HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, NEVER GO AGAIN .NEGATIVE STARS. Forced to give 1 star in the rating since google mandates 1 star for posting. I brought by 5 year old for his exam needed for his school. I had an appointment confirmation email and multiple emails reminding the date/time of appointment. I even completed the online form which they requested to save my time during the visit. However when I turned with my 2 little kids, they said my appointment was never confirmed and lady at the front desk said she can’t help. I don’t think they are worried about the customer experience even if we are a patient. I would never go to this place again. It is located in Hawthorn Mall, Vernon Hills. If my appointment was never confirmed I would expect them to send a notification regarding the same. Such a time waste.

Rude, waste of time and pointless.I’ve made multiple appointments with them and stillno progress on getting new contacts.first appointment was back in may/april we were told by a nice younger girl at the desk that the insurance would not cover until later june. okay that’s fine! we’ll come back when it’s covered.second appointment; scheduled an appointment for saturday around 4, received confirmation email & when we got there they were CLOSED with a sign saying they were closing early at 2PM. you have time to make a dingy sign and not give a 2min phone call? why let us make an appointment??? didn’t even tell us to reschedule. wasted time and gas.THIRD APPOINTMENT: it’s at 4:20, we ran late due to me working 40 minutes out and traffic is ridiculous due to an accident: 10min late, called ahead to give notice but of course- no answer & were told by the older lady at desk with an ATTITUDE. that theres a 5min grace period and we have to reschedule. 1) nowhere is that listed in the store nor the first and only confirmation that was sent.but when it’s out of YOUR convenience it’s a bothersome but not when we hurry over for a scheduled appointment and you’re closed, it’s not? haha okay! (there were no other guests present either)F O U R T H appointment; lady still has some attitude and then we’re told that the insurance is wrong, doesn’t apply & all this other stuff. why not say something all the other times i had to look at your face? how was the NICER younger girl able to tell us the insurance wasn’t quite valid yet but IS in the system. now i’m being told after ALLL this time and constant trips, that it isn’t on file or youre “not so sure”? lol lady cmon.this is so frustrating and annoying, the fact it’s been since may dealing with this just to get contacts we haven’t even had an EXAM yet!receptionist has got to fix her attitude, i’ve never been so close to becoming a karen on someone.

I brought my 6 year old daughter for an appointment on Thursday at 4:40. I had two different confirmations. The lady at the front desk with very long hair was beyond rude to me and had an attitude. She told me I didnt have an appointment for my child and after I showed her the confirmations she was huffing about it after we waited for what felt like forever without even being spoken too, it was like we were invisible. She didnt even apologize and continued to have an attitude. She made me an appointment for the next day after saying she couldnt do anything. Its hard with a child to drive back and fourth when everything is on a tight schedule. The next day when we came for our appointment, she had an attitude again. While waiting for the doctor my 6 year old had to use the washroom really badly. She pointed at the washroom after someone else had used it and there are no signs anywhere saying there is no public washroom. I had asked the same lady at the front desk if my child could use the bathroom and she responded, uhh uhh No No we dont have a washroom here. That was absurd because we watched others use it. The whole time we were selecting glasses for my child she was watching us like a hawk and kept asking if we need help. I understand that is her job but her facial expression said enough about how she felt about our presence. The doctor and the assistant were both amazing and welcoming. However as the first person you interact with when you step into this place, the lady working the front has no manners, didnt even greet us either time. As paying customers it was upsetting all over. She didnt even check if the frames we picked for my daughter fit her properly and didnt do any kind of measurements. I really hope that they fit correctly after she neglected doing a fitting. She was trying to rush us out so quickly after we asked for my child to use the washroom that she didnt finish her job correctly.

Very deceptive sales practices. I am very familiar with how buy one get one free works and for this reason, I specifically questioned the sales rep about how it worked and was told buy any pair and the second is free, period. Well I selected a $69.00 frame with single vision lenses. My quote was $501.00. Thats right, $69.00 frames, single vision lenses. If the second pair is truly free, then this is the Visionworks cost for cheap frames with cheap lenses. Crazy.

I previously called visionworks VH to make sure that my foreign prescription would be accepted and a very kind gentleman welcomed me to go and choose the glasses I needed, when I arrived a woman rep told me in a very despotic attitude that they dont accept foreign doctors prescriptions only US. Fortunately another representative try to explain that they actually accept those, I olso tried to explain that the prescription is 100% valid in the US as well, but the woman rep interrupted me and started contradicting the other representative, I was so confused, the woman told me to go ahead and choose the glasses, I was so confused by her unprofessional attitude and lack of information so I asked her if the prescription would be accepted or not, and she rolled her eyes and said -I already told you. Her attitude and lack of knowledge made me feel so unwelcome and disappointed so I left... I just wanted a pair of glasses, I called other locations and theyre happy to help me with my foreign prescription.

Brought my 83 year old father with me for a dual appointment 20 minutes apart. We were denied both our appointments because we were TEN minutes late to the FIRST appointment. The place was empty!! When you see an 83 year old on a cane, you may want to consider they had difficulty walking through the mall. It took me time to walk him into the mall and find an elevator. The rudeness and insensitivity by which we were denied was really upsetting. Fortunately Lens Crafters was able to get us in even though they had two other patients. Happy to take my business to Lens Crafters where they showed some common human decency.

10:30 state required appointment for my kindergartner. its 11:39. They trapped us with the initial exam and now weve been waiting for the doctor for over an hour. staff could not care less. they all seem beaten and tired like mall culture theyre trapped in. tiny gnats everywhere too

I wanted to say a BIG Thank you to Dr. Victoria Haynes for helping get to the bottom of a 4 month ordeal with other doctors (at other facilities) prescriptions for me. She was patient and kind and got my prescription right after 4 prescriptions and 5 pairs of glasses. Thank you thank you thank you! Also, the staff at the Hawthorn Visionworks was really nice and very kind.

So we made our appointments online, we used sanitizer upon entering, and had our temperature taken. We presented our insurance card and they give a flyer of an eye health screening that will be an additional $20 each and insurance is not covering. We declined. They said it was for the health and safety of the doctor. Can’t get your vision checked without it. What?? Taking a picture of the inside of my eye is protecting the doctor? Is Covid recognized through this test? No. So how is it protecting the doctor? It’s not. It’s a scheme. Never again going there.

The person Who assisted me the most was a gentleman named Louise was very professional and before any that he procedure he performed he explained thoroughly before proceeding. Also He showed me frames that was within my budget where Ive had others will show the higher price ones straight away! They also follow Covid protocol.

Liked the way I was welcomed great atmosphere despite the world’s pandemic circumstances, that make people feel awry when going to get any kind of care or anywhere else that’s not your own home. Liz and Doctor Ada Avary that was there were amazing gave great customer service. I had a great experience and recommend anyone that needs eyeglass/contact lenses replaced or just an eye exam to come here also recommend paying the extra $$ for the retina pictures which you can have a better view of your eye health and in my opinion is better than getting your eyes dilated. Best service 👍

I took my son in for his kindergarten screening. My son has some developmental delays and anxiety which I explained to them on the phone prior to the appointment. The first half of the exam with Luis was fine. Then the exam which I still can not understand why I had to pay an extra $20 for an exam that puts absolutely no one at risk seeing as it’s literally a giant camera. They had trouble getting my son to sit still for the test and they weren’t shy about showing their frustrations. The first woman that came over to help kept telling me to stop moving and then goes as far as to to say “if you would just listen and stop moving we’d be done faster. Mind you they had already made several attempts so at this point he was sick of everyone trying move his head is different directions. Then the optometrist comes out who has the same attitude and also wasn’t shy during the frustration during the second exam. When she did the test to see if he needed glasses she kept yelling at him to that his nose wasn’t in the right place. So again he’s getting upset. As I’m watching her fill out his chart I see her type “would not stop moving or follow instructions” then even writes that he has hyperopea on his sheet. Just because my son can not control his body and has a hard time sitting still (as do many five year olds) does not mean he has rapid eye movement. I will never go back to this place again.

Visited Visionworks for the first time and all staff members were wonderful. Liz was extraordinarily helpful. Her and her team worked through my insurance benefits, gave me a rundown of my payments so I knew exactly what I was paying for, and answered all of my questions. Will be booking appointments for my parents to get their exams done here! They also have a wide range of glasses, which I LOVED!

I did not enjoy my first time coming into this vision works. This all occurred during the pandemic and despite the fact that I was wearing a mask with my nose covered they made me wait at the entrance of the store. I only needed to select and purchase new glasses since I already had an eye exam but they told me I still needed an appointment to even look around and select glasses. I respect that those were their actions taken to reduce the virus spread but there was exactly no one in the store. And after I browsed around the mall for another hour upon exit, the vision works store was completely free of customers. I was also greeted poorly by an employee at the front desk. She was not very nice and seemed like she had no energy whatsoever. I got the vibe that this place was full of lazy employees who just didn’t want to help people. I did get a little help from one of the eye doctors and she was very nice so I’m grateful for that. I decided not to come into this shop anymore and will take my business elsewhere.

Sincerely, from the moment we stepped into this Visionworks shop we were treated with warm and friendly greetings. The place was full of inventory of a wide variety frames. The entire staff was wearing PPE and I was masked and gloved the entire time, as well. Their customer service was impeccable and we would recommend them to anyone.

The guy said to pick a pair of glasses out, that hed clean them, and then I could try them on. I picked them out. He never cleaned them and I never tried them on. He sat down for about 8-9 minutes asking me questions about what I want on the glass (i.e., non-glare, etc). The glasses were $250.00; and, I asked how much w/insurance and he said that is with insurance. He said w/out insurance, it would $657. I said I will shop around then. I asked for the exam cost - $148. I asked if that was w/insurance. He said insurance would pay 35. I called the insurance company - he waited until I spoke with the guy - I think he thought I was going to give up being on hold. When I began to talk to the insurance rep, all of a sudden the Visionworks person said the costs was $97.00. The insurance guy said I should only pay $10.00 for a copay; and, that I did not need to pay anything else. I paid for the $10.00, plus an optional $19.00 retina exam. I did this for my wife too. The guy was super sarcastic, in a passive aggressive way. I will never go back there. I never do posts like this, but I dont other people to waste their time.

Absolutely terrible! I took my daughter to an eye exam on early September and was complaining about having no correction for her right eye! I took her back in (paying another eye exam price) and the doctor said “it is perfectly fine! Look at the machine”. I complained and the optometrist doctor got angry and went back to his office calling my son “petrified from you”. Now my daughter is stuck with poor vision in her right eye and is angry at this location.+The optometrist was a female by the way.And if that optometrist reads this, this is my note:My daughter is not receiving any correction yet and is annoyed with your “stupid & dumb presumptions”. Stop make presumptions and take a retake rather than arguing on stuff that does not matter at the point since you cannot control it anymore!The good thing I found about this place however (+1 star) was that they have variety of good glasses! I love them, but they need to make retakes more simple and fast for people (especially children & teenagers). So good job on the variety!So in conclusion, don’t go to this place for retake eye exams, or just regular eye exams, since it is terrible here in my opinion, so I’d recommend going to another Visionworks store. Liz took the time to sit down with me and made some amazing recommendations for frames and didn’t mind patiently waiting while I tried some pairs on and made my decision. Waiting for new glasses for more than 3 weeks. No updates. Called after 2.5 weeks since there was no update. New date and told to wait for another 2 weeks . I do not see any concern for the customers. One has to wait for more than a month to get glasses ?Also no commitment for dates.We pay full as requested. there was no discount for poor service. So service has to be good. I am stuck now.. Cannot go anywhere.

I was in a couple nights ago to get my glasses fixed. Liz did an amazing job. They were super bent up and I thought they were done for. She was also very personable. (Have to bring my mom in at some point to get an eye glass exam by the way.) I had lots of questions about glasses and materials but she was very patient and kind about it. Seems like she really cares about people. You can tell. Good luck with being a doctor in the future Liz!!

Had an amazing experience. They took me as a walk in. Had my eye exam done with in minutes of arriving. Juan did and excellent job helping me decide on my new pair of glasses. And my glasses arrived a few days before estimated date of arrival. Over all very pleased with the service. I brought my cousin in a week after and she also was helped by Juan. Helpful staff, very friendly and polite. They were able to help us to do three exams and to reschedule one quickly. They also called out insurance to determine whether they took it in whole or part. They did not but were able to give us some options for getting games and lenses.The optometrist was also very friendly and got along well with the kids who arent always cooperative with such things.

This review is actually for one of the employees who works here. Liz is amazing! She genuinely cares about her clients. She was in the middle of getting my measurements for the glasses I was ordering, it was 30 min before the store closed. The other employee, Juan, who clearly saw Liz taking care of me, closed the registers 30 min before closing! Because of that, Liz took it upon herself to come in the next day, which was her day off, to complete my purchase! That is extremely rare to find in the retail environment! Jose the general manager has a, Im right, your wrong attitude. The Doctor will talk at you, very old school mentality of the stereotypical docs before they were taught how to build relationships with their clients. Only normal guy I interacted with was a younger associate named Juan who provided good customer service and had a normal attitude. Wont be going back, and if your considering going just know its $49 for an eye exam but $108 if you wear contacts; theyll forget to tell you that over the phone and then give you attitude when you question their pricing after they surprise you with it in person.

I came to Vision Works today and I almost walked out of the store because the cost was so expensive! But thankful this young lady Liz sat down with me and noticed on my insurance paperwork that I was eligible for another option making my $415.00+ balance to $230 and some change. I am so happy that she took the time to explain things to me and showed me that I could get a tint on my sunglasses and it would be covered by the insurance. I probably won’t have come back if she hadn’t sat down with me. I recommend her, go and see her!

Ive been going there for 5 years now, Dr. Is amazing, great service, some of the staff is nice and Friendly, unfortunately today I called to check is my glasses were ready and a woman named Bonny answered the phone in a very rude way said if I had received a message then were ready, when I said yes about one pair since I ordered 2 I needed to know which ones since they are different, she again said IF YOU HAVENT SEEN A MESSAGE THEN NO GLASSES, I said I Understand that just need to know which pair is ready, she asked for my last name 2 times and finally got it, she informed me that both pairs are ready and hung up on me.

The eye exam went well and was thorough. The optometrist did a contact lens evaluation even though I told her I still have a year supply of contacts and dont need them. Then, I was charged $39 for the evaluation because my insurance did not cover it. The lens selection is average. They do not have name brand glasses such as Coach, Burberry, etc. The assistant did not help and make recommendations on the frames. The lenses were too thick for the frames so I did a change order for thinner lenses. Every time I call in, Im placed on a 5 minute hold. They misplaced my glasses and after 10 days I called in to check on the status and they found them in a different bin. I was dilated by the optometrist and she told me that I will have blurry vision and would be sensitive to light. They should not allow you to drive home because I barely made it home. Overall, I have been going here for 5 years but I will be choosing a different optometrist and retailer next year.

Sadaf and Liz were amazing. I brought my daughters glasses in and both pairs were in dire condition. One pair had both ears bent and the other also was in sad shape. I saw the store was empty so I walked in with a few questions to purchase a pair of frames that I was unable to purchase online through my insurance. The lady that greeted and helped me was very friendly when I asked questions. Im a relatively passive person so I tried to ask in a way that wasnt too imposing, but she was willing to help. With that said, the manager there was incredibly rude and was doing everything in his power to question the girl that was helping me every step of the way and telling me to go do the things by myself when I was clearly confused. Every time I asked a question, hed lash back questioning my reasons for asking. I feel that its reasonable to want to be sure of what youre purchasing and to be able to ask questions when youre about to spend hundreds. Again, Im a relatively passive and reasonable person, so if it was busy Id be more understanding. However, the store was empty and they were just standing and talking when I walked in (not that this should matter when I customer is inquiring about a product). In the end, before the girl could help me with my prescription, the manager told me to go do it myself after interrogating me about my schedule and basically making me justify why I wanted to have direct help.

I dont usually do surveys like this, however I was motivated by the friendly and courteous staff at Vision Works. I was struggling with discomfort with my new glasses and during my shopping trip with my wife, she had suggested I stop in at Vision Works to see if they could possibly help. She has been a customer for some time and assured me that they could help. When we came into the store they were pretty busy but one of the associates (I believe her name was Bonnie) took a moment to enquire if we needed help. I explained what was happenning and she knew just what to do. Since Bonnie adjusted my glasses I feel so much better! She was kind and courteous and really seemed to care about what I was dealing with. My wife and I will continue to do business with this Vision Works location in the future. Its rare to get such great customer service! Thank you Bonnie and Vision Works!

We ordered glasses from Vernon hills location. customer service with Ms Sadaf R was excellent. she explained everything and was very patient. we ordered 2 years ago and came back because we like glasses from Visionworks. next time we need glasses we will back to see Sadaf again. Employe A+++

Came in with new glasses-lens had popped out. I self replaced. In a VERY SHORT time the repair was made and my glasses were readjusted for an improved fit‼️I am impressed with thoughtful service as I walked into a very busy store. I found many useful things for my family’s Christmas stockings🥰Successful trip to Hawthorn Mall. Glasses/Sunglasses purchased in the Fall were adjusted and lens adjustment was completed.I didn’t expect to find stocking stuffers here, Yet I spent $103 & some change.Liz and VWorks are wonderful-Come in‼️🎅 maybe you’ll find some reasonably priced stocking stuffers like I did.

Took a half an hour to attend to me then the machine that they offer to supposedly take a picture of the back of your eyeball for $40 is a joke, dont even bother. They had an offer buy one pair get the second pair free, took my time picking out second pair just to be told that offer did not pertain to me due to my prescription being to high, nowhere on the the poster and banners did it say restrictions apply, I felt cheated. I paid for the eye exam and got my frames at Wal-Mart on Waukegan, cheaper prices and great variety.

Great place I went in to get glasses and one of their employees yasir provided such an excellent service and was extremely humble. My sister and I both picked up a pair of raybans because he recommended such a great deal on glasses. Good job yasir. I am thinking of going back now for contacts, hopefully he is there again to provide amazing customer service.

Called to make an Appt, kept me holding for about 10 minutes, once the guys came back on the line I start to tell him the needs, cuts me off stating he is having computer problems that he will need to contact his IT dept. asking if he could call me back...BTW I had left a message the previous day with my name and phone number because no one answered the phone, did not receive a call back.this was going to be my first time trying Visionworks not a very good experience, I will take my Business elsewhere.

Very Rude staff and not helpful at all. I went in there because the glasses i was prescribed after my eye exam were not working out. i needed them to help me find the right glasses and was expecting to obviously pay what ever they cost since i waited too long after my initial visit. The person that helped treated me like a was stupid and decided for me that i couldnt change my presciption because it was too expensive. Like it was going to come out of her pocket. Never coming back nor will i recommend this place to anyone.

Not much has changed since other reviews posted. Complete chaos thru out the store. Optometrist was a sub and was just doing his job. Get them in, get them out. The gentleman that sat at the reception desk never moved from it. Claimed he couldnt find my insurance as them being a provider and would work on it some more and call me back. That was Friday it is now Tuesday and NO call. As shame from when I first started to go there. Guess need to find somemore else.
