Before the 2020 pandemic I had not shopped at Ashbury Market for many years, but its been really nice to have them here now. Since I dont go food shopping as often anymore - sometimes in between a big shop, I just need one or 2 things, and its convenient to have them close by. Quite a big selection in a tiny place, although not much in the way of fresh produce. Very friendly staff
Perfect lil store
This is our go to local market. Dale and his family have done an amazing job keeping it stocked during the pandemic, always welcome you when you come in and take requests if they don’t carry something you want. They’ve gone above and beyond to keep the neighborhood fed and they bring such a warm family atmosphere to the neighborhood. Love this store
Nice store, looks new, good product line ups, cool owners!
Never been to a corner store that doesnt carry pbr, rolling rock or any of the cheap options. Catering to ashbury heights but come on
Very considerate owner- always treats me like gold.
Very polite employees.well stocked deli. Organic food choices. Food was very fresh. Inventory well kept. I suggest shopping here to anyone who is able to afford quality foods and service.
Fresh delightful, always leave with a smile on my face and laughter in the heart, a place where everybody knows ur name, pet friendly, a touch high, but then so is all convenience or neighborhood stores, they even put my favorite Rocky Road Candy on shelf, dang how many places does that anymore??? not many places left that are people friendly like here, and where the customer is 99.9 correct, have fun shopping or to just say hello
Its a pretty eclectic place to shop, it has a deli thats pretty well stocked, some pretty good produce, a huge selection of natural sodas and stuff. But you would think that it would be cheaper in the hate for all the wannabe hippies out there still wandering around, but no its just as expensive as everywhere else in San Francisco if not more. Thats why I can only give it 4 stars instead of 5 cuz its just a little bit above Safeway the other shopping centers that are cheaper to get your food on.
Update Sep 19: The store is under new ownership and the selection of items is much better! Still a little expensive but overall a great corner store.-----------------Nice staff but the shelves are always empty. Really never seen a corner store with less selection and more wasted space.
Convenient and friendly.Dog treats and water bowl.Credit card, 🍎 pay, $5/minOrganic, grains, ice cream, munchies and improving wine selection & spirits.
Great place to pick up a sandwich and refreshments on the go..
Amazing place. Staff are nice and they give dogs treats! Would definitely recommend
Standard corner store. Everything double the normal price. $5 minimum for credit card. Good for a close snack.
Great little neighborhood market. Very clean and friendly staff
The bread pudding is to die for, great coffee as well.
Very nice store but SUPER expensive!
Great service always
Good place to stop if you have some simple basic items you need while visiting Ashbury Heights
Great and convenient place, little pricy though. ORGANIC
Generally not open when they say theyre open. Hours incorrect on sign and on Google
Very convenient neighborhood store with friendly staff.
Stopped in to grab some snacks and the lady at the counter was very friendly. She told me about some hidden gems to visit while Im here.
Friendly staff, good bagel sandwiches, OK coffee.
This place has gone downhill recently as ownership has transferred. Unreliable selection, sometimes randomly closed, credit machine has been down for months and ATM also broken. Hope they turn it around.
I recently moved to Clayton St, just around the corner from this market. I had been in once before to check out the deli counter, though they were closed for the evening. The menu looked good, so I figured that I would be back to give it a try.I headed over today around lunch time to begin, what I hoped, would be a long relationship involving many quick, hungry jaunts around the corner. When I arrived I carefully inspected the menu. A line on the menu board suggested the addition of avocado to my sandwich or a side of french fries for $.99. A line below that, centered and in bold italics, roughly read, All sandwiches come with a side of spring mix. I ordered a chicken breast, fresh mozzarella, tomato, red onion and pesto sandwich on ciabatta bread with french fries. I paid for the sandwich and the additional $.99 for the fries.I had planned on getting my food to go, but the weather was nice, so I decided to eat my sandwich by the window. When I picked up my sandwich from the counter, there were fries on the plate, but the spring mix was absent. When I enquired about the spring mix, I was informed that I had received fries instead. I replied that the sign clearly states that all sandwiches come with a side of spring mix and that fries, which I paid for, are extra. I was argumentatively informed that I was wrong about being entitled to a side of spring mix. I replied that the sign should reflect this and sat down to make an attempt at enjoying my meal. I was unable and asked for my sandwich and fries to be prepared to go.I will not be making the Ashbury Market a regular lunch spot. In fact, I plan on never setting foot there again. This is additionally a disappointment, because they have a nice little wine shop, which would be so convenient for grabbing a quick bottle for dinner parties. My questions to the owners of this market are these: When did it become acceptable to argue with customers, especially when they are in the right? Do you realize that due to your location, nearly all of your customers will be from the immediate neighborhood and must be treated with courtesy if they are expected to return?Lastly, a hint at the answer to the latter and a portent. Tourists and San Franciscans from other parts of town will not be trudging up from Cole Valley and Haight St to patronize your market. Without neighborhood business, your market will fail.
Convienient location for the neighborhood with a friendly staff and good basics grocery-wise, but expensive and unreliable. Says they open at 8 but thats more of a loose pattern than a rule.
Common corner store but no public restrooms
Just bought chocolate that was 3 and a half months past expiration... Waste of $4 because I am not eating it. Looks gross.
Great little market.
One of the staff is very discourteous.
Nice store
Great place to buy Ojos de Toro wines
