The best smoked whitefish in Los Angeles. Their fruits and vegetables are a bargain. It takes a long time to check out but it’s well worth it.

Really great, standard Russian grocery store. I saw reviews saying the staff is rude which isnt true at all. I dont speak Russian and they are very nice to me (also saw a review saying they dont speak English - not true they speak great English). Overall great place with a lot of options. Their homemade vinegret salad is amazing!!

Im not going to lie this feels a little bit like a store that your parents went to in a small village: stuff is kind of everywhere and you have to know your way around European foods BUT the pierogi are deliciousand the poppy seed cake is amazing and they have really really fantastic pickles as well as homemade cabbage. The ladies are super friendly once you get to know them

Very nice place. It feels and looks like exact Soviet Union style grocery store but with a lot of foods from former USSR countries.

It was a small, hole-in-the-wall grocery store specializing in Russian products — which is why I wanted to experience it :) It reminded me of one of those mom and pop stores I used to frequent when I was little.It was small but for the size, I thought it had a variety of things from meat, fresh produce to teas and snacks and ready-to-eat food.Reading other reviews, I guess you might want to take precautions on expiration dates and freshness of their products, but for me I had a pleasant experience. The pomegranates they had were the largest pomegranates I’ve seen!! And it was super juicy, sweet and fresh! Also they had exotic fruits I didn’t find in any other grocery stores.I got two different kinds of kefirs which I also didn’t see in any other stores I’ve been to. (The keifrs tasted good as well) It was definitely an interesting, fun experience for me. I’d like to go back there, but I’ll probably take more caution for freshness :)

The store is too far from where I live, which makes it difficult to shop there often. I recently bought cheese blintzes and other groceries at the store. I do enjoy them for breakfast or brunch and they are absolutely delicious. When I got home, I was delighted to have a cup of tea with the blintzes. Unfortunaly, they were overwhelmingly salty, and I felt completely wiped out. Wasted $12, had to throw it away. Even though it isnt a big loss, it doesnt give it any good credit. On the whole, the staff is nice.

My favorite place in LA to get Russian groceries. Not only you get products found only in former USSR countries, but service and music and even other customers are also very authentic. I enjoy every single visit to Odessa Grocery.

I was in LA for work and wanted to stop by the Russian store. We don’t have it in our area. Drove to them on Sunday at 7:20. It says on google maps that they are close on 7:30. As I was about to walk in the shut the door. Even though there is still 10 min. Very disrespectful.

So lovely to go to a store where you can get yourself some food from home! And people who work there are so nice! Once they even have me a free chocolate to share with my American friends 😭 Please go and enjoy yourself trying something new!!!

Wonderful Place for great fresh produce and Russian delicacies. Tomatoes are especially good. Smoked fish, and Wursts abound as does a plethora of interesting pickled things from Beets to Herring. I just wish they spoke English - AT ALL!

If you are a local who wants to try some eastern European flavors, you should definitely check this place out. Really nice Russian market that has pretty much everything you could think of. The only problem is the parking, but the food and their produce is great. The staff is also friendly and helpful.

Great selection of russian imported products, meats, dairy products, sweets and baked goods. Theres usually long lines but that usually guarantees fresh produce being available.

Great market for various Russian items. However, the set up makes it impossible to walk in and out. The deli and cashier are the same person, so youre bound to wait for several minutes while waiting to buy one item off the shelf.

Thats small but very good Ukrainian grocery. If you love Russian/Ukrainian food, you can find everything you want.

Not the best Russian store. Not a lot of variety of stuff and the groceries are not that fresh. But the most annoying and time consuming part is the line to the cashier! They have 2 cash registers and both of them behind the fridge with meat and cakes. So if anyone needs meat or a desert, both of the ladies decide that the cash register is not a priority anymore and start really really slow cutting the meat while talking to each other about the song that’s or something along those lines. While they have their sweet little chat, EVERYONE have to wait for them to finish. Keep in mind that almost every single person comes there for the meat.Don’t waste your time go to the different one.I’m done.

I speak Russian but my woman is Black American, didn’t wanna associate the whole store with the racist incident that is described in one of the comments. I guess they learnt from their ignorant mistake.You gotta always assume that Slavyan people have very tribal and racist mindset, I grew up among them as being “black” over there. They will not be less racist in California, maybe even more. That’s one of the reasons I don’t wanna put any my step back to Russian territory. Perhaps it comes from their genetical insecurity.They were pretty friendly, prices are reasonable, good choice for small space, atmosphere is pretty close to what we have in post soviet union smaller groceries. Consider uncomfortableness as part of the experience, if you wanna have actual experience of actual russian style grocery store. They had plenty of products I needed because of nostalgia. I got my health actually ruined here because I was eating American products full of sugar and processed fats, and “the land of freedom” still does not really have health care for poor hard working class like it is a third world country.Finally, this store was a reminder of all good I had back in the country I grew up in.And please don’t expect workers to smile and be friendly for no reason. You gotta pay us double to put a fake smile on our faces. And I am sure half of Americans don’t get paid enough to do that, but expected always look happy in customer service with barely affording to pay bills. Thats just an extra pressure on the workers and they don’t get paid enough to have it

The shop Odessa, when you buy a large amount, you will never give a check and always cheated and give light weight. Be careful. Always ask for a check for the purchase and check that impudent clerk you broke through. Good luck! A lovely little store equipped with common goods available in Eastern Europe/former USSR .

There are a lot of cheap and fresh farmer produce, huge grocery assortment. But always check the expiration date on any packed food.

As a Russian native, I know my food. Ive been shopping at Odessa Deli ever since I discovered it, several years ago. Now that we moved to Valencia, we dont mind the commute in order to stock up on these delicious treats. The only negative, we found some canned food with expired due dates, but the good by far outdoes the bad. Love their Salmon Trout, herrings, Beef Tongue salad (my husbands favorite!), Pelmeni and just about everything else. The owners can also be very nice - but a bit rough around the edges when they are busy.. Overall, 5 stars!

This store has tons of Russian groceries, some of them very delicious, i like some cakes, vegy salads, soups, dairy products. You can find even some Russian caviar over there.

Delli items without price tag per pound. Customer have to ask or guess. It has been done intentionaly - for not shoking customer of their high prices. I ask sales woman, IF fried fish I pick, fresh made?? She assure me that it fresh. When I bring at home- it was old and shewy like a rubber! Do not trust this store sales people - they will Lie to you, just to rid of old food !

Wow, its like stepping into a Soviet era produktiy. All your favorites are here...gretchka, tvorog, weird pickled things. If you are the sort to want these items, they are all here and more. But this place is super busy. Its the Whole Foods of Russian groceries.

Being half Russian myself, I was so excited to find a russian deli on my trip to West Hollywood. I was so startled by how mean the store workers are and how of an unwelcoming environment this place can be. We purchased some beef pelmini and dadu (ice cream) paying up front. The woman working just kept giving us dirty looks and dryly handed over our change on the counter (despite my fiancé holding out his hand politely). I love taking pictures in order to spread awareness of such hidden gems...but got scolded like a child by the women working screaming for me to stop taking pictures. I dont mind following orders, but no need to scream. Overall, unless you are fluent in Russian or a blood relative of the cranky ladies up front...find another Russian store.Oh, and pictures are to follow in this review. ;)

I bought 4 packs of cottage cheese, and it sour.

Business in Russian, mlyat :) I arrived 45 minutes before closing, they were not allowed to enter the store. Closed. This is not the first time. I understand that you chew on clients and you are stuck in the 90s, but this is not how things are done. I’m unlikely to come back with such an attitude.

The fishcakes on Passover are delicious! But like all the products that they took, fresh and tasty. Served a very polite man who knows his businessDyakuyu Odessa!

We bought today for 50 bucks of different items. One third of them were way beyond their best before date. Disgusting.I bought food for $ 50; various goods, preservation, gingerbread, and so on. A third was already overdue, they never looked at the dates here since all normal stores monitor the quality. Disgusting.
