My favorite bookstore in Springfield. I visit every summer when backbin town visiting family. Its got a nice collection of classics, contemporary lit, general fiction, social science, philosophy, and theology. BookMarx has mastered that used bookstore vibe that book hunters are always in search for. And a bonus: Googey the cat!

There are always Vonnegut, Salinger, and Fitzgerald books available, but I can hardly ever find Kafka, which has recently been a negative thing for me, but the prices are good. There are always odd little bits of Burroughs, Roth, Kerouac etc., I like this, but the Piss becomes bothersome to me.

Great selection!! We enjoyed perusing several books, especially in the science fiction room. Unfortunately, there is an overwhelming smell of cat urine permeating the store and cat hair on the floor, but the cats are very friendly and beautiful. I appreciate shops having furry friends to add to the environment and experience. We bought a book and will be back for more!

They didnt even look at my books before rejecting 80% of them.Whatever they lost out on some great reads because they didnt want to take the time to even look at the books title even though they were in great condition.Regarding religion they basically only have books about the Christian faith . Wouldnt be my first choice if youre looking for anything particular unless its Stephen king or about Jesus

This is a real gem for Springfield. The space feels historic but updated- original brick walls with newer shelves, seating and lighting. There’s a really great selection of literary classics, sci-fi and general fiction- I loved the huge selection of trade paperback classics, a lot of them had phenomenal covers. Not a huge emphasis on non fiction but still a good amount. I appreciated seeing other spiritual views besides Christianity represented here, the Ozarks lack diversity of thought. Super sweet cat who meanders and wants ear scratches! The owner was super nice and I enjoyed chatting with him.

Come for the books, stay for the cat. Also I would like to add that whatever problem they had in the past with bad smells in the store was corrected before I first went there several months ago and Ive never smelled anything off there. An absolutely lovely place.

If I could give this bookstore more than five stars I absolutely would! A store cat came to greet us and kept us company while we browsed the well organized, full, shelves of books. Often times bookstores that take second hand books feel claustrophobic or dusty but that is not the case here. I will definitely make another trip to Springfield with the intention of visiting again!

Excellent place to spend an hour or two. Old books and some new mixed in a quiet relaxing atmosphere. Sit on the floor or in a chair to read a few pages of an interesting find. A small art gallery is in the back, with a monthly rotating exhibit, and is part of the First Friday Art Walk. Friendly and helpful owner who can help with a request for a certain book or just advice.

Welcomed by cute furry friends, also runs away from you when you get over friendly, but doesnt mind getting a pat or two. Good collection of books, even comics but sometimes runs out of stock, may need to order in advance if you are looking something particular. But great to explore other options as they are featured weekly or seasonally.

If you are looking for a great place to watch the game and get rowdy with your bros DONT GO HERE. They do have really great books, though. And a cat. Also, it is locally owned by a really swell fellow who is full of excellent recommendations and humorous political quips. Say hey, read a book, get smart, find true love.

I go here with my friend often to see if there are any interesting books. I have purchased a few books from here and have never been dissatisfied. There is a cat in the store so keep that in mind if youre allergic, but the cat is quite friendly.I was in there with my friend and ex-girlfriend. The cat came up to us while my friend and I spoke about Chinese politics and started purring and letting up pet it. I dont know if that was because it wanted attention or for us to stop talking about the current hostilities and VPN ban, but I found it to be great.Obviously you can find cheaper books on Amazon or thrift books, but, every so often I find an amazing deal.Although I disagree with Marx and nearly everthing which is came from him, I would say that this place is worth going into a building with his name on it.
