I went into the store at 730..i shopped around to see what I wanted. They close at 8pm. I was rushed while he said over and over Waiting for you by 7:50pm. By a young Hispanic guy. He was rude. I end up leaving empty handed and unsatisfied. I would not recommend this beauty suppy store to anyone. Horrible service

They don’t allow any form of return/exchange/refund which is absolutely ridiculous and disgusting. I’m not sure what the point of having “returns in 14 Days” on the receipt is since it’s clearly a lie.

Bad customer service. They racially profile you if your black. This morning I entered the store where I have been several times before and spent hundreds of dollars at this particular store and this new Spanish lady took my card at the register after I asked her to give it back after I made my purchase and she would not along with holding my bags. I asked for manager and he also held my bags. I will NEVER shop here again.

Sooooo.......13 days ago I went and bought a hair dryer for my wife. The sign ON the register and the verbiage on the receipt said NO REFUNDS but Exchanges only. I tried to exchange it today for a more expensive one and was told that all purchases during COVID19 are final. REALLY....REALLY.....Ive brought back clothing and other purchases to other stores for a FULL REFUND. I wasnt even looking for that...just an exchange. I would have given 0 stars but it wouldnt allow me to do that. If you need something DO NOT......I repeat DO NOT go there unless you know that whatever you buy is yours forever and they dont care about the customer. What a waste of my time. Believe me.....I will let everyone know to stay away. RIPOFF!!!!

I love Beauty Island. Ive been coming here for years and have always had good experiences. The location and hours are extremely convenient, and the store is generally well stocked and well kept. I can usually find whatever Im looking for there and they do an awesome job of keeping up with the trendier styles while keeping a balance of BSS oldies but goodies. The staff are nice and will answer any questions as best as they can. The pricing is also pretty decent and is usually in line with whatever the item costs online. I do wish that the staff were more knowledgeable about the products though. They will try to help you, but often dont know many details about the stock, so I just end up having to research before coming or while in the store, which makes the trip twice as long as I expected. And they have such a huge selection that if you dont know what youre looking for, it can be overwhelming and take forever to make a choice. Training the staff better on the products would save time and make for a better customer experience because they would be able to give more informed recommendations, but even so, I still definitely recommend Beauty Island. Its a great classic beauty supply store and I love coming here.

I rarely ever use the word ghetto but I swear, what type of bottom barrel ghetto closes 10 minutes BEFORE they close. Y’all not even top tier product wise to think you’re special enough.

Store has a decent selection but the customer service is very poor. They seem ok with being rude to customers as well as being even more disrespectful after purchases.I had a bag thrown at me by an upset clerk that was clearly done with the day.Very triggering and unacceptable.

Beauty Island is incredible! Marco was very friendly, helpful, and is knowledgeable about the products he sells. The store stocks some of my favorite products that Ive had a hard time finding around D.C. so this store is my official go-to for my needs.

An easy store to get to but entirely way to expensive for the area, a lot of Howard university students as well as Regular Students use this store but your prices are out of this world and because its the closest one in the area and they know this they up their prices because they know we have no other place to go, thats why I go there for small items or last minute things.

|NO STARS|I’ve been coming to this place for years and until recently the customer service has been 5 star worthy.The items are fairly priced and I can always find what I need for my hair. The -Latinx- male manager is a delight to always work with and is extremely helpful - when in doubt.HOWEVER, the past couple of times I have been in the store (referring to my visit yesterday ) I’ve been sold items that were extremely defective, only to have the same sales associate (short, stocky, Hispanic female with jaw length hair) with a piss poor attitude, negate my claims and refuse to issue me an EXCHANGE on the defective item.I can’t remember her name, but after I realized the eye pencil I purchased was empty a block away from the store, I returned. Only to then have her raise her voice at me, get extremely defensive and even go so far as to lie and say she checked the merchandise in front of me!I just finished my second degree at GWU, I’m quite the critical thinker/observer; not only that, I was heading out of town for a show within the hour and didn’t have time for the horseplay.I used to refer many friends and associates here as well as spend quite a bit in the store, even on a whim at times. Needless to say, I’ll take my business elsewhere, where there’s a concern for a customer’s needs, attentiveness to detail, integrity and a sense of professionalism.

We need more melinated stores. We spend the most but still treated as if every melinated person steals. The owners give nothing back to our community and use melinated or Spanish people against us while shopping. Theyre selection is nice but I didnt feel comfortable handing my money over to people that do not live our reality but get to live out theirs off of melinated dollars. I hope I find a melinated owned store because Im tired of enriching others via using our culture to do so.

Too expensive. I always thought CVS was an expensive store. But found out that the same stuff cost $8 more in this store compared to CVS. Just go to the CVS across instead; if they have what youre looking for, it will either be the same prize or less expensive than this beauty store. Aside from the prices, its neat and well organized.
