6 months on, Im loving my Smart Electric Drive. This little car drives beautifully - has great pick-up and is just an all around great around town car. This time of year (spring) when our solar panels are pumping out around 40 kWh a day, I can go about 75 miles on a free charge. You just cant beat that.Todd, at Herb Chambers Smart was great to work with. When my 3 year lease is up, Im sure Ill be back for another Smart.

Buying my Smart care was a great experience. If they could have made it any easier or more convenient, I dont know how. I made the transaction long distance and everything was ready to go when I showed up in Boston. I picked up the keys and drove to my house in the cape.It was that easy.And the car is amazing...it parks anywhere, gets great mileage and is fun to drive. This was a much better experience than when I bought my other car. The people were nicer and far more helpful.

My 16 Smart was in for service since the driver side head lamp goes on & off itself. I took the front end apart to check before send the car in. And found problem from the ground wire at the plug to the headlight housing. Mr. Mike Robinson was the Service Adviser of this appointment. I straightly told Mr. Robinson that there is something wrong with the wiring harness which plug into the headlight since it goes on & off when the wires move. Call from Mr. Robinson the next day said the technician found no problem with the wires when the car was plugged in to the computer. And I have to put the OEM headlights back on the car for them to go on with more tests. I said to Mr. Robinson that I have already found the problem which are the wires, and I am 200% sure there is nothing relate to the aftermarket headlight that is on the car, since I can take the whole car apart then put back together by myself with no problem. Then Mr. Robinson shot me with this:Then why you brought your car into the dealership??!!!!Simple, because the Smart Center of Boston is the ONLY service center in Boston for Smart car. As a Bostonian, I knew that Herb Chambers is the king of dealers. But I never though the king is working there too!

We had a terrific experience working with Todd Whitelaw here. He was professional, responsive, knowledgeable, and heck, fun and enthusiastic about the smart cars. He answered all our questions, made himself available via phone and email (but was never pushy) and we are LOVING our car. I realize Ive gone on and on about Todd, but we are super happy about the car, too! Wed never considered leasing before, so he was very helpful laying out the info. Were deliberate in our decision-making, but Todd never rushed us. The guy is a gem, folks.

Very pleased with my smart car and buying experience!I was pleasantly surprised to learn that a) smart cars arent as tiny as I thought and b) they get a lot of attention! My experience with buying and driving my smart car were both outstanding. If you are looking for a small car that you can park anywhere (yes, even there), give these a shot. This is my 3rd Smart car. First was a used gasoline powered convertible. Now Im on my 2nd Electric car. Great car for where I live - on an island (Marthas Vineyard). Fun car to drive - plenty of room even for big people and lots of luggage or stuff. Todd makes everything easy in all areas - purchasing/leasing, questions, issues, anything - he is always right on it and gets a solution. I enjoy working with Todd and Herb Chambers Smart Cars of Boston - Im sure you will or have, also.

Competitive pricing, exemplary customer service, and the honesty and integrity one comes to expect when seeking sound automobile advice is, at all times---conveyed with the highest level of sincerity and competence. I trust him implicitly to get the job done! After trading in my 2011 smart for the new 2016 proxy, I can unequivocally say I would not do business with any other dealership! I didnt end up buying a car from this place, but Todd is extremely wonderful. I live several hundred miles away and was trying to get a smart electric drive (as they just dont exist out in the Midwest), and Todd was more than willing to look through and help out with options. A used car that I was looking at was bought after I had inquired about it, but he was able to present leasing offers and had a very easy process for leasing and shipping a car out of state. I would have gone with him months ago if I had known those options existed. I eventually didnt order the car due to a variety of factors that had nothing to do with the smart center, but I highly recommend that if anyone wants a smart electric drive and cant get one locally to contact Todd!

Went in to test drive the Smart Car with a friend. I was terribly curious how it felt to drive one, but it wasnt yet on my list of contenders for purchase. The adorable Fiat had been calling my name since 2009, but I wasnt sure about its track record. I had a Honda Fit that I loved, but it was murdered last year - I thought maybe Id get another Fit.My friend and I played around in the showroom, sat in all the different versions of the Smart, then each went for a test drive with Todd, who we got along with immediately. He was incredibly informed about the vehicle and answered our onslaught of questions and humored our silliness.Smart Car made my list, but I still couldnt fully commit. Decided to give it another test drive. Since I live fairly nearby I wanted to drive a familiar route. We drove down the road to my house so my husband could get a gander and we were both sold.I got the Pure Passion Ice Shine (special edition) - Ive never loved a car more. Its ALL white outside, even the swoop, with black stitched leather interior. The butt warmers and the panoramic roof fill me with joy every time I drive. And let me tell you, you cant beat the sublime smugness you feel when you fit in a city parking spot that no other car should even attempt. True delight.I havent even mentioned the gas mileage, which is phenomenal. This is one sweet ride!

I LOVE my electric Smart! This is the first new car Ive ever owned, and I approached the purchase with some trepidation- who hasnt heard the horror stories? Im pleased to report that the whole experience was fantastic- Todd Whitelaw is incredibly knowledgeable, NO pressure whatsoever, and also very patient as I went back and forth trying to figure out if an electric car was going to work for me. I was treated very fairly in every regard. I cant recommend smart center Boston highly enough, and the same goes for driving an electric car!

Decided to buy one of these little cars as a good second car/commuter vehicle. The sales style here is geared to the soft sell as most people shopping here have already convinced themselves on the purchase.Sales process was easy. We decided on the full electric model. It has a range around 70ish miles. The colder the temperature the worse the mileage on electrics. Got one with almost all the bells and whistles except GPS for no money down and about $190 a month for a 36 month lease. Its been over a month and we are very happy with the purchase.They lose a star because while our sales person we dealt with was great, outstanding actually, it does seem that the location is minimally staffed. It seems you call the store directly but you have to call through the Mercedes dealership.

I have to say this this experience was nothing short of perfect. Back in the Fall I went looking into the smart Electric Drive vehicles. I had contacted a few dealerships, but Todd at Smart Center Boston got back to me immediately and kept in touch through the whole process. He took my reservation for the car, got the custom build scheduled, and sent periodic updates throughout the months. When there were delays I knew in advance; when it was in he was flexible with setting up a pickup time. Fair value on my trade, and I felt great leaving with my new smart ED. The car has been great, he even helped me with the registration process. Thanks smart center Boston, and thanks especially to Todd!Addendum: One problem after another with my Smart ED. The TPS system constantly failed, nobody could fix it. Otherwise it was great. Had to dock one star because I spent too many days driving back and forth to fix an issue without accommodation to pick up the car. Tesla and Ferrari both did this; a Mercedes dealership should also stand behind their product.

Sales manager Todd was wonderful to deal with in assisting me with leasing an electric drive Smart ForTwo. As someone that was driving the car he was selling he was able to answer any and all questions and concerns I had about going electric, and more than once went the extra mile (coming in on his day off to let us test drive one, delivering the car himself in the snow). Anyone interested in buying an electric car thats heard stories of dealerships not really understanding them, or being skeptical about them need not worry about Smart Center Boston. They will help you decide if electric is right for you, they made sure I had all the paperwork I needed to file for the state electric car rebate, and the car has been everything they promised.

Ever since I first laid eyes on a Smart car I knew I would own one at some point. With my recent job change and longer commute the need arose and my search for a commuter car began. I can get wordy so I will get straight to the point. BEST DECISION I EVER MADE HANDS DOWN. Well, maybe accept for my choice of spouse, but other then that nothing. Todd Whitelaw was terrific. I cannot say enough about him. I love my Smart, my kids tell their friends their father drives a Cozy Coupe. Go out and get one!

Jeff Davis is amazing and completely turned my experience around with Smart Center Boston, my original one star has been completely transformed to a five star. Firstly, the responsiveness of Jeff and his professionalism was so relieving after an initial tense introduction to the Smart Center. Not only did he ensure my vehicle got done two days before it was originally intended, he delivered my car from Somerville, MA to Falmouth, MA. Words cannot explain how much stress that has relieved to provide such a quick service. I wish I had dealt with Jeff from the beginning. Jeremy Allyn is also an amazing employee. Jeff explained to me that there must have been a misunderstanding with the odometer fraud thing and that a new employee had made the mistake twice. Im going to leave my original review up, but as a human being I do understand accidents happen. However, now I understand why this place has decent reviews.I recommend this place, accidents and misunderstandings happen, and my end result with this dealership is an amazing one.Thank you Jeff and Thank you Jeremy.PATRICK TITSHAW Tried to commit odometer fraud with my 2015 Smart For Two Passion Coupe to evade honoring the 4 year or 50,000 warranty for the fuel pump that went out on my vehicle. I am active duty military and this is my first time using this service center since I am new to the area. After getting my car towed all the way up to The Smart Center in Somerville, MA from Cape Cod, MA (After Hours) it took 8 hours the next day to get confirmation my vehicle had safely arrived at the dealership (stressful) then it took all day to get Patrick TITSHAW on the phone to explain to him what was going on with the vehicle before they worked on it. When Patrick called me back at 7:20pm he called with a bitter attitude and started arguing with me right off the bat that the car was not withint warranty and over 50,000 miles, even though I drive the car everyday and knew it was just a little over 47,000. This unnecessary aggression persisted throughout our conversation bringing me to tears and stressing me out more than I already was after saying he wasn’t going to honor the warranty. I had to have my mechanic (who had the vehicle the day before) call him to tell him they documented the mileage. Patrick TITSHAW immediately called back shuddering and blaming his staff that they wrote down the wrong mileage.To summarize:It took 8 hours for someone to confirm my vehicle arrived safely at the service center after calling to confirm at 9am, 2pm and 4pm.When Patrick finally called me back at 7:20 pm he called with an aggressive attitude and argued with me that my odometer was something that it wasn’t, his exact words were your odometer was at 50,100 which means had my mechanic not called talking about legal documentation that my car was at a little over 47,000 miles I have no doubt Titshaw would have rolled my odometer forward.Lastly it’s been over a week that I have been without my vehicle, to change out a fuel pump on a Smart Car.Will be reporting to the better business bureau.

I lease a little 2016 blue Smart with a white stripe named Dexter! Ha! I love the little car so much that I had to give him props in my comments! Ha! This is my second Smart car which I have leased from Smart Center in Somerville and I am very pleased to say that Todd Whitelaw is my “car guy”! When I got my first Smart in 2013 I really just went in to take a look at these fabulous little cars I had fallen in love with after seeing them online. No one was more surprised that day when I, actually, left with one of my own! I could not be more pleased with the Smart Car! Todd told me I would get looks, comments and that people would stop me all of the time. He was dead on right about that. One guy a couple of weeks back walked over to me at a red light and wouldn’t let me go when it turned green! People had to go around us! I’m not kidding. Todd is completely knowledgeable concerning the little Smarts and he is a pleasure to interact with during such a huge purchase. He’s very personable and gives you his complete attention during the buying process. Everything goes so smoothly with Todd at the helm of the transaction that you go in - and the next thing you know - you have a new car! He walks you – simply – through every step of the way. I never knew buying, or leasing, a car could be so easy! And, the dealership is top notch! They treat you like royalty whenever you are there for any reason. It’s almost surreal, out of time almost! It’s a nice experience. I recommend everyone own a Smart Car and make sure you purchase from Todd Whitelaw! I hope he’s still there when the time comes to lease my next Smart Car! I concur with all comments about service and knowledge of Todd Whitelaw; he is an asset to the company. The service he provided us from beginning to end was superb; he even drove the car down from Boston to Warren, Rhode Island waited at the DMV for 3 hours to help with registration. Thats customer service! Were SMART car aficionadas anyway, so it was an easy sell, but Todd walked us through the process seamlessly; within an hour, the deal was done. SMART CENTER BOSTON undoubtedly has our vote for hiring and having such a professional among its staff.To be honest, Im not at all surprised in the least, Herb Chambers is the best: weve leased Hondas with them for the past 9 years in Seekonk, MA; he and his teams truly respect and value his customers.

Todd Whitelaw is not a salesman, hes just a normal, great guy who happens to sell Smart Cars. Theres no sales pressure, or B.S., hes an honest guy. He personally delivered my new Smart Car to my doorstep, and I live in Leominster. He always takes care of everything I need, and even things I didnt know I needed. This is my 3rd smartcar and in still in love with the brand. Even after all this time I still get funny looks from ppl in the street....your car is so weird! I think its hilarious.

Leased a Smart LOVING IT. Traveling on MBTA does not compare. Parking in Southie is normally a bloodsport but driving a smart makes it fun! Now I just ease my smart into spaces that every other driver passes by. My smart is well equipped and I appreciate the heated seats, power windows, the great windshield wipers and sound system - complete with an AUX input and USB port. Seems to go forever on a full tank and insurance rates are favorable. The worst part of ownership so far has been reading a note left under my windshield wiper that ridiculed me for being a planet-saver because I chose to drive a smart! The salesperson was a pleasure to work with and helped me negotiate a great lease agreement. Highly recommended.
