This shop was a great find in Santa Cruz County. We split our time between Santa Cruz and Redwood City and we’re always scrambling when looking for broader services (I grew up in SC and prefer the coast). I was having my Mercedes serviced in RWC but having found IO motors no longer need to go over the hill. Great staff and mechanics. Five stars for me.

They are thorough, prompt, work very well together, and know how to run a family business so people like us can take care of our family’s business.One of the local larger manufacturer service centers couldn’t figure out an issue that we had had for quite some time and kept insisting that the sound was from the new tires. I told them it was there prior to the new tires, but they wouldn’t listen. I brought it to Rodney who diagnosed it and dealt with it immediately. We prefer bringing our vehicle to them, even though Ocean Honda is right around the corner from our house (6 little kids makes it a bit inconvenient). Very professional and friendly service. This was my first time at Io motors and I will definitely be back. I took my 2015 Mazda in for the 60,000 mile maintenance and was pleasantly surprised with the price as it was significantly less than the dealership estimate. Thoughtful careful service done on my Mazda 6 S wagon. Rodent damage addressed and general maintenance items pointed out. Low stress, non pressured approach to costs. Friendly and knowledgable.

My window on my Durango stopped working while driving one day and I came in to have them look at it. They where able to diagnosed and inform me what part needed to be replaced. Unfortunately the part is a special order but after a week I was able to come back and get it repaired even had other work done as well. Felt very satisfied with the work that was done and feel comfortable coming back for any more work that needs to be done.

Now that IO motors has fixed my brakes, I feel completely safe to drive my car. Both Rodney, Barbara and their staff do an excellent job at a fair price. I am a longtime resident of Santa Cruz and would not consider letting anyone else touch my car.

We have been using IO Motors for more than 5 years to service our 1999 Camry, 1990 Ford F250 and until we sold it, our 1994 Mercury Tracer. We have gotten excellent service and repairs that have kept all of our vehicles running and smog legal. They have done numerous repairs above and beyond what most mechanics would do to keep our cars on the road. this has included minor welding, painting and epoxy repair to fix door locks as well as pollution control sensors. In the case of the epoxy repair not replacing the housing and sensors saved us over $600. They are honest reasonably priced and in my opinion as reliable or more so than anyone I have ever had work on my vehicles. I would highly recommend them.

Last week I noticed my check engine light come on for my Hyundai Genesis. There was also some white film on my oil cap, so I was worried it might be a big deal. I called Io on Monday, spoke with Barbara who was very friendly and set me up to bring it in on Wednesday. Wednesday afternoon I get a call from them that they diagnosed the problem as a bad coil, had a tester replacement in, and wanted to get test driving done for it to make sure nothing else was wrong. I agreed. They then called me back this morning letting me know all was well, and after talking through some other minor issues with me they found, I told them I was aware of those, but we agreed no further action was needed at this time. They charged me a very reasonable rate for the work, and the car is back home again this afternoon. All in all, Barbara and Rodney were incredibly friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. We have some struts on my wifes Rav4 that need replacing soon, so were making another appointment with them soon for that work as well. I cant recommend these folks highly enough.
