Great O-toro nigiri, simple soba that satisfies, and excellent customer service.Nice, homey feel.
Been eating here since Tommy the chef took over. Love the sushi
Delicious and professional sushi, made by a guy who left a previous establishment I frequented, and just as good. Nice food, all for a relatively cheap price. And no quality was sacrificed. You get experience and affordability. And of course I love the complementary candies :)
The best neighborhood sushi! Owners are SO nice. They always go above and beyond to make you feel like family. Order from here, don’t think twice.
Hey theyre open for dinner again to eat inside. You have to call them for reservations, which is not well communicated.
Love chirashi don!
Coming here for decades but now only. Takeout. Very good food and fair prices.
Hello Im monica I need to contact with Chavez Ezequiel
Always a good value, Tanuki serves premium Japanese food. Friendly, efficient service, creative sushi bar, excellent standard cooked fare! One of our favorites!
Nice place with a wide range of really good food. Can be a bit noisy sometimes and they do have an old TV that could be a distraction (or a selling point I suppose). The Giants game was on when we were there last time.
We ordered varieties of sashimi and cooked rolls, everything was delicious. Staffs were extremely friendly, however, parking is somewhat to find. I think we circled around the block for 20 minutes. I would definitely come back again.
Neighborhood sushi restaurant that serves amazing and fresh fish. Amaebi and Toro tuna are must-haves. Will come back again and give it a try yourself 🍙🍣🎏🐟🐠🌈😃
Nice and quiet small restaurant. Great food and service. Had teriyaki dinner and it included miso, salad, and rice.
The staff is friendly and service is quick. However, the dragon rolls and bamboo rolls were not that good. Also, this place is shown on the map as an average-priced restaurant. The restaurant setting and the food are average. But the price turns out almost the same as if you go to a high end sushi bar.
One of the best around. He’s been mastering his art for decades. Now has his own restaurant and the sushi and the service is very good.
Love this place! Best not yet discovered/local sushi spot in the city
Great place with sushi chef/owner Tom.
If your desire is a relaxed Japanese restaurant with a casual vibe, I would suggest you make efforts to get in to eat here. One of a kind with a good vibe and delicious options of Japanese delicacy.
Our regular second spot for sushi and other Japanese delicacies when the best sushi place in the city is either closed or booked (Okina).
Wow - surprise, surprise... amazing quality, incredibly clean this place is a jewel. Even the take-out is meticulous prepared. They even slice and pickle their own ginger. Jiro would be proud ;)
Amazing sashimi- cuts were generous and so fresh! Everything else was great too- delicious udon and perfectly steamed chawanmushi. Really nice neighborhood place. The staff gave us complimentary oranges (most delicious orange I have ever had) and ice cream after our meal.
Worst customer service. Especially the owner looking Japanese lady.
One of my favorite get downs in the area. Its a but more pricey then a cheap sushi spot but the specials they have are good and the fish has always been a great level.
Best sushi I have ever had. Small mom and pop place. Unbelievable sashimi.
First time there enjoyed it.
Love the place-here many times and more -
Neighborhood restaurant with authentic Japanese food.Sushi is fresh and taste like the sushi in Japan.Other dishes are also very tasty.
The sushi was nice however the teriyaki rice isnt what Id call traditional. Presentation is also quite western and I see why but the sushi here is great.
Really expansive menu covering just about all Japanese options. The sashimi was very fresh, some of the best Ive had in the city - will go back
My parents have been going here since before my mom was pregnant with me! We love Aki, the sushi chef. He knows everyone in the neighborhood and always makes the best, freshest sushi in the Richmond!
Got fried chicken teriyaki and it was fantastic. Boyfriend got sushi and we mulled over the modern political state of our country over green tea ice cream and some coca cola.
The freshest sushi. Great staff.
They have the best chicken teriyaki. A special neighborhood restaurant.
We come here weekly. Mike and Scott are fantastic. Love this place.
Stopped by for a quick bite before closure on a Friday night. Seems like a place that the locals frequent. Not pretentious. Good, cheerful service. The avocado rolls had generous amounts of excellent avocado, and shiitake nigiri were an interesting find, design-wise (ok tasting, too).
Always delicious sushi. Yummy!
This is a cozy neighborhood spot for sushi in the inner Richmond. The lunch specials are great, service is excellent and always easy to get a table or sit at the bar. My coworkers and I come here almost once a week and are never disappointed. The sushi chef is always on his game and doesnt try too hard to get real crazy. The place is kind of hard to see from California if youre in a car, especially if the busses are parked at the stop at 6th Ave. Even on foot I sometimes walk right past the door until I see the big window, we come from our office on 8th Ave.
My go-to place for great Japanese food for over 20 years.
Authentic low key good sushi
Awesome lunch specials. Good food
Ate here kind of late, staff was great and it was the 1st terryaki (sp) Ive ever had in the US that tasted like in Japan!
Super Fast, Really good and fresh, extremely hard working friendly staff
Top notch sushi, great service.
Great sushi and service.
Pretty tasty sushi at a good price.
Excellent food, attentive friendly service.
It feels a bit pricy, but its definitely worth it.Tanin Udon soup was flavorful and sushi were just great.
The best place ever!
Nice little sushi spot with good food and good prices, what else do you need?
Authentic sushi restaurant. Great quality and friendly staff.
Service is always great and their Sashimi is always fresh!
Ok sushi, kind of pricey
Friendly, simply wonderful authentic fresh sushi.
Great authentic japanese cooking!
My goto sushi restaurant. Nothing fancy just good sushi
Good food.
My go-to place for nigiri or chirashi.
Very good quality fish
The veggie tempura not worth the price some of the veggies are sliced too thin n too soft
Iffy food and spotty service.
Fantastic Japanese restaurant!
