My review isnt so much about the service you provide, and more about the fact that youre never open when I try to come in. Left work early today to swing by and grab some motor oil.... Says online youre open till five but the doors were locked at 4:30. Pretty aggravating.
When Charley asked me what I would like for my trade I replied with, what I felt, was a fair amount. He countered with a figure that was $200 more. You cant get any more honest than that.
Bought a Honda Grom here and the service was absolutely wonderful. Charlie was by far the nicest, friendliest, most helpful “salesman” I have encountered. He even helped me strap the bike to the back of my van and gave me some straps. Highly recommend Charlie and Jaf motors. Hope they can get some more bikes in stock.
I walked in, excited about that MT 03 sitting out front. No one helped, greeted, or anything. I felt pressured to leave without it being said. I left without anyone saying a single word to me. Sweet bike, to bad we couldn’t make a deal.
I called to get a inspection, he said he was full, but if I got there fast, he would do it, it still took me some time to get there, but he took me in and did the inspection, even gave me a good deal on a Joe Rocket jacket!
I searched for a specific ATV on line and the manufacturers web site showed JAF had one in stock. Before driving there, I called to see if it was accurate. I was told no, but they are available. When I asked what that meant, I apparently annoyed them, after a delay, through background noise and on speaker phone, theres one coming in May. I then asked for the price, the response, in an annoyed tone, whatever the web site says. At that point I said goodbye and hung up. JAF, you had your one chance to make a first impression and you sure made one on me. Be assured, I will never call your store or grace your door step. I wouldnt want to take your time up as a buyer as your candor suggests you have other more important priorities.
I have been a long time customer and Charlie and Doc are the best to supply and Doc is the best for service it is a great place to shop and for service I have never been disappointed
Got a great deal on a bike when literally noone else had any. Fast easy process
The gentleman here that works the front is a complete douche. I went in there with cash money ready to make a purchase that day but I was dressed in work clothes so he must have assumed that I was just there to bullshyt. They were extremely rude and obviously not prepared to do their job and answer some of the questions I had in regards to everything because I was in dirty work clothes and they judged me right off the rip and in doing so they lost a sale. Its probably time to shut your doors jaf Motors or change your owner or employees or whoever it was. However, in the back was an older gentleman and he was pretty polite in a nice guy and jolly like Santa Claus. Perhaps your experience will be different than mine. Good luck
Charlie is a really great guy, a little eccentric, but very knowledgeable and willing to help. All of the staff that I worked with helped me with every part of the first buying process and were wonderful. The only issue I ever ran into was sometimes the shop can be closed 10mins early if its a slow day, understandable, but it meant I have to swing by on two different days to get maintenance done. Overall, I would recommend this shop.
Jaf motor sport is a great shop with great employeesCharlie is one of a kind and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone out and is trying his best to get inventory in the shop but due to the pandemic factory workers were not essential and machines were not being built for almost a year as a human race make sense of thisIf yamaha is open dont mean all the other part maker in witch the machine is built are so things go on back oreder witch where we areI thank these guys for there hard work and I will continue to be a loyal customer as they are great with me and my family and friends
I had an excellent experience with the staff and the customer service provided to me. I was looking for a CBR500R and had shopped around many local dealerships for one. The staff here were able to price match my best offer, get me the color I preferred, and allowed me to use my own financial institution for the loan.
Good people, good deals, what else do you need, I have done several deals there and very satisfied
Everyone has an opinion and heres mine. Im glad I didnt listen to the reviews I read. Charlie is A+, top of the line. I didnt have one issue at all. The day I was suppose to go, I ended up sick. He was totally understanding. It took me a while to get there and to get everything taken care but it was no fault of his, it was all me. Not only is Charlie a great guy but he runs a business the old fashioned way. He didnt try to sell me something that was over powering. Today I go back to get my safety gear which he finds just as important as the as being happy with the bike. He wants you happy and safe. So, like I said. We all have opinions so please dont let the reviews you read sway you away from JAF, if you do, your missing out on one of the most honest guys out there !
I purchased a new Honda 250F from them, the owner and his associates were very friendly and professional.
Stopped in to get some information on Honda generators. The sales staff was not very knowledgeable and they promised to call the next morning with prices and delivery time. That was two weeks ago and I still havent heard from them.
Charlie and crew took excellent care of my bike even though I purchased it elsewhere. They were by far the most pleasant dealership/ mechanics I have ever dealt with, I don’t know what these other reviewers are expecting. Don’t listen to the naysayers, JAF is the place to go!
Extremely friendly staff. Charlie and Brad hooked me up my new Honda Rebel. Very knowledgeable. Made the process quick and easy. Definitely recommend.
Friendly and knowledgeable. Straightforward with no sales press. Great shop and Ill always take my bike there.
I didnt buy a bike I went with my brother but our experience was really great. Customer service was inviting, informative and not pushy. they care about what suits you and not what suits them, these guys are exceptional. My brother wound up buying a yamaha bike from them and couldnt be happier with the buying process.
Great place. The store itself isn’t exactly top shelf, but the attitude of the employees is amazing! Super positive place!
Looking for starter road bike for son, never seem to be open. called today FRIDAY @ 3:15 pm Sales line, no answer, V/M is full. where is current inventory on your web page??? ..
I go into JAF typically once or twice a year to pick up parts for my bikes. Quite frankly I find them convenient and reasonably competitive with online retailers, especially when you only need a gasket or other small items. There are several negative reviews here but I really think it comes down to expectation. This is not a big, high dollar bike shop, just the owner and a couple of employees. Charlie (the owner) will do just about anything for you and he is quite knowledgeable. He also has a memory for his customers and can remember your name from year to year. His knowledge comes from living the industry from the time he was a kid. Origins of this shop dat bake to his dad when the shop was at the bottom of Broadway in Schenectady.Admittedly their customer service for parts & service lack a bit but good mechanics are often quiet and reserved. Bottom line is that they know their stuff. If you are there to get your bike fixed having a good mechanic is better than finding a good conversationalist.
Great Experience! Picked up a 2016 Honda CB500F. Charlie was great to work with and a knowledgeable person in helping me pick my first bike.
Needed a clutch cover gasket for a 81 CB900C. Called and talked with Doc. No problem. Being a older motorcycle it had to be ordered. Still beat online price with shipping by $10 and change. Buy local when you can!
My favorite bike dealer in the area, definitely the place to go if you are looking to buy a Yamaha or Honda motorcycle.
I bought my kids a 2017 Honda trx90 from Charlie a little over a year ago and recently stopped in looking for the new crf450L and he surprised me that he remembered my name.. I told him the kids are loving the wheeler and might buy a second one lol.. Charlie is definitely old school sales and very friendly guy to buy from.. Charlie is Joes brother from Albany Honda and have excellent reviews since I bought an from both dealership.. Thanks guys for a good experience...
Great service, ask for Charlie and expect a great experience! As a first time buyer he took the time to make sure I was getting the right bike. Couldnt ask for more!
Very helpful nice small shop they sell quality stuff
Great place to buy a machine. Charlie is top notch. Definately give them a shot!
Bought my second new bike from Charlie at jaf. Hes a great guy to do business with.
JAF is knowledgeable and has been in this business for a while. Their service department is good but I have to say their customer service is not 100%. Customer service needs work.
Let me start by first saying I have never been one to write a review because I had yet to come across an experience that I felt needed one. I read the 3 reviews on this page and was discouraged to visit JAF due to the various negative reviews. Out of convenience (being a native of scotia) I decided to give it a try however in my search for a new ATV. When I arrived it was 5 oclock Weds evening, the day before thanksgiving; when I walked in I quickly realized the staff had gone home for the night and the only person left was the owner himself. He had his coat in hand and he too was preparing to head home for the night, once I realized this I asked if he would rather me come back on Friday; the owner assured me that he did not mind. The owners knowledge of ATVs was obvious and had a clear and concise answer to any question I asked him. To make a long story short, he ended up getting me into an ATV much different then i was looking for and one that I am now much happier with. The owner stayed much longer than he had anticipated working a deal that we could agree too, and much cheaper than I had expected. Not only did he do this, he personally delivered the ATV to my front door that night, a trip far out of the way to his home and also went over the ups and downs of the ATV so I too had a good understanding of it. I can not speak on any of the sales or parts departments: just on the owner himself and his kindness, going above and beyond a sales experience I could ask for, JAF has my business for life. I would encourage anyone in the market for a dirt bike or ATV in the capital district give this place a try.
Love this place i feel like a kid in a candy store 1st place i go when im pooking for bike parts or just looking
Great price and pleasure dealing with. Thanks Charlie.
Called on a part. Rude service. Couldnt get me off the phone quick enough. Didnt even help. Ill give my money to someone who will try.
Bought my first bike just over a month ago - and like the previous reviewer decided to do so despite the negative reviews and because of the convenience of the location to me.When I arrived the only person there was in the service section, but he got me started. I knew what I was looking for (Honda Rebel) - and they happened to have a 2014 model in store. I already had my loan pre-approved through my credit union. While he was not overly knowledgeable about the sales part of it, he contacted the owner by phone and he showed up 15 minutes later. The destination fee was waived and he knocked a few hundred dollars off the list price - which is very fair seeing there isnt a lot of wiggle room on a Rebel. I bought all my gear through them at a 20% discount - which ended up being at or lower than online prices. So that was fair - seeing not paying shipping charges pretty much wiped out what I paid in tax. They took care of all the DMV hassle for me, and offered to deliver it to my house. I couldnt make the first date - so they were happy to reschedule. In the meantime I found a friend willing to ride it home for me (Im 3 miles from the shop). The owner stayed late to accommodate me picking it up this way.I have not dealt with their service dept. yet but I will be in a few days. A month into riding and Ive already put 500 miles on my bike. Another 100 to go for the break in service. Hoping the service lives up to the sale.-- Just an update - Bought a second bike here just a week ago. Had to have my Rebel serviced twice (the first time a part was on back order - they patched the bike up the best they could to let me ride) - on my second visit I knew I was outgrowing the Rebel. After reading up and taking some suggestions from the Owner, I ended up on a CB500X. Because I was not trading in my Rebel (keeping it at least till next season) - I told them the numbers had to work in order for the bank to finance it, as well as to keep my payments under control. They did a 2nd bike deal for me - and while it wasnt a grand slam deal - it worked in my budget. They also worked with me on the first bikes repairs. Couldnt be happier with JAF.
I checked the hours after Christmas day, and gave them a call, parts and service wasnt open but the owner was there and said he could help me out, I came down and he was very pleasant and intersted in what I was working on. The owner seems knolegable with basic over the counter parts. I was there a year ago and there was a man at the service desk who went by Doc, and he was helpful and informative on my older snowmobile, and I took my carbs to have them inspected to see if the needed work. They checked out fine with no replacement parts or service needed, and didnt charge a bench fee for keeping them overnight.
I Go in several times a year ordering parts and fluids. I bought a new honda there with a great experience they even delivered the bike right to my door! I always go in and buy new parts online parts are retail pricing and shipping can take long not with this dealer!its very nice to have a local honda dealership which are typically few and far between to find. Buy local shop local jaf honda has a lifetime customer with me.
I agree with the other reviews the only person i saw in the whole place was rude, unhelpful and not a good liar. I remember several years ago they were decent but something must of changed.
The staff seems to not want business. Really only good for dropping off tires for mounting, if you can get there when they are open.
Just called to see if I could get a gear sensor on my my Vmax looked at. -and I dont think he had a clue what I was talking about-- would give ZERO stars if I could
I am going to buy a motorcycle. I want one.
Employees are rude on the phone and in the store.
Always a good experience!!
Sales team didnt say hello or ask if they could help me find anything. Wasnt busy when I went in either.
There bad customer service
Love it!!!
