I had my 2013 Smart Car here to replace a pulley and 2 belts. The car would not turn over but it would crank. After they replaced the pulley and belts it still would not start but would still crank. I paid for a second diagnosis for them to find out why the motor would not the turn over. They said it threw a code stating a major compression issue. They then called me and said I had to take it to the Mercedes dealer for further work. We had it towed to the Mercedes dealer and within 4 hours we were notified that the engine had lost compression due to either a cracked head or piston. Personally I would think any mechanic would be able to tell with two diagnostic, cranking the engine and knowing all belts and pulleys were operable that engine was blown. Needless to say I am very unhappy with the amount of money I was charged for the diagnostic (that they couldn’t identify). I think common sense would have come into play somewhere.They are a very nice family owned company. I just wanted to let everyone know of my not great experience.

I recently moved to Sarasota and A-Z Auto Repair was recommended to me. I am so glad they were because when my starter failed, they provided excellent, timely and friendly service! I will definitely be having them take care of any future car repairs.

Don & Debbie are two of the most genuine people you will ever meet. They repair all of our work vans and I personally take all my vehicles to them. They really do their best to make sure the customer is happy. The most important thing is honesty. They will tell you if its broken and tell you if its NOT broken. Hands down best experience I have had with any kind of mechanic. From the time we had our truck towed to the shop to picking it up we experienced such great service. They are fair and kind and dont try to sell you in any type of service you dont genuinely need. All of the work we had done is also under warrant for a year. It is very hard to find a shop where the customer and their car is treat with respect and competence. Im having a starter issue with my 1995 Nissan 300ZX. Don is a 300ZX guru - or so Ive been told. He proved it today. He and the mechanic assigned to the car diagnosed the problem within fifteen minutes. Ive had two other Z32 experts try to do the same thing with negative results.He found a solution. He told me what to do to prepare for the repair as its specialized. I am confident my one-hour drive has proven fruitful and I have found my go-to shop (at last!) for my familys other vehicles and for recommendations to my neighbors and friends.Both Don and Debbie are personable and work hard at running a great shop. Clean, tidy, and the waiting area is very comfortable. Classical music is even playing!

What an amazing team Don, Debbie & their technicians are.Super friendly to us three and especially caring with our 3 yr old son.Our SUV needed the timing belt replaced and they had it ready as scheduled along with the oil change in our second car.I would also like to add that Don is extremely detailed and took his time to explain the process and showed me the old water pump and belt afterwards - I’m grateful that he put on an upgraded pump.We highly recommend them!

We discovered them when needing service while in Sarasota which is not our home base. Family member has made Sarasota home and this is her go shop for honest evaluation and quality repairs. It is huge to have a service provider who you can trust. If told a repair can wait or needs to be done we believe them. It is truly freeing not having to question their assessment.

I took my truck to the dealership this morning to diagnose why the fan under the hood would intermittently run hard. I was floored by the quote they had given me to replace my water pump and perform a coolant flush, especially after speaking with mechanic and mechanically inclined friends and family. Contacted A-Z Auto Repair for a quote and Im so happy I did! They quoted me less than half of what the dealership had and took my truck in the same day and got me taken care of. Additionally, they let me know that 2 of my belts should be replaced and it would save money doing it now rather than later (of course, the dealership failed to mention this as well). Thank you to Debra and the rest of the staff at A-Z for getting me taken care of so quickly and efficiently! Ive found my new mechanic in Sarasota! These people where awesome!! Our daughters 03 Infinity was stuck 20 miles from home. I thought the battery was dead but had no voltage tester..took to Sams Club and found it to be fine..put it back in still just clicking ..figured it possibly to be the starter. Meanwhile had tow truck on the way to bring to infinity...Ugghhh. ...$$$$..decided in a flash to call A-Z..Debra was very helpful on the phone at 3:30 on a fri!! Gave me a Tele quote of 1/2 the amount of infinity and had us fixed and out the door at 5 pm!! We are very satisfied..they are courteous, honest and precise and REASONABLE .. can believe that? Highly recommend!! God bless them!!

Don is the best! My daughters car started having problems while she was taking a trip with friends. I am mechanically competent but was 4 states away. I am always hesitant to use a mechanic-especially someone I dont know in a different state. Don was professional, caring and most importantly honest. He diagnosed the problem and gave several affordable options. He didnt try to upsell or overcharge. His main concern was the same as mine-to get my daughter home safely (which he did). I found myself in a jam while traveling 500 miles from home - the generator failed in my 1962 Impala. Called and spoke with Don and he took the time to ask key questions and walk me through potential options for solving the problem so I could get back on the road. He recommended Trail Generator for the best outcome. I called and the next morning I had a rebuilt generator and made it home safely. Huge thanks to Don for helping me figure out the best way to get the car home while preserving the integrity of my classic ride!

Just like the other reviews said, they treat you right. The owner got me in for an oil change same day. They also do a safety inspection...They didnt find anything note worthy on my 2002 jeep Cherokee which surprised me. I also really enjoyed talking with the owner Don. They are very friendly and personable. I fully recommend going here.

This place is amazing! Best customer service ever. My sons car had an bad alternator and they worked through it until we got an alternator that finally worked. Went through 5 or 6 alternators over the course of less then a year. It was the part store that was at fault here but A-Z auto was so patient and kept at it until we found a better alternator. Thanks for relentless and hard work to figure the situation out.

Well I dont write reviews unless a company is worthy of it and I must say this repair shop is definitely worthy. My Infiniti G37s blew radiator fluid everywhere. I had no clue from where. I searched for an auto shop near by and after reading the reviews I decided to call them. Debbie answered the phone and was very polite, knowledgeable, and most of all understanding of the kind of day I was having. She was able to give me a quick estimate over the phone which sounded very reasonable. They were able to get me in same day, actually within an hour of my call, so I had my car towed there. They found the problem/leak and where able to order the part and repair it same day. The qoute that Debbie gave me was for a complete different issue (which I thought it was), but with parts and labor it actually came out a little less. This is how I know they are an honest shop.I have been to many repair shops that try and sell u on things u dont need or even say they repaired items or it took longer or my car needs a new flux capacitor. So I am writing this because I recommend this shop to anyone in the area or that breaks down in this area. I live 60 miles away and cant be thankful enough that this shop was here to help me. I will make the 60 miles drive if my car ever has problems again, it will be well worth the drive to have an honest shop tell me the truth.

Most honest and reliable mechanic I’ve come across! When my connecting rod went bad on my car he did all the necessary research and found out there was a recall on my car for that part! As we speak I’m getting a new engine in my car from the dealership because of a-z auto! Anybody could of taken advantage but he was HONEST which in my book is a big thing for mechanics!! Ive been going to A-Z sporadically for the last 2.5 years. The service has always been very honest and reasonably priced. Jim I believe is his name, he normally answers the phone and helps with pricing. Nothing I love more then a warm friendly voice on the other end of the line. As a woman and daughter of a mechanic, I appreciate that Im not taken advantage of and things are explained in an informative manner and not patronizing. Yes that has happened since having moved to Florida. So I highly recommend A-Z auto repair they also gave me a great referral when I had body work to be done on my Pilot.

I have never gone for an oil change or any other service without a mechanic shoving extra charges/services down my throat...until visiting this shop. These mechanics are so genuine and straight forward and truly enjoy their job. Ive been here twice and have been blown away by the service Ive received both times. On my first visit (new to the area), I came in for an oil change and asked if they could fix my engine splash guard (since it was dragging on the floor). I expected an extra charge but the mechanic (forgot his name) told me they were able to reinforce it and refused to charge me extra!The second time was last week - my center console was not closing. I stopped by (without an appointment) to see if anyone could help solve the problem. Right before this I went to the Hyundai dealership off StateRoad 64 & I - 75 to see their opinion on it. A lady who obviously has NO KNOWLEDGE about vehicles inspected my car and told me they were going to have to take out the WHOLE CENTER CONSOLE to fix the small bend in it, since something is obviously stuck in it. There was nothing stuck and it was a latch issue, but she insisted it wasnt so I left. At A - Z Auto Repair, a mechanic took my vehicle around the back and within 5 minutes came out with it. He fixed the bend and showed me the latch was pushed into the console piece, hence the reason why it wasnt closing. And again, THEY REFUSED PAYMENT. The mechanic said $5 would do (since I persisted), but gave him $20 since thats all I had and they couldnt take my credit card. LOVE THESE PEOPLE!

My Subaru Forester with 52,000 miles was starting to make a humming sound when I was driving. I took it to A-Z Auto Repair, since they had such good reviews on Angies List. A-Z diagnosed the problem and then called to tell me that they contacted the Subaru dealer. Jim at A-Z told me that they found out that it would still be covered under my warranty with Subaru and if I took the car to the dealer the dealer would fix it for free. When I asked them how much I owed them for the work they did on diagnosing the problem, Jim told me there would be no charge - just bring the car back to them if I had any problems in the future. WOW! WHAT HONESTY. A-Z could have fixed it and charged me, but instead they did the right thing. I am very impressed and would definitely take my car back there again.

I was calling around for prices on a CV axle shaft assembly for my vehicle. Not only was A-Z Auto way less pricey then other places, Jim and I must have talked 2 or 3 times before I brought in my vehicle and he took the time to tell me what was to done and made me feel so comfortable with bringing my vehicle in.
