Update to my original review.Returned today as my son’s bike had a flat tire and needed a new brake handle.30 minutes in and out - on a Saturday nonetheless! All for about $60 - a wonderful organization and team running this coop!!Every neighborhood should be so fortunate!!—————Great people - great place - best free advise Ive received in years!Stopped in today to get my sons bike fixed. He only just recently told me, Dad, I love the bike, but the brakes dont really work and well, neither do the gear shifters!?! (WTH??)Mike at the Bike Coop told me its be more money than the bike is worth to repair it, he said go to Target and return it - its not right and its just not safe! So I did, even though it was more than 90 days since I bought it, and amazingly Target gave me a full refund, no complaints or questions asked.I wouldnt have done this without your advise - thanks for keeping me from throwing my good money after bad!You guys rock!
Awesome place, very helpful staff. Got a rear flat on a nearby trail and they were able to help me out with a new tube and replacement within 15 minutes of me stopping in.
The team was really helpful, and encourages people to learn how to work on their own bikes. They offer great service and both new and used parts. Ill definitely be back for any tune-ups or parts I need in the future.
Owner was very nice and knowledgeable and gave me a fair price on my bike repair I was in the middle of a 40 mile ride and he fixed my bikes alignment in 5 minutes and I was back on my way, highly recommend!
I unfortunately had the same experience as many folks with poor customer service. The person that sold me a bike tube only took the time to essentially mansplain how broken my bike was (yes i know thats why im buying new parts!). I get this is a volunteer-run organization, but if volunteers are going to be disrespectful is it even worth it?
This is a great bike shop - friendly, awesome prices, and a very knowledgeable staff. In my case, my bike has old, hard-to-adjust cantilever brakes. The mechanics were able to adjust them perfectly - something three other shops couldnt do - and they only charged me $15! They did it while I waited, so I had a chance to watch them interact with a bunch of customers. With each one they listened to what they wanted, did their best to find them the right bike or part, and tried to get them the best value possible.Just bear in mind that they only do used bikes and gear. It is a great place to get a practical commuter, Sunday cruiser, or cool retro ride, and is also a good source for used and tough-to-locate older parts. You arent going to find a $5,000 carbon fiber racer, but there are plenty of other options in the area if that is what youre looking for.
Went to the coop sale on Sunday, 4/4, and purchased a beat-up bike which the Coop offered to repair and quoted around $250. The frame was comfortable, so I decided to go with this option. I lugged the bike home and then came back to the shop this week, only to be mansplained to by the person running the shop that well of course we sell bikes at the sale so that YOU can repair them yourselves, its not really worth our time to repair the bike. I was able to get a refund, but I felt disinformed by the people at the bike sale who a) underestimated the cost of the repairs (at least according to their colleague at the shop) and b) misrepresented the willingness of the Coop to repair it. And mostly, the guy at the shop was rude and condescending.
Awesome local shop! I called asking for a specific kind of bike and they were super helpful every step of the way! I love my new-to-me bike! Thank you so much!
I discovered this place about a year ago when I was looking for a bike that wouldnt break my bank account and 3 of the family members wanted bikes. I also later needed a reliable place to go to as I have absolutely no idea how to repair or maintenance bikes. The staff are good humored, reliable, and honest. Their repairs and advice, and overall, willingness to teach my 14 year old son how to repair his own bike ( and how to avoid breaking it more than necessary) is impressive. I have been exceedingly pleased with both their service and their products. I have gotten a (new) bike for my son as he managed to outgrow last years bike and also break it permanently in the process. The bike he got was a considerable upgrade and is fantastic.I have never had the issues with the store like one of the reviews. They have always been open when the website says it is. A gem in our community. In a community where generally one throws things away rather than gets quality and repairs it, this store is truly important to support and value.Outstanding.
Velocity has an all-star team of volunteers who assist this local non-profit serve our Del Ray community. I lived in a sober house in my early recovery and relied on a bike to get where I needed to go, and Christian (the founder) and Velocity were always welcoming and helped me to get where I needed to go. They also taught me how to make repairs to my own bike and were able to sell me recycled parts at low prices. Amazing store!!!!
So I dropped the bike off and I had one thing that I needed fixed on the bike and they kept the bike for three weeks and told me it was ready when I went to get the bike it was completely disassemble in pieces I will not be coming back here if I could give a no star that would be great.
Great for home mechanics in need of older parts or tools. I love coming here for odds and ends. If you know what your looking for, theres a great chance youll something at a very reasonable price.I recently came in with a VooDoo frameset and was able to buy and install and headset, bottom bracket and a few other bits. I got a terrific deal on some cranks along with cables/housing. I was able get most of the tricky install stuff done in the shop under an hour. They have all the tools for bottombrackets, brakes, etc. Ive even laced up hand-built wheels and finished tensioning them up here with their tools (15$/hour or visit which is a bargain for having full access to so many tools)The staff are knowledgable and enthusiastic to walk you through a repair. Of course, it can get busy so dont go in on a warm, sunny Saturday and expect handholding. Love this place. Please be here forever.
Youre in their way and they kind of hate you for it if you go there to work on your own bike. They dont have a separate area for people wanting to do their own work. Its incredibly awkward because you can feel their frustration for you being there, but if they hate that service, why offer it?? Russell is one of the least friendly people youre likely to meet - even to others that work there. Hes not angry, but he does wish to ever be spoken to and you know it when you ask him a question and he answers with a sigh at a very low volume. Im definitely not going back and Im happy to not be just another person sniffing their farts and telling them it smells like potpourri just because they call themselves a cooperative. They are a business hoping to stay alive in the era of Amazon so they differentiated themselves by claiming to do a bit of community service or whatever. Doing community service in Del Ray is a hilarious concept. How much community service is necessary in a neighborhood full of wealthy families and spotless streets? But the upper class just eats that kind of stuff up. One guy was decent to me after about an hour so they get 2 stars instead of 1. Enjoy.
Great shop! The staff was patient and helpful during the hour and a half we spent replacing parts and tuning up my daily commuter bike. It needed more work than I expected, but the folks at VeloCity took the time to help me through the process and taught me a ton. In the end, they just charged for parts and stand time. Great service. Lucky to have them in the community.
I had such an awesome experience here. Jim and Ron were amazing! The shop has DIY fix it sessions throughout the week (check the site) where employees show you how to fix your bike! I bought a used bike in rough shape, and brought it in thinking I’d be paying lots of money. In an hour I was riding!! I will definitely be back. This is the best and most affordable experience I’ve ever had at a bike shop. Thank you SO MUCH.
Decently priced bike shop, very affordable if you take advantage of the co-op. Super friendly owner. CALL BEFORE STOPPING BY. The online hours are spotty at best. Youll get great service once youre there, but finding a time when the shop is actually open is a struggle.
I moved to del ray in 2015 and this place changed how i own and ride a bike for good. theres nothing like knowing how to work on your own bike and these guys, whove done it forever, will show you how. its empowering (and really really affordable!) i live in dc now but go out of my way to come down here. i like to support them and velocity is way more affordable than repairs in, uh, every other shop in the area.bonus: theyve sold and stripped so many older bikes that you are virtually guaranteed to find what you need in their parts bin for anything from the 80s or 90s.definitely try to come here on their weeknights or on a weekday when they open, they get busy and its a lot harder to get consistent instruction when theyre busy. also: the warehouse sales are great and way cheaper than the big bike sale that comes up in dc a few times a year.
Staff were rude and appeared to be inconvenienced by customers asking questions. Both times I went to the store people were complaining about how unfriendly the staff are. Yes they did fix a bike properly and quickly. If you have the ability to go somewhere else, I would do that.
I felt very mislead considering the mission statement of this bike shop on its website. I came in to find some cheap replacement parts: pedals, broken wheel, and other minor parts. The EXTREMELY used and often incomplete bicycle parts at this place were priced VERY aggressively in my opinion when compared to NEW and obviously complete bicycle parts that you can buy online. They were selling HEAVILY used bicycles for almost new bicycle market prices. I thought to myself, why would anyone pay $700 for a heavily used bicycle when you can get a brand new bicycle from almost any of the local area bike shops for around that same price or a couple hundred dollars more. You would have to be deeply uninformed about the market to purchase anything from this place. The man that consulted me was very nice and charming, however, this place was a complete waste of my time and I felt pretty mislead. Within 10 minutes, it was obvious that their primary goal was to persuade me to purchase one of their $800 refurbished bikes. This bike shop advertises itself as a sort of non-profit to promote accessibility to the world of bicycling, however, when I looked at what they were selling and for what price - I didnt see anything non-profit in nature about this business. Id be very curious as to the IRS status of this place. It just seems like a very low-end second-hand bike shop with regular or high-end bike shop prices and some very strategic website marketing. They also, didnt seem to comfortable discussing their used bicycle parts inventory, but they were very comfortable discussing their process for ordering customers new bicycle parts, and even more so interested in explaining every way possible why you needed to buy one of their refurbished bicycles . This did not appear to me to be a second-hand bike shop but rather, a regular normal bike shop with some creative marketing about helping the community blah blah blah. This girl will never be back.
Knowledgeable folks who get you up and riding quickly. Highly recommend Velocity for bicycle purchases, parts, and maintenance.
I called to try to make an appointment to have a new bike tuned. When I mentioned I put it together myself (I had no idea bike shops were still open during covid) the man rudely let out a sigh of frustration. Sorry I was trying to support a local business. PS the “bike assembly” I did was just to put the handles, seat, pedals, and front wheel on. Its not like I put the gears, chain, and brakes together myself. Def not trying this place ever again. Arrogant jerk.
Excellent assistance and customer service. I came in with my wifes bicycle that we bought used 2nd hand, and Mike did an outstanding job assisting me in getting things all spiffed up. He helped walk me through how to adjust my brakes, check the gears, and tighten the pedals. I now feel I have the confidence to check on those things in the future, and it was all thanks to Mikes stellar customer service. 5/5 recommend!
Fast and professional service.
I went in and said I need a tuneup.Tuneup, eh? Lets take a look.He put it up on the stand, fixed my shifters, oiled my chain, and told me I didnt need a tuneup. I was in and out in ten minutes and for ten dollars when I was expecting to leave my bike for a couple of days and pay $50-100.
I love these guys. A non-profit bike shop open to community members who can work on their bikes is a great idea. The owner always has a crop of local kids hes training to be bike mechanics, and I love the vibe. Also the quality of work. My gals bike needed a complete tune up after not being ridden for a year or two and they put it into the best shape Ive ever seen it.
Customer Service was excellent. Prices on bike renewal phenomenal
Love having this shop in my neighborhood. I can wrench on all my bikes and my kids bikes, keeping them well adjusted and safe. Prices are awesome for used bits, very good for NOS items they get through donations. Bins of parts to pick through to build up your daily, winter beater, or project bike.
I simply cannot say enough good things about the guys at Velocity. My daughters bikes were really messed up from our move, and i thought wed need to but new ones. The guys there walked us through how to fix the bikes, gave us all the parts we needed, and made sure the bikes were sized and working properly. Truly great people doing an awesome service.
Really wanted to be supportive of a local bike shop so I called to see if they had any bikes in my size. I asked the guy that picked up the phone and he immediately sounded annoyed at the question (it’s a reasonable question, I think) and answered, “Maybe.” It was such an unexpected and weird answer I thought I misheard him so I asked him to repeat himself and he, again, just said, “Maybe.” I didn’t really know how to respond so he continued, “You have to come here and check.”Well, the point of calling ahead was so I WOULDN’T have to drive all the way there if they don’t have a bike in my size. I’ve dealt with plenty of shops before with highly dynamic inventories of used bikes. Any of them could and would answer a question this simple. I definitely understand the feelings of the other 1-2 star reviews here. I’m used to the cycling community being friendly and helpful. This was anything but.
I like the other workers there willing to help others with a smile, but the mean guy he needs to get his attitude in check, I heard him taking to someone on the phone with a really nasty temper. Thisll probably be my last time visiting this place if hes still their, I feel that one day he may lose it and hit someone with the tools.
Just wanted to say thank you to the guys for their help this past weekend. Showed up at their front door with a bike that had a broken brake cable grinding wheel in the front and a seized wheel in the back. Couldnt figure why it was so hard to pedal. They got me sorted and back on the street in a couple of hours. Awesome service. Thank you.
Solid bike shop. Very helpful and very affordable. Since it is a nonprofit, the hours arent exactly consistent. Id just call before going to make sure that theyre open.Awesome staff. Awesome atmosphere. Awesome shop.
These guys are great. Excellent atmosphere and encouraging and knowledgeable staff. If youre hoping to learn about bike mechanics and find affordable parts, this is the choice.
While Velocity almost always has affordable prices and a vast range of new and used bike parts, their staff is continually condescending and patronizing towards female customers. Until they improve their attitude and demeanor towards female riders, I choose to take my business elsewhere.
I had a great experience at this shop, I brought a old 2000 TREK up to get refreshed and while not really concerned with cost, the owner was hyper aware of what money I was spending. I normally go to Spokes, but I was very happy with the experience and the guy got me in and out in 2 hours. Same day, We need to direct traffic here, its a good bike shop. Local DC, this is a good bike shop!!
Shame you cant work at the shop anymore, but I understand for now.
Velocity is my new favorite bike shop! Christian was a great help in measuring and selecting parts for my bike build and Ron and Mike at the Wednesday night tune-ups patiently tutored me! A fantastic part to the Del Ray community.
Best bike shop Ive ever been to. Ive visited plenty of times but my most memorable of visits came last Thanksgiving when Christian had to leave to pick up his daughter and was closing the shop early but I needed a quick repair mid trail ride and stopped by. He stayed past closing to guide me through and was even late in picking up his daughter because of me. 5 star service! Wish I had a co op like this in the Tidewater area.
Make sure you thoroughly examine the bikes before you buy any of them. I was sold one of the worst bikes I’ve ever owned. I’m a bike courier so my income relies on me having a good functioning bike. Velocity sold me a used bike about a few months ago for about $200-300 that was bad from the start. During just the first week of using the bike I found out the chain/wheel had a problem that kept displacing the back wheel as well as the chain. Keep in mind I’m riding in the streets of DC so a problem like this could pose a big risk on my life. So I took my bike to a local shop in dc and they gave it a temporary fix by just putting my wheel back in place. While this said shop was fixing my bike they told me they couldn’t believe a store would sell me a bike in such condition. The same problem happened again the following day before I decided to take the bike back to velocity. The owner agreed to fix the problem for me and offered me a free wheel to make up for it. I agreed but deep down inside what I really wanted was a refund because I had a feeling the bike would have future problems. Low and behold the very next couple of days there seemed to be another issue, which I again took back to velocity to have fixed. They fixed the issue for free but the final straw came when the back end of my frame randomly broke while I was making a delivery, thereby making the bike absolutely useless. I wish I asked for a refund a while ago. It’s a bit ridiculous seeing as I once worked for this store which is why I trusted them to give me a functional bike.
Super awesome . Defiintely come here for whatever you need. I travelled from AU to this place for an uncommon part because none of the other shops had it. This one did! I also ended up staying to finish building my bike. Really nice people/company and super affordable all around. .
Brought my bike in for a tune up. Christian was quick, efficient, and my bike rides like new. MUCH more affordable than a big bike shop, too! Thanks guys!
I visited Velocity today for the first time and and now realize why people love this place. Down to earth people who are very helpful for even a beginner bike repair man like me.
They were incredibly helpful and patient with my wife whos new to cycling and their weekend workshop boosted her confidence in maintaining her bike. As long as we live in Alexandria well be giving VeloCity our business.
Bought a new bicycle here after my old one was stolen. Just went in and listed my price range and what Id be using it for and the owner found me one that worked perfectly for that. He tested everything in front of me to make sure it worked and fine tuned a few things as well. A few days later someone smashed my wheel in. I took it back to have it repaired, and after fixing it, they said they wouldnt be charging me. They treat their customers very well, and I would recommend going to them to anyone looking for a new bike or repairs
The entire staff is friendly, accessible, and most importantly knowledgeable. Would highly recommend for any biking needs from purchase to service.
Went there to get my sons bike fixed and received wonderful customer service great group of guys!
Had my bike shipped up from Arizona to the shop for reassembly and tune-up. Christian did a great job, taught me a few things, and charged me a very reasonable price. This will be my go-to shop from now on; good conversation, great place to learn, and get your hands dirty. Thanks.
Brought my old Gary Fisher bike in for a tune-up. The bike had been sitting in storage for about 8 years. Christian performed magic on making this bike look new, and only made the minimum repairs necessary. In other words, he didnt charge me for parts and servicing that I really didnt need, as so many other bicycle repair shops would have done. Highly recommend VeloCity!!! Thanks again, Christian! Youre the man!
If you are looking for a unique and typically affordable bike, this is a cool spot to check out. Also, they give tax write-off for donating old unused bikes, parts and accessories. So if you have something just sitting in your garage, drop it off for somebody to actually use.
Received excellent service in the store on March 3, 2018. Placed a call to the store on March 10, 2018 to follow up re a safety related question and was yelled at by an inpatient, distressed-sounding worker. (Much room for improvement on the part or that person.) Complained re March 10 interaction and once again received excellent service in the store on March 12, 2018.As a global citizen who is concerned about the pollution problem in China, I am happy that this Bike Shop carries bike parts from other, hopefully less polluted and polluting parts of the world. I purchased parts from Taiwan and France. Prayers for the pollution problem in our planet and I sincerely hope riding my bike more helps alleviate. With gratitude 🙏
Excellent experience. Fast, affordable service with do-it-yourself tips as he worked on my bike. Great casual, professional atmosphere. Definitely calling this our go-to bike shop.
If you’re lucky enough to get someone’s attention, prepare to get a snarky condescending response. Pretentious staff that makes you feel very unwelcome. Only redeeming factor is the quantity of tools. Been there multiple times and have yet to feel happy supporting a local business.
I took my bike which needed a lot of work, I was almost going to give up on it since the brakes were rusted from the rain, etc. the subject matter experts not only showed me how to change easily the parts that were rusted but helped me align the wheels, change the tune from the tire, etc and came out with a super bike. They are awesome instructor volunteers and the prices are super economical.
Great bike shop. They have tons of used parts for extremely cheap. Everyone there is helpful for cyclists of all skill levels. The place to go for your old or classic bike!
Good people with the right intentions. Really nice option to have for a quick bike fix
Very affordable bike tune ups, do it yourself service, and parts. You dont need to know anything for DIY, volunteers will help.Great charity programs. They also provide earn a bike programs for youth and conduct lots of bike clinics in underserved communities.Great volunteers too. If youre ever looking to learn more about bike mechanics, help the community become more bike friendly, or make a lot of cool new friends who like to drink beer and hang out, inquire about volunteering.
I took my ebike in for their self service area and had to put up with a hostile staff members help. Although I did learn some things about how to service my bike, I doubt Ill return to this place because of the overtly hostile environment. Its a shame because it really was that one toxic staff member who ruined things for me; otherwise itd have been just fine.
This place is great. i had a Mountain bike for my son that needed both a front derailer and a back derailer....and a chain. My son is 15 and pretty good with his hands. I figured it was time he learned a bit about bikes. The volunteer Victor was very helpful. We did over half the work but he helped with suggestions and the fine tweaking. I think some days they are a full service shop where they will do all the work maybe? The other days they give you a discounted rate of $15 an hour but you should definitely expect to get your hands dirty. They have boxes of used derailers...used brakes etc. I went through them and found some they said would work. Chain I bought new, very happy with final results. I think this is a great place if you have a kid who is halfway good with his hands, whos a teenager....to get the basics of bike maintenance. I saw a father bring in his little girl to get her tire fixed, probably fun for her too. Anyways, thank you, I love to fix things myself and want my kids to be able too as well. Perfect place for this!
The guys are really helpful and they have a good selection of used bikes and clothes. Love coming here!
Very knowledgeable about bikes and helps kids in the neighborhood. Great guy.
Sorry, I didnt realize my review didnt have words. My issues was that my husband and I went in looking to buy used bikes or learn more about what VeloCity had to offer in learning how to build one for ourselves. We ended up standing in the store looking at staff for a total of twenty-three minutes before we chose to left.Yes, staff was busy, but we were looked at and made eye contact with at least three different people mutiple times. Not one person greeted us. I understand if they are busy, but a simple hello, well be right with you would have sufficed. We couldve asked for help but after almost five minutes I wanted to see how long it would last.
Great place to keep your older bikes going. Good used parts place.
This is a nice place to learn to fix up your bike as well as obtain affordable parts. Its a practical solution for practical transportation.
Extremely knowledgeable on bike repair and bikes in general. Very low prices. All around just good people.
Russell really helped me out no questions asked - no frills, extremely affordable, with access to plenty of supplies, tools, and expert advice. I highly recommend for an easy experience with the added bonus of learning a bit about your bike at the same time.
Great service!!! Amazing staff
Helpful staff, just enough help to encourage you to repair and learn how to problem solve, and fix your own bike. not intrusive and has a good work life ballance, I would not be too surprised to see a gone fishing sign on the door. just to clarify, I have not seen the sign, just that it is not a clock watching, soleless shell of an establishment. keep up the good work.
Its a fantastic addition to Del Ray - the volunteers are experts and they have a sense of community to the group. Ive learned the basics there and benefitted from their patience (most of the time) and desire to get people on bikes. Always recommend it and always will go there.
I called Christian and asked if he could help me fix my bike. He said he had a lot of repairs to do and probably could not help me out today. Then he asked what I needed help with. I told him that my rear brakes were not staying centered. He said I could come in if that was all that needed fixing.Later, I went to the shop. Christian remembered me from my phone call. He immediately put my bike on the stand and showed me how to tighten my center-pull breaks. Then he showed me that my rear wheel was wobbling because the cones were off and the rear axle was bent. He showed me how to take my rear wheel off and then he ground down one of his tools so that he could make an adjustment to the cones (I think- he tried to explain it, but I didnt parse everything). He showed me how to straighten the rear derailleur, then he had me put the wheel back on and re-position the brakes. Now my bike works. The price was practically nothing.
Wow just amazing theyll help you fix it and great prices.
Knowledgeable staff, and a mission to teach you to care for your bike, not just fix it for you. Love it.
Thank you Russell for showing me how to change a tire and keeping the correct amount of tire pressure.
Came by with multiple projects, Russell, provided wisdom and guidance to fix every issue I could come up with. He was also able to true wheels that other bike shops gave up on. Things is now the only bike shop ill go to.
Call ahead. Published hours may or may not be adhered to. Great once youre in though!
I can sum up my experience in two words: Thank You! 🙂My entire rear derailer had torn off and the good folks here fixed it in a day.
Seems like great folks doing a great service to the community. Thank you.
There needs to be more places like this, very friendly and helpful people!
Helpful guys when I just needed a small part. In and out in 5min.
I have an old Nishiki Mountain bike that was built in 1993. Ever since I moved into the city a few years ago, I have used the bike a lot more frequently than I used to, in order to get around town. I originally came into the shop on Sunday to remedy a situation where the seat post was slipping down causing the bicycle seat to slip down with it. I met the lead mechanic Russell identified the problem as a seat post binder bolt. This was a 5-minute fix. The conversation then shifted to an issue regarding the crankshaft and chain slippage. On many occasions while peddling up hills, the chain would momentarily slip off of the sprocket causing an unsafe riding situation. This was a problem caused by the rear wheel axle that had become loose and wobbly. I had bought this bike new and it appears that the original builder installed this incorrectly. The rear axel is what connects to the pedal crank arms and pedals. The axle provides attachment of the bicycle wheel and also contains the sprocket set, and the bearings on which the wheel rotates. The bike frame has threads and provides the point of attachment for the rear axle. During the original build process, the hub shell portion of the rear axel was threaded into the frame at an angle, which should have been obviously straight and flush. Also, the axle bearings were never cleaned or repacked with grease every 500 miles and this cause additional wear and tear on the rear axel. Over time this caused stress on the bearings and rear axle, causing the pedals to wobble, and the chain to slip off.Russell assessed that the rear axle needed to be replaced. The pedal crank arms needed to be removed in order to acquire access to the bolt that holds the rear axle in place. The complication occurred when the crank left crank arm would not come off. It was completely sealed with rust and corrosion. We actually had to use a cutting tool in order to get the crank arm removed. This entire process of replacing the rear axle took over two hours. He mentioned to me that they rarely encounter repair situations as complicated as my bike. We were also very lucky that they had parts in the shop that would accommodate my 20-year-old bike.He then went on to replace the rapid-fire index shifter, which controls the front derailleur. Aside from the cutting process, and the removal of some bolts, I assisted with installing new cables for this. Russell gave me the instructions about how to first remove the brake lever housing from the handlebar. Participating in this job was a great learning experience, and it was a lot of fun to get my hands greasy again. Russell was patient, extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about fixing my bike. Replacing the axle and re-threading the bicycle frame not the type of project for a novice mechanic, and I am really glad that Russell was able to save my bike.I walked out of there paying a small fraction that a commercial bike shop would have charged. This place is awesome and the other volunteer mechanics that work there are top notch! It’s also a cool concept that you get the opportunity to help out with the fix. I wish all bike shops could be as great as the Velocity Bike Co-op, and I would definitely recommend this bike shop to anyone in the DC area. The guys who work there are people who ride bikes and know how to take care of them. If you should need a decent remanufactured bike, or perhaps get your bike going again, Russell will take care of you.
These guys are really knowledgeable about bikes and are happy to share that knowledge with you. They are the only shop Ill go to.
Fast service
Thank you Christ! It was tough but you did it!
Every community needs a bicycle coop!
Rude very rude
