Just moved to the area. I tried a couple places neither of which willing to install my lift kit which is understandable. I was recommended to try McManus and they were more than willing to do it. They got it done in a timely manner and cheaper than expected. Will be going back.

Bill and the guys do great work at a fair price. Couldnt be happier with the level of service, their knowledge and prices. They have kept my car road worthy for many years longer than it should have been.

After going to CarX and the problem not getting solved on my boyfriends jeep, I did a quick Google search to find someone and honestly wondering why McManus Automotive isnt the first one that pops up! We took our Jeep to CarX 4x in 3 weeks. Charged us 1300 and the problem was still persisting. I called yesterday to McManus, Im assuming it was John I spoke to and I probably was just rambling on about the problems the jeep was having but he waited patiently and listened to what the problems were and when he answered, he didnt sound annoyed or agitated with my rambling. He actually asked if I wanted to that I could come in right then and there to see if what he thought could fix it, would work. But I had to get back to my job and he let me come in at 930 this morning to look at it. And omg, he was so kind and patient, again. I think it was John. He talked me through the problems and why he thought a certain thing would work. Anyway, he was very kind and patient and understanding. He told me to give him a call if the issue wasnt fixed and that I could come in on Monday. But alas, the problem is fixed and we will forever be taking our service to McManus. They are very knowledgeable, kind and patient! Thank you for your help today!

Called to see if they could get my car in and the response I recieved was they dont really touch my kind of car audi but the man was very respectful and gave me another number and directed me to a place outside the dealership which will save me a major amount of money! Cant tell you about the work they do but they will do there best to help you great customer service.

I am new to the area so I needed to find a new auto shop because my car was making an airplane sound on the highway. I called McManus on Thursday, and the shop got me in Monday to look at a wheel bearing. I had just gotten the same wheel bearing that had gone bad fixed at another auto shop from my hometown not even a year ago for $400, but the guy on the phone said it was not covered under warranty. McManus said they could get me in the same day and would charge similar price. The mechanic explained what the total price broke down to including labor, parts, time, etc. I did not have $400 so I called my old auto shop one more time to check the warranty. Supposedly the first guy on the phone didnt know what he was talking about because the mechanic said it was covered. SO, unfortunately I did not get my car fixed at McManus, but they were completely understanding, and I will go to them in the future for any other car repairs! Thank you guys so much.

Had a great experience! They were honest, quick, and thourough when diagnosing and fixing my car.I got two quotes. The chain mechanic down the street quoted first and stated the I had several things wrong and the bill would be close to $1000.I called McManus for another quote. They looked at it and told me that only a belt was needed. Everything else was fine. Thank you McManus for being honest!I would give 10 stars if I could and will be back for future services.

I moved from Altoona 3 years ago to Ankeny and make the drive to McManus for service on both of my cars. Super friendly, they call you by name. Very honest and reliable, and their customer service is top notch! I highly recommend for anyone!

McManus has done work for us for a lot of years. They ALWAYS treat us fairly and put our issues first. They have not done unnecessary work. My husband can be quite picky and has suggested work that doesnt really need to be done and they will tell him so. They have saved us money over the years.I wouldnt take my vehicles anywhere else. John and Bill are good people and run a solid business. Its not easy to find a good automotive repair shop you can trust, but I trust this one 100%.

They are a little on the expensive side but they do really good work.

Nice and quick

My car stated making a strange noise and smoke rolled out from under my hood at about 3:30pm on a Wednesday. I looked under the hood and noticed a belt was dangling inside. I called McManus auto and spoke to Bill who was able to squeeze me in right away and provided a ride home and a ride back to the shop the following morning to pick up my car. They also offered to change my oil while my car was in as it was due. Overall they were fantastic to work with and were life savers for me as Im a home care nurse and my car is my office!! Thank you!

Its hard to find a good mechanic, but search no further. My wife and I have loved working these guys ever since we moved to the Altoona area. They have always treated us fair and never recommended any services that werent needed. The prices are also very reasonable. They even looked at used vehicles we were looking to buy without any charge. I would highly recommend to anyone searching for a quality mechanic.

Polite and practical two things that are surprisingly rare in mechanics.

Took my car in for service as maintenance light came on & car had recently started to make a strange noise.Received an oil change & was handed a bill. I asked about the noise the car was making & was told that it didnt make any noise fir them so if it continues to bring it back. I walk to the car, turn the engine & the noise started immediately & was worse than before. So I went back & brought Bill out to listen. He immediately said the engine was shot & beyond repair.Of course this is at 4:45 on Saturday when they close at 5pm. I understand everyone wants to go home at this time but I had to ask if they would take a look.Another employee came to drive the car back in the garage & made the comment oh well weve missed much worse.I watch as the hood gets popped for seriously less than a minute, watch them yank at SOMETHING under the car & that was it.They brought it back out & I was told the same thing - the engine was just bad & there was nothing they could do.I noticed another new noise as they drove it to me - whatever they were yanking at seemed to now be dragging on the ground. And they only noticed & fixed THAT after it was pointed out to them.After a second opinion that a few belts needed replaced the car is fine.I was ready to junk the car & face buying another car after only owning this one 3 months.Bill is condescending & dismissive. Yes his knowledge on vehicles is much more vast than mine but this is the type of situation ANYONE is afraid of. We trust mechanics to be fair & HELP. That was not done.Myself & my family have paid McManus thousands of dollars in the past & have put a lot of trust in them. I guess that didnt mean much to them. Theyve lost longtime customers.I have NEVER written a bad review but this time I could not ignore it.

This shop is community oriented and let us do a fundraiser in their parking lot and they have taken care of every car that I have owned on living in Altoona they have great service good people and are friendly.

We were 2 hours from home and had a radiator leak. These guys worked us in on a Saturday and got us all fixed up and back on the road. They were very nice and fairly priced!

Quality guys own and work here. This place has treated me extremely fair ever time I go in. They are one of, if not, the most honest auto repair shops around. I do not go anywhere else and you wont either once you give them a try. 😀

Puts the wrong sized battery in your car and argues with you and tells you the owners manually and all the auto parts stores systems are wrong and that they are right. They are dishonest and will not admit when they have made an error..
