Terrible customer service. I had 3 communications with them after renting my textbooks. The first communication was in person (Thursday, August 20th), where the same gentlemen that is always working there was of no help. I gave him my name because I could not find my confirmation email and he told me he had no record of my order in his physical binder (He never checked the computer) and that there was nothing he could do. I went home and saw that the transaction went through on my credit card and emailed them-no response for several days. I called the store (Monday, August 24) and it was the same man, I explained the transaction went through and he asked for my confirmation email and I had to tell him yet again that I did not have any record of one. He then told me he would look up my order on the computer, which he could have done in our previous interaction. He informed me my order was an online order and told me my tracking number. I immediately tracked it and it was at my apartment clubhouse. I picked it up that day and realized I had ordered a wrong book so I went in the same day to return it. Even though I received the order THAT day, he said I could not return it because it was past the first Friday of the semester, took my book and gave me a receipt that says I paid $85 for nothing. I am very frustrated with the customer service and lack of any understanding for something that was not my fault or due to inaction.

Cheaper than the OTC and MSU bookstores. Easy to order online or in person. Good place to sell used books or buy or rent for the semester. Ive done all three. It looks like colleges are trying to go all digital to cut these guys out, but until then, I go here every semester.

Ive tried calling the store since 8 am when they say they are open, but have yet to get an answer. Additionally, when I go to the website to look up the book I need, I select the course, and the number, and the book it pulls up is for philosophy not physics even though I triple checked that I had selected physics. Not a good sign for a place where people spend good money. I think Ill just give my business to Student Book Exchange where they answer their phones and their website works properly and gives accurate information.

I have been going to Text Bucks for my book purchases for a while now, and I am never dissapointed by the immense amount of savings. I decided to go there today for a summer class book and realized that the book at Missouri States bookstore was anywhere between $240-300. I was so thankful when I was able to get the book for $77 plus tax, at Text Bucks. I am happy for this great service that Text Bucks supplies students, and now I can use that extra money to pay my rent. Thanks again!!

Text Bucks is a great place to buy books for college! Every time I have been in, the owner takes one look at my booklist and grabs all my books and access codes I need in one quick walk around the back. To my relief he always grabs available rentals and used books before new. He knows his business forwards and backwards. Prices are comparable to other places, but what really makes Text Bucks outstanding is the customer service.

Just got screwed over! I ordered textbooks a week ago, but discovered that I did not need one of them. I called and asked about canceling it, but they informed that I should when I came to pick them up. However, I was never told that they were ready to be picked up (I received an email saying that the status of my order would change to pick-up when they were ready) and my account only said shipped. Confused, I stopped by the store, and was informed that their IT guy changed it and that the guy didnt know why, but my books were there. I asked about a refund, but I missed the last day for it. Now, I understand policy in refunds, BUT IT WAS THEIR MISTAKE THAT I WASNT PROPERLY INFORMED. AND I CALLED IN ADVANCE TO CANCEL. Youve lost my business.

I wasnt rude because I work retail and strive to be nice to everyone who is also in retail so it wasnt because it was me. Also they accepted 7 of my books and I only walked away with $15. On December 18 my senior daughter and I bought a history book back to Text Bucks on Madison. Just a background for you: When we got the book back in September, the corners of every cover page where coming apart and some scaring on the book. I even said, Oh my word this is pretty rough. As time went on and my daughter used the book the clear part and the book started to come apart. We were babying it and I actually put tape on it to try and keep it together. Then it started coming apart from the middle clear part sort of about 1/4 center over. It took that stupid label that Text Bucks placed on, but this book had been used long before we had it. So the corner fell off and we had been babying it. My daughter took it in and the attitude manager named AUSTIN who has no customer service skills was so rude to her. So I went in and he was even ruder to me. I am 48 years old and a business owner and this little twerp treated me horrid and told me he wished he could trust everyone, but he cant. I was LIVID So I went to the other text bucks on National and she told me that he was her boss. Seriously, he has absolutely NO customer service skills what so ever. She got him on the phone and I wanted the owners number or how to reach them, because his attitude was HORRID. He told me that he was not at liberty to give that out. I will not have any establishment talk to me or my daughter that way. He told me his exact words, You pay 30.00 and I keep the book OR you pay 60 and you keep the book. That is it. I did. I paid $30.00 but this is NOT over. I will post my experience on the BBB, google, facebook and everywhere else I can post it. You need to maybe get someone in the office who can actually talk to customers. I, nor my daughter or any of children will walk in your establishment again. We will order from Amazon or Student Exchange. I just want my 30.00 back and I want an adult to actually call and talk to me about my experience. Austin WILL NOT call me, unless he has an apology for me.

Terrible rental experience with them and will never return. First I received my rentals in binders that were too small for the books which made using the books a task within itself. I returned the books a day late just to receive a $35 charge per book. Best to go to student book exchange instead where they will be more likely to respect you as a customer and think about your future business.

Staff is always rude and not very helpful. They always have an attitude like the last thing they want to be doing is helping you. If you have a rental that you forgot to bring to turn back in with the rest of your books, they won’t notify you that you’re missing a book. You won’t get an email or call to remind you about the book until a debt collector calls you to have you pay hundreds of dollars to the collection company or they will sue you. Student Book Exchange is way more helpful and efficient and cares about more than just taking your money! Definitely would rather pay the extra money at the MSU book store to not have to deal with Textbucks’.

Colleges are notorious for selling books at high prices and buying them back as a RIP off. This company is worse. At this company I sold 2 textbooks and got $90 when one of those books I bought for $275. I went to the school book store and got $91 for one book alone. My roommate sold 7 books and only got $15 back when the proper price is over $30. Do NOT go to this store if you want a fair exchange. This company relies on college students not checking properly.

This place is horrible in my opinion. Not even worthy of one star. If you dont want to sell books close your doors because your attitude is horrible in my opinion. I called them to see about buying books because I go to two separate colleges; and one of my colleges is year around different schedule in California. The other college does not have the same outline as the MSU semesters. We do not have the standard times off like MSU (which is the other college I go to) I simply wanted to see if they had the books that I needed to sell to me. Since, it did not comply with their simple minds and what they are used to in their little world; they would not even check to see if they had them. The lady who answered the phone said that will probably be later. Your telling me when to buy my books? You dont even know my schedule. She would not even look to see if they had the books and it was very clear they did not want my business. So, therefore they will not be getting it! Amazon it is! They are cheaper anyway! # poor service is not being willing to check on a book when someone is willing to buy. How do you stay in business? My best educated guess would be all the people who are not yet aware of how unethical you all are! Even more pitiful I doubt that you care! You cannot be a good business if you are willing to lose a sale from a buyer because you dont think it is time for them to buy a book. UNBELIEVABLE. Thank you for not servicing me because I am sure that I will be better off without your service after reading your 2.6 stars out of 5 stars not to mention the comments about how you all are. Thank you I feel blessed that you would not service me. I am sure it was a blessing in disguise.

Im starting my first semester of college, overwhelmed, excited, and trying to save up as much cash as I possibly can. I asked all of my friends where they rent their books and every one of them said Text Bucks and I see why. The negative reviews Ive read dont summarize my experience at all! The individual books I needed were at the OTC location and the owner (I assume) went completely out of his way to get them for me so they could be picked up the following day. The help I received was polite and very matter of fact. I should also mention that I saved around $200 going here vs. looking online/going to the OTC bookstore/the other local options I spent a lot of time looking in to.

I will never go to this place again. I went to return my rented textbooks and the girl at the counter said they would not accept one of them because it had water stains on a few of the pages and that I would instead have to purchase the book. First of all, I picked that book up one time during the whole semester. Otherwise, it has been sitting in the same spot on my desk nowhere near water. Second, the water stains were on the very edge of the pages and only about 10/350 pages were like that. When I spoke to the guy who I assume is a manager, he was very condescending. He said they would have put a sticker on it if there had been any water stains, but when I told him the book had been sitting in the same spot since I got it, he made up some excuses about not being able to re-sell it in its condition and that he hates doing this to people. Maybe dont scam college students then? Clearly thats all this guy cares about because in no way is my book damaged since the water stains are barely visible and again, on the EDGE of a few of the pages. I would understand if it was the majority of the book, but really? A few splotches of water on the edge of 10 pages that didnt even happen because of me? He threatened to hit me with a late charge because he wouldnt process the book until the following week which is after the rental due date and then my card would be charged the full payment for the book anyway so in the end I paid nearly $50 for the book on top of the rental fee I had already paid at the beginning of the semester. Total scam. If you go here, make sure to check all your books for any damages before giving them your cash/card to rent, otherwise I would really suggest skipping this place altogether and taking your business somewhere else.
