The store is under new, corporate ownership, and all of the older guys who knew everything are at home, working in their shops. So it was both surprising and gratifying when Eric went above and beyond with his help. They still have the same awesome selection of everything.If you cant find it at Village Hardware or at The Variety Store in the next block, you can probably do without it.

Amazing place! To preface, 3 wks. ago I ordered a Weber grill from Lowes Alex. Whenever I checked the status it was in progress ~~ no emails, nothing letting me know it when it would ready for p/up, nothing! I called the store today, the phone rang 10 minutes before I hung up ~ called the main # and again, 10 minutes of holding before hanging up. I immediately cancelled the order and remembered that place on Ft. Hunt Rd. ~~~ Village Hardware! Stopped by, they had the grill I wanted and it will be assembled AND delivered Saturday at no additional cost. Jim, the grill guru, is friendly, knowledgeable, extremely pleasant, etc., etc. If you havent been there, they have everything under the sun ... a real old-time hardware store! And the grilling supplies including marinades, rubs, etc., are far better than any grocery store!

Went there to get keys copied. Took about 10 minutes. Very courteous and professional. Very pleased with this store.

In 1991, I was still in college, had gotten married on a Monday and walked into the Village the next day, saw a Help Wanted sign, asked for a job and was hired on the spot. I had much to learn and it was a great place to work. Larry and his family are salt of the earth and they run a great neighborhood business. I wish I could give it 10 stars.

I dont know if this place is under new management or what but every time Ive come in lately the staff has been awful. Long wait times at the register, rude staff, no thanks. Not with home depot right down the road.

I love this hardware store. It takes you back to the days of mom and pop hardware stores. There are always people eager to help you and all the great little impulse buyer tchotchke at the register is so much fun but dangerous (but you might also find something you didnt know you needed!). Theyre a little more expensive for larger purchases like lawnmowers and grills but they come delivered, assembled and ready to go! Certainly worth the difference!

Village hardware is a small locally owned and operated company and has been professionally and competently in business for at least 40 years. Their team is knowledgeable about local contractors and they sell better quality products than Lowes or Home depot as their distributors allow. You wont find a friendlier or more helpful group of people to guide you to help coach you through your home repair situation. Absolutely a 5 star operation. Support Local Small Businesses, especially as we all are trying to eek through the Covid-19 dilemma that has been so devastating to other small businesses. You wont be disappointed!!!!

I love our local hardware store. The staff is incredibly helpful. Its jam packed with so many things and they have most anything you are looking for. Theyve done screen repairs for us quickly and delivered mulch same day. They even have a basement show room.

I came in here today with the intention of purchasing some Benjamin Moore paint. I noticed that their price was upwards of $65.00 and I asked one of the employees why the price here was significantly higher. He wasnt sure so he asked another gentleman in the back room who had an older voice. This guy refused to leave the back room and talk to me personally. I had to about to the back to communicate with him to find out why their price is $15.00 higher here. It was a little frustrating, and I really didnt feel like I was valued so much as a Customer.

Could not have had a better experience here! I bought a new Weber gas grill. The guy in the store was very knowledgeable and spent a good amount of time with me. Turns out he was the store owner. After figuring out my best options to consider, he gave me his card and said I could just call back to order it. I did some online comparison shopping and realized that, although their price was higher, it included free assembly and delivery, plus they hauled away the old grill. They also transferred the propane tank and shined up the grill when it was in place. For my money, all that service more than made up for the slightly higher price. All that, plus an old fashioned hardware store with helpful, knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend you check them out!

Just picked up my Weber grill. Wish these guys sold TVs, cars, food, and more. I might be broke but the buying experience would be great. Every employee is polite, helpful, and happy. Lets dispense with the fallacy that you can get better pricing on Weber equipment in the big box stores. Weber tightly controls pricing and that is why most any Weber product no matter the vendor, seems to have the same price. So here you get the same price on a Weber product, but actual good advice from an experienced salesman, not a minimum wage employee who would care less. And assembly is included at no cost if you wish. That is why knowledgeable Weber product aficionados in the area come here for their purchase. The selection is the best in the area, no need to wait to satisfy your bbq needs. And a large selection of accessories and supplies like unique rubs and sauces. No need to go anywhere else. Really. Pay them a visit and find out for yourself.

This is an amazing hardware store. Sure the bigger stores have a larger footprint, but the customer service and care here are fantastic and unmatched. Larry and his son Tyler took great care of my family and I over the past year as we prepared for and conducted our transition back to VA from overseas. I ordered a smoker from overseas during a special sale; they happily took care of me over the phone and held the smoker for me. When I got back to the U.S., I went to the store to arrange delivery and purchase a Weber grill. Larry talked to me for a bit before pointing me to cheaper model with more features that is not sold in the larger stores. Though out of stock and on back order (b/c of COVID-19), Larry worked the phones and and found one at another dealer. His team drove out ot pick it up. Then then assembled it (and my smoker) and delivered them to my home at no extra charge. I also bought the Stihl Kombi system for yard work. Tyler walked me through the system, came out to the parking lot to show me how to start it, helped me start it, and told me to call if I had any questions. When one of the pieces was not functioning properly, he offered to walk me through the repair over the phone; I could not do this because my tools were still in transit. So, I went back and he fixed the issue (which he correctly diagnised over the phone). I also want to say Village Hardware is a BBQers paradise!!! Check out their basement and be prepared to spend some time there.

This store is exceptionally well run. I was researching charcoal grills from ceramic Kamados to Weber kettles and when they took me downstairs I could not believe how many kinds they had! I’ll never buy another grill from anyone or anywhere else. This is a destination store. Family owned, very well organized and everyone is very nice. Excellent customer experience and service. This is retail done right.

What an awesome Hardware store! Unlike the big-box stores this place still employs people who know what theyre doing and know their inventory. You can pretty much always find whatever nut, bolt, tool, weird little doodads you need quickly and efficiently. I also live coming and just perusing the aisles. Its an old-timey style mom and Pop hardware store in the best way. Well worth your visit!

Tiny local hardware store that I have been going to for 30 years. The place is packed floor-to-ceiling with stuff. If you are unsure about a project or how to proceed to the people that work there have the knowledge and experience to guide you.

If youre a local, you know this place. Prices are a bit above the big box hardware stores, but if you need its here and there is always someone to help work through any DIY you have. Plus the secret downstairs grill shop is a serious man cave (or cooks cave if you will)

Best mom/pop, non-chain hardware store in the area. They have every hard-to-find item Ive searched for thus far. My metal-works teacher also goes here to find odd items. They are super helpful, and I dont feel out of place just because I am a girl. I now shop here first to buy hardware and tools rather than waste fuel trekking across the area from one big box store to the other with little success of finding what I truly need.

In the middle of grilling for a cookout, my grill pressure regulator broke. I walked into Village Hardware 5 min before 6PM as they were closing up for the night. The manager stopped what he was doing and helped me find a replacement, all the while smiling. Great customer service experience and I was cooking again 5 minutes later.

Classic hardware store - narrow isles, tons of merchandise, people who really know what you need and can find it immediately. Went in for a lamp part after finding out local Baldwin lamp dealer wanted me to leave the lamp and then would call me with an estimate. Village Hardware had the small brass fitting I needed and then charged me a whole 25 cents for the part!And have bought 2 Weber grills from them - used one up after 20 years, went in to look and brought the replacement. It was delivered assembled, and they took the old used up grill away. Go into the basement Weber showroom but plan to spend some time there as they have an amazing inventory of Weber grills, accessories, parts and grilling spices.AND, be sure to talk to them about your lawn and plants. Best and most knowledgeable resource in Alexandria. Do we like it? Oh Yeah!

Tyler spent time with us talking through Big Green Eggs, various Webers, charcoal vs gas and more. No pressure, loads of information and biggest selection weve seen so far. Ive always appreciated convenience and friendly service. When I bought $125 weed whacker it worked for about 10 minutes when thread stopped feeding. I reviewed directions and fiddled with it for about an hour, going to buy new thread before giving up. When I returned to store, I was told there were no exchanges or returns, that the boss had same model that worked fine, and they could demonstrate it for me. I left it there, wrote off the $125 as lesson learned, and bought new weed whacker at Lowes. My fault for not checking beforehand on exchange/return policy. They later phoned to say my weed whacker was fixed. But I my Lowes purchase works fine and has warranty.

I always buy my nuts, bolts, screws and washers here. They always have the size I need and I dont have to purchase 6 of them just to get one. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful.
