Booked a trailer hitch installation appointment 2 months in front. Went there the appointment day and was told they didnt have part. Why couldnt they call me earlier and save me a trip? The installation said the part will arrive on next Monday and he will call me. Never did! The guy also gave me his phone # and I tried reaching him more than 10 times. Never answered the call. Eventually I had to call U-haul call center to cancel the appointment and get the refund.

Very courteous. Didnt have the trailer we reserved, so replaced it with a truck.

Make sure you bring it back on time with proper gas level and its all good.

Staff fairly friendly. Back ramp on trailer slightly bent so it wont fully close on one side. Two workers forced it closed but I am not two guys. Tried to report it on form texted to me but the link was expired. Equipment otherwise in good shape

Needed to haul an 8ft outdoor table and 6 chairs between Cupertino and Santa Clara. This location was perfect for that. There were plenty of vehicles available when I arrived, and less than 10 minutes later I was in a van. The vehicle was clean and I had no problem completing the move.I knocked off a star since there is no parking on the premise, which means you need to have someone drop you off and pick you up, or find some parking nearby.Note - There were a couple of people at the street side entrance, offering help with the move if you need an extra pair of hands.

The crew in Sunnyvale are so unbelievably kind! Thank you for all of your help and being so understanding when I got stuck in traffic! I’ll always be back to this location for sure!

The after hours drop is great, the app. is a bit tricky, but it allows you more flexibility.

Fast service. At night it is hard to figure out where is a key box.It is on the front door a small slot next to sign.My truck didnt have cruise control, but was clean, and didnt have mechanical issues.

Worst customer service I ever came across. Two dude standing outside the store - literally saw customers going inside and yet no one shows up for help. Customers go out and have to shout for someone to show up at register.When asked questions for various boxes - guys were too busy to check on their phones but yo help customers - I mean what the flock!?No parking place for customer in the premises. How a customer is going to load 20+ huge boxes if they ask to park on the street. When this point was raised, gentleman replies with ‘it’s all about communication, if you would have mentioned that you are buying boxes, we would allow to park near store — ‘ i mean seriously ? :DI won’t recommend this place and for sure I am not going to give my business to this place. Utter disappointment!!

The premises are clean and well organized. I used the mobile check in process - which was a little shaky from a technical sense - and I was able to find my van easily. Every employee I interacted with was friendly and they even moved a van that was a little close to mine to give me more room without me having to ask. They were also practicing proper social distancing and mask wearing during the pandemic.Im happy to come back here a few more times this month to compete my move. They have so many vehicles in stock!

Dont go here, go to Enterprise truck rental down the street. Youll probably save money, and the people there are really helpful and nice.

Did mobile pickup to avoid contact with people, but when I went to pickup my key there was a customer with no mask, and neither employees wearing masks. They did have a shield between them and customers, but they are handling keys and other equipment and paperwork. I politely asked the employee to put on a mask before helping me and he did not and curtly said, “I’m behind the screen.”If I hadn’t already checked in I would have gone to a different UHaul. Would not recommend.Truck was fine and had no problems with the actual driving experience.

The truck I was assigned by the app was also given to other people. I had to go inside, get another truck, then get the supplies that I pre-ordered. Folks were helpful though.

Impossible to contact by phone. Over 60 minutes wait time. Returned trailer and they wouldnt confirm Id returned it for three days.

The truck share 24/7 is easier than I thought. You can pick up the truck and driver away in 5 mins. I recommend you to give it a try.

They had what I needed, when I needed it without having to pre-book. Convenient enough for a 4star from me.

Scheduled a Van pickup for the afternoon. I showed up to pick it up and they informed me that I’d have to take my personal car with me or park it on a busy highway-like street. If you’re not going to offer parking while I use your vehicle, either wait until my Tesla can drive itself home, or make that clear when making the reservation so I can make other plans to get there. I’ve rented from uhaul in the past and never had this issue.

Did online reservations for a 5x9 trailer for a pickup of 9 AM for the following morning. Went in and checked in. Got hooked up and left in about 15 minutes. Friendly staff and quick service

Systems were down. Was there at 830. They didnt tell me this fact until 9am. Went to Penske.

After a little debacle with dispatch, this location was able to help me find a car hauler and get us on our way!

Rented a 5x9 trailer with ramp $25, and bought a hitch kit $25. Staff was great and hooked it up for me.

Theyve got exactly what we were looking for as we are just about to finish our move to SF!

Although the majority of staff here seem competent, I was assigned to a gentleman, Daniel, who was to obtain a quote for a trailer hitch installation, and to get it installed. He had a lot of trouble navigating the computer, and was less than amiable, but it seemed he was new, in training and having a hard time so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. When the day of installation came several weeks later (and only one week to my move-out date), nothing had been ordered. It took this gentleman 40 minutes to confirm that while I waited in line. Had to go with an alternative, last minute option

No one was wearing ppe masks, though the staff stands behind a clear plastic screen and has boxes to create distance between them and customers.Staff was very nice, but when I showed up for my appointment to get a hitch connector installed they seemed confused and said the guy was still at lunch and moved it back 30 minutes. They estimated it would then take about an hour. 2.5 hours later it was done, not a big deal but annoying.

My roommate and I went to this U-haul place to to buy some moving boxes and tapes in an evening with heavy rain.We met very friendly and considerate staff at this place! We came when they were having dinner, they went out to help us load the boxes and reminded us of the opened trunk. They are always willing to help the customers and provide the best service.

One star rating. We were here today (Saturday) for a 4pm pick up time. We did the online check in ahead of time. We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation time. We didn’t get the truck until 4:45. Yes we waited 50 minutes after doing online check in. Apparently somebody didn’t show up for their shift. There was one guy behind the counter and ten people in line.

The guys here are great. They are very thorough and making sure that the trailer (in my case) was up to par. As a matter of fact they went through 2 trailers, but the 3rd time was the charm.

As with every u haul Ive been to, the service they provide is awesome, but you end up waiting in line forever. (I tried the phone app but that ended up not working as they were looking for references to talk to and my family was not hooked to their phone... When I complained that I dont need references if I go to the counter, the agent just closed the chat on me!). When I finally got helped it was quick and easy, truck I rented was sparkling new:)

Worst UHaul experience. Even after having reservation for 15 they turned us away.Talked to the manager on phone and he wouldnt even listen to us saying blame the corporate office. There were several trucks there but manager was lazy to assign us one.

I went to return an unused mattress bag and unopened roll of tape. Be careful when buying mattress bags. They are NOT deep enough to accommodate newer, thicker mattresses. I was lucky to notice BEFORE I opened it. Was only $3.95 but,, 4 bucks is 4 bucks. Right?

I hate this place, we need a negative rating to accurately score these folks. If there was a competitor who offered the interstate rental option with trailers I would use them... I/we consumers have no alternative option when comes to this service. Their reservation team is a joke, no one can resolve anything or answer basic questions.

Two days in a row I have watched Cass (unsure of spelling), one of the service techs here, field impatient, rude customer after imparient rude customer. The guy is a saint, he is patient and attentive no matter how many times he has to repeat the same tired lines over and over again. He was also extremely helpful in helping us figure out this double charge on our account. Thanks dude, I would have already gone postal on those customers.

Just one guy in the store... He fills the details of the customers on computer, takes keys, goes out to give the vehicle and returns, which takes about 10 mins per customer... though he does a good job, company should add at least one more employee here...You need to stand in the queue even if you have online reservation. I have been there twice in last 2 months and have to wait about 40-50 mins each time to get the vehicle... returns are easy.

Ive been to several U-Hauls and this place is not so bad compared to others. My only complaint is there is not enough staff, just one guy working during my visit. This place has a good stock of rentals.

I have a reservation but still need to wait in the line for one hour to get my truck. This is ridiculous. No on-site parking, which is a pain.

Showed up Saturday morning at 8:30a with a line of people out the door and only one person working the desk. Picking up a reserved truck took over an hour. I see automated kiosks in uhauls future.

The parking lot layout doesnt leave any room for errors. For example, some incident occurred with a guy trying to rent a large truck with a car trailer, and it was left blocking the lot for quite a while. Ended up having to spin around and get back out the entrance. But all said, it was an overall generally fine experience.

Had what I needed and the wait was short in the morning. Always have a confirmed reservation.

Very friendly staff. Very reasonably priced services and easy to get and return truck and trailer. We have been using their services more than 12 years now.

The staff name CASS white dude long hair. Was rude and seems in a rush he just told me to open the door and leave the keys inside and i can go. I feel uncomfortable leaving just like that i need a proof that i was billed correctly. Iong story short i got my receipt in front desk to confirm my billing statement. He need to be retrained and follow proper procedure. Bad customer service.

Quite possibly the worst experience Ive ever had as a consumer. Just wanted to buy a couple of boxes, it couldnt possibly take too long, right? Wrong. So very, very wrong. Only one person was working on a Friday at 4pm, telling us he would be right back while going to set-up another customers trailer hitch, and 45 minutes and me telling myself he has to be almost done several hundred times later, he was back... and I was still second in line.

Guy at the counter was super fast and polite. Everything was awesome, perfect trailer for job and not too much paper work, everything automatically billed with my credit card in their system.

I called to retrieve a price quote on temporary trailer brake lights and when I spoke with someone there he was checking on the pricing and just hung up on me. When I called back I got a women in Arizona (why I get a random location when trying to reach Sunnyvale is beyond me) who could or would not connect me with the Sunnyvale location for an unknown reason. Also the Arizona women took my name and phone number to have the Sunnyvale location call me back...no call back. U-haul should close this location. Its an embarrassment to their company. Ive dealt with U-haul many times and never dealt with anything like this before. I highly recommend using any other location.

This place has a serious lack of manpower. Just 1 person at the counter serving customers (although there are 3 counters). Takes on average 10-15 min to serve a single person! Its very busy during moving seasons and you can expect to stand in line for hours in order to get service. I just went to buy some boxes and i had to stand in line for over an hour. Imagine that. I went multiple times and each time had to wait in line for 30 min or more

Used this location for the 10 ft truck and the 20 ft truck for two moves two years apart. Both times the truck performed perfectly. As for the pick up process, 5 stars for the first move, 1 star for the second move. I showed up on a busy Saturday morning and they only had one associate working. I used the smart phone app for the automated pickup, but it required me to get my key from an associate rather than from the electronic lock box the instruction video said I would use. This meant I waited in line for 50 minutes just to be handed a key, causing me to be 40 minutes late to my move. I reserved the truck a week in advance, so you knew I was coming. Let me know if you add the lock box option, otherwise the app pickup is just as slow as waiting in line to speak to an associate.

A necessary evil. The local staff are good people, hard working and courteous. However the corporate system is a real PITA!They wont rent local trucks for more than 24-hours. Should a move which last longer than a day, it will be difficult to plan. You gotta keep calling them to extend the contract and hope you can keep the truck you already have. Otherwise, youll need to rerun and get another one. Every. Day.Who the hell comes up with these policies? The local staff are already over worked and having to renew each truck every day just seems stupid, counterproductive and inefficient.But the fact remains there arent a whole lot of other options out there. So uhaul seems to exist in that same nether world of business with Comcast and other monopolies.

These guys are always busy but they have a lot of equipment. Give yourself extra time to pickup the gear.

Generally a nice experience here, but occasionally they try to charge for gas even when you have filled up to where it was when you picked up the car so be careful.

These guys are not only incompetent but cheating without any remorse. Dropped the van after hours. They charged me extra mileage. Now I can not get hold of anybody who can fix the charge.

Chose to rent a truck from the app. I still had to spend an hour in line just to get damage protection added. Utterly understaffed and inefficient.

Parking was sketchy on this part of El Camino. Only go here when I cant get a truck at my usual Mountain View location. Its otherwise the usual U-Haul experience, so no complaints about their trucks or service.

Rating it above average due the staff, who were both friendly and efficient.

New policy: they request and require you to give them permission to take a picture of your drivers license (both front & back) and then they will upload the photos to their database, so that all of theie employees have access and could steal (sell) your identity, because well hey, they also require a major credit card to rent anything, so there! Bam! If youre a felon get a job there....Your in, to hundreds of personal identities to choose from!!!I called customer service, reached Alabama (really?!) Its their new policy.The worse customer service ever!What is wrong with this company?!Honestly, I dont mind providing my license and go ahead document the info, but a friggen (I prefer the other F word) picture uploaded into their system?!!! BS.Im a lonnnnng-time customer, but NEVER will I walk through their doors again.

Not set up for retail sales for boxes and moving materials, no fast track, waited an hour to buy some packing tape behind rental contract negotiations.

This place is TERRIBLE. I made an appointment to have a wiring harness put on my car. When I got there I learned tat the guy who did the harnessing wasnt scheduled to come in for two days later!!! No call, no nothing. And the guy in store is RUDE and STUPID as well. Id be surprised if he can tie his own shoes.

DONT GO TO UHAUL!! One of the most frustrating experiences I have ever had. I would strongly recommend not using uhaul period. This location and there lack of customer service was only a small part of the 4 hour nightmare experience. The terrible experience was due to reservation mistakes, locations being closed at the same time my reservation was to be picked up, my rental wasnt available, had to drive to 3 different locations, bad I dont care attitudes. After all that the worst part is... you cant even call to complain and be heard. No supervisor to speak to, no returned calls. I spoke with at least a dozen customer service and traffic employees and out of all of them only one treated me well or even cared to help.

Upon returning rental vehicle, I was two hours late, which I called and let them know i was going to be late, they said no problem, when I returned the vehicle, I was told I eas going to be charged snother whole additional day. But when I received my receipt, the cost breakdown read something completely different than what I was shown the day begore when I picked ip the rental. $19.95 / day rental fee with miliage at $1.09 /mile was what I signed up for. $75.00 / day with $.59 / mile, enviromental fees, taxes, gas, is what I ended up paying for. Two days rental fee should have been $39.90, not $75 for one day. The manager said i would be vharged an additional day for being two hours late upon returning vehicle. He never ssid that when I called to let them know I was going to be late. And then, he did not even charge me for the two days, he charged me for 1 day at an inflated price. I dhould have been able to keep the vehicle another day if I was payjng for an additional day. I dont understsnd where or why I was charged $75 for one day with gas and tax and other charges. I ended up shelling out $100 for a one day rental that was $19.95 per day, for an in town move. Bad communication on the managers part, he dosent care about customers, and it shows. Ripoff!

U-Haul in the Bay Area are always busy, and dont have great customer service to be honest. There are not awful, but expect to spend some time even if you have a reservation in advance.
