We took a trip up from Rochester to valleyfair and moa and spent the night near by and found this wonderful place on a bakery hunt. The gentleman that helped us was so friendly and knowledgeable. The donuts, coffee and apple turnover we got were outstanding and I will definitely come back ever time Im in the area. We love supporting local and were not disappointed

We came a little late in the day for donuts, 1230 but we were still able to score a favorite for each of us. I love blueberry and was really surprised to see they had them and they are delicious. The kids devoured them so fast I wondered if they had just inhaled them like air. The owners are incredibly nice and I cant wait to try the ice cream

I havent been to Donut Connection in years, because the place looked outdated despite the great donuts they served. But after going to the place last week, I was impressed by how they invested into improving the place, and the customer service was outstanding. Now, they serve ice cream, something that never occurred years ago. I wish I could give them 10 stars, because thats how outstanding theyve been since I came back.Keep up the great work!!!🍩

Great selection of donuts. They have old fashioned donuts that are actually what theyre supposed to look and taste like, unlike Duncan Donuts. Im not a huge fan of the coffee, its a bit weak. But donut are great! Cant wait to go back and try their ice cream.

An okay selection and decent service but the donuts could have been much fresher.

The man was nice and his service was fast. However, the Bavarian cream and French vanilla Krueler were tasteless. Dunkin is way better. Blueberry donut was good, though overloaded with glaze.

Such a disappointment! You know theyre bad when you have one and throw the rest away! They used to be my favorite place to get donuts. My wife and I drove 45 minutes each way from Lakeville. The new owners completely ruined this place. The donuts are oily, over cooked, almost no filling. They used to be perfectly delicious, soft, pillowy and no oil taste. Ive given them a couple chances and time but will not be back again. Most of the reviews were from when the previous owners ran it so I wouldnt trust the reviews. You will be disappointed!

I really want this place to succeed but their inconsistency keeps me from wanting to return. 3 of the 4 last visits our donuts were dry and the recipe of their honey bun seems to change. Sometimes with frosting, other times nothing.

If you on a mission to find an old fashioned fried donut - look no further; you found your spot. Joint open at 5am, great selection. You will be a star of the office if you bring those babies in the morning. Melt in your mouth goodness! Coffee is fresh and the service is awesome! Been shopping there for more than 15 years - now it is even better. Well worth the drive.

I have not been here for a couple of years and as I understand, it has new owners. I did like the donuts here in the past and decided to treat the family to some donuts this morning. I got a dozen donuts around 6am. When I got them home, I noticed ALL of the donuts were cold...not cold like from the weather (and it wasnt that cold out so it couldnt have been from that) but cold like they had been refrigerated. I also could tell they were refrigerated since many of the donuts had that moisture/humid look to them like they were in the fridge. Note, I did not expect them to be warm, but I DID EXPECT them to be baked that morning=fresh. I assume they do have fresh donuts later in the morning, but apparently if you are early in to get them, you get yesterdays that did not sell and they pass them off as freshly made that day. Looking at the donuts and tasting them, they for sure were not made today, definitely day old for sure. None had the fresh taste, all tasted stale. Also, the peanut donuts had little to no peanuts on them. Same for the coconut donuts, little to no coconut. The powdered sugar filled creme donuts had little creme in them too. Maybe this place used to be good years ago, but with the old donuts and skimping on the ingredients I would go elsewhere for your donut craving. I will not be back!

I ordered 5 dozen donuts for a grad party. When I picked the donuts up they were able to add another dozen just in case. They called 2 days before to confirm my order and had it ready when I needed to pick it up. The donuts were a HIT at the party and I would absolutely use them again! A++

The new owners are amazing! The donuts are delicious every time and the customer service is the best! I smile just thinking of this place. It’s rare to find that “small town” feel these days. I love walking in and seeing people chatting, sipping on coffee and eating delicious donuts, it reminds me of so many happy childhood memories. My daughter biked there today and said “Mom, she was SO nice! I liked the donuts so much that I went back and bought the rest!” 100% recommend this place for taste, price, atmosphere and customer service!

This is a rare breed. Your classic old school donut shop. This is the place the neighborhood comes to hang out and get a cup of coffee before heading off to work! Dont come looking for the fancy out of the box stuff. It is your classic classic old fashioned donuts. A few counter specials like a nice apple fritter yeast style and some long johns. A great place to feel Americana.

The apple fritter was huge and delicious! Such a sweet lady working behind the counter and she was willing to make a certain doughnut for my boyfriend upon request because they didnt have any left. I would definitely go back if we are ever in the area again!

True to their time posted on google they are indeed open at 5am. (Which works well for me being an overnight worker)And the donut quality here is no joke. We grabbed a dozen donuts sampling the variety that they have on display. Every single donut was above and beyond our expectations from the honey glazed to the bavarian cream, all of it was exceptional. We are now hooked and will return regularly. BEST BAVARIAN CREAM EVER!

Three years ago I made a stop into the Donut Connection To get directions. I was looking at property on this side of town and was new to the area. I asked the owners what they thought of Shakopee and they gave me great reviews. I decided to purchase a doughnut. It was by far the best donut I have ever had. Now that I live in Shakopee this is one of my favorite small businesses to visit. The owners and workers are extremely friendly and always in a good mood. I always leave donut connection feeling better than I did when I walked in. Great job guys.

I personally worked at Donut Connection in the summer of 2012 and I highly discourage anyone from eating and/or working here. The back room where all the donuts are made is very unclean and Im not sure when the last time a health inspector took a good look at the place. There are fruit flies all over back there, and some of the equipment doesnt get cleaned as often as it should. A lot of the restaurant is in great need of repair. The owner never has any of his employees fill out new hire paperwork, not even an I-9 or W-4, yet taxes were still taken out of my checks. He bad talks his employees and his customers half the time hes in back making donuts. I was offered a new position after working there for roughly a month that required me to come in at 2am, sometimes 1am, and work until 9am or 10am. I would get ONE break at around 4:00am for a max of 10 minutes IF and ONLY IF I had iced and glazed enough donuts. I was not allowed any more breaks. I kept the position for roughly two weeks until I just couldnt take it anymore and I quit. He also never paid me for the overtime I put in on a daily basis, which is illegal. The donuts are of good quality and taste good, but if you have respect for yourselves and your families, I wouldnt suggest eating and/or working here.

I have lived in shakopee for almost two years and some how had never been to Donut Connection before. Today I finally came and holy cow was I missing out! The donuts are absolutely outstanding. They’re super moist and flavorful! They have a bunch of different kinds too! Their selection gives me an excuse to have to keep coming back to try more! It’s a small family owned establishment, and all the staff is so friendly!! They’re super sweet and make you feel like you’re right at home! Even if you’re not in the area I would recommend checking it out!!

Ive enjoyed their donuts for years overlooking that the building probably hasnt had $1.00 put into it since 1975. The price board still says Mr. Donut from the last business. As of late they dont open on Fridays and they close at noon other days. Today once again they literally had no donuts left by 11am. I noticed many customers and all were going to get shutout. This place has a management problem because you shouldnt run out of product consistently with an hour or more still to go in the day. I guess its time to find other options.

Stumbled upon this place last year when we moved to shakopee. If you’re looking for a delicious classic no frills donut for a reasonable price, this is for you. My one complaint is their hours have been weird and sometimes they’ve been closed when I want to go, but I believe they recently switched owners and business seems to be picking up. Definitely give this place a try whether you’re just driving through or live in the area, you won’t be disappointed.

Lovely small spot. Donuts and coffee and cheap but actually good! The raised sugar donut I broke apart felt as if I was cutting a cloud in half. Also had a German chocolate, wow, honestly expected it to be dense, but since I just had eaten a cloud I should have known better. Tasted more like a cake quality than a donut. Also the woman working there, incredibly friendly.

Ive been going there for over 20 years and loved it; but since the new ownership took over the donuts have suffered....they dont taste the same AT ALL; it may have to do with the oil (something different?) or the length of time in the fryer (?)....something is not done the same. Ive been there 3 times since the change and noticed the difference each time. Sorry to say I wont be going back.

They used to have the best Donuts. Ive been going there for over 20 years. The angel Donuts have gotten worse though in the pastyear or so year. They use bread type dough, form it a circle, bake or fry it. Then cut it half like a bagel. Theres a shmear of whipped cream in the middle like a sandwich. This is NOT an angel donut. The donuts are too dense and heavy. Not light and airy. The glazed donuts are hard and tough. Barely any glaze. Very disappointing.

I live in Lakeville and would drive in the mornings when I could just to get there delicious donuts. However, ever since new management has bought that place everything has went down hill, several different times driving back thinking it was me that was going crazy that the donuts havent changed but nope... Theyve got gross! The donuts no longer tastes fresh, the long john that I dearly love didnt have any cream filling and had a werid flavor to it oily/stale. The donuts have gotten smaller with poor quality. I wont be going back and going to a better place near my house.
