Great place for Tacos (5/5). While they have many items on the menu, I think the best experience to be had is with their Tacos, specially the pork one. Must try if all youre looking for are juicy, flavourful and warm corn tortilla tacos. I also tried Tamales but they were okay, but cant speak for anything else on the menu.
Dont go here unless you expect your food to take 3x longer than expected. Oh my lord, ordering to go from here was potentially the worst experience Ive ever had ordering food. First I tried to order online, and the system took over 5 minutes to process the order when I submitted it, and then proceeded to tell me it didnt go through. So I called and ordered over the phone. They told me it would be 20 minutes. It took over AN HOUR for the food to be ready, and over the course of that hour they had to ask me 3 different times about my order to clarify what it was. It seems that they didnt even understand which order was mine. When it was done, they didnt even tell me even as I was STANDING THERE FOR 10 MINUTES, and then proceeded to still be confused about what my order was. I dont care how long my order takes, but dont tell me 20 minutes when it will take over an hour, and then completely mess the order up. They didnt even give us the correct sides, Im amazed that this place can even operate with their lack of competency. The food is authentic and delicious and easily worth 5 stars, but when they mess up as much as they did with my order the quality of the food is inconsequential.
Extremely good. The Tamales are just incredible, products are fresh and personnel is extremely nice. The real cantina experience. Just skip all the fast food around and go there
I gave 1 star because it wouldnt allow me to chose anything less. Id been told how good this place is and finally decided to try it. I placed an order through doordash and called the restaurant to make a special request for 1 of my orders. We both repeated my request several times and it was clear....so I thought...my request was to have just steak and cheese on 2 of the 5 tacos...when it arrived all 5 were that way...and all the tacos ordered were full of nothing but FAT! I called to try to rectify the situation and was told its because theyre busy they couldnt take the time out to get the order right or remove the fat. The tacos were disgusting and not edible. Oh yeah we ordered 1 coke and 1 sprite...they said they were too busy to call and give us our own choice of pop because they were out of Sprite and chose to send 2 cokes.... At the end of the day...This place is more concerned with quantity over quality. NEVER again!
This place has some of the best tacos Ive ever had. They also have a nice variety of vegetarian options which I always appreciate.
Tonight was the first time Ive been here and I cannot even put into words how amazing my food is! I cant stop eating, its absolutely delicious! Online ordering was incredibly easy, I drove straight there after my order was placed and my food was waiting for me, fresh and perfect! I The cook behind the counter was very friendly and I was in and out in no time. Definitely made sure I tipped! I got the enchiladas meal and 3 papusas and everything is beyond delicious, I WILL beback and Im sending more your way!!**EDITED TO ADD**I returned, less than 24hrs after my first order, because it was SO DELICIOUS that I needed more! Tmaz was the only thing I wanted when it came to dinnertime! Yet again, absolutely thrilled!
Have had this place twice, first time pork tacos meat was underseasoned.Second time got three tacos pork, rice and beans. The rice is like white rice with veggies? Not was I was expecting compared to traditional rice, was really good. The beans were also equally as good. Pork is dry.
Wow, some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Delicious, balanced flavors with no flavor over powering others. I haven’t yet ordered anything off the menu that I regretted. Marinates are savory and spicy, veggies are fresh, and the sauces are indescribable. They add everything you didn’t know your tacos or papusas needed.
OMG THIS PLACE HAS THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD EVER! Ordered beef soup and two taco meal, both fantastic. The beef is extremely tender in the soup, and the taco is juicy and full of flavor too. I also used the $10 off coupon from groupon, making this a real steal!
Changed from 3 stars to 4 because the tortas are AMAZING! The rest was ok even though there are lots of good options. Good corn tortillas. The pinto beans were interesting (spicy with hotdogs and pieces of tomato). I am not sure if the black bean option is also spicy or not. The rice is classic. Good seating options. Have high chairs for kids.
Incredible food and good service every time Ive come here. The mushroom and veggie tacos are to die for 🤤🤤🤤
Ordered $30 worth of food for pickup at 9:10 pm on a Thursday night when they claimed to be open to 11 pm. Drove 15 minutes on snowy roads just to get there and them have all of their lights off. Tried calling 3-4 times but no answer and saw a couple other people show up and look around. Now Im out $30 and have no food for the night. Ill definitely be taking my business elsewhere.
Last minute ordered this on the way home from the movies. Felt somewhat bad for such a late order and walking in just a little after ordering but The staff were so nice and welcoming. The food was amazing! The guac is so fresh and really good. I got the taco and enchilada meal. Sooo much food for such a small price I was shocked when I got home. The tacos were hands down some of the best I’ve had in Ann Arbor and the enchiladas also. Such good food, such a good staff, I 100% recommend trying this place out and loving it also! The prices for the amount of food is amazing! I can’t express enough how good the food was also!
GREAT churascitos, the tortas are on homemade bread, the ice cream was tasty, and the extra sauce is great at home.Very happy, weve only been here once though.
Very comfortable chill atmosphere with delicious quality tacos and tostadas. Will definitelu return
Excellent food, fast service and good prices. Our most recent lunch was delicious. The caldo de res (beef soup) was amazing, with rich broth generous portions of beef falling of the bone, and lots of veggies too.We also ordered some tamales which were very tasty. Only one mistake: ordered pork tamales and got chicken. In the end they were pretty amazing, so not a big deal.Note: food comes in plastic and foam containers; we put stuff on plates at home. They have outdoor seating, too.
I get chips with pico and veggie tacos from here every week and theyre ALWAYS FIRE. Super friendly staff. Highly recommend
Great food and people! Ceiling tiles need replacing but I will be back.
We moved to Michigan 7 years ago and this is the first time we have had authentic Mexican food - AMAZING!!!!
Loved the food!!!! This is a total old-school authentic little joint and I was super happy with my order. I got the pupusas and my friend got enchiladas and they were totally delicious. I didnt plan on eating the whole thing at once but I couldnt stop myself, it was so good. Very authentic and I had good vibes when I walked in to pick up my order and noticed everyone in there was speaking Spanish and seemed to be friends. The only hitch was that I ordered online and when I came to pick it up it wasnt ready, I guess the tech didnt update on time or it got missed or something--but it didnt really matter honestly, once they pulled up the order they had it ready in a matter of minutes and were cool about it, and it was 100% worth waiting a couple of extra minutes. I dont know if this happens often but if for some reason it does, just be patient, its completely worth it. Ive only been once, last night, so I dont know how it is when you just walk in, but they seemed to move fast and make sure everything was put together to the customers specifications when I saw someone else ordering. Overall, really loved this place and I definitely plan to go back.
Never saw this little place here on the side and coming from monroe I love to try local food. Wow oh wow these tacos were so good. The steak was juicy and the flavors come bursting out with the lime, cilantro and onions. Everything is scratch made and the staff is friendly. I may live 40 minutes but I may have found my new Mexican place. You may not remember me. But I was in the purple shirt for doordash. I had to let my friend try the taco and she loved it. First words.. were coming back
Super authentic no frills Mexican and Salvadoran food. Great value, fresh ingredients, home made salsa. Forget Taco Bell and support this local eatery!
Really wanted to like this place. Ordered $30 with of food and there was almost no meat. Like Barely . Very disappointed 😢
Best tacos in Washtenaw county!
Very good food, and very friendly people. Their tacos is amazing !!
Just had my first meal here tonight! Gorditos Dinner w. black beans and rice. Exceeded my expectations thank you! Ill be back :)
A taqueria’s food is only as good as its rice. And believe me when I say that TMaz has good rice. Best enchiladas around. I will continue to patronize this fine establishment. -Andy
Only place Ive been to that has Pupusas! Great food!
I cannot fully describe the force with which the food at Tmaz brought me back to life. This place has it all.You walk in to an unassuming space with the kind of loved in mismatched furniture that tells you this place is gonna be good.Ordering your food can be somewhat of a wait, as its done in the same fast food style as other taquerias. Its well worth it though. All items are a la cart, because the owners are savvy af. I got the quesadilla with chorizo, two tacos de carne asada y fried pork. They come with standard embellishments (cilantro, lime, onion, and hot sauce) and any added fixings are $0.25 a pop. All their prepared sides looked amazing, but I substituted for a bag of the worlds most loved and then regretted chips: Takis Fuego. If this wasnt enough, I glanced over to their dessert display and was aghast to see not one, but two flavors of Tres Leches™ Cake, in vanilla and chocolate. Theyre definitely big enough pieces to share, but moist enough that you wont want to.Before I could even pay for my food I locked eyes with the row of Sidral Mundet apple pops, and of course got two. When I finally carried my tray of food from the counter to my high top seat and began taking selfies, I realized a row of piñatas hung behind me and decided to officially move into this place. This before I saw the familiar racked trays of pan dulce and other Mexican sweets lining the center of one of the seating rooms.Overall, I think this restaurant added 3 years to my expected life span so it goes without saying that I thought it was okay. Jplay, it changed my life.10/10 would recommend
The pork tacos are amazing
You can tell this place has to cater to uncultured folks that cant handle authentic spice. Its still very good and comparable in quality in SW Detroit.Definitely top in the 2 for best black beans Ive ever had.
Awesome food. Overpriced tacos.
We ordered from here for work today. I had what is basically a Torta with sauce on the outside - the Ahogada. My avocado was overripe/brown in some spots. The sauce really didnt have flavor. The Lechon didnt have much flavor. Kinda disappointed, Ive been craving a flavorful torta.
Best tacos and enchiladas.
Great food, couldnt take a photo because it smelled too good to waste a second to not eat it. I definitely recommend going here. A lot of parking and open late (compared to other Ann Arbor restaurants).
WOW!! We had the tamales and enchiladas they were amazing!!! Had a side order pupusas! The flavor was surprisingly delicious in the pickle slaw. We will be going back for sure!
Delicious. Great service
Good food just not the style of mexican food I was hoping for.
Very quick, very friendly, very delicious!
Great food and great service. I just felt bad for the amazing man behind the counter. We came in after 10pm and he had been working since 4am many days in a row. I hope he gets a day off soon! But the food was great... Ill be back for sure!
Excellent food! Highly recommend pupusas of any flavor. Never had one before and was delicious
Not too busy great food friendly people bilingual menu and staff come here every chance I get!
Fantastic. Every item—tacos, rice, beans—was uniquely flavorful and delicious.
I was looking for Mexican food in the area, so I searched the internet. When I went to the site, nothing the reviews say is true. This food is not Mexican and they dont have good service either. I ordered some gorditas de chicharon and chorizo, but they gave me meat. The meat was dry and they added more salad than meat. The place was very dirty and not cleaned. It was my first and last time and I do not recommend anyone.
I’ve been going here for a few months & after trying just about every place that sells tacos in Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor this one is definitely my favorite. The employees are very sweet & have always gone out their way to make sure I’ve gotten what I needed.
I’m so shocked to see that this place does not have more bad reviews, the food is just atrocious save your money!!! Very disappointed
Amazing Taco Joint. They also have really good Pupusas. Atmosphere is great. Restaurant set up is a little funny but the flavors are so good the staff is very friendly. Decent size lines form for lunch but they churn through it pretty well. If you are looking for a good authentic Mexican Taco, I havent found better.
Authentic Mexican hole-in-the-wall treasure. Insanely affordable, customizable, tasty, authentic, wide menu options, casual, with courteous and informative staff. My Dad and I went back for seconds! Dont be deceived by some of these harsh reviews. Its a very casual diner when you walk in; You walk up to the counter and place your order, then pay at the end. Give it a shot!
Damn this place hit the spot! Was craving authentic Mexican and they got it right! Just like the trucks in Detroit. The guy that took care of us was great, super patient even tho they were closing soon, helped us out with vegetarian choices. Great stuff
FANTASTIC place to grab lunch, dinner, or take-out. Authentic flavors and dishes and the friendly staff make the experience enjoyable every time, and the food is quite affordable. There are so many places to try Mexican food in Ann Arbor, its tough to pick one. As far as quality of food, taste, cost, and the staff, I think this is the best one in Ann Arbor. The menu is not large, but there are many fillings to choose from, and the place has a hometown-feel to it. They even have avocado ice-cream bars!
The BEST tamales! Authentic Mexican food in a diner like setting - but you need to try their baked goods and (my personal favorite) milk cake. Everything Ive had is excellent, staff is helpful and it has never been a disappointment. Highly recommended.
The food is outstanding ! By far the best mexican food restaurant in the area
I had a carry out. The 3 taco meal. They offered more than one selection for beef, chicken and pork . I had one of each meat selection: chipotle chicken, pulled pork, and shredded beef. All tasted good. The rice and pinto beans were seasoned perfectly. Excellent customer service!
One of the best restaurants in town.
I love love love this place! Im not a fan of the Express lane food. I only order food that has to be made fresh. I could eat here everyday.
The food was great and the service was awesome. The people are extremely kind and the food tasted fresh and authentic. Will definitely be going back!
These guys prepare some of the tastiest food Ive had in years. The flavors are out of this world on standard classics, I had the three enchiladas with the spicy Verde salsa and rice and black beans. The soup, which I had for lunch the next day, is also spectacular. I had to take it to go because I couldnt eat it all at once. Seriously recommend stopping here if you are passing through Ann Arbor. The people are friendly to boot!! 5 stars. Todd Bless!
Orders made on the spot. Authentic Mexican food, reasonably priced. Excellent.
TMaz turned out to be much better than it looks. First impression was negative due to the place looking like its under permanent renovation. However, the food was awesome l. The tacos were very flavorful. If you want authentic Mexican food then this is the place.
The best tacos Ive ever had. The service is great and workers are very friendly. Everything tastes so fresh! Definitely give it a try.
To be honest me being mexican and coming to this spot the food is not good the guy that is preparing the food is Rude and the food its not well cooked they give u something different that you didn’t order and its to over priced 0 stars
Visited Tmaz yesterday for the first time. Delicious! I will definitely go back next time Im in Ann Arbor. The menu is large, and the prices are great.
This place is perfect! Spartan furnishing, but the food...oh my. The barbacoa was tender, juicy the right amount of heat. The chicken was flavorful and moist, the marinated pork excellent. Skip the soda and get one of their flavored waters. They are portioned from the buckets in the cooler by the register. I enjoyed the tropical. Price was right, food was spot on! Thank you Tmaz.
If I had the option to rate 0 STARS I would. The online website is very deceiving. Food was very tasteless and not fresh. Very poor quality food. I had the popusas(not fresh) and my boyfriend had the taco dinner(tasteless). Staff was indeed friendly and attentive.
Hole in the wall kinda place. Food quality is great and the service is quick and friendly. They do have seating inside but definitely not the nicest place.
Delicious authentic mexican food. Pozole soup and tacos are my favorites!
This place use to be really fantastic. Now, although the food is still delicious, the staff is so slow that its almost not worth it if you want to go at any normal meal time. They really need a better system.
The food is good and fresh. Prices are a little steep for the quantity of food.Atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired. Random furniture, peeling paint, missing cieling tiles, and an awkward layout is the name of the game. Id like to think the money they dont invest on building repairs goes into the food. Worth a visit.
Really great local taco joint. Good selection of take fillings, the tamales were delicious and huge. Definitely in the top 3 tamales I have ever eaten.
This place I could eat every single day. The best tacos I have had in Michigan by far.
The food is excellent and cheap. I highly recommend their barbacoa. The guys there are working hard and the food is authentic. The over all atmosphere and cleanliness could use work.
Authentic Mexican style food in the casual dining area. So many varieties from this little place its great
For a very simple and unassuming place the food was very good. You can sense that from continued flow of carry out. Just for food i would give them 5 stars
The food is very good. Atmosphere is not what they are going for here and some of their specialty dishes require a wait (huaraches, pupusas). The staff are friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a try.
Good authentic Mexican food, or at least I think its authentic. They serve their tacos with corn tortillas, prices are fair, people are nice and appreciate your business. They sell real sugar soda, orders and atmosphere is nice. Would give it 5 stars if they offer flour tortillas because not a huge fan of corn, but still good.
Really good food. The pork and al pastor is great, so are the pepper and cheese tamales. Lots of options for a great price.
Best Mexican food in Ann Arbor! Such a surprise, and definitely worth the trip!
Lovely little place with great, inexpensive food. Had a Mexican food craving and this place definitely scratched the itch. A la carte tacos are under $2 a piece with plenty of selections and served with fresh onion and cilantro. The black bean and cheese tacos were delicious. Great price, great food. Ill be coming regularly. Oh, and there was a beautiful cockatoo playing outside as I was leaving as well, awesome!
Delicious, authentic and fresh tacos! This will be my new go to for fresh Latino food. The pork taco especially was great.
My spouse and I enjoy the poblano pepper stuffed with cheese adequately sauced with black beans and rice. Also we shared a couple of tamales chicken and vegetarian. The poblano pepper was great and the sauce went really well with the beans and rice which also had a very good flavor. Better than most chain restaurants. The tamales really did Shine the chicken was not overcooked and the corn meal very flavorful and moist. We really enjoy this Taqueria!
Its the real thing... Mexicans dont eat tacos in hard shells and thats what these guys sell. The only problem is that it feels a little too authentic at times... the vibe isnt as polished as your normal restaurants... but hey, this is the real deal, right? Their menus has expanded... Im not a big fan of their new additions, especially not the Goritas... doesnt rub me the right way... but they arent about to change the tacos and thats all I care about!
Best Mexican in town. Call ahead for takeout, they dont have much staff. But they are always packed and seem to always get my food in a timely manner. -plus they have Latin grocery items including abuelita hot chocolate which is great.
We have a weekly game night at my job and when we pick this place to order dinner from, we typically get a larger turn out. Weve ordered from them at least a half dozen times and each time the food is very good. These tacos and tortas remind me of some of my favorite spots in Texas.
If you go here I recommend the cochinita tacos!! We drive 40 minutes there and back for these. The best tacos around!
This place can be a little hard to find in the shopping center it is located in on Packard. But once you find it, its worth it. The food is made right in front of you behind a glass counter. It is Mexican street food /taqueria, tacos and tamales and house made soups. The Pork Tamales are wonderful and served with rice and beans if you order the meal. Also, served with a side of a spicy guacamole sauce, wonderful. Understand before that they do not have table service. You wait in line, order, pay, and then take your food to a table and get your own soft drinks. I have been in with kids and the staff was great, toward the end of the meal they came to the table and gave each kid a candy bar made in Mexico, nice touch. This taqueria is located in a small grocery store.
Food very good(good sazón!) /quick service. Looks like recent location still doing improvements.
