I love Rare Device so much. So many of my favorite artists have goods at Rare Device. I really think this is one of those shops where you can find a little gift for anyone. They have so many unique things for sale. Beautiful home wares, cheeky gifts, stationary, PLANTS!!! Pop in and see what you find here.

Overpriced, fragile jewelry. DO NOT BUY!I bought these earrings yesterday for $76 plus tax. I was super excited to wear them for an interview the next day, but before I could, they fell on the ground while still in the box (with padding they provided) and broken in half. Rare devices would not replace the pair or offer a refund, but called the artist who wanted $35 to replace the ONE earring. They offered to let me talk to artist but what good would do?Honestly, if this is the quality of craftsmanship that this store stocks, then I wont by buying from here anymore. Its a shame, they have some cute stuff. :(The Jewelry artist is Four Eyes Ceramics.

I LOVE this store! Im a card junkie. They have the most fun, unique hilarious cards. I go whenever Im on Divis. Also, the ladies at the front counter are delightful and will engage in conversations if you want. That doesnt usually happen at some nicer shops. So sweet and welcoming! They have beautiful hand crafted ceramics that would make terrific gifts.

I would like to commend this business on their selection of diverse childrens books! It is often difficult to find kiddie lit that features people of different cultures, ethnicities, etc. Rare Device doesnt have a huge range of kids books, but what they do have is absolutely stellar!The rest of the shop is exceedingly beautiful and the staff is friendly and engaging. Highly recommend!

Rare Device is my new favorite store to pick up gifts for friends...and myself!They have an amazing supply of designer housewares (beautiful glass Japanese carafes, hand made plates and bowls), as well as office supplies, unique stationary, art books, and cute jewelry. Tucked among the merchandise is original artwork- paintings on the wall, prints leaning on shelves, boxes filled with affordable multiples, and a rotating gallery in the annex.

Fantastic little gift shop close to the Painted Ladies. I really loved the art prints made by local artists.

Really sweet little shop with a lovely vibe, friendly staff and nice music. Importantly, its full of a mixture of lots of necessary (and less necessary) goods from around the US, and a bunch from CA. Its fairly expensive but a joy to look around. Find cards, gifts, bike bells, bags, jewellery and grooming bits and bobs. A few of them youd be able to find in other SF shops, though this place is one of my favourites to get them in.

Selection is always super interesting and fresh. Great integration of art from local artists into the gallery space. Kids section is small but always well curated with unique toys, books, and gifts

I love this little shop, with its SF-themed posters and Little Otsu greeting cards. Its on a great stretch of Divisadero, not far from the new Bi Rite and The Mill. I always stop in when I need a gift. The wares are local, but not exclusive to this shop, though they feel that way and your recipient will be touched with the uniqueness of the gift. Bonus: the sales people are nice.

I love this store! Beautifully curated, you can definitely get lost in the fun designs they carry. Jewelry, books, agendas, kids clothes, watches, household things. If youre in the area you should definitely wander in.

Quaint local business that carries uniquely San Franciscoan items one doesnt know they needed. Love the house fragrance they produce with a local collaborator. Not cheap. Rare devices are rarely on sale.

Cant believe I havent reviewed Rare Device until now!I can spend hours at this store, which has everything that I love, from unique cards to art to books to local and handmade gifts. This place has SF screaming all over it!Be sure to look in the back section for the baby and kids stuff, from childrens books to onesies and sweaters.The other night, I popped into just look and nearly $90 later, I walked away with birthday cards and gifts (holiday, too).Need to find a unique and fun, Rare Device is your store. Quality stuff is sold here, and nothing less.
