Covid had wiped out both of the stores where my guitar repair guys worked. I got Todds name from a friend of a friend. I can honestly say he seems to really love working on guitars and really knows his stuff. Both my guitars I brought to him play better than ever. He really wants the player to be happy and he has the knowledge and skill to make that happen. Glad I found him.

Todd repaired, fret leveled, and installed a bone nut on my 20 year old RR5. His work is immaculate; the new nut is well-integrated and aesthetically seamless and the leveling eliminated issues with buzz.Hes a very busy dude, but for good reason! I brought in a 1968 Vox Apollo that was in dire need of some TLC. After a re-fret, reset of the bridge and some electrical work, I have been blown away by the results. Really high quality work and this 53 year old guitar plays better than ever. I wont hesitate to use Todd again in the future for my guitar needs.

Bought a used guitar that was a little beat up as a restoration project. Found Todd and reached out. He had me on the wait list and let me know an estimated timeframe (which was pretty spot on expectation). I brought my guitar to him on a Saturday to replace all the hardware (pots, pickups, tuners, bridge, output jack, nut, reinstalled pick guard). He gave me a price estimate which he met as well.He had it ready by Wednesday (four days later) and it came back perfect. He let me test the action and stuff before I left, and let me know that if I needed anything changed to just reach out. Would recommend and will likely use again in the future!

I brought Todd a Cordoba C7 to help me improve its tone and playability. I used a popular Andante and the Irish Washerwoman songs as my gauge to see how the guitar would feel before and after. Im very happy to say after a string change, fret level, and action lowering I found a significant improvement in playability of my guitar. The tone sounds the same as any string change which he did a great job with the nylon strings. Todd takes his time to explain things. Ill definitely be going back for any of my luthier needs!

I highly recommend working with Todd. I found his approach to be super customer-centric - he asked a ton of questions upfront to understand my needs (and as a new guitarist he explained options in detail to me where I was unclear so I could make an informed decision). Similarly, once the work was done he explained in detail what he did, asked for my input on the work performed, and seemed genuinely ready to adjust anything that didnt meet my standards. Everything met my standards :). Communication and expectation setting were excellent too - e.g. his estimates for when the work would begin and how long it would take were super accurate. Overall great experience.

Todd set up a Telecaster and a Les Paul for me. Both came back beautiful. The playability across the neck of each instrument, both of which had issues, is now flawless. Todd was recommended to me by a luthier whose guitars I can’t afford. I found him straight forward, and he delivered exactly what we discussed. Before you buy a new guitar, have Todd dial in the one you already own.

I have been looking for while for a person that could competently work on my 1991 Gibson Chet Atkins SST. I made the big mistake of taking it to a big box musical instrument store for repair and that was a waste of money. When I came across the wonderful reviews for Todd Guitars and Repair, I immediately got my guitar to him.Todd is a total professional, clearly has great expertise, knowledge, and experience. I happen to be a psychologist and can size people up pretty quickly (I guess if I couldnt do that, I should find another line of business), and Todd has a wonderful way of interacting. Given that Im not a professional musician I have interacted with repair people who are condescending once they smell my amateur-ness. Hey, they were condescending but at least I paid a lot for a poor repair! My experience with Todd was so different. Todd quickly evaluated the problem, explained clearly what his recommended course of action should be in terms that I would understand, all while being careful of costs. Man, what more can you ask!The repair cost less than expected and we agreed that if something wasnt quite right (this Gibsons saddle is also the pickup - which is unusual), he recommended a follow-up game plan that made sense to me.I will refer other of my friends and contacts to Todd without reservation! I wish him the best of successes in his business!!

Im pretty sure Todd could take a tree branch and a set of rusty wire and make it play like a dream and sound like the heavens. He did an absolutely outstanding job on my PRS and my Martin. It is clear that he cares about the music and ensuring that players are getting the most out of their guitars. The pride he takes in his craft comes through. He clearly lays out his recommendations and lets you know what is his expert opinion vs. what absolutely needs to be done and lets you decide. Todd did a complete re-fret and built a new bone nut for my ‘74 Telecaster Custom—beautiful fret work and the guitar plays like a dream! Todd is great to work with—explains what is needed and why, and he gives you his honest assessment of your instrument. Todds work is top-tier and entirely speaks for itself. Todd takes time to better understand your playing style and needs, where your instrument may be coming up short and sets realistic expectations around timing, outcome and budgeting. Throughout the course of a thorough setup and nut replacement on a 1967 Telecaster and a refret on a vintage Kay Thinline, Todd provided multiple updates and consultative texts/calls throughout the project, which gave me peace of mind and confidence that my instruments were in the capable hands. It only takes one mediocre setup to appreciate the quality of Todds work.

Bought my first two guitars ever ... wasnt sure what was going on and I had a lot of questions ... Todd was very patient with me, encouraging and professional as well. There were 0 issues with drop off or pickup. I wasnt quite sure what my guitars should sound like until Todd got his hands on them ... honestly ... they sound magical. He did a bone nut/saddle, fret level and setup for me lowering the action on my classical guitar nicely and straight out of the shop both the classical and my Martin are singing beautifully. I really didnt expect them to sound this brilliant. I called around a bit since this was my first time ever having a guitar serviced and Todd offers a competitive price, clear and consistent communication and I was only without my guitars for a few days also, it moved very quickly for me. I was in search of a luthier to do some work on my uniquely designed Kubicki Ex Factor bass and didnt want just anyone to work on it. I decided to go with Todd based on his stellar reputation in the local community and was not disappointed. My bass had a seriously bowed neck and I didnt want to take any chances messing with it on my own. I was also worried that it might have an underlying structural issue. After looking it over, Todd immediately put me at ease and let me know that it was correctable and also suggested a nut replacement and fret level, which I took him up on. The end result is a beautifully playing instrument that is set up perfectly. As others have said, Todd is a consummate professional - not only technically, but also in the way he conducts business. His prices are very fair and communication and turn-around time are also excellent. His reputation is well deserved and I highly recommend him.

Todd did a wonderful job on my bass guitar. For many years, I had people telling me I needed to get the pick ups in the bass replaced. We looked over the bass and he gave me options what to do. As it turns out, I did not need the pick ups to be replaced. It needed some minor adjustments. When I got my bass back, it sounded great and the action felt very comfortable. Todd came highly recommended from a professional bassist who I trust immensely. I went in for a set up of my 91 Fender Jazz 5 string and took Todds recommendation to balance my neck, grind my frets and work on my volume and tone pots on top of the seasonal set up. It was more than I wanted to spend, but the price was very reasonable given all that work and I knew it needed to get done. Based on the trust that my friend put into him, I didnt hesitate. Todd is super cool and laid back, easy to converse with and willing to educate you on all things guitar without an ounce of judgement. He walked me through everything that he would do and gave me a 5 day turn around.I got my axe back today. No exaggeration, its like a totally new bass! Recently had an 83 strat refreted, setup, and had a bone nut installed by Todd. He did great work and his prices are very fair for the quality of work he puts out. In addition to the work itself, he tries to get a good idea about what, and how you play, so the guitar is setup for your specific needs. I will definitely have Todd do work for me in the future and highly recommend him to others.

Was recommended to get my guitar setup by friend who is an existing customer of Todd. I had guitar that played nice all around but Todd was able to get it dialed in to 11. I will be a life long customer of Todd and Im going to recommend him to all my friends.

I had a 4 in crack in the side of a very nice classical guitar, and took it to Todd for the repair. Unfortunately, I had procrastinated getting the repair done, and the wood on either side of the crack had moved a little, which complicated things. Todd explained very clearly what he would do and the effect it would have on the guitars tone. The work was done in less than a week, and Im very happy with the result. The repaired crack is practically invisible from the exterior, and the guitar sounds great. Todd neatly glued two small cleats (thin squares of wood) to the inside of the guitar to reinforce the ends of the crack. These are also nearly invisible, as Todd took the time to match the wood and grain. To top it all off, he only charged me about what I would expect to pay for one hour of a luthiers time, even though Im sure he spent much more than that on it.

I am very happy with the work Todd has done on two of my Eastman acoustics. I will be steering as much work his way as I can.

I had grooves in some frets on my electric. Figured I needed new frets. Todd eyeballed it for a second and said no. Then confirmed with the tool. I was intending to pay for a refret and he recrowned the frets for $200 less. Plays like a dream.

A very close friend was getting married and I was going to play something during the reception. I hadnt plugged my guitar in for a good year. So, about a week before the wedding, I thought maybe I should plug her in to make sure everythings working ok. Unfortunately there seemed to be a loose connection of some kind and sound was cutting out when moving around. I did a Google search and found Todd.He said to bring it on over and hed take a look. He got my guitar back to me in more than enough time and had her sounding better than ever. He charged a very reasonable rate and was really cool about explaining issues and what he was able to do to make her sound fantastic. I wont be taking my guitars anywhere else from now on.

Outstanding work. I purchased an old worn 1971 Takamine Dreadnaught that was in poor repair. The strings couldnt be tuned because the pressure would collapse the guitar. He brought life to the guitar through careful repair to the point that now it plays like it hasnt in years.

Take your guitar to Todd Baker, he is terrific, super cool and committed to his customers being 100% satisfied with his work, and he delivers. He came highly recommended by two different players I know. I had him setup a new-to-me Collings and a strat.I’ve only played for a couple years. I don’t have an in depth knowledge of the electric guitar yet. Sitting down with Todd the first time, I got a mini master class in guitar, as we talked about what I was looking for and where I wanted to go with my playing, the conditions of the guitars, and the different options to consider for the setup. He really broke things down in a respectful and informative way. No attitude from a guy who has worked on some famous axes. The strat had been poorly setup by another shop in the neighborhood, intonation problems and the bridge was whack. It was my first guitar and I hated playing it. Todd replaced the nut, leveled the frets, rounded the fret ends a bit, and balanced the pickups. What can I say, I love playing this thing again! The Collings was in pretty good condition and just needed a setup. But again, Todd and I talked about where I wanted to go with my playing, and we decided to go up a gauge in strings. Wow! Tone for days out of an already insane tone machine.I’m telling every player (from kids to adults) to take their guitars to Todd. You’ll leave with a killer playing guitar and way more knowledge about the guitar than you would get from the other shops around town.

I brought a new American Tele in to Todd for a setup, because like most big company name guitars, it needed a setup to be playable for me. High action, dented frets, miscut nut slots, the usual drill. Todd identified the problems with the setup as it was and suggested solutions to them. He milled the frets to closer specifications, recut the nut slots for my .11 gauge strings, glued the frets in, as for some reason they were not that way from Fender. When I got the guitar back from Todd, it barely resembled the setup I had brought it in with. It felt buttery smooth to play, no fret ends sticking out, action was perfect, and the guitar is in tune, no easy feat with the 3 saddle bridge arrangement. All of this for the price of a setup from most anyone else Ive tried in Seattle, including that guy in Bellevue with the name recognition but who rarely seems to actually work on my guitars anymore since hes just too busy. Todd turned around my axe in two days, which exceeded my expectations. I would trust Todd to work on any of my guitars. Give Todd a shot, you wont be disappointed.
