Rocky Mountain Forest have such great employees from my two sales people Jeff at the Falcon address and John at the Denver location. Both hustled for me so I could have my material the next day. Both drivers James in Falcon unloaded a whole flat bed by himself for me what a doll. And Robbie just came from falcon and unloaded all my material too! He was so fast that I didn’t even know he was out there. I bought high end material and I am very happy with the materials I received. Thanks great company.

Be careful what you are ordering! If you order any standard product and not premium you get ZERO service afterwards and they will refuse to do anything about unusable wood. We had placed an order for almost 7k in wood total. Of the order for 4x4s 16% of them were bad/rotting and they refused to do anything to rectify the situation. I would be ok if it had been 5% give or take, but 16% of the 4x4 posts being unusable is unacceptable. I sent pics on 7/22 and never heard back from Dan.I called them to follow up and was told he was off. I spoke to 3 others that day and let them know I needed it by this Friday. Speaking to Brian he said he was going to have to c all and see if he can arrange delivery and would call back... surprise!!! He never called back. Be cautious of what you get. If you cant pick out what you are getting be prepared to have unusable wood. Pics are attached.

They were helpful in designing our porch. Chris showed us the available products that would suit our needs. He created a parts list with exact costs. As the design changed he kept on top of everything so that ordering and pick up went smoothly.

I have been communicating with Derek primarily and a couple other reps at Rocky Mountain Forest Products since March to figure out exotic wood products for a new deck. I loved the patience, extensive information, and support received during the few months of off and on communication. The products are fairly priced and beautiful. Everyone I talked to was helpful, knew their stuff, and seemed genuinely glad I was there. Exactly the opposite of what I have come to expect in the box stores. I would drive the extra 40 minutes and spend the extra couple of bucks to go back and buy timber supplies here in a heartbeat.

Employees were great: courteous, helpful and prompt. Yard person explained that it would take a little longer because he had to open a new crate. My only issue was the amount of dust in the yard, appalling.

When I went there a few years ago and paid for my materials inadvance then we went to the yard and I started to pick up a board to check for straightness the guy that collected my money told me to put it down. WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS IS HOME DEPOT. And he proceeded to pick the material I had paid for with no regard for straightness or quality. I have never been nor will I ever go back. And havent said a good thing about them since. And for the quality I got I paid them more than I would have had I gone to HOME DEPOT.

Ryan was great in helping me get lumber ordered for a pergola we wanted to build, including some special order items. The yard guys made loading up easy, and all the wood was in great shape. Very happy with the result, and they were almost 30% cheaper than the other store I called.

Buy your wood at Lowes or Home Depot, where you can select your own pieces. It will be cheaper as well because damaged wood is sold at a 70% discount at these stores.Here, they pull everything for you. During loading, I noticed that some piece were severely damaged, and they would not pull new wood even though I had purchased premium. I was told to go back in the store, do a return, and then come back out to exchange the wood. For standard wood, they said I had already purchased it, and I had no choice but to take whatever they pulled, no matter how bad it looks. You can also expect to spend over 2 hours waiting in line because they only have two skid loaders running.Almost every 4x4 post they sold was severely damaged and most of the 2x4s as well. I could not attach photos of the worst pieces because I had already covered them with pickets.

Very helpful staff. Called ahead for a quote(and paid) and we were in and out of the yard in 15min.

Terrible! I’ve been no showed twice on deliveries. When they finally made it over, the order was wrong with missing and broken pieces. Called multiple times to get the issue solved with no success. Both employees and supervisors were apathetic and unresponsive. I’ll never buy from this store again. Many other quality suppliers out there

As a driver delivering product to this yard I was frustrated by the fact the directions do not indicate there is a back gate off of 49th St that is much easier to get a large truck in rather than the front gate which is where the address takes you. Also frustrated by calling to speak to receiving. The phone was promptly answered by sales staff, but went to voice mail when transferred to receiving and no call back when message was left. I Was told to back out of the yard and untarp in the street, granted, the yard isn’t big enough to roll up tarps, but some type of information about possibly untarping at the TA close by would be nice. Unloading went smoothly and quickly after I got pulled back into the yard and the staff was friendly. Better directions and signage would help tremendously.

I tried to go above and beyond for a customer and I was greeted with: I cant help you, we closed at 11:45; when I was there at 11:49... They wouldnt let me pay cash, and unfortunately refused to go above and beyond for their customer. I drove 40 miles across town under the assumption (as google says) that they were open till noon. They couldnt grab me one piece of siding because I was 5 min late. You keep customers by making things happen for them. These guys cant even keep their word on when they stay open till. These guys left me dead in the water.

My entrance was greeted by a group of very polite and helpful staff. As soon as they found out I was still in planning, they got John Davis to assist me. We had a good discussion and his expertise helped me very much. I left with two possible solutions and their relative costs. At no time did I feel any pressure to buy a product I might not really want. My wife and I looked at our budget and made our choice. When I returned to RMFP, John greeted me and we sat down working out details. We reached agreement and John made all arrangements for payment and delivery. It was a pleasure. My products were delivered on time and in good condition by a good person who set the products exactly where I wanted. He was a pleasure to work with. I support RMFP as a supply source for any of my future products and will not hesitate to recommend to my friends. Thanks, guys, for all the help.

I would not recommend them.They may be good for big contractors or regulars, but if you are new to the area, they will sell your materials right out from underneath you... after youve already paid for them. It happened to me two times within two days.I have found several better locations, but I wont list them here because I dont want this review taken down for conflict of interest. Just find a better local vendor. Theyre out there.

I purchased 6 fence slats on November 25, 2020 and when I made the purchases the sales person encouraged me buy extra just in case I need them. He told me that I can always return the extra if i didnt use them. He NEVER mentioned that I only have 30 days to do the return. Went to return the slats today, 1/5/2020 and was told I couldnt return them because its way past the 30 return window. With the holidays I would expect a company that wants return business, to extend the return window. However, thats their policy and their prerogative and its my prerogative to buy elsewhere, which Ill do. I will never shop there again.

Store was recommended to me by a friend for building a wood fence. Similar to reviews below, customer service was always slow in the 4 times I visited (even during off hours). Even if there are 4 free customers service reps at the counter, you have to wait for the person who helped you on the phone, the others wont help you with even a simple return.Multiple times when visiting during off hours I waited nearly 2 hours to be loaded/unloaded. Even with no one there I spend nearly 30 minutes returning 11 pickets.This place might work for contractors, but I wouldnt recommend for personal projects.

Prices for cedar were much better than the big box stores.

At first it seemed like a good idea. Salesman was helpful, easy to work with and worked out a good deal for posts, rails, and cedar pickets to replace a fence. He said that they didnt have them in stock, but were expecting a truck last week so they should be available any day. Because of the sale price, he wanted payment, and although I am usually wary, I agreed and paid. The salesman happily took my money and promised to call when the order was ready, although he said I could have the posts and rails now. This was the end of May. In mid-June I called and left a message with the salesman. Several days later I called and left another message. A week later I called and left a third message. Finally, Friday afternoon, just after 4th of July weekend, a call back. Hey, your supplies are in, theyre going like hotcakes. Huh. Monday afternoon I call and salesman isnt available, but go figure, we sold out over the weekend, we wont have anything for a while. So I asked to cancel the order and get my money back and was told, youll have to talk to the salesman, you want to leave a message? No, not really, but I did. And go figure, in a burst of consistency, he is still not returning phone calls. Polite, professional, but buyer beware.

John went above and beyond to make sure my questions were answered and that I had the upmost professional experience with the company. He gave me literature and samples to help make the decisions easier and i was able to see products against the house color.

I purchases over 200 pickets at the beginning of the summer.. Now half of them are either split or bowed. I called to complain they told thirty days is all they are guaranteed time frame. I put up 200 of Home Depot up 15 years ago and they didnt do this at all.I purchases their premium pickets from Rocky Mountain. I feel.i wasted my money with these guys. BEWARE!!!GREG SMITHL

Also was impressed by the very clean office space and the very organized warehouse in the back where they store the lumber. Lastly the lumber at this location is much better then you can get at Home Depot so if you are looking for quality this should be your first stop

JD gave me a very quick turnaround on two different quotes. Based on an in-person meeting where he reviewed my rough sketch he gave me great detail on the exact materials I needed and helped me come up with the best option. Based on the immaculate appearance of the showroom I am sure that the materials will be top grade.No change to my review except for fixing two typos.

Great service, decent price point. Good option for contractors and DIY-era. I purchased all materials (except nails) for 160 linear ft privacy fence. No issues with any “reject” posts or pickets. Was also really helpful how simple it is to pick up partial loads and make multiple trips if you can’t for everything in your vehicle.

I began with a contact to RMFP in the spring as I had anticipated a need for some fencing and wanted pricing. Carlos was responsive and well detailed. A couple days ago I hand the need for fence solidify and again I found him very responsive In modifications needed to my bid.On arriving to the yard they were all helpful and my order was bundled and professionally placed on our trailer. Could not have been more expertly packaged.I will be doing more fences and will be a repeat customer.

My experience has been a nightmare with this company I ordered several pickets and after waiting 2 1/2 weeks come to find out they were flat tops and not dog ears I was not told that. When I ordered these I said I need a dog ear. They were quick to get my money. And when I went that day to pick them up they told me that they only have the 6 ft pickets and the 8 ft will be in within two days. That wasn’t true, I waited 3 1/2 weeks to get the 8ft pickets. Come to find out after waiting 2 weeks they were flat top pickets, not dog ears. It was too late to cancel.I already waited two weeks. I had to pay my contractor extra to cut all the pickets to match the other pickets. I was told that they will make it right and that they will take care of me and give me a discount or something it’s been already a week and I haven’t heard anything they won’t return my calls or anything. I was interested to buy more material to build my pergola but not going to happen now.

First experience with these guys and it was great. Super service. I was buying cedar fence boards and the big boxes have zero of the one style they carry. RMFP has like 3-4 style/colors with stock of all.One thing of note, it’s a real lumber yard. First stop at the office to place your order then back to the yard for loading. No pushing carts of lumber through the checkout line. ++

My husband and I came to Rocky Mountain Forest product for about 185 feet of cedar fence back in July. The first time we called on a Wednesday after receiving a quote, they told us they had everything and we didn’t need to worry about prepaying. 2 days later, they ran out of pickets and told us without taking $2200, they couldn’t even tell us when the next shipment would be in. Fast forward 8 weeks and poor communication later, we finally get a call that our product is in. We call to let them know it would be about a week before we can pick it up, they say okay, that’s fine, we will pull it aside for you. Today, we go to pick up our product after verifying again yesterday that our product was good to go, and they tell us they ran out of the cheaper 2X4s so they had to give us the premium ones and we have to pay an extra $100. On top of that, they gave us half premium pickets and half cheap pickets because again, they sold the product out from under neath us after telling us they’d pull it aside. None of this would have been that big of a deal if we hadn’t already paid for the product with multiple verifications that it was there and ready for us. Poor customer service and poor product availability.

Yeah it was my first time ever dealing with Rocky Mountain Forest products personally. I indirectly have bought several products from them in the past but usually through one of my subs or third-party supplier. I knew that they were there but was it really motivated to do business with them until assistant did a little Price shopping for me and literally they cut my rough Cedar material price in half. I have to say I like the way they do business, and it seems that theyre going to do what it takes to retain my business. Thank you Rocky Mountain Forest products and thank you Derek for the excellent service and Ill probably come back again tomorrow.

Ordered (and paid for) a few hundred fence pickets on Monday, asked if they were in stock and was told they were. Salesman asked when I would be picking them up and I told him Thursday. On Thursday, drove an hour to get to their yards only to be told they had none in stock but may next week. Had them cancel my order. Im not driving down again. I understand cedar is in short supply now. But was told they were IN STOCK and PAID for them. No notification they were no longer in stock either. That just plain unprofessional.

Every interaction with this place has been stressful and frustrating. I went to pick up pickets I had already paid for, and they only had a small percentage of what I bought. They werent back in stock until a week later. Not sure what kind of business sells merchandise they dont have. Some posts I bought were badly damaged, some had been cut half way through with a saw, and they refused to let me trade them until I made a big deal out of it. After waiting a week and driving 30 min again to pick up the rest of my pickets, I had forgotten my receipt at home. I figured theyd have my information on file and it wouldnt be a big deal, but boy was I wrong. They wanted me to drive back home and grab it, but it took some massive convincing to let them accept a picture my wife had taken of it. The guys loading wood in the back were mostly rude with a few exceptions. Every trip Ive made to this place Ive experienced some of the worst customer service. It only deserves a second star because a couple of things were made right when I complained enough, but it certainly doesnt make up for the aggravation, and one shouldnt have to complain in order to be treated properly.

Absolutely HORRIBLE experience with this company. We are Contractors from Kansas City and drove to Colorado to build a fence for my aunt and her husband. They ordered the materials from this company, on August 3rd. - To be picked up YESTERDAY. We rented a U-haul, showed up, they helped 6 customers that came in after us, didnt have one thing pulled and ready for us. So we waited around for them to get us concrete and posts... They had No 2x4s, no picketts. They told us to come back this morning, SO we paid to keep the U-haul another day, and went to BOTH yards they have. The one they told us would have the materials ready for us in the morning, had nothing for us. So we went to the original one. Mind you, it has been paid for in advance. They told us, they were getting a delivery yesterday afternoon, with every thing we needed on it. So we go into the office, ask about our materials and they sold our *****already purchased****** materials. For the second time in 2 days. Their solution? They will refund the money... Which will take 5-10 business! What a JOKE!!

I’m willing to change this to a three if they make it right but...I ordered a bunch of fence material and the employee I was working with was fired so my emails asking about the order were not being answered. My order was not filled for two months.I was patient because of the lumber shortage. Once they realized their mistake (after me calling) the eventually delivered my materials but didn’t bring the posts.Maybe this will get remedied but as of now I’m very frustrated.Update:Problem solved. Still frustrated with the fact they weren’t monitoring a fired employee’s email but I’m cool.

These guys are great! I used them a lot the last few years to get cedar for a fence I built, and a roof cover over my deck. They are friendly, fast, and have good prices.

Unless you have over an hour to wait for pickup, select some place else. No idea how they can claim great service. For large orders delivery may be a viable option.

I am new to the Denver area and my realtor recommended that I go to Rocky Mountain Forest Products for my fencing that the wind blew down a couple of weeks ago. I went to several of the big box stores to compare quality and prices. NO COMPARISON. The quality at RMFP is head and shoulders above the products at the box stores. In this time of economic distress, doing business with a local as compared to a national was a no-brainer. Oh, and the price. RMFP was about 15% less on $2000 of fencing. And my salesman was great, Frankie thinks he is a comedian, but he better keep his day job! He was very helpful.

The whole process at Rocky Mountain Forest Products can be best described as; a seamless transaction with a level of professionalism sought after by both the consumer and what all employers look for on their crews today. RMFP is the place for exterior hardwoods. It feels and is run like a real lumber yard, remember those? not a box store. The material was top quality and priced very fairly. Our salesman, John was a knowledgeable, patient, honest professional...remember those?Ill keep coming back. -JD

The standard grade fencing material I bought was worse than what youd get at a big box store for a similar price. 25-30% of the 2x4s and 4x4s I bought were badly split, rotted, or otherwise damaged (their website says 10-15% is typical for that grade). The premium cedar pickets that I ordered were high quality though.I also mistakenly trusted their associate to sell me the appropriate amount of material for my project - I had calculated one figure and the salesperson convinced me to buy way more than I needed, even with the excess waste. Not cool. Luckily this was a small project.I’d say go with RMFP for premium products that come with a return policy, but opt for another retailer for standard, non-returnable materials.

There facility on 44th in Wheat Ridge is very well maintained and can provide you with ideas for future projects. Staff is friendly and helpful. Products are of high quality and the lumber was clearly a cut above the big box stores. I was worried all of this was gonna cost me substantially more than a big box store but the pricing was much better than expected, especially for a 6x6x8 cedar post that you can’t get at a big box store.I’ll be back for any other lumber projects I have.

I dont do much comparison shopping and have no idea of what my competitors charge. Rocky Mountain Forest Products is one of our vendors because we use the best materials that we can obtain. Im not saying all of their products are premium grade, but they do have the quality that we require for certain items. I recommend them to my customers when they want to purchase material themselves because they sell to the public. The yard guys are fast, and they painted arrows and parking spots which keeps things more efficient. You have to consider that they deal with contractors as well as customers who are only picking up smaller orders.This took way longer than a few minutes and I will probably never write another review again.

You cant pick lumber here and they give you no return options or guarantees that the lumber they pull will be usable. I was looking to buy a smaller order for some repair work and the guy on the phone was shockingly short and snippy on the phone when I brought up that I didnt want any twisted or cracked pieces. He told this is how weve been doing business for 50 years and basically if I didnt like it too bad.

As a general contractor I have found the stuff at Rocky Mountain Forest products to be very helpful interfacing with me and our subcontractors.

The guy that loaded me up wasn’t very friendly but I wasn’t there to make friends. I got the basic lumber to build my fence which cannot be returned but I only got one bad 2x4, picket and one 4x4 had a bit of a bow in it but aside from that, the lumber was really good and a really decent price considering the “great covid lumber shortage” of 2020. I’ll definitely be back when I replace the rest of my fence.

Tanner Rogers at RMFP did a fantastic job in quoting and supplying the materials for my deck. I went with Fiberon decking and Fortress railing. RMFP delivered the materials to my home on-time and picked up the unused materials and offered a credit. Tanner went above and beyond my expectations and kept in contact with me regularly during my deck building process. He was able to find an alternate contractor (SRI Decks) when the first contractor fell through. I highly recommend Tanner Rogers and RMFP and I will definitely use them again!
