Its hard to describe this place! I think its a miracle! Carving these faces on the mountain is not an easy job, especially in that time when there were no tools and techniques like there are today! In my opinion, this work is one of the greatest works of man throughout the ages, this work is greater than the pyramids, it is truly one of the wonders of the world, it should be at the top of the list of wonders of the world. I feel proud that I was able to visit this teacher! Americans should be proud of this achievement.

Mount Rushmore is truly a work of art. Please read about the history and the artist, Borglum. There is the Presidential Trail (0.6 miles) which will take you closer to Mount Rushmore and you can visit the Sculptor’s Studio to see the original vision for the design. Once it gets colder and the stairs ice over, you won’t be able to access the Trail. Parking is $10 per car and the receipt/pass is valid for one year if you plan to visit again.

This was a fun part of our trip. Never thought I’d go to Mount Rushmore. It was awesome! I kept hearing how small it was in real life but I don’t think that at all. It was a rather large and impressive monument. I couldn’t believe that they were able to do that back then. The amount of detail and symmetry. Even to the glasses! Definitely worth the trip and it was a beautiful drive.

Mount Rushmore National Museum is a legendary and iconic monument to the presidential history of our nation. The faces are remarkable. However, honestly a visit to the actual monument property isnt necessary considering the size of the face carved in the mountain. As you drive in theres an amazing view on US-16A and SD-244. You can get a wonderful photo from this location, especially if you have a good zoom. But every person should visit the monument up close but you probably only need to do it one time in your life.

We went at night to see it illuminated and it was stunning! We returned the next morning and its breathe taking. It doesnt cost to get in but it does cost $10.00 for parking. You drive up and get a ticket, park and then you pay at one of the machines in the park, there is several. You get a receipt and its good for a year. If you go at night to see it illuminated all you do the next morning is scan the receipt at the entrance. This monument is a must see.

Such a great spot to visit. We went for the night lighting and were not disappointed. The speech given by the park ranger that night was based off of some of Thomas Jeffersons letters, (hes one of my favorite founding fathers) and encouraged a kinder society. The video that played before the lighting was informative and kept the attention of my 7-year old. After the lighting service members were recognized. It was definitely a patriotic moment to be there for that. A few days later, we went back and hiked the presidential trail, which wasnt bad either, but we were already sore from hiking in the Badlands. Definitely worth a stop. I think my son will remember the time spent in SD for the rest of his life. Great memories. The gift shop was well stocked, but it stayed busy.

Mount Rushmore is beautiful. If you go to the memorial park, it is $10 minimum per vehicle for a one-year pass (no military discounts/park passes). The park is beautifully maintained & accessible. The presidential trail is a wonderful walk - but depending on which trail head you start, there can be many steps. Otherwise, the trail is pretty accessible. If you do not want to pay, you can see the memorial from Iron Mountain Rd, which provides a very picturesque view.

Quite a breath taking sculpture of the former presidents of the United States of America. You can see some view from the highway 16 but the best view is from the Mount Rushmore Park itself, of course.Place is wheelchair friendly and the hike from the parking lot to the edge of the viewing area is about 200 to 300 meters. The walk is very easy walk and it is not an uphill hike. Everyone will be able to make that walk.Awesome visit with kids but just be aware that once they reach the viewing area, they might want to go back immediately as there is really nothing for them to do there in the viewing area. And on top of that ice cream store is near the gate. There are couple of coin operated binoculars that you can use to get a close glimpse of the Mount Rushmore.I was told to allocate 1 to 2 hours for the visit but this tour can be done in 20 to 30 minutes. Unless you want to sit on the benches facing the Mount Rushmore for 1 to 1.5 hours then you should allocate that much time.If you are just planning to go there to take pictures and maybe do some light reading of the plaquards to understanding the history, 30 mins is more than enough.Parking for 1 vehicle is USD$10.Souvenirs are very expensive at Mount Rushmore, buy them in Keystone which is about 8 minutes drive from Mount Rushmore and you will also get variety of gifts. There are food in Mount Rushmore but expensive. Again get food from the town of Keystone which is much better in price.I am very happy I was there to actually visit the much read place but I do not think I will be returning again.

National Parks are National Treasures for sure. Mount Rushmore does not disappoint in its beauty. The parking was well organized with attendants to direct you with quite a bit of garage style parking, I would be surprised to see them run out of spaces, but who knows. The road in is made for your car, not your RV, Im sure my RV would have had to pull over the mountainous climb a couple of times. Either way, its misleading that Mt. Rushmore is in the Black Hills, coming from the Shanondoah Mountains these Hills are Huge! Once you get in the park area it is an amazing view from almost anywhere, they have giant pillars that frame your first view of the Presidents as you walk in. Then you walk down a walk of State and Territory flags still framing both sides of the Monument. Then it opens up to a plaza where you can really take in the magnitude of the work. They have plenty of museum items as well to check out with a short movie for the history buffs. We took a walk around a trail that takes you right under the noses of the Presidents. My kids loved it and we even came back the next day for the lighting ceremony at night. The one regret is our timing. We were in the area for two days.... Anyone who has come to this area can tell you there is WAY more than just Mount Rushmore in this area, however it was definitely worth coming to just see this National Treasure.

Try to bring your own picnic lunch because the food concession with Xanterra is overpriced. The ranger talks were excellent and the beautiful scenery is fantastic. They handle 2-3 million visitors a year very well. We rented the audio guides which were very worth the $5.00. The museum was fantastic as was the movie. Plan on spending several hours. The hike and stairs are well marked but a little steep if you are old. It was nice to see masks required for everyone. This is truly a national treasure.

Come on ! Mt.Rushmore? It was great. Did not walk down to bottom. You cant get too close, but it is awesome. We had binoculars, the detail is amazing. Woman at gift store told us Washingtons nose alone is 21 ft long, compared to the ceiling in store at 19. Just need to go, pictures do not give it justice.

We’re beyond impressed by the people who made this sculpture. Their artistic ability, risks taken, hardwork and everything else involved in realizing it. It’s like the work of gods! The gigantic sculpture is fascinating!

There is something innately American about visiting Mount Rushmore. It was exciting to show this space to our seven and eight year old sons. So people know there is a $10 parking fee here and having a national park pass doesnt do anything to pay for that. There were lots of people and well over 95% of them were unmasked. We kept our two sons in their masks since theyre too young to be vaccinated but it did leave me feeling a little ill at ease since South Dakota is certainly experiencing some hot spots with covid right now.

Very cool. Highly recommend. Definitely go down to the sculptors house (cant remember if it was called house). A park ranger explains the process and some challenges along the way.My only complaint here is that it was so hot and there werent many shady areas outside of the museum. Would be amazing to see a concert in their amphitheater!

My favorite place to go and visit. I could live in this area. I feel very patriotic and see American history. Hopefully it stays with all the !@#$%^&* trying to destroy monuments and statues of American history. The cost to get in is 10 dollars per car. The ride to get to it is beautiful. Its a must see

Definitely worth the visit. The surrounding national forest is a scenic backdrop all around. Please be aware that pets can not go up close to the Rushmore statues viewpoint.

If you are going through on I-90, take the time to make this stop. It is a bit of a tourist trap on the way up to the monument, but even if all you can do is park, get out, and walk up to the monument view and sit and enjoy it for a few minutes, it is worth it. We have been on I-90 coming thru only a handful of times, but we have stopped here each time and enjoyed the experience even if it was only 30 minutes. Frankly, if you are looking for hiking, there are far better options within just a few miles of this place. Come here and enjoy the patriotism and history of the place.

First time ever seeing Mt. Rushmore. I feel everyone who lives in this country or is just visiting, needs to see and take in this part of history. Totally in awe by what was started and finished almost one hundred years ago.

Very cool, worth the visit. It is massive. It can be seen from the road further away, but for a $10 parking fee you get to walk right up underneath it. There is a trail that goes around the right side and gets even closer. If you are in the area, or passing by put it on your list of things to check out.

So stunning! i came at sunset and the clouds were perfectly hit by the light and i got amazing pictures! There was a storm near that had us cancel the 10 minute video but still was really cool to see all the veterans and active military people that were there. Can’t wait to come back someday!
