The folks over at Dana Meyer are an absolute delight to work with. They are honest, friendly, and helpful. They do what they can to save you money, but theyre up front about the fixes your car needs. When talking to them, its obvious their main concern is getting your car up to spec. If something doesnt work with your budget, they tell you what can wait vs what is urgent. Weve been taking both our cars here for about three years. We wouldnt know where to go without them.

My car broke down on the free way one day on my way to work, I had it dropped off here since it was the closest to my work that worked with AAA, but I had no other experience with them. They took my car in immediately and gave me a full report only a few hours later. The woman who helped me was extremely nice and very helpful. Best experience with an auto shop I’ve ever had, highly recommend!

Just honest, kind people who care for and respect one another and that same respect and care translates to customer relations. The vehicle actually runs better after they touched it than before. They are centrally located and along the BART line. My only fear is the rash of Karens that try to take advantage of kind people. These people deserve kind customers.

She helped me out by calling to confirm receipt of my car from the tow truck, and made sure I was aware of what repairs were needed and when my car would be ready. Admittedly I have not used this business but I had a fantastic interaction with them. Called them needing to install a catalytic converter shield as soon as possible. They were out of stock at the time with my cars model but referred me to a nearby muffler business that was also fantastic and able to take care of my issue the same day. Great place! This shop is the ONLY shop that has been able to help me out with a check engine light/MAP sensor problem Ive been having for 2+ years. Prices were totally fair also; I will definitely be taking my car here again for future work.

Long story short, I knew my problem was not major and it was minor but wanted to double check and make sure. Its so sad that Im used to mechanics reporting back with major repairs and high costs to fix small simple things. I always end up sighing and looking for an alternative family friend quick fix etc. but this was with my old car that I didnt care much about. But this is a newer car and I knew I needed to find a reliable place to take it. So I called a few places (all of them telling me it could be something major and I would have to leave it a couple of days (nobody has time for that)) when I very well knew it wasnt. Dana Meyer kept my car for a few hours and reportes back to me it was a simple fix and my problem was only a tire rotation service and that I had cheap end tires causing some of the vibrating during driving. I laughed because this was the most honest answer I have ever had in my whole life from a mechanic shop. I was very pleased and will continue to bring my car with them. My catalytic convertor was stole from my Toyota Prius. Turn my car over to Jen. She parts were back ordered and the wait could be 2 - 4 weeks. I was surprised to hear back from her in 4 days telling convertor was replaced with a shield. Price was lower than estimate

I always have great confidence in the work being done at Dana Meyer Auto Care. I know that the work being done on my Honda Element is being completed professionally and thoroughly. The repairs needed are explained to me, and if they arent apparent when I brought the car in, they will call me and explain. Very approachable and knowledgeable staff.

At first I thought this place was great -- the employees were easy to talk to, transparent, and the garage offered ostensibly quality service. I initially came in for oil change and fluid check. My AC was inconsistently working and so I also requested that they take a look to identify the problem. No problem was detected and I was sent on my way. The next week the AC problem continued and I requested that they take another look. Again, no problem was detected. One week later my S-Belt snapped after my AC cut out for the umpteenth time. A new mechanic quickly identified that the root of the problem was a faulty AC compressor -- something that should have been easily identified by a DMAC mechanic. I could have saved myself a big headache and the additional expenses I had to pay for towing and the S-Belt replacement had I gone to a more knowledgeable mechanic in the first place. Sadly, I wont be coming back.

In my opinion, Dana Meyer Auto Care is probably one of the most respected automotive shops in the East Bay. Having been in business in a very competitive sector since 1975, it is obvious Dana is doing something right!I’d recently taken my mother in law’s Hyundia Tucson in for a routine service, which as you might guess went flawlessly. With being in business for 44 years, Dana has been able to collect top notch staff, from his service writers to his technicians. They are true professionals in every sense.Although my service was minor, I did witness the staff giving some very sound advice to a longtime customer. This customer had been bringing the same car to Dana’s for nearly 25 years; he LOVED the car. Unfortunately however, this car now has over 300,000 miles on it and needed extensive work. Even though the customer wanted to have the work done, the staff advised him that it was not worth it, and offered to help him find a new car, and inspect it for him prior to purchase! They turned down several thousand dollars in work to do the right thing for their longtime customer.It goes without saying, but I’ll state it anyway; Dana Meyer does business in a very ethical and trustworthy manner. The adjourning waiting room is a pleasant retreat with free coffee, tea, and chai — and the East Bays greatest collection of archival MAD Magazines. The services is always fast and thorough. My last check-up covered more than 20 inspection points and was wrapped up in under two hours. And the total cost was under $90. As usual, I left with a smile.

Dana and his team are honest and efficient. The work done on my 1980 Volvo wagon was quick and affordable. I enjoyed my experience and felt grateful to find a trustworthy and competent mechanic team. They worked with my car over the course of a week to diagnose the issue, and then fixed it right away. With 20,000 miles on the odometer since my previous visit six months ago, Dana Meyer Auto got me on the road again as promised within my two and a half hour window. Enjoyed the use of their comfortable waiting area with fresh brewed to order coffee and magazines (print media ! A forgotten luxury!). When my speedy oil change service told me I needed brake fluid, Dana Meyer Auto to the rescue! I stopped by for a quick top off and back on the road in less than 10 minutes at no cost!

A friend recommended Dana Meyer for a second opinion after I received a large take it or leave it list of problems with my 2004 Subaru Forester from another local shop. Dana realized that several of the problems required that the engine be dismantled and that it would cost less to do them together than to charge for each one separately. I am very skeptical of many mechanics for car repair and especially most dealers. Have seen dealers inflate an estimate and then reduce it by half when I objected to work already done, that didnt inspire confidence.With Dana we are paying more for oil changes, but we are getting a thorough honest check of the car and no inflated estimates. Honest is the key word, we can rely on Dana. My wife says it is because he was brought up with Quaker values, probably true.

Ive been driving for 46 years. Thats about a dozen cars and at least that many mechanics, in two different countries. I have never had as positive a service experience as Ive always had from Dana Meyer and his entire crew at Dana Meyer Auto Care. Servicing appointments are quick, smooth, and effortless. They consistently go the extra mile to make sure the car is in perfect running order, but never incur an unnecessary expense.I recently showed up unannounced after Id hit a plastic cone that had fallen onto the freeway, cracked my grill, and dislodged the undercover. It would have been perfectly routine for any other mechanic to schedule an appointment for another day, order a new part, profit from the margin, and charge for a couple of hours work removing the old one and installing the new one. (Thats what most garages would do -- even the reputable ones.) Instead, Danas team was able to accommodate me immediately while I waited, straightened and remounted the existing undercover, and only charged me for a couple of cotter pins and a half-hours work. That kind of integrity is rare in the automotive world.Dana Meyer Auto Care has a customer for life.

Although the young woman at the front desk does not seem to be happy working the other, older woman makes up for it with her genuine interest in helping. She is also very efficient and knowledgeable about what they can and can’t do. We took our car in for a full service and had two minor issues that we hadn’t dealt with since they popped up months ago (trunk not responding to key and dash lights going off when headlights on). When the car was done everything was taken care of, and there was no extra charge for the trunk or light issues.
