This store has been open at this location for as long as I have been around (Im 33) and was where I got my first bicycle as a child (A green Diamondback city bike).The store is clean, well maintained and has staff that is knowledgeable and friendly. There is a great inventory of bikes to browse and the staff can make recommendations based on your preferences and desires.I cant recommend enough going here and visiting them.

Bought some kids bikes for my 7 and 8 year old children, and the Spokes-person in the store was fantastic to work with. We sized the bikes for the kids properly, got the best safety equipment, and were able to schedule pickup at a later time, too.I will return to spokes so that I can talk to live people, and see actual products, and know how it fits.

Service Manager Garrett Kostbar thoroughly inspected my used mountain bike, and printed out estimated costs for recommended parts and labor. He also compared costs for a new bike, which he advised would be suitable for me. His no-pressure and consumer-friendly attitude enabled me to decide what to do about my bike. He was very conscientious in answering my many questions despite the busy flow of customers in the store. I was very impressed by his professionalism, which validated my option to drive 35 minutes out of my way to visit Spoke etc. in Alexandria. (I live in Washington, DC, where there is no shortage of bike shops) I HIGHLY recommend Spokes etc.

Fantastic Bike Shop with Excellent Team. I cant say enough good things about the team at Spokes in Alexandria. Garrett and his team in the service department have built bikes for me and maintained them brilliantly. Their expertise is top notch, they are incredibly kind and patient, and the prices are more than reasonable. Roberto did a great job on a fitting and has been available whenever Ive needed him for follow up or answer even the dumbest of questions. Bill Mould has built three sets of wheels for me with both with an engineers precision and an artists eye for color and style. The sales team up front is knowledgeable, attentive, and engaging. There is nowhere else Id go for my biking needs. Ive referred several friends and will be delighted to continue doing so. I wish all my retail and service experiences were as positive as my interactions with Spokes!

Bought a Roubaix sport from this place due to the great reviews. The reviews were not an accurate representation of my experience.First off, I placed a down payment on the bike which took approx 3/4 months to arrive.-first visit - bike was assembled incorrectly and had to have break rotor replaced because oil leaked on it. Only found that out when taking bike for a test drive and heard the front breaks squeak. New rotor had to be ordered, took 1.5 months, no price break-second visit. New rotor comes in and bike was assembled. I take the wheel off, fluid comes out and gets all over my hand, store manager says that they can either tune it up or they can build me a new bike. I ask for a new bike to be built.-third visit. Pick up new bike, make the mistake of not test driving it. Take it home go for a ride, back gear doesn’t shift properly and chain drops on front gear. Take it back again.-fourth visit. Tech tunes bike, back rear gear shifts. Seems to work on front in the store. Take it on a 5 mile ride the other day chain drops again.... Looks like I’ll be going back for a fifth time.....Can’t stand this place.Not great experience for the price tag.

Spokes holds a special place in my heart. I’m not much of a bicyclist myself but growing up my dad and I were in here what felt like every week (during his racing days). Have nothing but good memories of the place and great experiences with all the employees. During Covid we dug out our old mountain bikes and needed a couple new tire tubes, ordered online and had a seamless in store pick up! Love this store, hope Spokes is around forever.

Called up looking for a Chainstay replacement and talked to Ray. Super helpful and listened to what I had to say. Told me he would call Specialized the following day since it was a weekend and ask them about replacement parts. Unfortunately Specialized was out of the part, but Ray called me back, left me a detailed voicemail, and sent me an email telling me what they said and even gave me some recommendations on local shops to repair my frame and talked me through my other options. Purchased two bikes from the Quaker Lane store in the past year and the customer service was far better than expected both times. Definitely dont make you feel uncomfortable if youre not a cycling expert. No-pressure selling. Just a great team answering questions and happy to make recommendations. In fact, on a gravel bike I purchased earlier this year, they actually recommended the cheaper bike because they thought it had better value/components. For someone just getting back into cycling after a long hiatus, it was a great experience.

Garret and his crew makes sure that you are satisfied with the services done on your bike. They take their time to make sure you have no questions as to how to maintain your bike from the time you take it out of the shop. The sales crew, like Cesar and Karl, are like bike products encyclopedia. They know what is good and not so good for you or your bike. Do not be afraid to pick their brains for any products. They will not upsell you but instead will show you what you should buy to get the most bang out of your hard earned money.

The Spokes staff are very knowledgeable and service-oriented. They made their delivery window and there was only a minor extra charge, so their price estimate was pretty good too. They are pricey but there arent many alternatives at this service level. To do better on price, youd have to learn how to do your own work. Overall, quite satisfied.

This is our second and possibly final new mountain bike purchase from spokes. Honestly I know you’re extremely busy with Covid, but I feel like you’ve lost the culture of taking care of your customers that spokes formerly had. (And for avoidance of doubt, these comments are completely directed at the sales team, not in anyway directed at the service team who has always provided us outstanding service.)First of all, after paying list price for a new mountain bike, I noticed that one of grips was damaged. We requested that since we are paying list price for the bike that they put on undamaged grips. The sales guy was uncertain if he could fulfill the request with a new pair of grips and so we ended up with a pair of used, but also damaged, grips on a brand new bike.In addition to that, when we purchased the bike, it had a kickstand. At pick up, as I was loading it in my car, I noticed there was no kickstand on the bike. I went back inside to inquire about that and was told that our sales guy should’ve notified us that there’s an additional charge for the kickstand that was on the bike at the time of purchase. The other sales guy offered to sell me a new kickstand instead of making it right. Needless to say I will go buy a kickstand from another source. This complete failure to correct issues is not the experience the customer should come to expect when paying list price for a brand new bike.

I am an new bike owner and was having difficulties with my chain and although the store (both retail and service) were extremely busy, all of the “Spokes Persons” were greatly hospitable. When It was my turn the Spoke Person greeted me warmly and asked how he could be of assistance and after explaining my issue, he confidently stated he could fix the issue within 15 minutes and he did indeed! After this first visit and the amazing customer service I received, I will most definitely be back!! Spread the word!

Great experience. Bill got me straight in to fix a spoke and true my wheel. Michael was fantastic, patiently fielding a ton of questions and introducing me to products I needed. As a recent car-free bike commuter, it was exactly what I needed.

Quick assessment of my issue (front and back brake adjustment for a bike I built myself). Service while I waited... in and out in 20 minutes. Correct fix--bikes wheels spin freely now. Friendly conversation! All in all a great customer service experience.

The manager and staff members at Spokes are TOP NOTCH. They helped me choose the perfect bike rack for my car/travel needs, helped me install it and learn how to use it, then helpfully replaced it when it broke on my first road trip (warranty covered it). 10/10 for whole visit!! Waited in line outside (everyone was respectful wearing masks/keeping distance) for my turn, which went very quickly. Sam greeted me and was very knowledgeable and friendly! After a quick review of my bike thankfully only minor work needed to be done. After 30 mins my bike was like new again!!! Sam was wonderful to work with and answered all of my questions! I just moved to the area and picked my new place because of its access to bike trails. First time entering the shop I was kindly greeted by Ray who introduced himself and asked how he could help service my bike. Very knowledgeable and honest. Talked me through what might be wrong with my bike and quickly diagnosed the problem. No price gouging, just fast and friendly service at a VERY reasonable price.I saw one person stop by while my bike was being worked on whose chain fell off and they didn’t know how to put it back on - one of the guys, Taylor (I believe), took the bike, put the chain on, filled the tires, and cycled through all of the gears to make sure it was all good and got them back on the road free of charge in 5-minutes. It’s a small thing but says something good about the place, the people who work there, and most importantly the customers who make up its community and come back time and again.I’m excited to have a friendly local bike shop and will be back.

So many things are admirable about your business. First, the service is excellent, from the actual work itself to the communication about it. Second, you have knowledgable and helpful staff. I always have the impression that Spokes must pay its employees pretty well, and I really hope that is true. In this day and age, great interpersonal interactions with knowledgable staff are entirely too rare. i know that I could purchase cheaper bikes, and get cheaper repairs, but I recognize the business for what it is, not only a great store with great stuff and service, but an asset to my community.
