I have been bringing my car to this location for the last couple of years. They have always done a good job and were reasonable. In addition to that I brought my car in recently and Mark offered to match another car repair shop’s discount offer for A/C recharge - Freon. I had looked around for discounts and although none offered there at the time, he kindly wanted to help and in courtesy offered this which was very nice of him. I brought my car in and it turned out not only was my air working, the air was cold and it did not need work or Freon at all. I just needed to turn it on a certain way that I didn’t remember as I hadn’t used it in a long time. I was relieved and very grateful to Mark for being honorable and professional and caring about his customers and not charging me. Not only that, but Mark offered to take a few minutes and he and his team took a look at my car to try to figure out why a very loud noise had also recently started coming out of what appeared to be my engine. He did not charge me for that and he found out what was wrong so that when I am able to I can figure out what to do about it with my car. In doing that somehow the noise, although still present, was somehow in their trying to help with it, lessened for now till I can address it. In these present hard times especially, Mark’s concern to help steady customers is really appreciated. He does a great job and Brake Masters is fortunate to have him as an employee.

Had to have the brakes checked on my 2008 Tahoe i had noticed a grinding noise and the truck just wasnt stopping like it used to. While inspecting my truck they had noticed that my brake master cylinder had been leaking and that was was the reason my truck was not stopping well. The also told me my brake pads were worn and that was the grinding noise I had been hearing. So I needed brakes all the way around and a master cylinder. I had to fix the brakes, but just couldnt afford the master cylinder at that time. I approved the brake job, after they had finished the brake master cylinder stop working completely. Thanks to Mark and Falisha, they replaced the brake master cylinder for me at no charge. Thank you so much for the help I will recommend this Brake Masters store to everyone. Thank you much

I have an old car that needed several repairs recently. After the latest tow, when I picked up my car from brake master, not everything was functioning as it should.I returned the next day. Mark took charge and made sure the issues were resolved. It took longer than expected, but now everything is working well and Mark did everything in his power that i would leave as a satisfied customer and come back at a future date.Thank you Mark and your competent team!UPDATE:When you go, be sure to speak to Mark or Felicia.I scheduled an oil change which would take about 45 minutes. Mike called me 45 minutes later to tell me I needed $350 worth of maintenance. I just had my struts replaced there 3 days earlier. So, I declined. Mike then told me my car could die any minute after driving off because I only had 68% left on my battery. NOT cool, Mike!This was the 2nd time Mike had tried to pull a serious upset in less than 12 months! My car is 25 years old and needs frequent repairs to keep it on the road, but I do NOT need unnecessary work done. Maybe Mike thinks he can easily fear monger a woman?

My boyfriend and I were leaving Phoenix to drive back to our hometown of Denver when we noticed an oil leak. We were worried that we would have to wait for hours to get help. I called Brake Masters store #148 and told them what was going on, asking if they would be able to see us today. They said that they absolutely would fit us in right then. We went over, they were so kind, ran a bunch of tests for us, and had us back on the road in under 20 minutes. The lobby area was spotless, had fresh coffee, and the comfiest chairs I’ve ever sat in. We felt extremely safe and cared for by the staff. And they wouldn’t even let us pay!! Absolutely would recommend this team. Thank you brake masters!!

So for those of you who have been coming to this location during the last year or so as I have know about Al and James. James is no longer working at this location and Al only works on Monday’s and Tuesday’s as he is semi retired now. Shawn Cheney is the new manager and Bian Reynolds is the assistant manager. They appear to be very professional and the honest reliable service I have always experienced appears to be intact.I have a 2004 Chevy Colorado and yes I have been the only owner of it. All the parts are original so after almost 16 years of wear and tear I expect almost anything to go wrong with it at this point...LOL!!! I went today (May 31 2019) for a radiator replacement but Shawn’s mechanic found out I also needed a AC Pressure hose and an AC condenser. The AC issues didn’t shock me because my AC has been acting kind of funny for the past couple of months however the price was a bit steep to fix it all.Here is the thing with me though I don’t really haggle about price when it comes to my Truck and SUV because living in Arizona requires you have fully functioning forms of transportation. So with that being said what choice do I really have right? While I don’t expect any issues with this particular visit I will update this review once I actually drive my truck and evaluate the actual repairs.UPDATE: The A/C has been working FLAWLESSLY for 2 years now...so once Brake Masters Delivers!!!!UPDATE 6/18/2021...Greg, the new assistant manager has kept the honest approach alive at this location. He does however needs all the help he can get...LOL...he really does an awesome job with a limited staff in fact the day I visited it was just him and one other employee running the entire shop.

Usually go to another location. stopped in as i needed a quick oil change and some other stuff...The manager Larry is really amazing. 1- He is patient and made sure to explain everything in simple English and not car talk. 2- There were some other issues, Larry took the time to research and find other ways to fix it besides just replacing it thereby saving me money!!

I came in because I thought the brakes on my 2016 Cadillac CTS were feeling soft. Its always been serviced at the dealership, but I could get in here to get it looked at quicker. After inspection, they told me my brakes were basically still new, about 80% left. He wouldnt even try to sell me brakes, and theyre Brembo. He did say that the brake fluid was dirty, and I told him since its up on the lift, lets flush it. On MY suggestion, not his. I love that there are still honest places out there, and honest people working there. Six stars all day

Told us they Checked the brakes, that we needed pads on front and rear breaks, and that the rotors both were shot, and too far gone to rotate. This was going to cost 500, we took it to our mechanic friend who took off front tires to find both of the front brake pads were like new hardly any wear. Only one back rotor needed replacement, the other was fine no need for rotating it smooth again(not to mention it had plenty of space to be rotated if needed). This place is a scam. They even took my number as well as the girlfriends, when. They were looking for the wheel lock they called me( figuring since I’m a man I will know where to find this even, though it’s her car) they then only called her to tell her what was wrong and how much it would cost.( thinking since she’s a woman they could rip her off easier) so this place is not only a scam they seemed a little sexist.Don’t take their word for it, do your research!

If you wanna get scammed go here! Told me my compressor was locked and could fix it that day for $1150 with manager discount. When getting a second opinion and finding my forever shop they told me it was just the $150 fix for the a/c belt. They informed me that I was being scammed because if the shop had check my compressor with the engine running they would have known better! Pure laziness and unprofessional mechanics almost cost me $1150( with discount) shame on you!!!!

I love this BreakMaster location. They are honest every time. I never take time to review businesses online, but I have to today. My car broke down last night, and I had to get it towed to another location. That location did the diagnostics today, and called me back with prices (a coil needing to be replaced). The first thing I did was call Al at Break Masters, I let him know what I was being charged and asked him if it was fair. Rather than try to steal my business, which with years of going there he easily could have, he said it was fair and that I should do it rather than risk getting my car to them. Well, I am going to do the necessary work at the second location, but you can bet Ill be doing everything else at Break Masters. I love these guys, especially Al! I would recommend them every time!

Very friendly and really went out of thier way. My vehicle was over heating due to a coolant hose that came loose on my way to work. They helped me out with the minor repair right on the spot so i wouldnt end up blowing head gasket. I was able to get to work on time and i really appreciated the assist. There is plenty of other automotive business in the area, use them. This location will send you away with incomplete repairs to your vehicle and labor charges for work not performed.

While I was deployed to Iraq my wife was having trouble with her brakes squealing. Turned out they were just very dirty (no charge) HOWEVER, they could have easily sold my wife new brakes, calipers, etc., and no one would have ever known the difference. They have earned my trust because of this. Weve brought our vehicles there ever since. They do good work, they stand behind their work and they are HONEST, which to me is the most important thing. I deal mostly with Al (hes great!) but the others are good too. Im shocked to see anyone has had a bad experience here - I guess you cant please everyone.

Disappointing. Wont go back. Have been here before and was pleased....but never again. They did their free inspection...came back and said that my brakes had 60% left, were fine, and all brakes squeek. I told him I have never had a car that that was a normal event on, and these have a squeeking/light grinding 100% of the time even when NOT braking. He said thats normal. Huh?? $50k cars squeek 100% of the time. I came back a second time and told him there is definitely something wrong, same response from him. I asked if he would test drive it as it would be obvious, he said he was busy and maybe if I waited a while....no thanks to waiting so I could convince him he was not thorough. So I took it to a second shop a block away...turns out my front brake pads was gone and needed new ones....I went to look myself as I have changes brakes personally and couldnt understand why one shop says 60% and the other shop 0%...turns out the worn section was the inside of the pad....not outer easily visible pad...so I guess a got a visual free inspection from someone who did not make the effort to take off the tire and thoroughly check. They should know better, and also to tell me that factory front brake pads that have 50K miles on them would have 60% left?!?...they wear faster than that so it doesnt pass the common sense test. Also, sounds like squeeky brakes are an acceptable condition to them...so if I bought new ones from them that squeeked...that I should be happy and that normal?! Does your current car squeek all the time?? Im guessing no. I was trying to force my money on him, but happy I paid more down the street from someone who took the time to diagnose properly and doesnt think squeeky brakes are normal. I guess you get what you pay for, the free inspection resulted in 3 trips to a brake shop...what a waste of workday time.

I was lied to and my car was damaged. I had been coming here for 15 years and am never going back. In 2014 I had terrible work done by an employee that was later fired. I had gone back several times and each time I was told it was fine, until the time the employee was actually fired and the staff told me theyd fix what he had done for no charge (as it was their fault/bad work the company had done). This was when I was told that he was fired and heard the story of why. Ive still had a persistent issue which I was told a several times was nothing to worry about until I heard a metal on metal noise. Now the issue that was nothing before has a $400+ bill. The only part that isnt working is one that was fixed initially by the fired employee, that I had complained about several times only to be told not to worry and that is was nothing.It was at this point that I was given the number of Tim Harthant at the corporate office, whom I called. During the course of our conversation he lied to me about the former manager getting fired (specifically told me he moved on to another position and was not fired, which I know for a fact is not true) and told me that since I had already received a credit for them initially fixing the bad work, I couldnt get a second one to finish fixing what they had broken. Keep that in mind when they tell you that you have a warranty. They can just decide to not honor it. I was told by the people there that looked at my car that they could tell shotty work was done and the history showed that the guy that was fired did what he had been doing and got me out of the shop and swept it under the rug.Ill say what most everyone in these reviews is saying with the addition of one giant caveat. Al and Pat are great, but their hands are tied by corporate. When I spoke to corporate, Tim Harthant didnt listen to me, he only waited to talk, and told me a blatant lie which makes me really wonder what else he is dishonest about. Places like this only exist because people dont want to do the 5 minutes of work to find an actual mechanic with lower prices that does better work, and actually stands by it.

They are Lairs!! Dont trust this place they told me i needed new calipers when i did not. Just went in for new front brakes and rotors and they tried to get away with charging me 800 including a Part i DID NOT need!! Very Unhappy with this place!
