Absolutely 100% enjoyable experience purchasing from Definitive. And more specifically Carrie, who stuck with me for weeks as I bounced around from speakers to preamps to streamers. Turns out everything I thought I wanted initially, wasnt actually the best solution and she really helped me find the right component to do what I wanted. And better, this piece is so nice I cant believe it. Who knew changing from an AV receiver using pre-outs to a Streamer/DAC would have such a major impact on the sound, but it did and it is a significant difference. Like going from DVD to 4K UHD. Thats the only thing I can compare it to in terms of me being wow when I first set it up.So much for internet research, highly recommend you have Carrie help you when youre looking for hifi components!
After researching speakers online, I visited to see/hear them in person, and talk to someone with firsthand experience. Carrie is incredibly helpful and happy to educate (thank you!). Didnt feel any pressure to spend more than I was expecting, and she went above and beyond to work with my existing gear. Very happy to have ended up shopping local rather than online. Cheers

Rang up to see if they’d take a look at a speaker my wife purchased there many years ago. The first person I spoke with was inviting and offered to hook the speaker up to a system to see if we could pinpoint that it was a speaker problem. Unfortunately, the manager cut her off had me transferred to him and told me speakers either work or they don’t. If I wanted to have them look it it would be $200. Really unpleasant experience.Follow up: after the above experience I took the speaker to Tune in Belltown. They were happy to take a look. The whole process took 25 minutes. Got my speaker back and working, best of all, at no charge.
Place is a comedy club not an audiophile store. Went here a while back and this little arrogant salesman was intentionally coughing when I tried to hear their gear. I walked over and looked him in the eye and he stops but wouldnt look me in the eye, he just walks away so I return to the sweet spot in the demo room and then he coughs loudly again with a very clear throat over and over. Walk over to him coughing stops, dude has selective coughing malignant narcissism.
Great customer service! The staff was more than happy to let me wander around unmolested until I was ready to listen to some speakers. When I was ready to listen to some speakers, staff went out of their way to show off their different options, and at no time did they pressure for a sale. They even offered to discuss price match if I found a better deal somewhere else! Great experience !
Paul McDaniel helped me construct a Linn stereo/4K tv system. His knowledge was amazing and he was a pleasure to work with. Picking components was easy with his support, and Definitive Audio delivered my equipment without a hitch, but final set up was where things really began to shine. While Linn has a greatly simplified design it is also powerful and includes broad compatibility with many third party applications. Paul drove me through the installation, setup and options as fast as I could handle. Since I am technically inclined that meant Paul had more work to do in answering my questions and getting me to a comfort level that was right for me. I was totally satisfied. I am very pleased with my purchase.
Im looking for some headphones and stopped in to have a listen and see the selection. I wish Id gotten the two guys names that helped me out but they were both awesome! As well as being informative, you could tell that theyre passionate about their work. I didnt feel pressured to get anything and can just mull over what I heard.

Went in to audition a pair of headphones. Staff was extremely accommodating, letting me drop by after closing and listen to my content. They were very helpful and friendly. They took a lot of time to make sure I was happy and I ended up walking out with a better deal than I could find anywhere else!
I cant even remember how many decades it has been since I have experienced such amazing customer service in any kind of store! Carrie and Tom are extremely knowledgeable about all things audio. Why on earth I ever bought at the big box stores for my music and video/ TV equipment is beyond me, but now that I have experienced the Definitive audio team and products, there is no going back ! I have been shopping at Definitive on-and-off for 25 years for various audio-related things, and have always been happy with them. In fact, my original salesperson from back in 1990, Tom, is still working in the store! I am a rare upgrader, but it came time for an all-new system, which for me this time meant going all digital. This time around I worked with Paul, and he has been fantastic. Although he believes strongly in some of the stuff that I question (digital cables and power cords and the like), we could happily come to agreement, and he was always happy and ready to back up his beliefs and statements with real-world demonstrations for me to hear. I spent many hours with Paul on many different days, and he was always the most pleasant and helpful person, whether I showed up unannounced or at a prearranged time. Ultimately, after shopping around and listening out of town, I again purchased at Definitive, as they know what they are doing, we put together what I wanted in my budget, and they can simply deliver. And, the support through all of this has been awesome! Thank you for 25+ happy years of music, with many more to come!
After researching online (but unable to purchase the brand I wanted online) I looked up distributors in the area. The in store experience is definitely worth it when looking to purchase higher end audio equipment. You can get 20 questions answered in 1/4 the time it would take to find answers online and you get the benefit of the hands-on look and feel factor. They also have the benefit of quicker access to manufacturer contacts to get quick answers as well. The show room is nicely arranged and the service was very attentive and helpful. The purchasing experience was smooth, including communications during shipment lead time from warehouse, and post sales interactions have been positive so far. Pricing is based on MSRP so no worries about excessive retail markup. Definitely recommend Definitive Seattle Showroom for your AV purchasing needs.

Just had a great experience at Definitive with their whole team. Jesse took the time to find out what Im looking for and recommend a great set-up. I ended up buying some headphones this time, but I will be back for the killer stereo I was quoted. Dont mistake a knowledgable person with a condescending one. These guys eat drink and breath sound so dont expect them to steer you towards stuff you could get at Best Buy. Go here if you want it to sound GREAT!!I remember shopping at HiFi shops with my dad when I was a kid so this experience was nostalgic.
After purchasing a high-end set of headphones I expected the sales associate to simply go in the back, retrieve my purchased item from the stockroom, and hand it over, so I could leave a satisfied and happy customer... NOPE! Strangely, I was told they don’t actually carry the headphones in stock… wait, what? (I think that would have been relevant information to impart up front, before I got all excited and paid for them!) Then I was told it would take TWO WEEKS to receive “my order,” which wouldn’t be shipped to me, but rather to the store… um, really? Ok, I guess. I had already paid in full, and I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but so far I wasn’t feeling great about the whole situation (I should have trusted my instincts). However, I’m patient and figured good things come to those that wait, so… I waited.Surely they would call/email me at some point to check in, give an update, or even tell me the headphones had arrived early… NOPE! After waiting TWO WEEKS with NO COMMUNICATION I called them on the day my purchase was scheduled to arrive and was told, “sorry” it looks like it will take at least another week. I asked why and was told they didn’t know. Now my patience was at an end… I told them that was unacceptable, and indicated I would like to cancel the order. The person I was speaking with then accused me of “showrooming,” which is both INSULTING and profoundly incorrect, given that I had purchased the item, paid for it in full, and had already given them an excessive amount of time to deliver it (considering the reality of modern logistics)! I don’t know if their sales associate was just trying to be mean or intimidate me, but they were wrong; their comments were COMPLETELY UNJUSTIFIED and OFFENSIVE to someone who holds integrity as a core value! They then informed me that I couldn’t cancel an order over the phone; I would need to go back into the store if I wanted to do that. Well, since I had been hoping to go there to pick up my headphones anyway, that certainly wasn’t going to a problem. It’s hard to express how DISGUSTED I was with their customer service at this point.To make an even longer story short... I was at least able to cancel the order and receive a refund after going back in, but it was a REALLY BAD EXPERIENCE and I won’t be going back. However, I am thankful for the reminder... if you can’t rely on a business to complete a basic transaction correctly, then you certainly can’t rely on them to take care of significantly more valuable transactions in the future. From that perspective, I guess I dodged a bullet… it would have been much WORSE if they had failed to deliver on the audio purchases I have made since. Fortunately, I received those items from another business that I’m now working with on an ongoing basis... they actually provide exceptional customer service, carry high-end audio equipment in stock, and deliver the items I need when I need them. It’s really not that hard… so simply save yourself the headache, hassle, and time by choosing a company that doesn’t BREAK THEIR PROMISES!
Short and sweet version: Excellent service, high quality products, plenteous listening stations and rooms, beautiful interior space, and convenient location with parking.Long form version: I was in short need for a Chord Mojo DAC/amp to power the Audeze LCD-2 Classic coming in the mail, and as one of two locations in Seattle that carry Chord products their salesman, John, accommodated a listening from my preferred source on a Mojo + LCD-2 combo that he set up just for me. We walked through the features and operating instructions together and I had a great time listening to a few key tracks to confirm that I wanted to make the purchase. He even threw in a spare adapter the store had to make sure my incoming headphones would be ready to plug-and-play!I putzed around a few minutes afterwards taking a listen to some of their very best headphones like the LCD-4,and Focal Utopia hooked up to a top of the line Macintosh amp, chatted a moment with John, and went home a happy customer.Great experience with Definitive Audio and will absolutely be coming back soon for my next high end audio purchase.
