Ive been shopping at this store for years. Appears the quality and freshness has gone downhill. Im not sure if its because change of owners or because of the pandemic. Yes the price is high but for quality & freshness thats expected. Last year I purchased some spotted prawns from AK and it was a big disappointment...most of them were mushy and old tasting. A couple days ago I purchased crab cakes which Ive done a few times in the past, also some salad shrimp from Oregon. The crab cakes were just ok, the shrimp was old and after a day I had to toss out. I will have to find another place to get better quality and freshness.

Clean and spacious shop. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Good selection of fresh and frozen seafood; also a small produce area. They have a good variety of smoked salmon. Their fresh Dungeness Crab was sweet and delicious! Also recommend their Cioppino seafood soup.

I have started going here more frequently. I love the quality of food and choices but Im giving one less star because of the 5 times Ive been there recently----I dont find the male staff very friendly. The female staff have been warm and friendly. The man who waited on me today was especially unfriendly and I decided to write this review. I would like to give this place more business but I will stop if this doesnt change.

I came here based a.) my sudden deep craving for seafood and b.) the excellent reviews. I couldnt have been more pleased with the experience. Its a very pleasantly-arranged and well-stocked little market, focused on fresh seafood but also featuring a nice selection of produce, wine, meats, and cured/smoked options.The man behind the counter was patient, knowledgeable, and very friendly-- he hooked me up with exactly the right amount of clams/mussels/crab for a hearty dinner for two people. That, as well as a couple of lemons and a bottle of wine-- all coming to an incredibly reasonable price.After cooked, everything was delicious and very obviously as fresh as it comes. I will 100% be coming back here. Thank you guys so much!

Great spot with an amazing selection of fresh seafood. We had the crab cakes which were great. I also love the local selection of wine and beer plus some fresh produce and pasta.

Not that special. A relatively limited selection of fish, which was a little dried out in the cabinet. Staff werent that helpful/knowledgeable about products. Prices were very high.

Were pretty spoiled by choice in Seattle when it comes to buying fish, but I really do think its hard to beat Fresh Fish Co. when it comes to selection and quality. Ive been coming here for years, and short of finding your own fisherman and cutting out the middleman altogether, I dont know how youd get better cuts of fish than what theyre getting here. The prices are higher than youll see in chain grocers, but you get what you pay for in that regard. If youre living in Ballard, I cant recommend this place enough!

Great place to buy fresh and smoked fish, locally made Cascioppo Brothers sausage, cioppino stock, and flank steak. I often grab a green veggie and bottle of wine for a one stop delicious dinner. Friendly and colorful counter help to boot.

You want FRESH seafood with multiple choices? Look NO further! This has seriously got to be the best fresh selection Ive seen in a while. From veggies to Fish, patties to beef sticks, and fresh made daily YUM! They also have a bakery on the corner, TO DIE FOR!

Been going here for years but lately the variety offered has been lacking, their prices have gotten a little crazy and honestly I’m sick of the ladies cranky attitude every single time we’re in there…. This place used to be a ballard gem.

Ive bought smoked fish and crab cakes here several times, and they are very good. However, the staff isnt taking mask-wearing wearing seriously, wearing it pulled down around their nose and mouth while they handle the fish...so I cant recommend shopping there until we are past stage 4. =(

Best place in Ballard for fresh seafood! They frequently have samples of their smoked fish available to try. Came here originally looking for Penn Cove mussels (which they have at a good price) and keep stopping back every time Im im the neighborhood for the smoked black cod, which is indescribably delicious. Top notch pickled herring too!

Truly a hidden gem of Ballard. The staff are helpful and willing to work with you. Their suggestions are always on point! The fact that they also have some wines and veggies means you can put together nearly a complete meal in one stop, and they always care about quality.

We have recently discovered Fresh Fish Co next to Larson’s Bakery at 24th and 78th streets. We purchased the gulf shrimp and Snapper and were really pleased with the quality of both. We were all about how easy it was to cook and impressive flavor ...now my “Go to” market for seafood!

Best pickled herring in sour cream Ive ever had. My husband loves it..I usually dont enjoy more than a bite or two but this was delicious. The peppercorns have a floral quality reminiscent of Timor spice, and the sauce is thick and tangy.Customer service was also excellent and the sashimi grade fish looks good.

Competitive prices on fish that is the highest quality around. Anywhere else, youll usually pay more for less. They dont have a huge selection but what they do have is as good as it reasonably gets. Ive been told that their Scandinavian-ish seafood salads and sides are quite authentic, but theyre not my favorite. They also have a good selection of wine, beer and vegetables.

Staff were helpful, they had some great scallops for a reasonable price given the quality. The landjaeger they carry was a very tasty snack, too. Happy to have local fish shops in Ballard!

Convenient local store with strong selection of fish and seafood products plus steaks, flank steak, ground beef, lots of sausages, dairy, some vegetables, a small wine selection and a few other odds and ends (like panko for breading fish). A go to when I just want to grab something quickly on the way home, or want to walk to the store rather than drive.

Always a pleasure coming here. The Staff is helpful and they always have sometime tasty no matter what time of year. Make sure to try the Smoked Salmon dip, and they the ritz crackers that are perfect for it there.

Love this place! While it is more expensive than heading down to the local Safeway, you can tell that the fish is fresh and the crab cakes are to die for! Conveniently located for us down the street but the parking is a little sketch if you have to drive.

This is our favorite fresh fish market in Seattle. They offer a home made crab and artichoke dip that is amazing, and their ready-to-cook crab cakes are our absolute favorite. We try to get there once a week for the makings of a restaurant quality meal that we can make at home (for a lot less money than dining out).

This is the best spot in N. Seattle for consistently fresh quality fish as well as multiple kinds of smoked fish (black cod, kind salmon, steelhead, etc.). They also carry sausages, beef, pork and have a good selection of vegetables. They also carry Smith Bros dairy products. Overall a great spot.

Weve been a few times now, and the quality and prices have been terrific on everything from beautiful whole fish, sides and fillets, to an impressive selection of smoked fish, to prepared dips. They have a lovely butchers section as well; the sausages were excellent. Service has been super friendly every time. Theyre thoughtfully stocked with a selection of fresh veggies, soup, beer, wine, and frozen goods - overall a great little neighborhood fishmonger, equally perfect for last minute dinner shopping as it is a worthy regular on grocery rounds.

Excellent prices for fresh, tasty, local seafood. They supply many high end seafood restaurants in seattle. If you dont mind making it yourself you can have delicious seafood at a fraction of restaurant price! Staff is very friendly and helpful.
