Roe, the sales associate in Men’s suits, was a 100% class act and the best I have had at customer service! Not only did I get the best services, but also a great suit at a great price. I’ll only be shopping for suits when Roe’s working!

A very nice vintage JCP store

Salon experience and stylists are a must if you need a GREAT place to get your hair done. My highlights didnt take the first time, and my stylist Denise was suspicious right away. She brought me back and did them again, and I could NOT be happier. JCPENNEYS salon in Alton is the only place I will go.

I always get Good customer service, and its one of the last retail clothing stores left.

Cpou] have been a 5. The staff is very pleasant and helpful but the place simply is not handicap friendly. Only the main isle is wide enough for a wheelchair. The passageways between racks of clothing are way too tight. Also, there are no powered carts for the handicapped.

They have a great selection of clothing. & the workers are very nice & helpful.

This JCPenny location is a good one. It isnt huge as if it were in a large city mall. The items offered for sale are plenty enough, except not completely thorough and as well stocked as its sisters stores.My only complaint, which is why I rated it 4* out of 5*, would probably be the fairly empty shoe section. Some parts of the womans athletic shoes had just the sizes 6 and 6 1/2 regular, 7 and 7 1/2 regular, and sizes 10 and upwards. Thats all. Although, being truthful, it was mostly just one designer brand that wasnt decently stocked. Ergo, the same goes for the mens section.I cannot speak for all the employees, but one kind Sir helped me out with a gift for my husband. He didnt just point me in the direction of what I was asking for or flat out tell me he didnt know or that he wasnt sure or that he couldnt help me. No, not at all. I was asking for a tie that would go with a suit my husband owns and which tie and shoes would go good, and even a shirt, if possible. This kind Sir didnt brush me off or lift his nose at me. This Sir actually helped me by grabbing the suit that closely matched the one I said my husband owns, and proceeded to get shirts, ties, and shoes that he thought went perfectly together!This employee went behind my expectations and made my experience worthwhile, which will definitely have me going back there to shop - and hopefully get his expertise again!

A lot of great saving if you have a Pennys Card. Good savings even if you dont.

Nice JCPenney store in Alton Square Mall. I selected my items, and was asked if I needed any help. The checkout staff was helpful and quick. I live in Downtown St. Louis, and this is my go-to department store for mens casual clothes and mens dress clothes... I will be back.

Horrible selection of clothes for men 34 waist and up, horrible shoe selection for men over size 8 1/2. And barely any name brand shirts for men above size large this has to be the worst JCPenneys Ive ever been too

This is a wonderful spacious store with two levels. The store is organized and clean with great deals and prices! The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. Can be a little busy on the weekend as there are very few stores in this particular mall. However you can still get in and out in a decent shopping time.

Needed to get some good formal attire quickly but I was a little disappointed by the selections they had - not a whole lot of variety. But the prices were quite good and the staff nice enough.

JC Penney has quality merchandise and reasonable prices. Love they make returns painless!

Few stores to buy womens work clothes

I generally like shopping at JC Penney. However there was only 1 register open for both upstairs and lower level! The salon was open and did offer to help me but noted they wouldnt be able to verify some sale prices. After checking throughout the store found they had just opened the mens register. Very inconvenient!

Good deals and customer service.

Three coats the same two were a price and the white one was higher . I asked Maria if the other was a lower price she said no cause of the color? But then she told she doesn’t make the prices and she only works here. I told her she had great customer service skills. Being sarcastic. She did not want to check into it due to almost closing time. I would have bought all three but since she didn’t want to look into the price I left it. Rudest cashier I’ve ever encountered .. just my experience

I ran an errand to the womens department for my wife. The lady working helped me. Went and checked out another customer, then came right back to me to help me finish. You just dont see that alot now days. It was nice.

Weve shopped at Penneys since I was little. I even worked there for 19 yrs.Good retail store. You can always find something to buy. Cute jewelry, shoes to bedding & bath. If they dont have your size or color you can get it ordered and shipped to the store or your house. I of course save the delivery fee and get it sent to the store. More reason to shop as I pick up my orders! #I❤JCP

I really enjoyed the positive attitude at the hair salon. They didnt give me a hard time and didnt ask me my life story.

We came in the JC Penney entrance, and did not actually shop there. It is a gem that people should patronize more often for quality clothes. There were quite a few costumersshopping for a Friday at lunch time.

They had what I needed in stock so I was happy

December 2019 my family ordered a photo shoot that we were 20 minutes late arriving. The young lady who took our pictures on the 28th was patient and more than understanding about our 3 little ones who were out of control to say the least. She maintained composure and assisted to the best of her abilities. The photos were decent but she offered a reschedule date to try again. I also put my mothers name in a free picture drawing and received a call the following Monday saying she had won a free shoot. Highly satisfied !

Long line to pay. Only one cashier otherwise it went well.

Rosa was the photographer. She is awesome! Catches the difficult pictures with 2 toddlers. Takes time to select pictures and assortment. Very courteous and energetic.

New management brings (bad) new policies. Tried to return a Xmas gift. I was told I could ONLY return it for either the exact same item or item of the same brand regardless of the fact that that brand does not make items in my size. They would not let me return it for store credit and purchase something else, even after I conceded to taking the lowest price in the last 45 days for the item. I ended up having to ask the gift giver for the receipt just so I could get something else.

Really good sales at this time. Still lots of summertime merchandise to choose from. The gentleman checking me out in the mens department is a gem. A great representative for JCPenney.

Although I havent been there in a while, its a good store to shop at. I have bought handbags there and they are good quality.

Poor JCP store. The Alton Mall is just disappearing. The store is full of nice things with some great sales...but few customers. PEOPLE!! Please visit the stores at the Alton Mall. They need us!

Nice store but they were very whipped out of sizes and stuff. Did find my son a very nice sweatshirt but it was pricey even after discount.

I can always find clothes there, they seem to understand womens needs, for example I could only find extremely short shorts everywhere else. There, I found just a little longer ones that fit great.

We purchased a new fridge from the JCP Alton location because they had a 50% off as is sale going on. That experience in itself was good. The people working upstairs were helpful and even held the item there for a week so we could get into our new home and set up transporting it there. However, it was a little different story when we picked it up 3 days later. Overall, most of the employees we encountered were nice and helpful. The young man that helped us dolly the fridge out was kind and helpful. There was one person that really ruined the experience overall. There was an older lady named Michelle who was basically rude and unhelpful. As we were ready to leave she rudely stated I needed to come in and show our paperwork before we could leave. I went to the car to grab the receipt (the only paperwork we received). When I get back in she had disappeared. She did not tell me where to go to show the paperwork. I waited about 15 minutes to see if she would reappear from the back stockroom. When it became apparent that she was not coming back to assist a customer, I had to go in search of someone. I found a young lady named Peyton working out on the floor. I told her the situation and she was able to get me taken care of. Peyton was so nice and helpful so kudos to her. Shame on the older employees who clearly dont care which is not good in todays struggling mall industry.

The place was basically empty. A sad day for JCPenney and Alton.

Had to buy a suit jacket spur of the moment. Madelyn in Jr. Boys Department went out of her way to help. Jcpenney is lucky to have an employee that was so helpful.

Found something for my lady for her birthday

My 5 star review is only for the mens department there. Every time I go in there the gentleman that works there is one of the most knowledgeable, professional, helpful workers in this store. I go there because of him and him only.

Sandra was awesome dealing with us. We had 4 generation pictures and several more. Thank you for a job well done.

I had a wonderful experience. When I got there Brenda had clocked out, but she stayed and got my order together. Anyone else would have said, Im off for the day and would have left, but not her. I had my sons pictures taken by Miss Rosa. I highly recommend her. She really takes her time and captures great smiles.

Shop here often. They have decent sales. If have credit card, you get points faster.l love the $10 coupons! And they also have promotions frequently, usually 20% off.

Thank goodness for the girl working upstairs I was kinda upset.bi received a text saying both of my items were in. Well it said at the store they were but they werent only one!! But the girl working childrens on 2-14-2019 was GREAT she did everything that she could to make up for it yay for her

The Alton square associate refused to use my coupon. Even after reading it was a valid coupon tried to argue that it was not A valid coupon. It is a corporate coupon that I have used the last 6 months with no issues. You would think with the declining sales at the Alton square mall they would welcome any money flow. I Told the associate to keep her items and I would use a different JC Penney store that accepted my coupon. Then walked out the store. Needless to say my items are being shipped via the website And my coupon was used

JcPenney has always been a good store. I miss having the old thick catalogs. Thats just me not wanting to change everything with the times as everything else is. Its never closed down in the old Alton Square Mall like most everything else has. Only a few of them left.

I had a very pleasant experience at the JC Penneys this evening. I went into buy a pair of blue jeans. They had exactly what I wanted and in my size. The young lady who assisted me with checking out was quick and friendly.

Good store with friendly staff. Will help if you ask. Great to shop at because usually not too crowded. Only wish they had a little more in stock, especially petite clothing and designer brands!
