Addo is wonderful! My family has used them a couple of times for catering, in addition to many other visits… The food is delicious, the people are wonderful… Please patronize this first rate establishment!
Every experience I’ve had at Addo is unique, inventive, and delicious. Looking for Puerto Rican fusion and homemade spices for your pantry? Check. A quarantine version of Chopped and cooking classes? Check. Best flan you’ve had in your life? Check. Check. Check. Chef Eric is as engaging, as he is talented. If you’re a foodie, keep ordering because you’ll never have the same experience twice.Looking forward to lively dine-in celebrations when enough of us are vaccinated.
This private, vax required brunch for 6 was probably in the top 3 meals Ive ever eaten. Drawing from a deep well of Puerto Rican flavors, Eric fixed us a brunch unlike any other Ive ever had. This was my first indoor dining experience in a year and a half, and the attention to safety and vax status made me extremely comfortable inside. Just absolutely stunning. Go before its too late.
You have NEVER had an intimately outstanding experience like you do with Chef Eric Rivera and his team in your life. This experience was better than the Netflix specials you see. Go to their website, find a tasting that works for your schedule and be prepared to fall in love with food all over again. No BS. Thank you to everyone at addo that made this experience outstanding. PS - Music is 👌🏽🕺🏽🥰
A group of 6 of us had an absolutely phenomenal time at Addo. The food was amazing and Eric was incredibly kind and generous. 24 hours later I am still full and have a fridge full of leftovers. Cannot recommend Addo enough and can’t wait to come back!
What a great experience to have at addo right now to have private dining with a great group of friends and with an exciting and caring chef in Eric Rivera to entertain you with non stop food and great stories.
An amazing culinary experience. Chef Eric Rivera is excited about cooking and sharing his work.
This review is for service only since I never received food to review.Customer service: 1/5Food: N/A (never received)I ordered the Thanksgiving tasting plate in advance and received my confirmation with a confirmed pick up time for the Wednesday before. When I showed up at my allotted time there was a line of roughly 50 people all waiting to pick up their meals. I waited for an hour and the line barely moved. Finally, someone came outside to take down everyones information and stated that all meals would be delivered that night. I confirmed that delivery would not be an issue since I live an hour away and they confirmed it was fine. I received a call after 11 pm that night that delivery would take place on Thanksgiving between 10-3 pm. I understood and was fine with this new arrangement. I eagerly awaited all day on Thanksgiving for my meal and it never came. I called the number that contacted me the night before with no response. I e-mailed the restaurant with no response. I called the following day with no response. I canceled the charge on my credit card and hope to eventually hear from the restaurant. I understand that things can go wrong, but they clearly had my correct phone number and e-mail to contact me that I would not be receiving my order and they failed to do so.
A complete disaster for us and our friends for Thanksgiving. We ordered a Thanksgiving dinner for 15 and had some good suggestions from addo Seattle to get extra soup and some other items. Once dinner was paid for though - not another single communication from them despite my reaching out repeatedly just to get an update. We were left cold on Thanksgiving with guests who we were trying to quickly cancel before they arrived (sorry for insisting on the Covid test!) while nothing from addo until the day after - an apology for ruining our Thanksgiving and a refund. Seriously!?!
Thanksgiving here was a total debacle! People were given designated times to pick up, only to find a line that stretched around the block when they arrived. We ordered ours to be delivered. When it didnt show up, I walked to the restaurant only to stand in line for 3 hours. Not how I wanted to spend the holiday. So many people we frustrated and upset; Many just got refunds and left. Once we finally got to the front, The staff was nice and the food was okay, but I would not recommend this place to anyone. Terrible experience.
Their ability to take ingredients that you know and elevating them beyond recognition is uncanny. Love what they do with all things fish, all things Puerto Rican food, their new pantry is absolutely genius and all of it is good. Oh, and so is the service. They’re running a crazy nationwide operation with a team of rockstars. Love these people.
We placed a Thanksgiving order for pick-up a few weeks ago. We went to pick up our meal at our designated time yesterday, and were told they did not have it ready, but would deliver it to us on Thanksgiving Day. There has been no delivery, and absolutely no communication from them. If they had told us yesterday that they wouldnt be able to fulfill the order, it would have at least given us a chance to make alternate plans. However, now that it is late in the day, it is too late for us to have any back-up plan. We understand they are busy and overworked, but they also should have been transparent with their customers to allow us to make alternative arrangements. We have had no communication from them. They also should have cut off their orders in advance if they couldnt fulfill them.
I ordered my Thanksgiving meal from Addo for pick up. I was told on multiple occasions that I could come by at any time to pick it up. When I got there, there was a line that stretched around the block. I proceeded to stand in that line for *two and a half hours*, only to learn, when I reached the front, that they had no idea when my food might be ready, but they would take my number down and call when it was. I then waited another hour in my car, and still hadnt heard anything. I went back to ask them if they could at least give me an estimate. After hearing them tell a gentleman who had actually been scheduled to pick up his food the day before that they couldnt even tell him when hed see his food, I gave up and asked for a refund. Addo ruined my Thanksgiving. I spent hours freezing in the cold (I hadnt dressed with the expectation that Id be standing outside for hours), and with the drive to and from, wasted 4.5 hours of my day, all to go home empty handed. If I could give 0 stars I would.
It was so delicious. I look forward to going back again. Prices are decent for the quality.
We ordered a Thanksgiving meal and were told it had to be picked up at a very specific time the day before Thanksgiving. I went to pick it up, and after standing in line for an hour, I was told it was not ready, but they assured me it would be delivered that night. Got a call at 1130pm and was told it would be delivered between 10am and 3pm Thanksgiving day. We never received it. We tried to contact the restaurant and they did not return my email or phone call. Very disappointing.
I ordered their Thanksgiving tasting menu on November 15th, and paid an additional $15 for a delivery charge. I also live in the downtown Seattle area, so I’m well within the delivery range they specified. The preorder took my money, I got an immediate order confirmation email, and then I NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN. They ignored repeated emails from me asking for any kind of update or delivery window. They provide no other contact information on their Google page or website except that exact email address. I finally sent them a last strongly worded email the evening of thanksgiving, saying I would be filing a chargeback request and that I shouldn’t have to wonder if I got scammed on thanksgiving.Still no human reply, but later that evening I received an automated email that my order was refunded. So yeah. No food. No follow up. Plenty of notice time (12 days). I had to make other last minute arrangements because suddenly I had no thanksgiving dinner and no idea why.I’m just blown away that they could be this unprofessional and unprepared after being so highly reviewed. I imagine I’m one of many, many people who suddenly didn’t have a thanksgiving dinner and had to scramble. It was miserable. And completely preventable. I just don’t understand.
Such incompetence! Ordered a thanksgiving meal 3 weeks in advance. Arrived at the designated pick up time to be told they sold out (after having 3 weeks notice). Was told would be delivered by 12pm on thanksgiving. Never turned up, never got an email, never got a call to make alternative plans. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Spent $140 for two Thanksgiving tastings for my wife and self, ordered a week in advance scheduled to deliver on Thanksgiving. They never delivered our food, they never let us know what happened with our order and never contacted me or responded to any emails. We ended up making some instant noodles to eat for Thanksgiving. Not I have to file a chargeback with our credit card. Very fraudulent business with terrible customer service.
You should consider a different local small business for your holiday meals.
I ordered a 5-course Thanksgiving meal for my 75-year old mother who lives alone. I received confirmation of my order from the restaurant as well as a follow-up e-mail saying that the order would be delivered to my mothers address on Thanksgiving day. Couldnt be more disappointed that my card was charged and the meal was never delivered. Also no follow up from the restaurant, which does not have a phone number. Appalling that this establishment would take advantage of people who really needed them during these trying times. Buyer beware.
They didnt deliver the Thanksgiving meal we paid for, and still havent heard from them two days later about anything, not our food or a refund - if I could give them zero stars I would. We ordered a Thanksgiving meal and paid ahead of time and were told to come pick it up in Ballard at 3pm Wednesday (day before Thanksgiving). We get there and with the long line they eventually come let us know theyre really sorry, but theyre short staffed and theyll drop the order off tonight around 9pm - ok thats fine.9pm comes and goes and we finally get an update that theyre really sorry again, but they will definitely drop our dinner off the next day (Thanksgiving day) between 10am and 3pm. Ok we can have a later Thanksgiving.10am to 3pm comes and goes and nothing, so we send a text (notice they dont have a phone number) asking if theyre still on their way and they assure us yes, theyre just behind. At this point we hedged our bets and ran over to Whole Foods and picked up some premade food just in case, but really not expecting to need it, but came back, had a glass of wine, and by 6pm started up the oven to cook our own dinner, because they never showed. Two days later and still no word from them about the food or a refund, so... buyer beware I guess. I feel for them for being short staffed and always try to give the benefit of the doubt, but the lack of communication after the fact is unacceptable.
Ruined thanksgiving dinner. Overpromised and underdelivered. People waited hours for their dinner to not get their dinner at all. Blamed the problem on a local delivery company but then the owner replied to Instagram comments profusely apologizing taking responsibility, so that’s okay right? Later, the owner, Eric, DELETES ALL of comments and posts on Instagram relating to the incident. Way to be transparent, Eric. I will be taking my business elsewhere. This is not how you handle a business. He is offering a meal for Christmas and I suggest you not order it unless if you want a rendition of thanksgiving all over again.
We went here and did the Chef Counter with Eric Rivera for my Wifes Birthday. Eric and his team did an amazing job. The food was amazing, and he even gave us a to go bag of some of the other food that they were cooking for a different guest (since it smelled so great). This was by far the best Birthday experience my wife has ever had. We look forward to going back and enjoying many more dinners with Eric!
As I write this review I’m standing in line with 50-60 other people on Thanksgiving Day 2020. It’s raining and cold. Six weeks ago I ordered Thanksgiving dinner from Addo at a cost of $360 and was given a specific pickup time. I’ve been standing in line outside for over an hour past my designated pickup time. Some people have been waiting outside in line for 2 hours. There has been no communication from the restaurant or mia culpa. Some people gave up and walked away. I will NEVER eat at this establishment or order anything from Addo again. This is beyond shameful. Inexcusable.
Worst Thanksgiving dinner imaginable! We waited one hour to pick up their tasting menu that we pre-ordered. Soup was runny, watery and only flavor was salt. Mashed potatoes were thick white paste, and again only flavor was salt. Turkey was mediocre, and the best part of the meal. Brussel sprouts were meh, over cooked and mushy and tasted like salt. Cranberry sauce was literally one teaspoon of watery red something in a small plastic tub. Even the pumpkin ice cream was mostly flavorless, light and airy with little appeal. We threw most of it out.For $65 per person and given Erics reputation we expected Copine level food and effort. Really, this was just unbelievably bad. We would have been better off with pre-made dishes out of the case down the street at QFC. Never going back, and will warn our friends off it as well. Avoid!
Our Thanksgiving meal was ordered 10 days in advance at a cost of $203 with a holiday appropriate tip. When we arrived at 2:14 for our 2:15 pickup time there was a line of 50-75 people that extended around the block and encompassed Copine. I immediately got in line while my wife went to investigate. What we both discovered was that there were people in line who had been in line for 3 hours and that there was a line for refunds. However, there was no email, employee or other information to direct anyone on what to do next as well as no phone number for the business. We waited a while and then gave up when the line didnt move in 20 minutes. Not a single person moved forward. People got in line behind us and brought more word that, there was a guy that just got food! We all got a bit more excited until 5 minutes later no progress had been made again. We met a person who had expected his food to have been delivered more than 24 hours hours before we got in line. He had no food and not much hope as he had been to the front of the line and no one offered him much. We bailed. I was not going to spend my time on Thanksgiving waiting in line. We went to gather what we could from a grocery store to save the day. We pulled together a nice meal in just under a few hours but, it was not what we had planned, wanted, or anticipated. It is now 27 hours since our pickup time. Chef Eric Rivera has only responded to a few comments on the MyBallard page on FB but still not a call or email to those of us that ordered and gave money in exchange for food and drinks. I have read an apologetic early morning email addressed to the customers that were let down, disappointed, and unhappy. Just something to explain what happened and why we should put our trust in Addo to make it right. You see, my wife and I created multiple scenarios in our heads as to what could have happened. What tragic loss or incident had caused this many people to miss out on their promised and paid for Thanksgiving meal. We had sympathy for the staff on what must have been a hectic and terrible day trying to do what they could. We have sympathy for all of the small businesses who are trying to make it work and keep people employed during COVID shelter in place, and the entirety of 2020. In fact that was why we chose to order out. To support a small local business. And still we have not received word directly to us with our email or phone number that were provided on the forms we completed to order (and pay for) the food.I have heard what happened and why there were the delays. That every possible thing that could have gone wrong, did. I understand that. I own a small business and I know what it is like to have to just say, Mea culpa! I should have done better, and we failed. BUT here is how I am going to, fix it, make up for it, or make it better. We have NOTHING to show us that we will be refunded or taken care of in any way. We had to go searching for others in the same boat (remember there were at least 50 in line with us just at that moment so we knew there were others.) to get information. THIS is where the biggest miss was. I know, no one died, no one was injured, we had to regroup and make a meal. Not that big of a deal. We can handle it. What I cannot get right with is that there has been no communication AT ALL. Nothing. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. For the sake of the employees and the local community, I hope that Addo survives this and continues to be an active part of our neighborhood. I just dont know that I will be a customer.
Absolute failure of communication when they couldnt provide the Thanksgiving meals I had arranged with them. We waited for half an hour in line only to find out from other customers that the restaurant was unable to fill the orders they had accepted. My husband had to go track someone down to get a refund. I can understand the logistical issues, but its completely unacceptable not to communicate about them with your customers, especially when those issues are potentially ruining peoples holidays.
I cant say enough positive things about this place. So far, we have been there twice. Once for their 12 course tasting menu and the second time for their brunch tasting menu. This is the first place we have ever done tasting menus. It was so fun, delicious and interactive we had to go back.Chef Eric is extremely kind and knowledgeable on what he is serving you. Each dish is an exciting and yummy adventure. The last piece I want to acknowledge was how accommodating they are. For our brunch reservation, our 14 month old decided to take the longest nap of his life and made us 15 minutes late to our reservation. Not only did they not make us feel bad about it, they made their environment very kid friendly. They even had a little play station set-up!We will absolutely be going back for regular meals (and maybe another tasting menu or two :). )
Feel bad about your Thanksgiving fiasco so have to give you 5 stars to cheer you up for holidays! See you soon.
We moved to the Seattle area two years ago, and my wife and I discovered Addo while exploring and looking for new places. Addo has been our favorite discovery, and we really appreciate how they’ve adapted during the pandemic. Everything we’ve eaten there has been phenomenal, which is impressive, and all the more so because of the wide range of foods offered that are all equally well-executed.We had the pleasure of dining on-site a few times before the pandemic, and everyone was super friendly and the hospitality was wonderful. They use a pay-in-advance model where you order and pay for your entire meal online in advance, and then just show up on time and enjoy the meal – no need to get your wallet out at all unless you want to order a drink. My wife is an accountant, and she can’t believe more places don’t do this – We love it as guests, and we can only imagine it has the benefits on Addo’s side of helping with prep / workflow / inventory management and reducing food waste. It also removes the whole question of tipping etiquette and fair, stable wages for hospitality workers – but I won’t get on my soapbox about what a weird and terrible system tipping is.We love the creativity and variety of the themed events that they offer, but unfortunately we haven’t been able to participate in one yet. Some of the themed dinners are a bit out of our budget, but we’ve also dined-in for as little as $12 / person (Ramen, which was amazing!), so awesome food here is accessible to for a wide range of budgets.Since the pandemic, they have expanded their at-home offerings – we’ve ordered take-out a handful of times, and now we subscribe to their weekly oven-ready meals. We never know what we’ll get with our Meals Ready to Cook subscription, but we always know it will be amazing! Because they are reliable in their excellence, part of the fun is the discovery --- we get to try new things and even if it’s outside what we’d normally order it’s still always amazing. That said, there are a few things we’ve learned the hard way that I hope I can spare you from. Of course, who knows what may change amidst all this uncertainty, but at least you can look out for these things and plan ahead.1) On-site events are ticketed only --- not reservation only, but pre-paid tickets only. Make sure you’ve done what you needed to online ahead of time. We love their model, but if you found this review because you just did a search for “restaurants near me”, know that Addo is a place you have to make a plan to go to – not a just-stop-by kind of place.2) If they need to cancel, they will notify you via email. This only happened to us once and I’m sure it was a COVID related nightmare, but, not being someone who monitors my email much, I didn’t find out until after the half hour drive… now we just check before we leave, which is easy enough :)
Shame on you for overcommitting and ruining our Thanksgiving dinner. You are either very greedy or very incompetent.
Thank you for bringing creativity and hospitality to Seattle. We greatly needed it! Seattle is a hard City to do business in and I hope people become more understanding that service fees are the only way for amazing places like this to survive. I am happy to pay the extra for such great experiences.
This place is clearly run by people with an intentional and thoughtful approach to creating great food experiences and delivering service perfection. Cant wait to go back.
What a wonderful experience! Fantastic food and a great vibe. Perhaps the best pork dish I have ever eaten. Do yourself a favor and go to addo immediately.
Everything on the menu is outstanding!
The Bellevue Firefighters Foundation has been working with local businesses to help get food to those in need on the Eastside. The whole team at ADDO has been FANTASTIC - getting outstanding meals out to folks who truly need some help. Their assistance with large orders and their generosity of spirit and compassion at this challenging time is to be roundly commended. Thanks so much!!Charlie KimballBFCSF President
The salmon I bought was perfectly cut, cured and incredibly delicious, cant wait to order more things. Thank you Addo!
The servers are friendly and the space is conducive to different kinds of events, but the food was lacking. I would have liked to see a more cohesive menu and better execution of each dish.
We went to their Puerto Rican Sunday brunch and it was some of the best food we have had in Seattle. The price was a great value for the quantity and quality of the food. The chef and server each came and chatted with us through out our meal, they were very fun and the chefs story is great. The chef gets experimental with his food and themed events here. We will definitely be keeping an eye on their events and will be back soon.
When I first came here I was still expecting to find Royal drummer and was a little bummed about the whole experience... BUT I finally made it back for the Lechoncito lunch and now Im sold on this place. Chef Eric is super friendly, the food was awesome and there was a lot of it, and the cappuccino I got was really well executed. Also the prices were totally reasonable (I think the coffee prices were reduced a bit since some of the earlier reviews on here). Consider my first impressions shattered and Im looking forward to coming back for a dinner!
So much respect to these guys
I love Americanos and enjoy the adventure of trying them at various coffee shops all over, plus they are usually only about 3 bucks. This one came out to over $5 (a world record for me) AND it tasted horrible. You cant say you werent warned.
Great
We went to a seven course breakfast with bottomless mimosas. The staff and chef were great and we had a fantastic time. One of the best meals we had in Seattle!
Chef is a bundle of energy. Sit at the counter and enjoy the banter.
A special restaurant! Super fun and recommend to go with friends, and family for something delicious and exciting.
Chef Eric is does a phenomenal job with a diverse, changing menu. Its a great place with a super casual atmosphere. The Puerto Rican food here is outstanding and super authentic, but everything weve tried here has been great. Highly recommend.
Fast Delivery.
Great food amd atmosphere. Ran by gracious people.
The food is amazing, as always. Worth every penny.
The food Eric is making at this place is excellent. Puerto Rican brunch to 20 course custom tasting, its all good.
This place is amazing. From the Silva fancy tasting menu to Lechoncito Puerto Rican salsa night everything they offer is spot on. So far we tried the Silva tasting menu (super creative, super delicious), the Lechoncito menus (special mention for the crab mofongo and for the sancocho), the brunch menu and we also had the pleasure to spend an evening at chef Erics counter for a fantastic seven courses tasting menu. A special mention for Ingrids smile and efficiency: hostess, sommelier, manager, she is downright fantastic. Lovely people and a lovely place.
Amazing food and service. Chef Eric is awesome and his staff rocks.
We really enjoy addo! Weve been there for different experiences at different price points (lechoncito, tasting menus, Peruvian, fried chicken night by AbbaShack, dinner & a movie), but we always go home really well fed and happy! Its been a great way to try new inventive things, and always from chefs that are super passionate about what theyre putting out. We love what addo brings to the table, and adds to the community!
Their skilled adaptive menu but without the arrogance of other top notch chefs is making this a personal favorite.
Great vibe and amazing brunch
Love this place since the change. You can still get coffee-to-go from the Royal Drummer, but gratuity is already included in the price of your cup. So if youre used to tipping less than 20% the price might seem steep. However, they have only kept the best baristas and this espresso is top notch. (Shea is my personal favorite) Ive been stopping in for lunch more and more due to the insanely high quality of food for the price and the rotating menu keeps life interesting. I just had the chef blow torch a banana leaf tableside which was resting under wonderfully executed falafel, some beautiful fresh veggies, yogurt and a heap of bouncy quinoa which took on a smoky flavor from the banana leaf torching. My experience was $11. I mean...incredible value. Ive had most items they offer and each thing is executed so well. Only compliments from me.
Over priced, terrible food
The chef is very rude.
That was a blast. Thanks to Eric and the Addo team for such an enjoyable night of food and football!
Happy food indeed.
Truly amazing food
Prices are too high and there doesnt seem to be any decent management happening.
Great food
A must do.
