Staff was super friendly and helpful!!My husband and I went into the store 10 mins before they were closed; however the staff still worked to get our online order ready (despite the fact that we came one day early than the available date) and even explained to us how the shade of their paint came together. It was a great experience shopping at this store. Will come back it we need more paint.

Don’t go here. I accidentally grabbed a 220 extension cord instead of a 110 because they were near closing and I didn’t want to hold up the staff going home. Went to exchange the next day and they refused. Said I had to return packaging. Except you have to destroy packaging to open the cord and they know that! I spent $70 bucks there! RECOMMEND ALL UW PARENTS GET YOUR KIDS DORM SUPPLIES ELSEWHERE SO YOU HAVE OPTION TO RETURN WRONG SIZES!

Over time I would go out of my way to visit this local hardware store. Always a good experience with hired staff. Today I experienced the co owner. When asking for help he snapped at me, and when asking him if I somehow offended him, the response was to belittle me And in front of another customer. Eg im sorry you got up on the wrong side of the bed and are the way you are. Will never go back there. Lots of other choices. The response I received from the owner suggests nothing will be done RE this abusive “co-owner”. I drove 5 miles past other hardware stores because of the food service I received in the past. Only takes one bad experience with an owner

Went in without a mask and got assaulted with a baseball bat. Ended up buying the bat anyway. I think this place was formerly called Chucks Hardware?

Worts hardware store around Wallingford, employees are always rude. They don’t seem to care about costumers. Better go to the hardware in Stone Way, they would do whatever it takes to help you and the prices are just right!

Will me or my children be attacked with a bat if we come into the store for something random or do you guys only assault ppl for wearing masks?

These guys wouldnt accept a return on an unused air filter, and werent even polite about saying so. It was unopened and in fine condition, but the guy told me it was like trying to return a used item, and basically said I could shut up if I didnt like it. To his credit, he did point out a small sign that said no returns on air filters, along with obvious stuff like car batteries, jumper cables, and bolt cutters. When I pointed out that it was absurd to compare an unopened air filter to a used item, he said something along the lines of well we couldnt stay in business if we accepted returns of everything - which, I mean, yeah, returns are obviously an annoying part of operating a store. Sorry?I really prefer to support a small business over a big box store, but they dont make it easy.EDIT, BASED ON REPLY FROM BUSINESS OWNER:Yeah, you bought some filters. I didnt overbuy - I bought a single filter, which I turned out not to need. Part of operating a store is the cost of returns. That a YP not an MP

I love this little store. Im always surprised when they have the random thing Im looking for, in a somehow-logical spot on their teeming shelves. The staff are consistently friendly and helpful without being overbearing. Prices dont feel substantially higher than at Home Depot or the other big stores, and if the price is higher, its worth it for supporting a smaller business instead of a giant, soulless corporation.

An adorable local hardware store, it is almost a stereotype. Make sure to talk to the always friendly, slightly crotchety staff. They know what you want, where to find it, and probably have a suggestion and a better idea.

If it werent so conveniently located, Id never come by. As it is, Im here constantly to get odds and ends I forgot to buy earlier. Theres a decent selection of any of the things youll most commonly want, but if you have the time, its usually better to go somewhere else.

Friendly service and have always had the parts that I needed. They can be a little more expensive than a Home Depot. However, it is totally worth preserving the neighborhood store. They also do keys. Check before leaving, even though they are super nice about replacing if it doesnt work. :)

I dont know what people ate talking about in other reviews. The store is still there, and its entirely convenient for those of us in the neighborhood. Its small and stocked. So far, theyve always had anything i went in looking for, and the service has been excellent. Sometimes, you know you have to go to a mega store like Home Depot, but for most of your needs, Tweedy and Pop will do you great.

Although nostalgic for the old store (which was a block up the street) the new store has that old fashioned look and feel but is much better stocked and organized. Theres a good mix of experienced old timers and energetic (and knowledgeable) youngsters staffing the store. Manager Tony seems to have a lot of experience in all sorts of repair and maintenance and keeps the staff on point. Easy to see why this store has been around for so long.

If you happen to be worried about Covid 19 I certainly wouldnt go to this hardware store. The older man that works there usually has his face mask at chin level. If a mask doesnt cover your nose and mouth its not on. Today was my second and last time visiting this neighborhood store.

Today I discovered that a front wheel kept falling off my walker, which I need to get around. When I got to Tweedy & Popps Ace Hardware, I was helped by Cagney, who looked at my walker on each side, identified what was needed to fix the problem, went back to get the part and repaired my walker on the spot. Within days Im dealing with surgery of a close relative and a flight to the Midwest, so having my walker repaired so instantly was simply miraculous for me. Cagney made my day, and probably my month! I highly recommend Tweedy & Popps - - check them out!

Go to the phinney store if you want good customer service.I asked and paid for a sample of a specific paint color in gloss finish. When I got home, I realize it is eggshell finish. No bueno. I take it back to the store and ask for a refund. We dont refund paint samples, they said. My response if someone had mentioned you didnt have the finish I asked for, I wouldnt have purchased it in the first place. After far too much back and forth with a snippy experienced coworker...the new employee who had made the mistake in the first place stepped up and owned the problem. A few grumbles and sighs later, the experienced employee conceded that I was due a refund.I did not leave feeling like the customer comes first.

My wife and i came in looking for the tiniest spring we could find to fix something of hers. They didnt have anything nearly that small in stock the older gentleman told me when i showed him what i needed. He told us to wait a minute and returned with 2 perfectly fitting springs hed taken out of a lock and gave them to us. I handed him $5 and he refused to take it and jjst said dont worry about it... i looked him in the eye and thanked him sincerely. Above and beyond the average effort given in a situation like that.
