Over the years, we have rented two different instruments (a violin and a cello) from Bischofberger. In both cases, the tone of these student quality instruments was well above that of a typical student instrument. As our child grew, we were able to come in at any time to swap for a larger size instrument or for minor repairs - at no cost. In addition, Bischofberger has a policy of applying a percentage of the rental fees paid towards a future instrument purchase - even if it is years after the rental. The shop itself is beautiful, making it a real pleasure to browse.I am grateful that a friend recommended Bischofberger to us when our child first wanted to play violin. I, too, recommend them without hesitation.
Bishop Burger violins is a superb stringed instrument store! They focus on violins, violas, cellos, and basses. They sell, rent, and repair these instruments, along with their associated bows! The shop is exceptional, and a joy to visit.
Beautiful shop with lots of violins, cellos and even a mandolin (I just saw one). I was helped by a lady who was very accommodating and helping me test try a bunch of violins when I wanted to rent one for my lessons. They have a wonderful deal of renting violin for $100 for 3 months and if you decide to buy it afterwards, that will be counted towards the purchase!
My instructor suggested this place and I rented a violin for 3 months from here. The staff was very patient and helpful in guiding me with all the rental process. I am newbie violin learner and did not know what all supporting accessories I would require. They were kind enough to explain all information and even offered a free shoulder rest from the donation pile since I wasnt sure if I want to invest in the accessories for now (Since you cannot rent accessories. Instead you have to buy them). Definitely recommend this place!
They know violins! Pretty much any question you could have about violins or repairing violins they can answer.
This shop has the best customer service imaginable! My daughter forgot her violin at school before a weekend fundraising concert. Bischofberger Violins lent us a violin for the weekend and saved the day! So impressed with their service, the violin, and the selection at the store. Will definitely be back for all of my future violin needs.
I love this shop! I have been a few times while visiting from Hawaii. They are super friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and overall the best luthier around. They have many fine instruments in house and run a busy workshop. I had new strings, tailpiece, and bow hair installed, but the best part of my experience was the detail and care they went into resetting my sound post and bridge, as well as their recommendation to file down the nut. I hadn’t considered doing this before but it really made a difference in the playability of my instrument.
A lovely gentleman put new strings on my rented cello for me today. He didn’t have to but did and was gracious. Thank you so much, I’m learning cello as part of my mental health care during isolation.
Bischofberger has lots of violins, cellos, etc. in all price ranges. We rented our violin from them for two years, and then bought our first violin, and they applied all our rent payments toward the purchase price. For our second violin purchase, we were able to try out two violins at home before making a decision. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, they made the changes we requested (string, tailpiece, fine tuners) in minutes while we waited. A great place to buy a string instrument!
Theres a lot of range in the professionalism, quality and service of violin shops, and this one seems great. We went in to rent a violin for my eight-year-old daughter. They were friendly and helpful, and they let her try a number of different violins to find the sound she liked best.
I have done business with them since high school. Always quality work.
I dropped by today for help adding frets to my violin (Blasphemy, I know.) to compensate for my poor ear. Jessica was very kind and offered other options and provided plenty of ear-training suggestions based on her experience playing. She also adjusted the bridge, replaced the E-string, and made a few other minor changes. In total she spent 15 - 20 minutes helping me out. When asked how much I owed her, she asked for half of what I tried to pay and would not take more. It was a very positive experience. Thank you Jessica.
This is a place where the people are passionate about their craft and making it accessible to everyone that walks in their doors. Truly one of a kind with incredible work along with super helpful and generous staff. The store is well maintained and is an experience worth having all on its own.
Im very picky about who I let rehair my bow, but when I moved to Seattle, some other violinists said I could trust Bischofberger, so I took them my bow. They did a good job with it; you can trust them too. They also stock high end strings, and rosin, and have quality cases available to look at or order.
Ever wanted to learn how to play a violin, viola or cello? This is the place to begin! The prices are about average to market, but the quality of the instruments is extraordinary. The owner is an expert violin builder with many years of experience. They were easy to work with and I loved the experience and interaction with the staff here. It was like walking into a place you see only in movies. They are all quite friendly and are passionate about their work. Walk-ins are OK and they have resources to help you find a tutor/teacher if you need one.All-in-all, an awesome place to visit if you are looking for a quality stringed instrument (sans guitars, no guitars in here!). Thank you Bischofberger!
Very good customer service.
Management must have changed. They taught me something very important. Take off valuable accessories from my violin, or guitar before I take it in for repairs. I went in with an ebony chin holder, and got home and opened my case to find it replaced with a plastic one. Now I put a dot of fingernail polish on all my instruments, photograph them, and strip them of accessories. Lesson learned.
Both Jackie and Jessica helped me a ton. I was very happy with the service and love the new cello.
Best violin shop in town in terms of quality and customer service.
I brought a second hand violin here to be set up. Im a musician, guitar, and know the importance of having everything set right when youre learning and wanted this for my daughter. The set up which included strings and a lesson on rosin was half what I expected it to be.
Great place to rent string instruments, accessories, qualified repairs, excellent help.
Great service, high level of expertise. Definitely would recommend to all ranges of string players.
I love the way that they care for this place. They are teaching my baby how to love her violin.
Very helpful staff; great to work with.
Got a no hassle appraisal of my cello, I chose not to consign it due to the consignment fee. They seem knowledgeable and they have a wide selection of instruments.
We accidentally arrived after closing time, but the owner was incredibly kind and served us with a rare graciousness.
Very helpful staff. Fascinating place to browse.
