Absolutely love this store, such a gem. Right now they are accepting shopping appointments (though I believe they allow walk-ins depending on how crowded it is). Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable about the books. Grateful to live so close to this amazing shop.

This book store is so awesome! Could stand there reading about recipes all day. And the shopkeeps love sharing the information they have and generally, cheerfully, helping. Thanks, also, to their efforts to maintain a safe space during the pandemic.

I collect cookbooks like people collect coins (or whatever it is cool people collect these days). Like I literally cannot resist buying a good cookbook or book about food when I see one, and Ill read them from cover to cover just for kicks. The Book Larder is like a gift from above for me. A one stop shop for all your cookbook needs? Count me in!The store is a bit smaller than I imagined -- there is only one medium-sized room. However, the selection of books is great, and there are even a lot of autographed books on sale as well. Their prices are on the pricier side, but Im willing to pay a bit more to support this unique shop. One thing I wish they had was a little nook or something where you could sit and chill with a book.Additionally, they have a membership program, where you get $20 if you spend $200. Another cool thing they do are events were you can meet the chefs/authors of a particular cookbook. Id recommend signing up for their mailing list if youre interested in this sort of thing!

The Book Larder is a gem! The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. All the books are food related. They have author talks/book signings and classes and events here all the time. Oh, and they’re an independent bookstore! What’s not to love?! Give em a visit and enjoy!

The selection is nice, but there is a woman who works there with red curly hair that makes me never want to shop here again. From the moment I entered the store, she started following me everywhere I went. This is absolutely ridiculous considering the store is tiny and you can see anything and everything from one spot. Every time I looked up from shopping, she was either next to me or staring at me. I can only assume she was watching me to make sure I wasnt stealing even though I wasnt doing anything out of the ordinary. There were plenty of other people in the store that she could have been stalking, but she chose me. I was the only person of color in the store, so maybe that is what prompted her to watch me like a hawk. What a shame. I love to support small businesses with my HONEST hard-earned money, but I refuse to be stalked like Im doing something wrong when all I really want is to shop just like everybody else.To be fair, the girl behind the cash register was nice and welcoming. I have been to this store a handful of times before, so I know not everyone who works here behaves this way.

Stumbled into this place randomly the other day! A treasure trove of any cookbook you can imagine for any ingredient! We happened to arrive in the middle of their monthly Fika break (3-4pm on last Fridays, I believe) where we were served a free delicious homemade brownie and free hot chai tea. Fika is a swedish snack/tea break apparently, and I may just have to incorporate Fika into my non-swedish life now!

Located in the Freemont neighborhood, Book Larder is a mecca cookbook lovers of all stripes. Its a bit smaller than expected, given its huge and growing reputation, but the place is not only chock full of thoughtfully curated books but also a professional kitchen where classes and events (by local instructors and major culinary names) are held several times each week. Stop by on a Sunday afternoon and you might be lucky enough to have Seattle food writer Kim ODonnel - recent recipient of a prestigious MFK Fisher Distinguished Writing Award from the James Beard Foundation - help pick books that appeal to your particular tastes. If you spend more than $100 theyll pack your haul in an orange, heavy canvas logo bag sure to make your foodie friends green with envy.

One of just a hand full of cookbook-specific book shops in the country. Booklarder doesn’t just provide a great selection of books. Booklarder makes a point to create a community surrounding the kitchen. The shop host a variety of events, including author talks, bake offs, and classes. Make sure to give this Fremont gem a visit if you’re in the mood to up your kitchen game.
