangle towing said Ted Barnes called to have it removed. There were signs on the building that said brewery parking and it was Sunday afternoon. The building owned by Ted Barnes is not even in business anymore which is further perplexing. Im sure it will be hard to spend money at a Barnes owned store knowing how Mr Barnes feels about supporting local and small businesses in Ann Arbor

Some of the rudest unhelpful people i have ever dealt with. I went in to buy my son a 200 dollar tool. Their website said they were giving a free battery with the tool. When I got in the store they said they would not match online pricing. Instead they made me order and pay for the tool and pick up while I was already there. After ordering with them watching they still would not give me the tool. They said only the battery was pick up. The tool was set to be shipped. So I had to cancel the 1st order create a second order and then finally got tool and battery. Now I have 2 charges on my PayPal. Asked them to fix that and in their usual manner NO HELP. I will never go back unless I find tool elsewhere and then I will return it just because of their rude behavior. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT THIS STORE AT ALL. Avoid if at all possible.

I purchased a mower battery from Ace Barnes. They simply placed an old display battery into a paper bag. It was 2.5 years old, and defective. I called the manufacturer and they confirmed that the batter was old, defective, and must have been a display copy since it was not in any packaging and came with no manual. When I called Ace, there was no apology of any kind, they contested that new batteries come with packaging and a manual, and reluctantly ordered a replacement battery. I was given no discount and no apology with the replacement battery. I had to drive over again to exchange the batteries. I wanted to shop locally and spent $20 more than I would have spent on Amazon, shipping included. But I will never shop at Ace Barnes ever again.

Such great service here! I am embarrassed to admit that I usually have no idea what Im doing in a hardware store, but determined to fix things myself. Yesterday it was a 15-cent screw for my garage door opener (which I have been reassembling a couple times/day for weeks, usually while in my car trying to get in). It doesnt matter how small the job is, they always help me, theyre always kind, and theyre always right about the part I need.

Always a pleasant experience shopping @ Ace Barnes Hardware. Employees are knowledgeable & freindly and the store is well stocked. I prefer to shop @ this smaller, locally owned store as opposed to the big box choices.

I always have a great experience here. Friendly, knowledgeable staff and a great selection of stuff to meet my needs. Today Karl really went above and beyond for me. I needed to change my license plate, but the screws holding my old plate on were all rusted up and immovable. Karl identified the right product to break up the rust, unscrewed the rusted screws and installed my new license plate for me, all without me asking. Truly above and beyond service - can’t recommend this store enough!

I love this place. The employees are so helpful; especially the paint woman. They have a million, or so it seems, different items in that small space. It is always tidy, clean and well organized. The variety of products is incredible. The one on Staduim has even more variety but this one has the better small-town experience so I prefer here. I discovered a lavender air freshener here that I have been purchasing at Target, it is $2 LESS here than Target! Plus they have the Ace Rewards program so I get $5 and $10 coupons every other month or so.Highly recommend.

Staff is extremely knowledgeable, helpful and simple nice!They have a very good inventory, their pricing is comparable to the bigger Home improvement stores... But their staff really make it my favorites place in Ann Arbor.

I really enjoy shopping at Ace Hardware. Some things are a little higher than some of the bigger chains. But you can get in get quick help and get out without walking to a football field. I give them four stars

The employees here have been very friendly and helpful every time I have been in. They see knowledgeable and competent, so you wont need to spend a bunch of time waiting around. My only complaint with this location is that the parking lot is awfully small and hard to get in and out of. Not something to remove a star over though.

I ordered a key online because Lowes didnt have it in stock. I took it to Lowes to have cut and the refused because I didnt buy it there, after I was stuck standing there waiting at the Key counter for 10 minutes. I took it to this Ace and they cut it for free and were fast and friendly. They even had the right in stock and still took care of it for me! Great store with friendly staff. Highly Recommend!

Good neighborhood type hardware store. Staff is helpful and knowledgeable. The store is not big box in proportions so they dont have the same breadth of inventory as a large home improvement chain store, but they have what most household repair and maintenance jobs require. They carry quality products at fair prices. This store and its sister location both have extensive outdoor grilling departments that are fun solely for their variety, but also are a great place to get grilling, barbecuing and food smoking gear and supplies.

Love the employees. Everytime I go in there super helpful and find what I need. This place has alot of variety of seeds. Im a home gardener and I love being able to grow so many different vegetables at a cheap price.Most seed pack are less than 2.50. I highly recommend.

Found exactly what i needed! Small hinges, and closures for some wood boxes for myself, and my son bought a couple Christmas gifts. The people who work there, are the friendliest, and happiest Ive ever seen in a store before! My son and I both got what we wanted, and left there laughing. Thanks Ace, well be back again for sure!

I always get my Benjamin Moore paint here. Good local store that has everything. Prices are competitive. The location on Stadium is a 5-star. This one is great, but 4.5 stars due to size.

We have been going to Ace Barnes since Noah wore a raincoat. This is our go to store for house and garden items based on a long history of success. the staff is cheerful, friendly and gives you space when you need it. fun place to browse for gifts for others. there is always someone there who has answers to home-need questions. too bad more stores are not like this one.

I generally do like ACE hardware. As usual they had the tool I needed. 1/2 breaker bar which allowed me to move the belt tensioner and get the serp belt back on and my truck back on the road. I was far from home, where I have 4 different leights of breaker bars. They let me return it. I will say I didnt put a mark or grease on it. Nevertheless ACE has a loyal customer in me.
