The store smelled wonderful upon walking in. Got the Cinnamon Burst and Pumpkin Spice breads. The cinnamon burst is packed with delicious cinnamon flavor in every bit. Im usually not a fan of pumpkin spice foods, but I tried it. It was very moist and the pumpkin isnt overwhelming. It was the right amount! This place will be added to my favorites.

Above and beyond customer service! The owners are absolutely wonderful. You don’t find business owners like these anymore.I’m in love with their cinnamon swirl bread baked on Tuesday’s. We make French toast with it on the weekends. The sourdough is also to die for. Highly recommend this bakery to anyone and everyone. You won’t be disappointed!

This is one of the best local bakeries in all of Northern Virginia. I have been to both locations and this one is closer to my home and work. My son loves to come here every weekend after swimming to try samples and get a free cookie in exchange for some kid drawing at the community table. They just introduce soups with a partnership and they are very tasty. When you stop by get a monthly calendar to know which breads are made daily. Their staff is always friendly and welcome you with smiles. We are a repeat customer for nearly 5 years.

The bakery is very cute. Maybe I ordered the wrong bread but it seemed to not be fully cooked. Many of the loafs to me looked like they were only partially baked. I asked an employee & she assured me they were cooked completely. When we returned home & cut off a few slices - even my husband thought it needed further baking. The exterior didnt even look done. We baked in the oven for an additional 15 minutes on 325° on center rack. This seemed to help a little. Also got a cheese & jalapeno bread. I thought it was too salty but my husband & friends liked it.The baked goods offered here are not European-style imo & that could account for my disappointment. We only had bread. We did not try any cakes or cookies. For bread we give 2 stars but as previously mentioned we like European breads Italian, French & German - which these breads definitely are not.

BEST BAKERY IN ALEXANDRIA!!Love the tasting table. We are always greeted with the offer to sample a number of different fresh baked treats. The sourdough bread is the best in the area. The only problem is that it’s baked goods are just too good! I cannot eat grocery store bread any more.

If you want really fresh bread of every variety, then this is definitely where you need to go. They cater to everyone; those who loke gluten free, those who like it sweet, and those who like it traditional like me. They make the best original white or honey wheat bread. Best time to go is Sunday mornings because they make a lot more that day so there will be a lot of options that day. Love this place!

This is a wonderful neighborhood bakery. It’s so welcoming to little kids and families. The breads are delicious- I love coming by to grab treats to share with friends and visiting family. The staff and owners are always friendly and helpful.

I have not been to a store of any kind in NOVA where the employees were nicer than those at Great Harvest. They have flavor combos Ive nvr even heard of which were 2 good, and they even have vegan options! Totally fabulous!

I️ am just in town for the week before heading back overseas and wanted some fresh baked goods. This place is absolutely perfect with wonderful daily options. Incredibly friendly staff who answered all of my questions while offering me some tasters off of the “board.” The pumpkin chocolate chip bread was so fresh and not overly sweet, while the cinnamon roll didn’t even make it home. Thanks for a lovely morning before I️ fly out! I️ will definitely be back here.

Such a pleasure to go to this store! They have a seriously amazing customer service ethic! I wish I could bottle it and share it with all retail stores. Of course, the bread is amazing, fresh and so tasty. Low carbs? Stay far away - but if you indulge, this is worth the trip. Dont forget to say yes to a sample with some butter.

Ive been going here for several years, but got a special treat lately. Under the new owners theres fresh gluten free bread every Monday. Having a local bakery was already a plus for the community, but having one where I can take advantage of fresh gluten free bread is terrific. If gluten free is important to you or your family, check it out. Its always freshest on Monday - try the cranberry bread!

Nice place. I had a chocolate chip scone and coffee for breakfast. Their coffee was surprisingly good for a place that does not specialize in it.They gave me a sample of some raspberry swirl bread. It was tasty.The mint chocolate chip cookies are especially good.

I believe these guys were set up at the farmers market in old town..we were vacationing and happened on them. We bought some kinda bread that had a thick and hard crust but was soft once u cut through..amazing..we ate it by monday..My wife bought a chocolate muffin and the guy working took her picture and told us too look for it on fb..lol

I love their Apple Scrapple! Everything Ive tried there is good, and they always have free samples. Diplomacy on the part of the counter person I dealt with could stand some improvement.

Ive been going to great harvest bread for about 25 years. First as a child in Herndon and now in my adulthood at the Alexandria location. It has been a weekend tradition to get a slice of bread in the bakery and then buy a loaf (or two or three) to take home. At almost any store or restaurant, there is bound to be one thing I am not too fond of. I havent ever had anything I didnt 100% love from great harvest. I hope the owners keep doing what theyre doing!

Everything weve tried from Great Harvest has been some of the best--bread, muffins, cookies--weve had. You cant go wrong here.

Great selection. Wonderful staff. Heads up, this isnt a European style bakery. They make bread along with muffins, scones, quickbreads, and cookies, but thats about it pastry-wise (they will rotate in other sweets, too, though). The breads are eastern European style (think babka). Soft, pillowy, some are a touch sweet (not in the bad way). Come here for the soft, heavy, yummy breads. Dont look for baguettes here. They do sell sourdough, but its made in the soft crust style and isnt sour enough for me, so Id pass on that if youre expecting a typical loaf.

I love this place! We have a standing order for challah every Friday. My husband and I are divided on challah - he prefers very soft and doughy, but I find that underdone. Somehow this place manages a perfect bake for both of us.Weve also tried several other tasty treats. The pesto and cheese bread is fantastic toasted and covered in sliced tomatoes or dipped into soup. The scones are perfect with coffee for weekend breakfasts - Im partial to the cinnamon chip. The biscotti, lemon bars, cinnamon rolls, and short bread were also terrific. I dont think Ive ever had a dud at Great Harvest.

The cinnamon creamcheese scone was amazing, and the service was very friendly. A great place to start the morning with a cup of coffee.

This Great Harvest is pretty basic. If youre just looking for their signature bread or granola, youll find it here. The staff is nice enough & the no-frills vibe is reminiscent of old timey bakeries. My dad works at a Great Harvest & makes the best panini grilled pb&js. I wanted to have one, so I made the trek to this location only to find they dont serve sandwiches. I shouldve done my research ahead of time.

Great Harvest in Alexandria rocks! Always fresh bread and sweets. Check website for hours and daily and monthly specials. Best whole wheat bread, ever. Buy 12 loaves (any type) and 13th loaf is free. You know the folks there are proud of their products and take great care in preparing on site what they sell. The smell of the bakery starts ones salivary glands flowing and all of the days product on the racks get ones stomach growling for all the great tastes laid out before it.The sourdough bread I got today is *the*best*ever! Great texture, mouth-watering aroma, and marvelous sour flavor. All signs of a mature starter. I like Great Harvest Alexandrias version much better than the dark, chared, sometimes burnt tasting stuff that San Franciscans seem to all rave about. Besides that hard crust from the West coast hurts to bite into! The light-colored chewy crust and dense texture reminds me of my Grandmothers sourdough bread, biscuits, cobblers, and pancakes. In the late 1970s she was still using a starter that dated back to 1843. The loaf we got today at Great Harvest Alexandra was perfect for toasting, which really brings out its aroma and flavor. We had it with a robust Greek olive oil, fresh mozzarella, basil and Campari coctail tomatoes. The perfect combination for your wonderfully flavored sour dough bread. Thank you, Great Harvest, Alexandia for taking such pride In your product.

Best challah I have ever tasted!!!!. I do not eat bread because Im gluten intolerant but I tasted this challah and I was hypnotized. I cant stop thinking about it. I live in NYC and Im tempted to take a trip just to get some challah. They only make it on a Friday which means its always fresh and they are very generous with the raisins.
