Clean, huge selection, reasonably priced. Staff is very helpful. Butcher section offers to help cutting meat for you when they are not too busy. Live oyster is delicious. Leafy greens are the best here, everything is so fresh and there is a huge variety.

Its pretty decent. It has quite a variety of items, mostly Asian stuff. Theyre also priced wonderfully lower than most American brands. That being said, the place is very cramped. The aisles are very claustrophobic. The staff also barely speaks English. In fact, most do not speak English at all, making it even harder to ask questions. Ive been there about three to four times, and the staff are definitely not friendly (thats the best way I can describe without using negative connotation word). Places like Safeway or Walmart have properly trained their staff to be polite, attentive, and smile. None of these seem to matter for these staff. Overall, if $$$ is all you care, then go for it. You need to, however, understand that the customer service is basically nonexistent (borderline F).

Great place for VERY authentic Asian groceries! They have a parking lot in the back of the store and across the street. They sell plants, plant pots, fruits and veggies, kitchenware, fish/meat, canned section, and bulk sectionEverything is very cheap! I went around 2pm on a Saturday and it was pretty crowded. Very close to campus ( walking distance). They have bulk soy sauce, white agar boba, regular boba, juice flavor, coffee and rainbow jelly, etc.

This typical Asian supermarket offers fresh produce, meats, spices and kitchenwares of Vietnamese/SE Asian and Chinese tastes, although variety is not as expansive as some other giant Asian supermarkets due to the small, urban real estate. Despite the small size, there were plenty of parking spaces here, including the stores dedicated lot and surroundings streets. Customer service was surprisingly good, if you speak the langua franca, Vietnamese. Finally, the price$ is right at Dai Thanh, compared to the astronomic sum at other places in the Bay. Heard/hope that itll soon move to a new, larger location near where I lived. As a new east coast transplant, this will be my go-to Asian grocery specialty market.

Typical Asian vietnamese style market w/ all the necessity. Butchers doing their job to accommodate your style cuts of meats to cleaning and preparing seafood. Veggies is fresh. Crab (when is in season) definitely cheaper than your ranch 99 market. Park across the street from their store, @ 2nd parking spot due to their main parking lot is always pack and people cant drive.

Beware of the multiple charges on your receipt. I bought 3 frozen coconut juice. Went home and found that they charged me for 30 of them instead, which was insane. I called them up and they told me they will figure it out. Took a while before they refunded me for the price of 3.I would never come to this market again nor recommend it. But if this is the only market you can go to, ALWAYS KEEP YOUR RECEIPT to check if they’re gonna double charge you like they did to me.

On 1/28/2021, I was at Dai Thanh to shop for some groceries. I also wanted to report 3 items of theirs.1) The durian that connected with sticks to make them have ice-cream look: I report the bitter taste that maybe from the chemical that used for the sticks. There was no saying sorry, no sympathy from the manager for the customer who had had experience with their product.2) The fish paste: After I cooked the fish paste and ate most of it, I saw a blue rubber band in the rest still gluing in it. No saying sorry or sympathy from the manager.3) The orange chili pepper: I reported that my child didnt know it was so spicy because they looked just like the kind Trader Joe sells. The manager expressed no empathy for what a child a had to experience. All I had to hear was Chilies are chilies, chilies are spicy.I didnt go their to leave them a bad complaint, I only wanted to let them know so they can improve whatever possible. However, the manager reaction was very rude. She raised her voice at me. After we were done with our conversation, this manager chatted to a customer to make me look bad.Do I have to think that they feel so comfortable because there are many Vietnamese customers who go there because they have to. Why should I not be able to report when something is wrong? Should I stay silent just because I dont want to look bad when the staff dont bother speaking loudly so theres a chance that I will look bad?Why does somebody have to be rude just because she needs to hear reports about her products?

The parking next to grocery is limited and when its full, its hard to maneuver just to get out. I recommend parking across the street. The aisles inside the stores are narrow when I have a cart with me. Most customers dont practice safety distance here because its a small place. I came here for the condiments and for some Asian herbs. The fresh fish and meat section has some foul odor, typically odor at most small Asian grocery I went to. I would come again when Im nearby for some Asian veggies and herbs. And this is the place where I got a huge bag of rice at the beginning of SIP for 37$, just to notice that its a few dollars cheaper at Costco. But Costco doesnt have the brand I like, Three Ladies.

Awesome little market tucked away in downtown San Jose. They have your usual Asian market goods on smaller scale, and also some of their own goods, like their really awesome croissants, French bread, and desserts. CHECK YOUR CHANGEIts the usual ethnic market with cheap vegetables in lots of plastic packaging and many dry goods from Asia. Thats all fine, except for the excessive packaging. Check out the origin of what you buy, though---why import fresh mushrooms from China when other Asian markets dont do that.So heres why the 1 star: I gave the cashier a $20 ---even saying out of a $20 as I do when I hand over a large bill--for a $7 purchase. She gave me change for a $10. When I brought this up, she deferred to another clerk (because most of the cashiers do not speak English), who had the owners husband come over and tell me they would watch the security camera footage to see what I gave the cashier. They had me wait 20 minutes.Look at the location of the cameras---do you think they could pick up the numbers on a bill?I was ultimately told I gave the cashier a $10.I did not.The owner kept talking over me when I told her the story of the transaction. She said she checked the till at the end of the day for a $10 excess----but she only thought to say that when I brought it up.Another customer told the same story on Yelp.I think the cashiers dont know US money well, but the owners know they have the ultimate say.I know its only $10, but I dont like the way they treated me and I dont believe they saw a $10 bill on their far-away cameras. And I know I gave her a $20 and told her I was giving her a twenty.

I am still in disbelief, i keep thinking she is at the reg and then i rememeber. Its odd that it always reoccurs when i visit there to which not often as i moved !
