I dealt with both Scott and John. I had concerns about my transmission and my brakes and they were just so professional. They asked me to leave it for a couple hours and I did and within those couple hours they called me with my diagnostics which ended up being great (thank goodness). I would highly recommend that if you have any of the issues for the services they have listed this is a great and honest place to go for repairs. Plus it is hard these days to get an answer quickly, also very impressed with timing of my appt. Also being a woman you might sometimes feel that other places would take advantage of that fact. That is absolutely not the case at this location. Safe, Honest, Reliable, Good Value.

Just got A/C done and had to ask about the “online” price to get it. Originally I was charged $189.99 before some other fees coming out to $220.58 on their standard A/C recharge with dye. When I see reviews of honest and fair prices, this doesn’t reflect. If you type in A/C service near me I get $139.99 Tampa AAMCO. If you are here to provide a service you might want to let your customers know there are discounts or different prices online that you can replace your “standard” price you have on your computer (which is also pulled up from your AAMCO.. online.. server)… That’s how you do honest work and fair prices by being real with the work and prices. Guess he didn’t bother giving me the 10% military discount either after I showed him the online price now that I’m looking at the invoice…

Three strikes your out 3000 dollars on trans rebuild to have it fail within ten days each time. Yes its still under warranty but I will pay someone else to rebuild my trans before I waste my time with aamco again.

Was told to bring in vehicle with transmission issues after another shop quoted for a rebuild. Aamco rep questioned why they would rebuild without knowing the cause and told us to tow it over. They checked and couldnt see an issue, and was told it would be minimum $1500 to open it up and do a diagnostic, despite being told the diagnostic was no charge. We towed it back to the original shop who is completing the work.I would not recommend this business to anyone.

Ok the reason I am leaving this review is for document purpose. Ok my wife had her transmission rebuilt and valve cover gasket replacement done at south Tampa location she is taking in water underneath passenger glove compartment draining on the floor and upon lifting hood to see where water was coming from to stop it I found technician tools Underwood also upon look the cowl vent was not all the way down. More concern now it may cause electrical problem because technician didn’t install back properly. Pros are transmission shifting great cons is replacement of cowl vent wasn’t properly installed back on hopefully you guys can fix it on Monday. I Called office spoke to Scott who informed me I could get a shop vac and drain water out problem is that’s why my wife brought it to shop to get repaired I don’t have the tools to fix the technician created so we will return so you guys can fix it overall decent experience at this location

Shop around for a MUCH better price...I received a quote to replace the AC compressor. This company stated the complete compressor kit cost about $750 plus labor and taxes would cost me about $1,550 for the repair. A different shop quoted about $850. I also found out the compressor and kit actually cost $380.These guys are very unreasonable, to the point of trying to rip me off.

My transmission went out on my 2005 Cadillac Escalade. The repair was more than I could afford at the time. The great staff at AAMCO suggested the finance option. It was a life saver, they repaired my SUV really fast and they were very professional. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone that is in need of any type of car repair. My daughter attends the University of Tampa and I live in Philadelphia. My daughter texted me that the o/d light was flashing on her Mazda. The vehicle was not shifting properly. I had her take it to AAMCO for diagnostics to find out what was going on. Being 1200 miles away I was nervous about what to expect. Scott (the owner) and his team were amazing. Arrived at location after doing a ton of self diag on car with other Audi sources. Was concerned and always like to know what issues and options could be prior to going in for auto items ANYWHERE. I have been using Pep Boys for general maintenance/repair on my car for the past 5 yrs. or so. During my last visit they wanted to charge me over $600 to replace a rear coil on my engine. As I have replaced a front coil myself with relative ease, I was rather surprised by this price! While contemplating my decision in their store I saw an AAMCO commercial come the TV. I called and spoke with Scott who was very polite and gave me a very reasonable cost for the repair (less than half the cost). I was even more impressed when he offered to drop me back off at my house which is about a 5-10 min drive from their location. Great job and I look forward to working with you guys in the future!

I have taken two of my vehicles to AAMCO for oil changes, brake work, and a radiator flush. They were always friendly and professional! And super knowledgeable about each of my vehicles.Yes, they have pointed out things I needed to have done when I took my cars in for an oil change, but isnt that their job, to inform me about the health of my car? They have always told me what was completely necessary, what could be put off for later and what should be done soon.I plan to drive my cars well beyond 200,000 miles and I feel very comfortable they will help me accomplish this! So far so good at 140,000 and counting!

We recently had a transmission problem on our 2002 Ford Explorer. Scott, Charles and the team did a terrific job of diagnostics, they located the problem and provided the most economical option to make good the repair. After a week the transmission warning light came back on and the team under warranty located the problem and although it was not related to the initial repair, made good the repair under warranty. I was extremely impressed by their work ethic and solving what for us was a complex and potentially a more expensive repair. Many thanks.

I visited a couple of shops before this one to get an estimate to fix the transmission on my Chevy Cargo Van. I got a budget from Curtis (front desk) that was $1,000 less than the previous places I went to. They fixed my van in a timely manner and they gave me a warranty on the job and parts.After my experience with AAMCO, I now realize that the other shops did not know what they were doing. One of the other shops I visited said that in order to fix my problem, they needed a special tool (that didn’t exist) to remove the plug for my rear differential. AAMCO showed me an alternative for fixing my “problem” by filling my gear oil for me as it had been leaking and was low. They also discussed a separate issue I’d been having with shifting and gave me a good idea about what needed to be done. Service was fast and friendly. Thanks!

The service I received at Aamco of Tampa is simply amazing!!! Very highly recommended. You can trust these good folks to give you the best service for your vehicle. Drew, Wayne, Moose, and Scott truly treated my vehicle as if it was their own and went way above and beyond my expectations.I brought my truck in with rear differential issues. The GM dealer wanted ~$1900 for the repair. Aamco did a free inspection of my vehicle to confirm the issue, and then discussed options with me. I opted to go with replacing my entire rear axle (found low mileage one in salvage). After replacement, there was still a vibration noticed. These guys spent hours researching, testing, finding and fixing the vibration problem..............just because they took extreme pride in their work and did not want to return to the customer until everything was right. All of this, and I came away with a very smooth running truck for $500 less than the dealer initially quoted.Thanks guys!!! You have earned my trust, Ill be back.

I had work done to my car from this place and I couldnt be more happier with my experience. From the initial inspection for scope of work to the pricing and over customer service experience. This place even offers financing to fit your financial situation if need be. Wont be taking my car anywhere else.

I wouldnt suggest going here and would never go back. They tried to charge me over $400 to replace parts that have nothing wrong with them. Glad Im not an idiot and went to autozone and bought the $5 part to fix my vehicle myself.

I kind of struggle giving them four stars for a couple reasons: Their labor rate is $95 an hour. I brought my vehicle there and after having them remove the pan to see if anything was visible damaged I was charged $210. To look. Later I was quoted $2200 for the repair job and after securing the initial payment they provided me with another quote for $3300. The reason I give four stars is that their shops owner took me to their repair center so I could visually see the damaged parts. His tech even explained the purpose of each part and why it should be replaced. After making a few observations on parts that did not require replacing we worked the job down to about $3100. The problem I have is that they ultimately replaced three vital parts: A band, chain and torque converter. The other parts were gaskets and seals. Finally, after receiving the vehicle back, it died the first day. The reason was due to a malformed or leaking seal. -- I have a hard time believing that 18 hours of labor was necessary to perform the job. Im not only thinking of repair but removal time/reinstalling. -- In final, the owner and employees arent bad people, theyre just people. Its a company and it needs to generate income. I only wish that they didnt have a blanket charging method. If it should only take an hour to remove, four to rebuild and an hour to reinstall (it was done the next day) then I should only have been billed for that. I hope this helps!

My linkage was broken and my gears werent shifting. I had the car towed to AAMCO on Kennedy in Tampa.The manager Drew argued with me on the phone saying I was wrong about my car and he had no idea why I would bring in the car in the first place. He called me back a couple hours later saying the linkage was broken with a condescending attitude. In which case, what do you know, I was correct! He was supposed to call me back with an estimate on the price and when he was going to get it fixed. He said he would be a quick fix. He never did. I was picked up by my mother to get back to my car, and I spoke to Scotty at the office when I arrived at AAMCO. He told me there was nothing here about my car and nothing was fixed and that Drew never called back. So I decided to tell him that Drew was a jerk to me and was trying to make a customer complaint. Instead he said Oh really?! And walked out of the office in a hurry, came back with my key and threw it at my hand. I was so disgusted at the customer treatment I encountered I left in a very bad mood. The mechanic spoke to my mother and said he looked at my car and I was correct about my car and what it needed to be fixed and didnt understand why it wasnt fixed already (quick fix). He also told me the cable needed to be replaced as well (when the tow truck guy told me my cable was fine) and said it would cost over a hundred dollars to fix when the linkage is about $10-$20 dollars for the cost and labor. Not only are they crooks, but they are terrible to their customers. Im definitely making a complaint to corporate.

Shifter cable went on my Lexus SUV. Called Amco telling them it had a lot of miles on the car and I didn’t want to invest too much into it, if anything. They told me a shifter cable was probably nominal and it was worth the investment. Close to thousand dollars later I left with that “ shifter cable repair“. There after I was sitting in the car still in drive, but off and I went to remove my keys and I realized I was able to. Meaning that even though the car was off and was not in park I could remove my keys. That’s a problem. I realize no one should do that. But if I sell a car that’s a liability! And that’s all part of fixing the shifter. They implies that I just shouldn’t do that. Prior to me bringing it to the shop I had to have it in park before being able to take key out. So he is suggesting that they coincidentally went at the same time. And now they need to charge me take the dashboard apart and fix that key lock.Also, When I first took the car in I thought the tear in the seat was worse than when I first brought it in. Now when I went to pick up the car I swear there are scratches on the side of it that were not there before. Call me skeptical. They might seem nice to get you in but I don’t trust them further than I can throw them.I figured it was nicer to to share my experience with you here than blasting it on Twitter. Met with a gentlemen by the name of John, he was knowledgeable and straight forward. They repaired my vehicle in a timely manner.

AAMCO screwed me!!! I paid 2,900 for a rebuilt transmission and it took them 30 days to repair. I was told 3-4 days. I picked up the car and was told it was good to go. I didn’t like how it bucked like a horse when it shifted and made noise from under the car. They told me it was normal. It was a 1992 Acura legend. They told me to drive it from Tampa to Atlanta and it needed time to break in and allow the parts to loosen up. Well long story short it exploded under the car 40 miles outside of Atlanta. Transmission fluid was everywhere. It was towed to AAMCO. The following Monday The AAMCO there said there was transmission fluid in the differential where there should have been gear fluid. And they believed it over heated because of that. The AAMCO in Tampa denies they would do such a thing! The engine block is cracked, the differential is blown, and the transmission is cooked and AAMCO says to bad. Keep in mind if you have any kind of issue it could take moths to hear back form corporate. My car has been sitting broken since March 22, 2013 There insurance company claims they are investigating....Count it now 60 days plus in rental car!NEVER, EVER TRUST THEM!!!

I cant say enough about this shop. I usually hate going to auto shops being a woman - I always feel like they see me as sitting duck. I was having problems with my car - it was shifting hard. I figured it was a transmission problem and knew it was going to cost a lot so I got several quotes. Aamco was the third quote I got. The guys at the South Tampa Aamco were great. For the first time in my life, I didnt feel like I was being taken for a ride. They not only fixed it quickly, but the service manager there, Curtis, walked me through the issues in laymans terms so I could understand what was happening and what they were going to do to fix it. He was not only very patient with me but also charged what I believe was a very fair price. Theyre my auto repair guys now - no question about it. Thank you guys!

I asked for free estimate on my car to see what was wrong with it. So they took my engine apart and then told me be 100 dollars to put it back together. When I gave it to him big ran it would would crank. They said the motor is just taking apart and they would put it back together for 100 dollars. They said though it wouldnt crank. These guys are crooks.... STAY AWAY

I would highly recommend this AAMCO to all my friends and family! Scott and Drew are very friendly and went out of their way to help me! They really do care about their customers. My radiator had cracked due to a bad thermostat and when I went to another car shop they wanted to charge me almost $1000 to fix it which is absurd. Drew and Scott really took care of me and I felt valued as a customer instead of a female walking in about to be taken advantage of by these other car shops! They are very affordable and very quick to get the work done so I wasnt waiting around for days on the repair and I was able to get back to my life. They answered all my questions and explained throughly what needed to be done and they stand behind their work! I know if I have I have any other issues I will definately go back to them!! Do not go to anyone else if you have an issue because you will be ripped off! You will be happier with AAMCO!!!

Overly priced, very unprofessional, total disregard of car care. After keeping my car for over a week and making up fictitious diagnosis they charged me over $1,000 just to put it in a distributor and later on to find out they installed it wrong. One of the mechanics took my car for a joyride and a month later for passing the toll without a SunPass. This place is a butcher shop and a joke. I advise you never take your car here if you dont have time to squander.

The service was quick and efficient but a week later I had to take my car into another shop because the belt that AAMCO replaced was put on too tight and it messed up my water pump, forcing me to buy a new one. I am disappointed that I had to put double the money into fixing my car because AAMCO messed up.

The guys at AAMCO were great last week when we had some switch/sensor go bad on our Acura RDX. Acura could not get us in for an appt for a week so we dropped into AAMCO on the same day (Friday around noon). Turned out they needed one part from Acura (which Acura then further dropped the ball because their parts department didnt get it couriered out and failed to get the part to them). One of the guys from AAMCO then stopped @ Acura on his way into work on Sat morning, picked up the part and had the vehicle done by 930/1000. Murry was especially helpful to work with.

It was a great experiance - very professinal and knowledgeble technicians and staff. I would recommend Aamco to everyone. They saved me a lot of money by troubleshooting and finding the the problem the first time.

I went to this AAMCO every other Tuesday for a month, they threw parts at my car until it broke down. They never could figure out what was wrong. I was emailed a review from AAMCO and wrote just that. Today the manager called my phone and harassed me for writing a bad review, also he called me stupid. Terrible
