Very sad, no negotiation, way over priced, charges a fee to use credit card. When asking about the fees, and over charging, he no longer wanted to discuss business. Really? Anyone buying car should be aware of all their hidden fees. Definitely NOT great customer service and he is right I am not the right customer for someone so rude.

I cant say enough about how good the experience was with them. They responded to every question I had and every call and email I sent them. I went here not knowing anything about them. I just saw a car online that they happened to have on their lot that I liked.I showed up and met Jamie who immediately gave me the chance to test drive it. There were no high pressure sales tactics at all. It was super casual.After driving the car (a 2014 mustang convertible) of course I was interested in buying it.The only issue Ive had is that the heat does not work properly and ill have to get that fixed. While I feel they should have found that, at the same time they are very upfront about all sales being as is. If they had offered a warranty I would have bought it for sure.Very nice low pressure atmosphere. I would recommend them for sure. Just make sure you check the vehicle over yourself real well. I will buy again from them.

Thanks to the crew at Balkcum for making my wife’s Christmas. They had the right car at the right price. I’m fairly picky and like local cars since we don’t have much snow. This was a local trade bought new in Wilmington and has a clean car fax. They don’t cut corners. They could have chosen a much cheaper option but the van came with brand new Michelin’s! There are no slimy high pressure tactics or any “new car store” sales schemes. These guys have nice cars at fair prices. Ask me March30th, I would have said decent experience; however, I purchased a 14 Jeep Grand Cherokee from them. Not even 30 days later, I started smelling antifreeze called and spoke with JEFF BALKCUM (brother if owner) and my car was hesitating to crank. He told me that he can make an appointment with mechanic shop, Gary, but this was a Saturday and the shop was not open that Jeff will call first thing Monday. I waited to hear back Monday, no call, he forgot so I called and told him we spoke of this Saturday. He called shop and told me to drop Wednesday morning. I told him I needed a vehicle to drive as I have a small child and in event of emergency I needed to be able to go. We proceeded to tell me that the shop has to repot the issue and I pay for rental and get remibursed......um NO. I have no clue when this Gary guy will get to look at my car, nor will he call this warranty place. So, I called Jeff again and told him that he can have this car back and hung up and he called stating to come there Wednesday and he will give me car off lot..fine. Thursday comes and and I get a call that it is ready around 2:00pm. I could not make it back there that day as it is almost 40 minutes from my place and I work for the State. I picked my car up Friday afternoon. Last night 5/20/21, same issue again. hesitating to crank and the smell of antifreeze back. This is the exact same issue they supposedly fixed last time. They stated I had a small leak and the battery was dead. So my alternator has been powering this vehicle. I asked if alternator was checked has JEFF stated no cells in battery so I know alternator could have been affected as ALAN told me he drive this very vehicle and out about a 1,000 miles on it. I called today asked to speak to JEFF again, stated my car is having same issue and I took to a mechanic of my own to diagnose. He stated that he believes the alternator needs replaces and the antifreeze may have something to do with radiator that may have never really been addressed the first time and that a small leak will not cause it to overheat until the radiator is nearly cracked and I have a small child and drive to Atlanta frequently and this car leaves me stranded it will be a bad day for me initially them later. So, JEFF stated today to take my warranty and any ASE mechanic can work on it. They provided this third party warranty and should something not be covered it will be on Balkcum, I called JEFF he said to take where I had it looked at and have them try to find the problem that their mechanic could not find yet I was told a small leak was repaired and battery replaced. So he found something, I mentioned another vehicle to drive as this was an issue last time. He stated he did that as a favor to me even though the contract states rental cars are to be provided up to a certain $ a day. This is the second attempt to fix the EXACT same issues. My mechanic will not fix has he said this third party is something Balkcum provided and he is afraid warranty will be voided or payment will take too long. So he told me to take the Jeep there and leave it and said demanded money back. Per JEFF that WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!!! I will be calling them again and reporting to every outlet willing to listen media, BBB and if lemon then lawyer!!!!!

Balkcum Auto took such good care of me! Especially as a first time car buyer, I was nervous, but the employees there quickly put me at ease. Within minutes, I was behind the wheel test driving my first option. I ended up test driving a few more before landing on one I hadn’t expected to like at all. That’s one of the reasons I chose to go to this place when car shopping. The variety! They always had at least 4 good options for me whenever I looked at their website in the months before. They also really lived out what their website said about being “simple, stress-free, and fun”. (You HAVE to meet their resident cat by the way) After purchasing the vehicle, they even covered the cost of getting the Tire Pressure Monitoring System fixed. I was a little confused why I still had to pay $138.00 on tags at the DMV when I thought the $500.00 was for tags/fees. The lady at the DMV said that the previous owner of the vehicle owed fees and for me to get the tags and registration that the fee had to be paid.

Last August I was cruising through some ads for used Harleys. Although I live in Canada the US. market has better prices and way more selection. Besides I had purchased my 2004 Low Rider a year earlier in the US so I knew the drill for importing a bike into Canada. I stumbled on a sweet deal at Balkcum Auto and called the owner. He seemed nice enough and we agreed on a price and I gave him my credit card for the $500 he wanted to hold the bike. No documents were signed and no store policies were ever discussed. I then had to buy an airline ticket to fly down there so I could ride it home. During this process I found just as good a deal at a Canadian Harley dealer so I contacted Mr. Balkcum to see about getting my deposit back. This is where I have the problem. He refused to refund me saying that he had four other sales that he had missed out on by holding the bike for me. My response was that if it was that good a deal then he would have no problem refunding me my deposit because he could easily sell to someone else. He still has my money and even a Better Business Bureau complaint didnt cause him to budge. This place is not the place you want to do business withDo not buy from Balkcum Auto .period.

2011 Chevrolet Cruze, I traded in a 99 wrangler.. there is definitely a Nicholas Jones in your system. Cruze transmission went out in less than a year. Ridiculous. Couldn’t even be rebuilt. Can’t trust their vehicles.

I have bought a couple of used cars from Balkcum over several years. I have been very satisfied with the quality of the cars I have bought. I have also been very happy with the overall experience of doing business with Jon and his staff. They are honest and caring and have been in the used car business for many years.

I recently purchased a GMC Yukon 2013 from Balkcum Auto. This is the third car in 30 years that I purchased from Balkcum. I have been driving cars for my sons business for over a year and know what a good car solid car drives like. So when I went to the Balkcum Auto on the day I decided that I would spend a certain amount of money for either a truck or an SUV. I saw the Yukon GMC white and drove it and it really drove really well. Not great on gas but price are low now.All the paperwork was done by the people at Balkcum, I received a loan to a credit agency in within a day or two days I had the vehicle. Bought a car several months ago. While test driving, I noticed the check engine light was on. They looked at it and said it was a gas cap error or some BS. The light still comes on periodically for a short time. They offered to give me a 6 month warranty. I thought all was good only to find out that there error is an intake manifold, a $650 repair that is not included in the warranty because it is not hard lubricated part. The other minor thing is that the car did not have a jack. I was told they would order one and it would be a couple of weeks. I have followed up with them a couple of times. No luck. I gave up on the jack a couple of months ago. I will say the buying experience was OK. Other than that, it is a typical risky used car lot.

I was in looking for a good pre-owned car on a Saturday and called about one they had listed online, from that call forward I was treated with respect. When I walked in it wasnt the normal Car Lot Feeling where I felt like a wounded fish surrounded by sharks. The salesman I worked with Jamie was very nice and had a GREAT attitude. No one there had the Buy something or leave personality. And from there to the fellow that did the financing was great. Due to a few spots on my credit the finance person Britton did NOT have the attitude More money or no ride, he searched around until we could make the deal work. The whole experience was great from the time I walked in, until the time I left. Speaking of the time there, from the time I walked in until the time I left which included a test drive, I was there maybe 1-1/2 hours, 2 at the most, out of ALL the cars Ive ever bought, its always been at least 4 hours minimum ... Got a vehicle from them and they told me in the office it had a 90 day 3k mile warranty but when I called about a problem they said because they lowered the price since I have to pay sc taxes the warranty wasnt included because they didnt make nothing off the car. They dropped it $500 and I came with a check no financing through them rip offs!!!

I went to baulkcum auto last Friday hoping I could get financed and trade my “ol faithful” ( name of my Chevy trailblazer) in! I was so stressed out!! When I got their a guy (can’t remember his name sorry!!) came out and greeted us. I told him to give me a minute and he told me to take my time. Needless to say he traded my “ol faithful”in and I was able to leave their with a 2011 Chevy triverese. He guy was very patient and kind with me. Their was no pressure at all!!
