Expensive Walmart is cheaper and Walmart dont follow you around in the store

Nice clean store that had what I needed. Four stars only because where I live all of the beauty supply stores sell cute shoes as well.

Love the store had everything lots of space large isles to browse the isles I think I spent over $100.00, but I went in for one thing lol.

At Judy beauty supply the staff is scary, they staring at me watching me walk around store, they never smile, they not greet you, I tried to be nice and talk and smile I got a dead reaction, they look like the walking dead to me.

I got to this store 12 minutes before closing tonight and had what might be the most frightening and unpleasant experience I have ever had shopping. First, as I dashed in looking for different braids, I found myself being followed from aisle to aisle by a rude, somewhat menacing man, who looked more like a gang enforcer than a beauty supply store assistant. A similar type man was at the counter and a really rude woman, all three really unfriendly. When they said the store was closing, I rushed to the register to complete my purchase. All three staff, one woman and two men, started shouting at me, and one of the men literally threw my packets of braids against the wall behind the counter! I could not understand what they were angry about as they spoke Korean I think. It was exactly 2 minutes past the closing time and the whole commotion was that I was keeping them late. As I tried to convince them to allow me to make my purchase, the second man lost his temper, threw my items on the ground and started yelling insults at me. I could barely move, I was so shocked, and explained I had driven 40 minutes from upper NW where I live to make it before closing and really wanted to pay and leave. I explained that I was flying out of the country the next morning and needed the braids for my trip. Despite this, one man shouted Get Out!! at me at the top of his lungs while the woman said she would call the police. They were agitated beyond belief and speaking to each other insulting me and mocking me although I could not understand the language. I could not believe the level of incompressible aggression, the plain meanness, and what I consider was a nearly violent and extremely racist situation I found myself in, with them telling me to go back to where I came from, ironically. In the end they refused to let me pay and I left empty-handed. I would strongly suggest the community report these horrible people and stay away from this place. No hair product is worth it, it was seriously a terrible and scary experience!!

Never allot of people in store makes me feel safe with mask on

Friendly staff. Allows you to shop unbothered until needed. Easy location of items. Staff able to answer staff.

Very attentive and courteous management. Another problem customer was professionally handled and with respect. She even QC-ed my purchase for flaws. Never had a seller initiate a QC prepurchase before. I will tell others about them.

They are super clean, well stocked and average pricing.

My receipt was marked final sale for no reason so they dont have a real return policy. Theres a Latina woman there following people and harassing them about their masks. I lifted my mask to speak without taking it off and more than 6 feet away and she attempted to tell me to put my mask up which I ignored because it was already on. On top of that she followed a woman with breathing issues and harassed her to keep her nose covered at all times when she was socially distanced and catching her breath. She was unwilling to answer questions about the products and was smart as with her answers. I would visit another store. They all have the same stuff and similar prices so we dont have to put up with this behavior as a community. Im spreading the word about this incident and boycotting this store going forward. There was no reason comment on my mask or stamp my receipt final sale for a standard purchase.

So its hard to find a beauty supply spot in the district that is not in the cut and specializes in products for different ethnicities. They have a diverse staff and they are always friendly and helpful which has unfortunately not been my experience in many of these establishments. Judys meets my hair and skin care needs and the location is super convenient.

I went to Judy beauty and i was simply looking for gel and the employees were just staring at me.i felt so uncomfortable i felt like they were waiting till i did something just so they can get rid of of me. I will not go back to this place cause they made me feel uncomfortable in my own skin honestly who would want to be judged because of there own skin color that they had no control over. i feel attacked just thinking about this

I’ve been going to Judy’s forever, the owners are awesome and very helpful.

My friend and I went into this beauty supply looking for Shea moister products. We couldn’t find it so we started looking at the wig section located in the back of the store. There is a alarm to let them know a customer back there. So the lady comes to the back while we are looking at the wigs etc and I tell her we are just looking we don’t need any help. She says okay but she still has to stand there. At this point my friend and I are very uncomfortable. So i ask her can she help me find the Shea moister and she points and I ask her can she show because I couldn’t find it . She stands there and does nothing. I will never go back to this beauty supply store because of behavior like this. Yes I understand protect your business from theft etc but don’t stereotype me because of my skin color . Not to mention I been there before and they do something funny every time. Last time I was followed around the store. I tried to stick with them because it’s close to school but behavior like that is not where I want to spend my money.

Don’t shop here. The employees are rude as hell. I called to ask if they had a specific hair dye in stock, and the woman told me she wasn’t sure and that I had to come check. I told her I was calling for a reason and need to make sure they have that specific product before I travel—she told me to hold on then hung up.I called back and the woman acted like she didn’t know what I was talking about and said, “...well you need to just come here and look for it yourself because I’m not going to check and we don’t do that here.” You don’t do what...provide customer service? I asked her if they were busy and she said yes, despite me hearing her ask another employee if they could go check instead. You aren’t busy.Why would I call you and ask if you have a specific product in stock if I intended on just stopping by anyway to browse your inventory? I’m not asking you questions for my health, I’m asking you because clearly I want to ensure that you have it before I travel from another part of the city. These people want to profit off of the black dollar but refuse to accommodate us. I will not shop here and will be sure that others are aware of how they treat potential customers

A very cool shopping place, with a variety of items to shop from Plenty of diversity and lots of things to choose from which all means the same thing lol. But nice things to choose from and a slick look. Cool place!

This is a very nice store, and I’ve been here twice since moving back to D.C. My first visit was fantastic! The lady that helps with the wigs was great and the younger woman at the counter was very friendly.My second visit was sub par at best. The same people were there and still very friendly, but there was an old woman at the checkout this time. She wasn’t friendly at all and she seemed to be rushing me to checkout, as I was browsing. It’s hard to explain how uncomfortable I felt, but I can say I won’t be returning because of that.

They always be watching you to see if you gonna steal! They recently got a security guard to watch now! Unfortunately this the only beauty supply near me so I go sometimes.

I like the store for the variety of products but the owners and employees make you feel very uncomfortable. The black hair industry is a multi billion dollar industry and the owners recognize that but resent the patrons, i.e. African Americans, blacks. Leaving the store feeling the suspicious gaze lingering even though its unwarranted is enough for me to find a place more appreciative. I suggest finding a place that supports you.

Bought a hair straightener flatiron along with multiple other items for around $140. The flatiron happened to be unsatisfactory in terms of the quality of the hair pads (it was rougher than expected). We only realized this once we brought it back and unpacked it. We went back in the next day and wanted to return it. The staff was pretty rude and did not entertain the idea at all even though it was bought less than 24 hours ago. Please be aware of EVERYTHING you buy from this store. You need to make sure it works exactly as you expect otherwise you can forget about being able to return items back.The store manager was really salty too, saying things like really, have you used a flatiron before? and we have this policy since people use these devices for few days and return.

My first time wearing wigs and restricted to try only four out of approximately 150 wigs at Judy Beauty Store. After explaining I am new to wig experience. No exceptions to the rule. Poor customer service.

I have been a customer here every since I was a little girl. When they had their older location. Im a huge fan of clip in extensions and sometimes its hard to find them for a seasonal price. Here, I found them for $19 14in - offblack, synthetic. I bought two packs of these extensions with disbelief that one could cover my whole head. Little did I know, one pack did cover my whole head ! I am super satisfied with my look and even have the other pack to keep for later. The hair doesnt have a strong oder like most and it is very soft and ok to heat. This location also sells clip in to resemble the natural hair texture, it was recommended at first, but I have been doing my hair for so long w/o any concerns. I felt like I had a consultation, it was a great one. Thank you Judys !

Worst beauty supply ever. Hotrible costumer service and overly aged hair is stocked in there. Also instead of refunding you account if you use card instead of cash they tend to double charge you card. So if you have any refunds please note keep a track because even with you receipts they will not try to refund you the money back. They call costumers name and if you don’t spend a certain amount of money because of what you like...they will tell you to your face you get cheap stuff! I highly recommend for anyone to travel to another beauty supply because this one is rude. The outside is pretty but the costumer service is horrible.

New location and renovation; very nice. It has everything I need. Items are always stocked neatly. HOWEVER, I do not appreciate the asian employees always staring in a degrading and accusatory manner at me and fellow black people as if our intention is to steal. I am a hardworking professional making very honest money and I cant help but to feel offended and annoyed. Racial profiling... DISGUSTING.

I stopped by this morning to get some braiding hair and I was followed around the store by a male associate the entire time. To make matters worse, when I got to the front register, the other sales associates weren’t any friendlier. Black women, shop elsewhere. Wont be returning again.
