I had a hitch kit installed on my 2014 Nissan Frontier. It was installed incorrectly and it was causing my battery to be drained. My truck was dying multiple times a day and once I put two and two together I reinstalled the hitch kit the correct way and did away with the issue. The person who installed my hitch was in a hurry that day and was late to my appointment and rushed through the process which I believe affected the quality of the install.

Ive had the pleasure to work with Scott and his people a number of times for deliveries for clients that wouldnt fit into the context of our shops own vehicle - and Ive always received the best service. Even when theyve been booked out (which is just a thing that happens, as its a small, downtown lot) theyve at least been empathetic, and quick to let me know what my options were.Looking at a lot of the reviews on here - and to be sure, everyone makes mistakes - a lot of the negative ones speak to plenty of folks not understanding the business theyre reviewing, or what its like to try and solve the unsolvable.Customer service work is hard, and it pays to try to understand what the other side of the counter goes through on a day to day business. I can say for Scott and his cohorts, that if you take time to get to know them, theyre definitely thinking about the other side of the counter - even if they may not be able to solve for Wake Forest students renting every single box with wheels in the metro area.Its also handy that they carry a surprisingly wide array of things you might just need for a move or delivery, and that theyre not insanely overpriced.Very happy with their lot.

This is hands down the best place in Winston-Salem to rent a moving truck and get moving supplies. Ive never had a better moving truck rental experience. The manager, Scott, is why. Scott has a classic, old school customer service approach, and it is such a relief when you are in the midst of a stressful move. Scott bends over backwards to help customers get the best prices and not spend unnecessary money. His truck inventory is excellent. I rented a 15-footer and it was practically new, so easy to drive and got great fuel economy. The store stockpiles used boxes and packing material which you can pick up for free. The only hassle is the access because of downtown Winston-Salems one-way streets, and the lot itself is a little crowded. The staff manages this well, and all in all, its worth having to navigate downtown Winston to get the service Scott and his team provides.

Worst experience ever at a Uhaul location. I reserved an auto transport here and when I pull up to the attendant standing outside. I roll my window down and said hello, how are you today? He stood there with a grimace look on his face and said nothing. I asked him where can I park to go in and finish up my reservation. He acted like I wasnt welcome there and he then said just park over there somewhere out of the way. I said yes sir, no problem. I then go in to stand in line backed up to the door. I stand there for at least 20 minutes. One lady behind the counter runs out to the parking lot leaving everyone standing around looking at each other. After a few more minutes the man who kindly greeted me in the parking lot, yelled out who is here for the auto transport?, I raised my hand and said, me. He said, we dont have one. He then directed me to call Uhaul and request another reservation if I had to have one that day. Ha, I was dumbfounded. I then went back out to my truck and called Uhaul as directed. After being on hold for 20 minutes I reached a young man who kept apologizing and said he would transfer me to a local dispatch to locate me another auto transport. After I was transferred and them on hold for another 10 minutes, I was disconnected. I had perfect cell signal so I know it wasnt the cause. I then decided to call it a day and headed back on my 40 minute trip home and booked a wrecker to haul my car instead. I dont usually ever write reviews, but they deserve this one. They returned the truck I rented with the wrong milage and gas. So when I rent it everything is off. Gas is also on empty and the female GM could careless. As a mover I always try to stay clear of this place for this exact reason and recommend my customers to use third party dealers. Customer service is 10x better. Even with a mobile dispatch I still have to deal with their mistakes. I feel bad for the previous customer because they probably charged them 20K in milage. Not one apology, nothing. As a old Uhaul dealer for 13 years Uhaul wonders why this place doesnt capitalize on their traffic and this is why. Poor management and customer service.

We made a reservation 2 weeks ago to rent a trailer. When we went to pick it up this morning, they said they didnt have it and we need to go pick it up in the next town 13 miles a way. This was despite the fact that they had at least 2 of the same size trailers in their yard. If you rent from these people dont plan on them having youre trailer or truck when you arrive.

Reserved a trailer for a move weeks in advance. Get there and they tell they dont have any trailers. Isnt that the point of a reservation???? And I waited 20 minutes, including going through the whole photograph license routine just to be told that.

Scott Lambeth, Manager, went the extra 10 miles to get us on the road SAFELY! The harness on my car malfunctioned and rather than send me to a car repair place, identified the problem and installed a new one. The place was busy, but he stayed with me until all the work was done. So...now all lights work and we are in the road safe and sound! THANK YOU SCOTT for your kindness—-and expertise!!!

After reading many poor reviews of other U-Haul locations within the Winston-Salem, NC area, I decided to go with this one located on Marshall Street in downtown because it had the most positive comments. Im very glad that I did because they were open on Sunday which I needed plus Mr. Hadley was pleasant to work with. The store is clean, convenient, and well-stocked, plus they have a wide range of available truck sizes which are also clean and in good working order. If anyone is in need of a U-Haul, I definitely recommend this one.

This place was slow and disorganized. One person working there and they were on the phone while customers were piling up in a line 8 customers deep.

Super super slow service ...30min to return the vehicle...was waiting on another.....1 man service with multiple customers is not going to work.

Terrible service. They need to just close it down. The big girl was about to pass out hooking up a trailer. She gave me the oldest auto transport they had lol. Sounds like marching band when you come down the street. She didn’t want the have to do much work.

I couldn’t lift the trailer off my car and the guy was so rude to me after trying for 30 minutes and told me if I didn’t like the store to go somewhere else. I am a 60 year old woman and just didn’t have the strength to take the trailer off. I understand he was busy. Maybe he should hire more people so he doesn’t have to be rude.

Ordered a hitch and install online. Over a week to get an appointment. Showed up for appointment. No hitch, no one called, no one cared. Wasted time moving things around to be there.

Excellent spot down town! I was treated with respect and had some jokes along the way with the staff. Rented the truck and the Van & kept the Van extra few days with no problem. Im looking forward to renting another truck real soon to do some moving and I hope I have another great time doing business with them again.

I had a horrible experience. I could not reserve online so I had to call. I reserved a trailer and when I went to pick it up they handed me a in town move contract and I said I am bringing it to a different location. They employees said no problem but could not figure out how to change the reservation. I made it clear several times I was not bringing it back there and they were ok with it. The employees were turning ways customers and not answering phone calls and were laughing about it. I returned it 5 hours later and they charged me 5 times my rental rate because of they way the contract was written. This is unacceptable. I will dispute the charges in my credit card.

If I could give zero stars that would be my rating of the customer service at this place . Horrible experience, rude manager, will never rent here again . Please go elsewhere and don’t deal with these morons

We drove up to drop off the trailer we rented, and sat out front for 20 minutes with no acknowledgement from the people working there. When we finally went inside, the man at the desk yelled across the room, “You dropping off a trailer? We got no room. You gotta take it up the street.” I had to ask for an address. No apology. If I could give no stars, I would. Never again!!!

Bought a roof soft pack to carry items back to Wilmington NC after Hurricane Florence. It would not work with my roof supports.I never put it on my car.They would not give me a refund because I opened it. My question to the customer service lady how do i know if it will work if I dont open it?She just said no refund if its opened.Supposedly she asked her boss.Still no refund, not even a credit,Rude and cared less.Poor service Uhaul, poor service Marshall St. Store!!!Next time Amazon for sure!

I had an okay experience working with this downtown Uhaul. The website makes it easy to reserve and schedule a pickup for your truck but beware the hidden fees that come with buying boxes or supplies and the gas and refilling fees they have here. Make sure you read everything carefully. However, the trucks were new and clean and reliable.

I rented a uhaul last week. I needed to use the uhaul for longer than I originally requested. I called customer service and they told me it would be an additional $107 for 4 hours. I asked why when the truck itself (29.99) wasn’t even worth that much. The man couldn’t answer. I kept trying to call the store where I rented from and no one answered. I returned the truck and they charged me for two days and almost 6 gallons of gas. I literally used the truck for one day and only drove 12 miles. I contacted customer support because the company actually kept my deposit and was trying to charge my card more money. Customer support filed a dispute and gave the manager 3 days to respond and he has yet to do so. I even emailed him myself and got no response! Today I got an email saying I owe them $70 and if I didn’t pay then they would forward it to collections

I never bother writing a bad review but this storage facility needs to be put on the spot.Terrible facility! Terrible service! Fraudulent charges made against my account after I told them to take off auto payment. Took Hundreds out of my account 3 months after move out. Called to resolve and had the nerve to catch an attitude with me. FAIR WARNING do not do business here!0 stars!

Guy is a total douche. Dont drop off after hours! They will charge you every fee possible. I didnt choose this location. I was sent from another uhaul to this location. Bad mistake. After cleaning the truck and filling up this guy charged me a additional 70 dollars. Which of course he did without my knowledge. The previous location had already said the truck was good to go (not dirty and filled)but somehow this guy found that he need to charge me. Avoid avoid avoid!!!!!

Ordered a hitch for my vehicle through the Winston Salem location and scheduled an appointment for install for 9 days later. 7:30am on day of install, I receive a TEXT to say my hitch has not arrived. 3 phone calls to an office site answering service and and several hours later, I have still not received at call back to inform me when my hitch might even arrive. Amazon can ship the same hitch to arrive in 4 days. Will not bother to use this facility in the future.

I rented it out during the summer for almost 4 months. When unpacking my boxes all of my sheets and clothes were moldy and musty. I was told the unit I rented was climate controlled, but it clearly was not. The unit itself also looked dirty and there were spiders everywhere. However, that was just my experience. I don’t know if I was just unlucky or if that is how all of their units are like. So because of my experience I do not recommend this place.

BEWARE!!! These people will take you for every damn dime you got. They will not let you rent a pick up truck for 25.00 with a prepaid card but will let you get a uhaul truck instead for 99.00 with a prepaid card and when you take it back because you didn’t use it but for 4 hours they turn around and charge you 189.00. I will never again purchase a damn truck from this company again

I had a horrible experience with the way the service tech didnt check my car on the hookup and the so called safety chains came off! If they were hooked up properly that would never have happened! My car almost came off on the NJ turnpike! I will not let this rest until the damages to my car are fixed! I can send pics to this site!

Winston-Salem and the surrounding area has numerous U-Haul locations, this one is right in the middle of the city. The people working here are pleasant and polite and do a good job. The way everything is handled at all U-Haul locations is pretty uniform, and accomplishes the necessary tasks.

Unorganized mess! Line basically out the parking lot into the road because no one was checking in the rented vehicles. We were scheduled to pick up our van at 11:30 and didn’t leave the lot until after 12! Which messed up our scheduling and timing for the rest of the day. This made us run late to return the vehicle. We called to inform them that we were not going to be able to get it back by 4:30 it would probably be 5:00 5:30 at the latest because of the long wait we had early. They told us we HAD to have it back by then because someone else had rented out the van. They charged us another rental $20+ fee because of this.

I recently rented a storage space from U-Haul in Winston-Salem. The space does not have an elevator to get to the second floor. It is an old warehouse that is in disrepair. My unit does not have even have a light, so its hard to see when I get to my stuff. I would not recommend this storage space. Its not even open 24-hours. Very disappointed and am looking for a new space.

Hit or miss on the staff, some were great some were not. Good selection and turnaround time, however they forgot to put packing blankets in the van like I asked.

Staff is great. Storage unit is old, has a musty smell to it. If youre going to get a storage unit then you better buy some damprid otherwise youre going to be in trouble

It was a short notice trip that I take four times a year. I haul my mothers truck on an auto transport. She called me on Thursday before Good Friday and said she decided to go home that weekend. It surprised me and I had not booked the transporter. I went over and the attendant put me in the system for it five minutes before closing time. I came in first the ng that morning and she hooked it up, checked my lights and sent me on my way. I go to no other Uhaul place in W-S. Ive done this with them for the last two years and Im always pleased with the service.
