Very helpful staff spoke with Josh the other day and he helped me get everything I needed to get my bikes fixed. Also the owner today helped me a lot with tips and tricks for maintenance and more parts. Had a great experience thanks guys!

Have a broken chain that needed replaced. Dropped off by the broken one it was cut and assembled to match the broken, I was messaged it was ready and the new chain was perfect allowing me to have my wife’s bike in service the same day. Highly recommend them for any repairs.

My brother and I originally went to a shop in Norfolk because it was closer to where we live, but the worker at that shop was rude and declined to take any appointments. We found this place and even though its a bit of a distance, this would definitely the place well go to the next time we need a fix. The guys here gave us a fair price up front and fixed the threading of my brothers pedals within the same day and even 2 hours sooner than the original time frame we were given. Thanks so much!

Mark listened to our requirements for bike hire in August, tailored everything to our needs and had our bikes and accessories ready before pick up. He gave advice on local cycle routes, places to visit before the hire and made speedy adjustments before the off. Great place and super friendly service.

My bike fell off the back of our camper rack on 64. Mark was able to not only fix it within a few hours but he charged me less than the big box stores. I recommend his shop to anyone!! Mark is also an exceptional nice guy and made it a priority to fix my bike so we can enjoy our camping/ biking trip.

So went in there today looking for a handlebar stem for my mountain bike. The place was a mess, boxes everywhere. Only one guy working and when I asked him about the part, his reply was “I probably have one upstairs in a box somewhere, but I have another customer so I don’t have time to look, sorry.”Wow, in the middle of a COVID Pandemic when the U.S. unemployment rate is at an all time high, and businesses are going bankrupt left and right, this is the response I get from this guy!I only picked this store since it was on shore drive and close to where I live, plus I figured I would give my business to someone local vice shopping on Amazon. Big mistake!!!!Fortunately, Conte’s Bike Shop on Laskin had excellent customer service, adequate staff, and had the part. I was happy to give them my $100, and they were very appreciative of my business.Don’t waste your time with Switching Gears, they obviously do not need any business during this time.

I have probably never received such great service from any repair shop in my life. MARK WAS GREAT! This man has so much knowledge about every detail and facet of a bicycle and all of its components! He took our sons 2 bikes in and did repairs for us 15 minutes before closing and stayed late doing a few extras!! Totally worth every dollar spent! I will ALWAYS go to this shop for all my bicycle needs and refer his shop to everyone I know. Thank you Mark, youre super awesome! 👍👍

I was looking for a bike repair shop and read the reviews for this place and it was all TRUE. Absolutely love this place. Vince provided outstanding customer service. Bought a bike online that was missing back brakes and front brakes needed to be adjusted as well as a couple of other adjustments. The bike was repaired same day and I added lights, all for a reasonable price. Vince suggested that I get a tune up; however, since the price was going up, he said it wasnt really necessary. So they dont force anything on you unless its necessary. Definitely recommend this place. Vince you ROCK!!!!

Great local shop. Relatively new from my understanding. I needed a sort of not-so-common tube, and even though they dont sell or deal much with road bikes, they had what I needed. Super friendly and glad to help me out. Very much recommended. Ill spread the word to help this place out!

Absolutely amazing service. A++++++++I had purchased two bikes for me and my fiance from Walmart (first mistake) before Christmas and figured I would put the bikes together myself (second mistake). I had watched a few videos and figured I could knock this out in an hour or so on Christmas Eve while my fiance was at work. Unfortunately, this wasnt the case. I couldnt get the front wheel to line up properly and I was quickly running out of time. I threw the bikes in the truck and took it up to Switching Gears on Xmas Eve around 11 am. Yes on Xmas Eve! Praying for a Christmas miracle, Mark and his shop were there to save the day. He happily took the problem bike and said hed contact me within the next hour or so with the problem resolved. The bike frame had somehow bent upon delivery and required some serious torquing. I was happy to find that it wasnt just me having issues with this bike build. Not only did Switching Gears fix the problem bike, but they also put together the second bike - all within two hours time. Thanks to Mark and his team, I got the bikes back to the house well before the fiance arrived home. Thank you Switching Gears for saving Christmas!Weve enjoyed using our Mongoose Fat Bikes on the beach and in First Landing many times since the holidays. We look forward to using Switching Gears for any bike purchases/fixes/inquiries in the future! I would highly recommend their business!

Poor experience. Walked in my bike for a wheel true, and was told it will take several days. Checked a week later and they hadnt even looked at it. Went back again and they told me I need a new wheel. I asked for some recommendations and he said he will look into it. Called back a few days later, and he told me he was too busy, but looked into an old-school paper catalog and gave me a few options, but wouldnt be able to order for at least several days to save on shipping costs. I did my own research and pulled three options and emailed him so that he can look at, and was told that he was trying to get out of town so he wouldnt be able to do it..... went back in and just got my bike to take to another shop.... three weeks later I still have a bent wheel..... Im all for small business but this is not how its done.

I love this place! I brought in a foldable bike I found at a thrift shop. It was in pretty rough shape, needed a tune up, new chain, a peddle, brakes, etc. Oh and it was modified from a 6 speed to single speed. Vince worked some sort of sorcery and I was able to pick it up the next day! To top it off it was very affordable. I would recommend Switching Gears to anyone, especially people like me who know nothing of bikes and are worried of being taken advantage of. I will definitely be coming back.

Stopped in near closing time for a seat recommendation. They stock several and recommended one which I bought. I cant believe what a difference it made. Brought my bike in with the intention of either replacing the rim or trading it in for a new bike. Ended up trading in the old bike because Mark gave us a fair amount to put towards a new bike. He even swapped out the handle bars on the new bike for something more comfortable for me. Great customer service, will be back

Great customer service, bike service and attention to detail. I took my mountain bike in to get my inner tube replaced; the owner, Mark, noticed that the location of the hole in my old inner tube indicates it was likely punctured or pinched by my wheel. He inspected my wheel and found that it was bent. He was able to get the bend almost completely out, which in turn fixed another problem I had with my wheel rubbing against the brake pads. I received friendly service that showed concern for my immediate and future needs. Thanks Mark, for helping us have a great day on the trail.

Just had my first contact with Switching Gears, taking in one of my road bikes for a tune-up. It was accomplished in a couple of days at a remarkably reasonable cost, and came back looking and feeling like new. Mark and Randy are great people to do business with.

I would give a zero if possible. Ordered a bike for my daughters big Christmas gift. I was very clear in the fact that I wanted a new bike ordered and was told that I would get a new bike, out of the box. I was extremely mislead and straight up lied to. The owner said he would have time to order a new bike and I should call him when I needed it put together. I waited for the bike to get in, called to let him know I would be in the next day to pick up, he stated that would give him and his co worker plenty of time to get the bike ready. Only to show up the next day to the scratched up, damaged bike that had been sitting out front for months!!! Shady business!!! I even paid for the bike in November to help his numbers for the end of the month. I was told each time that a new bike would be ordered for me and then lied to on each occasion. He knew he had no intention on ordering a new one yet didnt even have the courtesy to pull the bike into the store once it was paid for. He continued to let my daughters Christmas gift sit out in the elements for 3 more weeks for free advertising. Now I have to start all over a week before Christmas! Avoid this place if possible.

Great shop! The service is fast and reasonably priced, plus its fun to rap with the guys in back while you bike is getting fixed up. Theres a good selection of new bikes too from Sun, Worksman, and others. Definitely wont find any Huffys here though!

They have a great atmosphere, friendly service and can help you with anything bike. I highly recommend it. Thou, when you walk in, its a little disorganized. But give it a chance, theyre just getting started.

Mark makes this place amazing. He goes above and beyond to make sure his customers are happy. We were browsing casually for beach cruisers and wanted to have then before the 4th of July; Mark made 2 custom bikes for my wife and I and had them ready the next morning for us to enjoy for the 4th.You won’t go wrong with him and Switching Gears!!!
