Giving this whole foods five stars based on the awesomeness of the brewery and juice/coffee bar attached! Upstairs open area with a cool bar, yummy appetizers and a view over the Alameda with its pretty tree lined shops. Also love the meat selection here, pasture raised and reasonably priced.Parking is plentiful. EV parking too.
Update:I have returned to this location several times and have had a much more positive experience with the store and products purchased. The fresh scallops I recently purchased and strawberries were very good. The staff remain very helpful and friendly. Parking is easy and when it gets busy they quickly open additional registers. I also like that they have an Amazon Return counter at the location. I am changing my review from one star to 4 stars.Just moved to the area and this was my first time in the store. The store is clean and the staff are very friendly. I am extremely disappointed in the produce. The avocado we chose looked fine but had several deep dark spots that had to be cut out and the raspberries were mushy. The ones on top looked fine, but below total mush. Makes me wonder if they are keeping produce longer than they should. I recently got significantly better quality organic produce at local Grocery Outlet that was considerably cheaper. I was also disappointed with the prepared food selection, so few options. I think another reviewer commented on this. I expect more of Whole Foods, not sure when well be back again.Interestingly someone replied to my review and asked that I go to a whole foods URL. WHen I got there I had few options to share my feedback except to call and chat. The chat was a complete joke. The person or computer responding made no sense. Ill post the snip below. Even more disappointed with you Whole Foods and not allowing you to take up any more of my time. Changing review from 2 stars to 1 star because of this debacle.
I dont ever spend a great deal of time at this Whole Foods location because its outside my neighborhood. I tend to visit every once in a while because its on the same street as another business I frequent. My overall impression is, it seems so much smaller than the locations Im accustomed to - certainly a great deal smaller than the new Sunnyvale spot. Its well kept, things look fresh, and the staff are great. I just feel a tad bit claustrophobic in here, and I have a hard time finding the things Im accustomed to shopping for here. Some of the items they simply dont carry. The one thing they havent skimped on, however, is booze. I may be misjudging, but I think they have double the selection of stores twice their size.
Large parking lot, ample outdoor seating area, cool brewery upstairs, well stocked, great customer service, wide selection. overall a wonderful experience!! would highly recommend.
Decent hot food bar. Definitely cheaper than SAP Center food.
I’ve been to many Whole Foods in the Bay Area. This location by far has the best layout. Amazing hot food buffet, separate area for juices and drinks to order.Plenty of parking. The fruit and fresh meat and fish have tasted way better than any other grocer. Quality is great. Also has an Amazon locker and Amazon return desk!
Helpful employees. Clean and well stocked store.
Seems like they dont even put an effort in at this store anymore to encourage people to order online. Many of the items on fresh shelves, salads, sandwiches etc, were empty. Overall this store seemed to be sold out on many items... I left without buying anything.
Good store, nice selection for a small store, great small seafood counter. Staff is moderately helpful. Produce is generally not as good as Safeway a few blocks away. The to-go items at the steam tables and the salad bar were very good, and Im hoping they come back. Since I live a couple of blocks away, its main benefit is that its in walking distance, but I cant imagine I would drive to this store if I were further away.
Used to love this Whole Foods, now I avoid it at all costs. Staff was rude and aggressive to an 8 month pregnant woman who can’t wear a mask, asking police to intervene, yet allows homeless to roam into the outdoor dining area. One time a homeless person threw a glass bottle while I was sitting outside eating. It shattered everywhere, my feet were soaked with what ever was in the bottle. Not a single staff member came to talk to me after, no police were ever called. This place needs better management and to stop catering to the lowest common denominator.
Ate some dinner from the salad bar, the food was not good. The bench area outside is nice. Its a better place to just get a beer and slice.
Pretty helpful staff. Asked about Amazon returns and was directed to the other front of the store.Best of all...Amazon returns are hazzle free. Drop it off without packaging and they will do the rest.
Great selection of items. Fresh produce. Has the best milk options. Salmon is always so fresh. Lots of parking and a great location. The workers are always very helpful and friendly. My go to grocery store.
The employees are very helpful. The store is well maintained. The fruit and vegetables offer a great variety. It is great store to shop in.
Great assortment. I particularly like the butcher counter as well as the cheese assortment, and there is plenty of hot and fresh food if youre there for fully made food. Difficult to find parking though!
This whole foods is usually well stocked, clean, and easy to shop in. The staff is helpful. Unfortunately the parking lot is not so easy. Its full during peak shopping times, structured in such a way that drivers back out without realizing people are walking right behind, and at times, carts arent collected often enough which adds to the general disarray. For people who live in nearby apartments (their primary market I suppose) this is all not a problem. For people in cars, its often easier to other nearby stores with adequate parking
I really enjoy shopping at this Whole Foods. Not crowded, and very friendly staff. Good selection of vegan and vegetarian grab and go!
Shelves always stocked, meat counter attentive and will cut meat to order.
Never any drama. Incredibly polite staff. There are bigger stores with more options but the convenience of this location is great!
This location is one of the best. Food and produce are top quality. Lots of KETO PRODUCTS. Very healthy foods not full of sugar and salt and will last in your refrigerator. And the employees are helpful and knowledgeable about their products.
Staff here is helpful, knowledgeable, and great selection but prices still higher than other grocery stores. Theyve improved their offerings in prepped foods since beginning of covid.
I like picking up organic soaps there and lots of other organic foods it is very nice place to go and have lunches have outside tables youve got a great beer garden upstais beer garden upstairs in East Beirut old Chinese fast food years ago before that it was an apricot orchard sell thits portrayed so thats time to change over the years but still its a great place to get some good stuff
Best whole foods market I have been to. Nice design and elevation from outside as well as inside. Its colorful and lively. Its always buzzing with people from The Alameda. There are only few parking spaces here. Just keep looking for cars leaving to find a place. As for the Whole Foods, its always the best place to shop for anything organic and good for earth :)
A favorite place to shop first time back!! Yay and its even better. Lots of great sale delicious food and deserts. So happy to be back there!!
This is the only location willing to make me a fresh quesadilla. Quesadillas taste better fresh, as opposed to buying a cold one and heating it up in a microwave. The other locations I have to order a burrito without rice or beans.:-)
We were very disappointed with the options at the salad and hot food bars. We spent $11 just for roasted vegetables from the hot bar, and they were just about raw and entirely unseasoned.
Really nice location, was visiting from out of town. Very nice staff, great selection. Dont miss out on the juice bar, its outside!
Service is non existence and they dont care. Sad how it has gone from once having wonderful people helping to having to flag employees down n hope someone will do their job. No eye contact, just chit chat amongst their group of black shirts. Who needs this?
Clean and neat neighborhood Whole Foods that carries most of the brands and most importantly the staff are very helpful and trusting. They go out of their way to help out the customers, really great experience today!
Very nice clean store and the staff was so helpful and friendly! Special shout-out to Elizabeth who was super friendly and made some great recommendations on beer!
Good Goog service thank u
The store was clean and well stocked. The selection of items was huge. Some of the prices were pretty high.
All around friendly neighborhood whole foods. One of the smaller ones but you have all your staples. It can get crowded during peak times like all grocery stores and the parking lot is a bit small so i would recommend going during off hours
I know I will find what I need at Whole Foods. The produce is fresh, and the store is clean. And if you need a bag they provide paper bags.
Love this place! Yes, pricey but what whole foods is not? 😁
Super helpful staff. It’s a smaller Whole Foods but has most of the necessities
The Amazon guy was pretty unhelpful with my order. Left disappointed.
Whole foods has an amazing selection of a sorts of groceries, but tends to be pretty pricey. Their selection of sandwiches, sushi, salads, and soups to go are pretty good, but again also more expensive than I expected. The staff were all very helpful, and the parking lot had available spots when I visited lunchtime on a Sunday.
Good selections and they make it very easy to get in and get out with the things you need.
Great store we shop there all the time.
I like the Allegro Roasters in the Whole Foods on Gilman in Berkeley – I think they roast and brew very good coffee. So, having about 45 min to spare at Amtrak in San Jose I decided to nip across Alameda Street to Whole Foods for a pick-me-up. Tons of seating, both sunny and shady; the café / juice bar is small but cheerful; staff members were friendly. I had a batch-brew coffee and then returned two minutes later for a donut. Kind of silly to buy a donut from them for $3 when you can pop into the main WF store ten steps away and pick up something for half the price. Both the coffee and donut were good – would welcome pastries from a local bakery (the Gilman café has pastries from Firebrand bakery in Oakland). They select good beans and roast them well, giving them a lighter roast but not totally blond. In addition to the normal rating, I’m also giving this Whole Foods café 4/5 green stars for social and environmental impact.Allegro coffee has pretty good purchasing standards – in 2014, 23% of the coffee was Fair Trade certified, 50% was organic, 29% was Rainforest Alliance certified, and 2% was Smithsonian songbird-friendly certified. I know that coffee can be responsibly sourced without the need for certifications, as long as there’s transparency, and I feel that where Allegro could to do a better job. For example, Counter Culture Coffee publishes the prices they pay for coffee and share extensive information on their relationship with individual farms. Better, more current, reporting would be appreciated.Whole Foods does a good job at waste minimization (clearly labeled bins for composting and recycling) and most materials are eco-friendly, but their coffee cup lids are not compostable. Their regular milk is Clover Organic. One bonus is that you can eat anything that you pick up in Whole Foods (or make yourself), so you can find food that suits your needs to go with your coffee. In general, Whole Foods is recognized as a decent employer that provides good benefits and environment for staff.Find out more about green-star ratings at Green Stars Project dot org.
My weekend routine was to visit this grocery shop to buy some stuff for my house. I like how organized this grocery shop was. The deli, cheese, produce products were well-organized. The floors were so clean and neat. The whole store smells so good. The staves were very helpful and accommodating as well.
Nice Whole Foods location with unique design. Looks impressively unusual from outside especially in the evening when it is dark. The staff is helpful and friendly, easy to find they helped to find what you need.As usual for Whole Foods there is great selection of fresh produce, cheese, meat, and bread. Unlike some other locations they dont have roast date stamped on coffee though. The parking is bit small but still there are few spaces usually.
I love this store they always have a great selection of products!
Great location. Also supports Amazon returns.
Nice store. Good selection. Friendly staff.
Typical whole foods. Usually has everything stocked up so I always get what I came for.
Disappointed they dont have just eggs liquid
Would give 5 stars but this is almost like a whole foods express or something - its really small
Great place to do your groceries, fast cashier.
Very helpful staff..clean
Good place to buy food...
Everything and anything you need can find here
Today, I thought I would be there forever because the checkout line was so long. But it moved really fast! They had a live person directing traffic, telling you where to go, asking if you wanted to use the self-checkout. All the checkout stations were open and with a self-service ones open too, it was less than 10 minutes in line. Awesome!
One of the only Whole Foods that carries Pistachio Mochi again hallelujah!!!!!!!! This Whole Foods is clean and crowded but I guess that’s for a reason right ? Parking can be a hassle but it really depends on when you go
I was really disappointed. Poor quality and over priced. The Trader is still #1!
A few more people in the store, but everyone maintaining social distancing. Store is a little small for the full range of products. For particular items, I go to the Bascom store.
Always filled with great and helpful staff, and usually has a decent selection
I really wish I knew how to order a pizza from here. There is no info of the pizza directory (it is #7 btw) and there is no menu posted on their Google page or website. Customer service sometimes picks up when you call. We ordered the tomato basil and cheese. I dont know if it normally comes without sauce (the menu wasnt working in the store) but it was so gross with just the cheese, tomato slices, and flakes of basil. It would have been so much better with either a red or white sauce.. Thankfully the other half was pepperoni and we ate that instead
Their tap room is amazing! The best vibes and the best views.
Went to buy a cake. Pleasant conversation with the clerk to get a recommendation.
Placed a delivery order about 12h in advance thru Amazon. 30 min *after the end* of the 2h delivery window the order gets canceled on their side. Successfully spoiled Sunday breakfast and lunch in one shot. Well done.
Beautiful and clean Whole Foods. Evan does not seem stoked to work there though.
Love the food here 😇💜👌
Excellent Service (Catering)Friday 25th went to the store to pick up my catering order. There was a glitch and the order wasnt prepared. Why the 5 stars?Because, the catering team member Sandra stepped up and went above and beyond. Within 5 minutes we crafted alternate party trays, menus, items. She offered to deliver as I could not stay in the store and wait. She quickly assembled these trays- they looked gorgeous.DELIVERED to my home in time for my party.*In addition, the Whole Foods catering truck wouldnt start. She walked to our home, carting our party platters 5+ blocks. This started out as a disappointing experience, but SANDRA saved my order and boosted my experience of their catering department and team/partnership ethics.
Amazon returns center.Fast and easy
Good selection of healthy food and good service!!
These guys are no longer cleaning carts etc and more than one stated they didnt have enough employee. All two different times I went for trout but I only had the mote expensive items
I reccomend the enormous amount of delicous choices at the deli counter, on top of an awesome level of custumer
I enjoy their chicken drumsticks
We liked this grocery store and appreciated the excitement and fun selection of food stores.
Always great customer service. Extremely professional and helpful during the pandemic. Appreciate each and every person who works there.
Legit. They sustain the majority of my dietary needs.
Still excellent fast reliable service.
They didn’t let me use my burrito card that I’ve been saving
I like Whole Foods Market because some of the items that you can get are not available elsewhere like various Artisan breads. However, you should check prices because they can be more pricey than other places.
I always get pretty good service here. Clean place, the burritos bar is pretty good. I recently got a delicious birthday cake from here.
Going up to 4.5 stars on this Whole foods review, they have self serve mochi out a freezer and its really sweet. The salad bar is pretty legit, I Iike bitter greens that turn my face inside out. Lol.They have a funny little carousel to make your own orange juice. Ive never seen that before thats new..... The a p discount for pizza is pretty good. The pizza is thin and crispy with a nice crunch. Its almost too healthy, but with a small salad I cant complain. This is a good place to get some work done in the morning, just sit away from the sidewalk, when the city bus comes by, it kicks up all the dirt from the street!!*update_Amazing health food for the broke creative in me.
During non-COVID times this place is PACKED for lunch because their hot bar is so good!!!!!! I wonder if well ever see those days again...I come here for the fish market and the gluten free snacks. They have a lot of hard kombucha but no gluten free beer. I wish they carried Tin City cider. The wine selection needs work and the produce area is mediocre.
Good stuff. Little over rated in my opinion but I see the attraction for people. Just too expensive.
Why eat sweets when you can eat a banana from Whole Foods! Definitely a fresh and different shopping experience.
This place is phenomenal. Initially I was skeptical when someone recommended that I try the carrot cake at Whole Foods, expecting to be underwhelmed by the food at a typical health foods grocery store. I was wrong. I strolled upon this tastefully decorated and modern Whole Foods today and decided to check it out for lunch. Given the vast amount of choices between fresh sandwiches, deli items, and self-serve section, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety offered by this grocery store chain. I decided to go with the self-serve section where I was able to try everything from Chicken Tikka to classic Homemade Macaroni and Cheese. Everything was absolutely delicious. Finally, the coveted carrot cake, prepared as a simple slice in a plastic container, was by far the most outstanding dessert I’ve had in San Jose. The carrot cake was fresh and moist, aesthetically pleasing to the eye, and filled with rich layers of dimensionality to its flavor. I can now see why it was recommended, because Whole Foods is a hidden gem and deserves the highest accolades for its elevated cuisine amongst the competitive scene of grocery store fine dining.
Had exactly what we were looking for. Employees were all masked and helpful. While the checkout line seemed longer than previous trips, employees did a solid job routing people to self checkout when applicable to keep the line moving.
Customer service provided by Brenda @ Deli was excellent food taste was 5 out of 10Dessert was great!Same as customer service at bakery
Theyre doing really well with covid considerations. They also are selling $70 5-6 foot trees outside the front, and some wreaths and stuff.
Excellent deli
This whole foods is massive..and OPEN LATE. After going to the Shark Tank for a game with Pops, all we had to eat at the game was a Hot Dog and soda. I was starving, I couldnt drive home on a empty stomach. Whole Foods saved me that night. Put some food in my belly, and hit the road.
No snikers! :( Fruit and vegetables are very expensive. What I like - fresh orange juice machine. Meat is rather good there. You can find some gluten free food - cookies, pastry. There are a lot of different fish and seafood to chose.
The store is organized and efficient getting everyone in and out safely. Masks are required at the moment, but Ive seen them hand out to people that didnt have them. The employees here are always very courteous and professional, even under these stressful times. I really appreciate having this store close by and the hard work of everyone that makes it happen.
