This is a warning to anyone who chooses this business.I had my 2012 Kia Optima towed to this location last Friday because it was apparent that my starter was not working. Upon the advice of the manager of Ice Cold Air (my current shop and mechanic), I took it here because they previously changed the starter and it was supposed to be under warranty.Upon arrival the next day on Saturday (March 21st), the manager Derrick Pena and another young guy with tattoos went to look at my car while I was there, and they proceeded to put in a new battery in my car. Their assumption was incorrect, so they went ahead and put a new starter in the car.After a few hours, the manager purposely kept me away from seeing the repairs to my car. They decided to push my Kia inside of the bay to prevent me from watching while I tried to gauge the repair. A couple of minutes later, the guy with the tattoos approached me very casually and told me that my motor was blown, like it was no big deal as he smirked with excitement.Aside from the bad news I was given, this guy with the tattoos told me that he would sell me an engine for $3500, but he would knock off $500 to be nice to me.I was not happy at all, so I called the Manager of Ice Cold Air and told him what happened. He immediately recommended that I have the car put back together and towed to his location in Zephyrhills.On Monday morning, I called and spoke to Derick Pena the Manager and informed him that my car was to be towed from his shop. I also asked that my car be put back in the way it arrived to his shop and he hung up on me.When the tow company arrived and picked up my car and brought it across town to Ice Cold Air, the Manager Shawn immediately was disgusted because the components on top of my engine were torn apart.As seen in the uploaded pictures, this shop left my car in shambles and another garage had to locate missing intake bolts, re-assemble the loose starter, install a new intake gasket and replace a broken coolant hose located under the intake.Upset and furious, I called this shop on Monday late morning and explained that my car was not put back together. They said, They probably dont know what they are doing, they can put it back together themselves. Who the heck says that? Can you imagine this happening to your car?Following the advice of the Manager at Ice Cold Air, I wanted the owners phone number to Big Mechanic. His name is Steve Torregiante and I wanted answers on why his shop acted in such an unprofessional manner? I knew that this shop was upset that I wasnt going to buy the engine, so they purposely left my car apart to upset me.The owner never answered his phone or called me back after leaving two voicemails. Today is Saturday the 28th and he still hasnt called me and its apparent this is a very bad business in all. I will never take my car to this shop again and I dont think anyone else should either.To add injury to insult, I paid Ice Cold Air to put my car back together and I was told that my engine was bad. Thanks to the diligence and kindness and professionalism of the Manager, he was able to dictate to me that my car has an active recall on my engine. Due to bad bearing wear inside of the engine under the TSB distributed by Kia, I was told that BIg Mechanic should have known this issue. Instead, they decided to attempt to rip me off and when I told them I was towing it away, they decided to leave my car purposely apart.Today, my car is at Kia getting a new engine replacement, new starter and new intake. I thank Ice Cold Air and their help and expertise for saving me from being ripped off from this establishment. I have since filed a grievance with the Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services in seeking the monies I have spent to get my car back together. I will not stop there because I plan on seeking someone who can look into getting this shop shut down for attempting to rip me off. I have contacted Nikki Frieds office and Channel 8 WFLA in hopes that they never do this to anyone again.

This place is great, no exaggeration. They had me up and running in no time. My jeep was over heating and they repaired only what needed to be repaired and didnt try selling me on parts I didnt need. I had my van dropped off to see what was wrong with my ac. After a couple of hours they let me know that since it looks like the problem was deeper in under the dashboard, they would need to spend a couple of hours or so and bill me $85 an hr to diagnose the problem. That was fine but since they couldnt keep my big service truck inside overnight that I would have to bring it back early one morning to let them do that. The invoice I git says, n/c to diagnose the problem, but when I wouldnt leave it, the mgr Eric charges me $85 plus a shop fee of $4.25, guess that was for the pencil he used to rip me off, so, whatever you do, never take your rig there, especially if the RIP off king, Eric is there. My brother had dealt with Dorian, and he took very good care of him, thus the reason for having him take it to him, but this new i$%#t, Eric was in charge and all he knows how to do us charge fees for doing nothing.What is sad is that when I lived in S Tampa, I used these guys all the time and had great service, since i no longer live there and my brother had been satisfied with Dorian when he worked on his rigs, i asked him to take it in so they could check it out, but your new guy was in charge and not only ripped me off, but has now lost all my familys business and everyone else I come in contact with, as I will continue to renew this review until something is done to make it right.

I cant say I hated the place. But strongly disliked. I got dual exhaust on my truck. Sounded nice, and the price was right. A couple months after getting the exhaust done, one of the hangers broke, then the other. I took it back to get fixed, which they did. Over the past month, I have had the fixed hanger break, then the other again! Being they are over an hour drive away from me, I thought I could use some wire to support the exhaust until I could make it there for them to fix again. A weld broke separating the muffler from the dual outlet pipes. Upon further investigation, the two hangers they fixed, looked like left over parts. The welds are horrible, there is wire sticking out around ALL of the welds. A third hanger they used separated from the frame. This is without a doubt the WORST exhaust system Ive ever had. I will not return there. This is not my first bad experience with them either. I had brakes done, and a transmission; both were horrible experiences.

I Want to thank Big Mechanic for going over and beyond for me as a female. I was in town and needed a oil change really bad and i stopped at 5 shops i repeat 5 shops. And no one wanted to help me saying i had to leave vehicle. So i made it to your shop and seen a lot of vehicle in parking lot and just knew that i was going to be told the same thing. But the Manager Jason walked out to me before i can even get out of my car and was very professional and asked me how he could help. I told him i needed a oil change really bad and no one would help me. he invited me in where is was cool and he said he would take care of me. even know he had so much work to do. he pulled my car on lift and changed my oil himself and showed me that i had lights on dash. i told him i hit a tire and broke a wire under car. he said was abs sensor and he repaired it for me. I strongly recommend this shop to everyone i know. he dont know but i took a stack of his business cards and i will give them to everyone. He treated me as i was a part of his family and as a female that means a lot. i will be back there and will send all my friends and family to Mr Jason for all work.. Thank you again so much for helping me

Worst place..got a break job drove 1 mile and the tire came off and broke the lugs off i called the guy up to come get he asked if i could drive it then he came without tools or jack went back could not fix it tgen went back 2 more time a total of four trips but that was not the bad part the lack of concern for my and 4 year old grand daughters safety was... he did not apologize and no discount 2 days later my breaks started making noise now i am in the middle of them trying to find a day to come fix it....if they fix it and apologize i will take this down ...

For one, they put an exhaust on my truck, which not failed once but twice. Im pretty sure I can weld better than them and I dont know how to weld. Another, my truck sat there overnight. however, I got confirmation from surpass saying my truck was driven on a few toll roads overnight and into the morning. so, Im guessing someone took my truck home for the night? of course, they are denying it. that is pure theft. they stole my truck for the night and they stole money out of my surpass account

Dorian and Roscoe are honest and great mechanics. Everything that needed to be done was shown to me and explained in detail. These guys gave me a fair price and quickly had the work done. I have had a few jobs done on my car here at a fair price. I bring them the part and they have it installed quickly. There is an Advanced Auto Parts store across the street so parts are typically easy to get after your car is diagnosed. I highly recommend Dorian and Roscoe. Ellos trabajan es muy bien!

Took my Ford Escort to Shawn and Jose at the recommendation of the folks at Advance on Friday. I didnt know what the problem was withat my car. Jose efficiently checked my and diagnosed my car. Shawn worked up the price for me. I brought the car back on Saturday to get the repair done, and the price out the door was exactly what Shawn gave me the day before. These guys are fair, honest and efficient. Ive been searching for a good all around repair shop and they are it! I will be taking my car back to them to figure out an electrical problem.

My second time here was today 7/20/2016. Choose this place because of the 4/5 star reviews it had on google review. Based off my experience 5/5 star service is what was provided. Great knowlegeable staff, competitive/ fair pricing, honest and professional employees. Had to get an alternator and oxygen sensor replaced. Will definately be visiting them again should I have car issues in the future.

Today was my second trip to Big Mechanic on Hillsborough.Dorian( customer contact) and manager and The Mechanic Antonio deserve Mad Props!!!My first trip there was an emergency trip a few days before Christmas when my alternator just died, in the rain no less.Dorian is very attentive, doesnt try to oversell and has the calnest demeanor. Which is awesome when you are panicing because its almost Christmas and your car just died and money really isnt allotted for car repairs.Both trips He has gone above and beyond and made it affordable!!!!It is very clear Antonio takes great pride in his work!!! Mr. Jose is the bomb. We went to all the salvage yards and we went to A/C PLACES and part places you can name from here to Port Richey and Springhill. Def worth the wait we tried to figure the problem out for 8 months and no help. Honest this is a true place yall. We come all the way from Pasco county up near Hudson for this go see Jose if you need help. He fixed our A/c and everyone know being in Florida we need it. Smh thank God.

The manager is not truthful. He has lied to me 5 times in 4 days why my air condition compressor burned up in 2 months while under 1 year warranty. Trying to find something else wrong to charge me. Very shady.

My wifes car had an extremely loud exhaust leak and annoying noise while driving. I took it in for an estimate and Jason the technician showed .e that my o2 sensor was not properly installed...he screwed the sensor back in and the noise went away...this place is very honest ...they could have told me anything needed to be welded or replaced..thank you so .much for your help...its not easy finding an honest technician in your industry.

I went to this place thursday 23 of march for my muffler and alternator change. These people over charged me for the alternator almost 500$ and charged me for the muffler that they did not even touch. On my way out after done paying for everything, i took a look under my car i realized no work was done. I was on my way of calling the cop, then the manager, the one who told me my car was done, now he was trying to put the blame on his employee...Liar MF..justin...please dont do business with this place...they are going to over charge you...at the end, this MF (justin) charged me over 760$ for an alternator...
