Great shop. Excellent service, Brandon. This shop rebuilt my front end and rear differential on my 2008 Sprinter. I’ve put over 7000 miles on it since and it is still better than new. I am thankful to find someone with the ability to work on my Sprinter RV.

I have been a loyal customer of Brian Hogues Hoover Street Auto Service (near Michigan Stadium) for more than thirty years. When I learned that one of Brians three shops had moved north of Ann Arbor (on Whitmore Lake Road near North Territorial), I decided to check it out. I was very impressed. The place is clean and well stocked. The staff is friendly and well informed. Kris, the manager, greeted me when I came in and personally fixed a minor issue I had with my vehicle. Since Kriss shop is less than ten minutes from my house, I plan to have my vehicles serviced there in the future. I expect I will experience the same kind of honest, efficient, quick service Ive had at Hoover Street.

These folks were very professional and thorough. I brought in an 89 Jeep with a plethora of problems. They dug very deep into it, with very thorough testing, and even though I decided to not get the work done, they were extremely professional and nice about it. Did not try to take advantage of me having an old vehicle and selling me ridiculous stuff. They were not pushy at all. I plan on using them again in the future. Thank you State Street Auto!

These folks were professional and helpful. Got an oil change with them. In the process of inspecting the vehicle they identified an oil leak and gave me a fair assessment of the risk and timeline for when I would need to fix it. Adding back a few stars based on this as I think it shows integrity and that my experience was perhaps a fluke.Ive been here a few times now and it started off really good but has really deteriorated recently and I wont be going back again. On my last oil change there were a couple problems:1. They used an additive that I didnt ask for (or need for that matter) and then up-charged me ~$15 for it.2. They overfilled my oil by almost a quart and I had to bring it back in to get the excess oil removed.I unfortunately referred a friend to them (based on my prior good experiences) and he had a similar issue where they used the wrong oil and also put in the additive and tried to up-charge him for it. I

I had a great experience here.My car was making noises and shaking. I initially called another location on Stadium. They were very nice and upfront; explaining that they focus on German imports. They recommended State Street. I was transferred to State Street and and they recommended that the car be towed to avoid damage. I took their advice and they very promptly took a look and identified the problem. They quoted a fair estimate and stuck to it. The car was ready right away.The owners and mechanics are friendly and go the extra mile. I definitely recommend coming to them.

Came in and they said to schedule an appointment to get it checked out. So huge waste of my time, thank you.

I will not be taking my car anywhere else in Ann Arbor. Kris worked with me two separate times without an appointment when my car was having trouble starting. The first time, they were not able to get my car to fail so they couldnt assess the issue, and I didnt have the issue again for a while. I brought it back 6 months later when it started happening again and they were able to diagnose the issue and repair it within only two business days. They also performed a complimentary inspection, and fixed one other issue for me. Kris also signed me up for their Customer Care Program where you can earn rewards to use in the shop, and use roadside assistance. I highly recommend going to State Street Auto.

My first experience was while trying to leave on a 2 week trip. Your office went out of their way to check out why my check engine light was on in my Airstream Interstate coach. Brandon was able to diagnose and clear the signal from the faulty glow plug, all for no charge!

Brandon was very informtive. You guys did a great job on my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Mercedes OM642 Turbo Diesel. Jeep dealers know nothing about these engines. I found you guys by Google search for Sprinter van service centers. State Street Auto was able to diagnos an intermittent fault code which only presented durring high idle, high load situation. Great guys!

This is my third visit and am very happy with the experience. Have worked with Kris and he has always been forthcoming about the repairs needed versus the ones which can wait. Also this time I got a wheel balancing and tire rotation and took the car to them 4 days later for some follow up noise coming from the tyres. They were very courteous and addressed my concerns. Also was great talking to their technical person Jack who was patient and explained to me that the sounds are due to uneven wearing of the tyres and with more use, they will evenly wear out and sounds will go away.Highly recommended! Also am very impressed with the detailed report they provide by SMS for every point on the inspection and also have an after hours car pick up by using a personalized locker. So in case you cant make in time to pick up the car and they close, you can pay by phone and use a secure locker service to collect the key and the car. Cheers State Street Auto Service!

This is the single best auto repair service Ive received in 34 years of driving. We are from out of town and our son goes to school in nearby Ypsilanti and was having issues with his brakes among other things. The gents at State Street Auto did a full evaluation of every issue with the car and broke it out by cost. Kris took me through the report and after finding out our plans for the car further broke down the items into what needed to be done now, what should be done soon, and what could wait. There was no push to add expense, and in fact, I felt he did his best to save us money. I will recommend this business to anyone I can. Integrity is difficult to find sometimes, but you can find it here.

The worst experience.. they gave us a quote of 780$ for an alternator, we told them not do the work. We showed up to have it towed and they did the work anyways. Then charged us 900$. This place is a scam!!

State Street Auto Service is friendly, professional, and consistent. I spoke to Kris initially who was very considerate and provided service the same day I called. Kris was transparent about costs, timely, kind, and professional. He explained in detail the specific needs of my current vehicle. He also informed me that my transmission model was a CVT (I clearly know so much about cars). Kris encouraged I seek additional information on my car to compare with the services suggested. Im new to the area and needed some work done on my truck. Found State Street Auto online and there were a lot of great reviews, so I thought Id give them a try. So far they have not disappointed. They have been very thorough and honest. They could not remove rear axle to repair a leak and did not try to oversell me. Chris gave me his honest opinion and worked with me on what I needed to get done and what worked with my budget. I will be going back to fix a few other issues. I will continue to update.

State Street Auto Service is decidedly a cut above other mechanic shops. They were friendly, helpful, and incredibly open and communicative. I typically have a hard time trusting auto repair places but thats not the case here. They upload photos of the repair/problem and communicate with you the whole time. I would definitely recommend them, and they will likely be the only place I take my vehicles to in the future.

Having bought a used Sprinter RV without inspecting it first, I was holding my breath as the check engine light came on on my drove home from picking it up. My son also had an upcoming sporting event the following weekend (which we purchased the RV for). They guys could have really taken advantage of me. They found a $4.99 O-ring that had broken causing the CEL. They also did a post purchase inspection to ease my mind about the purchase. AND on top of that, they got me back on the road in time for our event. We just drove 9 hours to Missouri for the event. Sprinter ran like a charm. No over-selling. Honest. Good people. They will be my go-to for this Sprinter. No question.

I was advised that I needed a new muffler by the dealership, so I wanted to have it replaced right then and there. Fortunately for me, they didnt have the part. I called State Street Auto because I have an upcoming road trip and really wanted to have this handled before my trip. They made an appointment for the next day, and said they wanted to take a look at my car before they could give me an estimate. After they looked, they determined the rattle Im hearing (and no one else IS hearing) may not be from the muffler. Due to not KNOWING what is causing the rattle, they recommended that I not do anything at this point. The dealership didnt KNOW for sure either, and yet they recommended muffler replacement based on a guess. Now I am sold on State Street Auto Service. They are friendly, professional, and clearly are not trying to rip off their customers. I am happy to have found them, and plan to go here for all of my future auto service needs!

Best place for auto and truck service

I was recommended to use this place because I wanted a trip inspection. I made an appointment online, they called me to confirm everything. This place was very professional and easy to find. The reason I am giving one star because their prices are twice as much as anywhere else. They wanted over 650 dollars just to do my front brakes.

I highly recommend State Street Auto! They’ve worked on my car three times, and are always cheerful, accommodating, up front and fast. They are happy to tell me what HAS to get done, and what can wait; they understand financial constraints, and will work with you as best they can to get your car going again.You couldn’t choose a better shop!

They were incredibly patient with me as I tried to figure out what to do after my car died. Everyone was helpful and realistic. I would definitely recommend the shop.

I came in with a Death Wobble issue. It was repaired quickly, professionally and I was given a great description of the parts/work that were being addressed.I wish the shop stayed open till 7pm at least one day of the week and/or that the shop were open for mornings at least one weekend day (their normal hrs are from 7 to 530 m-f... most people get off work at 5pm)— those are my only reasons why I ranked the experience a 4 instead of a 5 stars.

My car suddenly had no brake lights. I called State Street Auto and they told me to swing by as soon as I could. They were booked for the afternoon, but they asked me to leave the car so that they could take a look if they had time. They called just before closing to let me know a fuse was blown, but asked me to leave it overnight so they could double-check in the morning that nothing else was wrong. Brandon and his co-workers were thorough, friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond what I expected, and that goes a long way with me. They are the first mechanics I have used since moving to Ann Arbor last summer. Im relieved to find trustworthy people to be honest and fair with me. They deserve all the business.

Would highly recommend this business. One of my tires was running low on air as my son & I were driving back to Maryland. Fortunately we were driving right by State Street when i got the low air warning message. We pulled in and they were immediately able to determine that it was a slow leak and they filled up the tire free of charge. I made it back to Maryland with no problems thanks to them!!

Great service! Brandon was very professional to work with and the entire repair process went smoothly. They were able to get me in and fix the car within the same day. They were courteous in sharing their repair recommendations and explicitly go over the repair processes.

State street auto provides friendly, honest service. It took them a few days to take a look at my truck so they fixed my broken door handle free of charge for the inconvenience. They were able to fix my transmission with a simple sensor adjustment when dealerships said all they could do was replace the transmission.

I just moved to East Lansing and literally drive back just for these guys, they do such a good job and dont try to scam me into things I dont need. Ive been to at least 3 other shops around the area and they all have either broken things on my car or tried to sell me things I know have been replaced recently/arent needed.

Great service, great prices. The service tech didnt write up a bunch of add ons to try and sell me more services that I really didnt need. The guys at the main counter were both great to talk with and extremely helpful.

SCAM ARTIST GALORE!!! They operate using at least 5 shadow company names (fake names). Good Sams originally contacted them for a covered roadside assistance service call for me. They used the name Awesome Response. Good Sams told me the rates they were given for me by this company and when they called to tell me they were on their way, they gave me very different and considerably more expensive rates. When I declined their services based on these manipulated rates (politely I might add) the guy Randy (Later found out his last name is Raymore) sends me a text stating I was speaking in English but apparently you are listening in dumbas*. I was SHOCKED to say the least. After having called around looking for mobile truck repair, I got a call back from another number. Out of suspicion, I asked if this was Rapid Response. Randy (I later found out it was indeed same guy) said No were A-1. I knew it was him when he sent me a text saying youre a clown, the exact same phrase he had sent me on the last call. I did use them before I found out it was this guy and when he scanned my credit card, it came up 24 hour tire (another company name) with this exact address listed (for Glen Ann Auto, another company name). Their Facebook page says they are called Stadium Towing (another company name).I called the number listed for Glen Ann Auto and GUESS WHO ANSWERED THE PHONE?!?!?The infamous Randy! If thats even his name.BEWARE, the way this guy addresses his customers, you better believe you are no better than pond scum to them and your repair, customer service experience, and money will all be treated accordingly!RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN, AFTER REPORTING THEM!This deceitful scam operation needs to be uncovered by somebody who has the time and ability to run an investigation or report them to someone who does!

State Street was the only shop in town that could help me out in a time crunch and Brandon and his team were communicative, friendly, affordable, and helpful the whole way through. Id come back here again in a heartbeat. Thanks yall!

UPDATE: After speaking with Mike today I think my experience was an unfortunate mixup on their part. I do appreciate the follow up and wouldnt counsel anyone against giving these guys a try.I was extremely disappointed with the service I received from State Street Auto. When their technician called to discuss the repairs needed over the phone he seamed very surprised when I answered the phone and insisted he thought he was supposed to be talking to my father about my vehicle. I am an almost 30 year-old powertrain engineer at an OEM and have taken care of my own vehicles since I was 18. This kind of treatment is why I am so hesitant to take my car anywhere.
