Just wanted to say thank you to your team for helping me with my huge work event along with a personal birthday. Everything is always so good and addicting! All my coworkers were very impressed (especially the executives) with the sample pack of macarons we gave out for the luncheon. And to the employee that helped me figure out how to tie a bow without ruining the cake, thank you a ton! With your inspiration, I was able to get the macaron tower put together with a princess cake on top!
After completely cutting sugar out of my life for an entire month, as my birthday approached I asked myself what would be the one thing worth breaking my sugar fast for. The answer was Chantal Guillon. I drove all the way from the Eastbay just to pick up my birthday macarons. Whether for two cookies, six cookies or a dozen, I would do it again and again. Each cookie is a work of art. Exceptional quality and delighful flavors will keep you coming back, and the super friendly staff will make you feel welcome. Every purchase is prepared and presented with care and flare. I cant say enough great things about this little shop.
Overall enjoyed this place, beautiful interior, the staff was super helpful and friendly. The prices were a little steep on the pastry side, but macaroons were well priced. Macaroons are my favorite dessert, these were well cooked, not doughy inside, lots of variety, but I felt they could have gone stronger on the flavor. For some of them it was barely detectable above the general sweetness.I took these to a client meeting, to great reception.
Open for delivery and pickup. A bulk order of 24 macarons of the same flavor is on sale for a discounted price of $30! (vs. $68.40 regular price). My friends and I ordered 6 total, and divided the flavors amongst ourselves to get 2 dozen assorted macarons. Just call their phone number when you arrive and they will come out with your order. We got almond amaretto, crème brûlée, dark chocolate, matcha lychee, and raspberry rose lychee. They are little edible works of art. Each one is beautifully decorated, and they all taste as delicious as they look.
This is easily the best macaroon place in town! Always extra fresh, taste amazing and great variety of flavors. Add to this excellent service that always comes with a smile and you get a perfect spot to satisfy your sweet tooth! Also, no matter which of their locations you go to, you always get same quality and service - this is a huge plus!
Best macarons in SF!
So many choices for easy gift options
Cute macarons and kind staff. Pricey.
First time eating here. The Parisian Baguette is very good. Wish it included more than one very thinly sliced piece of cheese. Really 1 slice of cheese? Wanted to order a dessert, but there was a fly enjoying itself on it.
Some of the best quality for French desserts. The place itself isnt very well decorated or welcoming, however you do get the food quality youre looking for. Expensive as well but its worth it. Only putting 4 because they didnt out the feve figurine in the 2 frangipane cakes that I ordered which normally have them.
I get it. The almond croissant is special, crunchy, caramelized, plenty of filling inside. Its very filling. Goes well with coffee. All you need is a beach chair overlooking the ocean, you are all set for the morning. Everything they have looks wonderful. Perhaps I can go there every day till I try everyone of their pastries, ummm, to be continued...
Friendly staff...Bakery on site so pastries are fresh all the time throughout the day. More than just a bakery...They have a decent size menu. Perfect for lunch or catching up with colleagues. Spacious floor plan.
I love this place!! Not only are the macaroons amazing (they have seasonal flavors so there is always a new one to try!) but their lunch is great too. They also serve afternoon tea.
Did you know you can have breakfast until 3pm and a scrumptious lunch menu in addition to their mouthwatering macarons? Delightfully quiet oasis in a bustling SOMA/Civic Center location.
Wonderful pastries, polite, respectful, helpful staff, only complaint, could certainly have chosen a better area, perhaps more conducive to a family type experience / enviornment.
Brilliant! Excellent lunch. Had the ham on baguette followed by pastry dessert. Ham was perfectly salted and baguette was super fresh.
The macarons are exquisite. They couldnt be fresher and melt in your mouth with an impressive amount of flavor. Chantal Guillon also offers a very nice selection of small foods, wines and teas. Worth the price.
Disclaimer- Im just a normie and not a macaron foodie (... MACARONIE! heh).I tried a 6-pack of pretty maca-snacks. Earl Grey (t), Salted Caramel, Dark Chocolate, Orange Blossom (t), Raspberry Lychee, and... I think Almond Amaretto? Cant quite remember if that was the last one.Note that the tea flavors (t) cost a bit extra :(. To my great surprise, Salted Caramel ended up being my favorite of the set. I usually dislike most versions of Salted Caramel things due to overly sticky sweetness, but it was really quite yummy here in their macaron version! You get just an addictive whiff of the burnt sugar- not excessively sweet nor sticky at all. I would pass on the Earl Grey. The Raspberry Lychee just tastes like Raspberry; at tasting time I didnt even recall it having lychee. That said, I generally found their prices too high and the flavors too intense, both of which I wasnt too stoked about. Case in point, my Earl Grey ended up tasting like the blue Fruit Loop (cereal). I kid you not. My buddy agrees with me here. Most of the other flavors were quite sweet as well.A+ for texture though! This spot definitely has that delicate flaky-chewy macaron shell down pat.Chantal Guillon also gets brownie points for being spacious, free WiFi, and being one of the only sweet shops in the immediate neighborhood.
If I was writing this review when they first opened years ago, then it would have been a 5/5 based on their food. They were still working out some kinks when they first opened but their food was divine. They had these scrumptious mini sandwiches (not sure why they got rid of them) and the most amazing chanterelle mushroom soup I had ever tasted. Over the years their menu has changed a lot but still good. Also, their macarons have always been good even to this day. I went here for years but moved some years back and stopped going. My recent experience is about a year ago. I was so excited to go back after a couple years but was so disappointed with the food & service. I ordered a mushroom soup that was so bland & tasteless. I rarely send food back but I had to complain & the employee said a lot of people had complained about the soup that day. So why still serve it then? Anyways, I would definitely go back to buy some macarons but would be hesitant to try their savory foot again.
Happened upon this place whist walking through the mission district. We were looking for a little snack and a respite from the heat. Chantal gave us a little snack, but no AC kept us sizzling. Hard to knock. A place in SF for no AC, I think we just happen to be there on a record heat day.We ordered a couple of salads. Both were tasty. We also had a mix of macarons. The creme brulee macaron was by far the best. And seriously the best macaron I have ever had anywhere.
Lovely decor and unique macaron flavors. Took my french club on a french bakery walking tour with Chantal Guillon as one of the stops. Loved everything passion fruit flavored!
Nice quiet spot to snag a gelato
Baked goods and food are always fantastic. Three stars because I was being asked specifically about coffee. My drink was very very bitter and acidic.
Fantastic place, good selection, reasonable prices and extra-ordinary services!!
One of the better gelatos Ive had in bay area. Tried a medium gelato with two flavors, orange blossom and passion fruit. The quantity was enormous for the price ($4.50) and the service was top notch. Place looked hip and modern. Overall a good spot for casual dates.
Trendy place with a little attitude towards its residential neighbors. Metered parking in front of the retail outlet.
A little slice of France in San Francisco- the macarons are delicious and so beautifully flavored and decorated. Having an outlet for Mariage Frères tea is a joy as well.
Ive been to their Hayes Valley location and wondered about the cafe. I was skeptical at first, but Ive had lunch here multiple times now and all their food is delicious. Their macarons are, of course, lovely and I lust after them all the time haha. But their quiches, salads, soups, and sandwiches are also great. The customer service is good and the space feels open and bright. Its a great lunch or tea spot.
Such a beautiful shop! The food is really good. I had the pate dish and it was fantastic.
Nice variety of sweets to chose from and the quality is there.
The macarons are very good, but also very pricey. This makes a wonderful gift, however. Also, the ice cream stuffed macarons are simply amazing. Get them with some coffee.
Dont care for their macaroons (not that flavorful) but the pastries are flaky and wonderful. They have a large selection of coffees and teas and great service.
I am all about fresh and hand made.this place is out of control.Everything is made in house.I mean who makes their own almond paste
We brought our daughter in this place bc she saw it on tv.. The service a staff was amazing. Definitely recommend this place. Well worth the drive from Vallejo,CA but originally from Wyoming
Service was great and the baked goods was tasty.
Unbelievably tasty. The service is fantastic and the macarons are out of this world.
Omg you have got to try the salted caramel & red velvet macaroons.
Great macaroons and de-lish french bistro-like menu. Fine eggs Benedict with perfect Hollandaise.
This is the only Chantal Guillon place that has cakes and pastries afaik, in addition to their great macaroons. They are also the only place I know in the city for getting Mariage Freres teas. A patisserie I love to visit every time I’m in the area.
Found this place on Yelp, and had to check it out while visiting SF a couple weeks ago. I love these hole in the wall type of places. You order in the front, then sit down and they bring out your food. I had studied the menu before walking in, which I always try to do, because Im super indecisive. I got the California Burrito, and it was amazing. A generous portion for less than $10 in SF. I loved the hot crispy tater tots in the burrito along with all the flavors of everything in the burrito. After trying my BFs bulgogi taco, I kinda wished I had gotten the bulgogi instead of the steak that came with the burrito-Ill do that if Im able to come to this place again. Writing this review is making me crave the burrito, it was oh so delicious! My bf loved his taco sample plate.
OMG! Melt in your mouth macarons (not sharing after all)!
Awesome macaron! Maybe the best in SF.
Never disappointed. Love the salmon tartine!
Sweet Lord how I wish this place was open even till just 1pm on Sundays lol incredible food and Im disappointed every Sunday lol I bet they would absolutely SLAY brunch.
Great french style baguette sandwiches with yummy macarons to boot
Very tasty. And their macarons is not that dry as what most macarons I had before. The gelato is soooo delicious too.
Super clean, France-inspired, macaroon-specialized cafe. Delicious
Made FRESH daily Macarons!!! Simply delightful and delicious!
Uhhhh so apparently I have lived next to a really good macaroon shop and pastry shop for the last year. During the last year, I have learned how to bake all sorts of French pastries because my husband loves them and we couldnt find any good pastry shops....Sigh.Facepalm.So we finally made the trek out (by trek I mean a 5 minute walk) and ended up here. Holy smokes it makes an impression when you enter. It feels like you walked out of the ghetto into some upscale European museum designed by Apple (pure white everywhere). There are beautiful, large croissants and giant quiches filled with different flavors, in addition to substantial salad options and decadent-looking sandwiches. And then there are beautiful rows and columns of macaroons in pastel colors. We got a fig and blue cheese quiche (these arent dainty nor small - they are pretty massive as quiches go) and a chocolate croissant, in addition to two coffees (come with free ice cream bites that are covered in a chocolate hard shell - like a very fancy 1000X better klondike bite), and two macarons (almond amaretto and rose lychee).Quiche had a buttery crust and was extremely filling. The croissant was buttery, flakey and perfect - chocolate inside was definitely a dark chocolate. The choco-marshmallow ice cream bite was uh-mazing (much better than the italian pistachio but I think thats a matter of taste), and the macarons were chewy and light (but I fell in love with macarons at Pierre Herme in Paris and I still prefer those). I liked the almond one better and my husband liked the rose one better. Go figure. Will definitely be back.
Very nice staff, wonderful food.
Good food, although a bit pricey
Best dessert options in town.
Great place for coffee and a pastry or lunch.
They are RACIST.Served 2 of my Caucasian friends and didn’t even take any orders from my friend and I who are not Caucasian.
Good macarons but expensive....
Best place in the world for macarons and quiches!
Great chocolate croissants and macarons.
Not really just regular coffee shop
Dont know what your missing
Very nice pastry shop
Honestly didnt love their macarons.
Need to open earlier for breakfast.
Delicious macarons
Excellent service....
Goof food and macrons are to die for
Hidden gem!
Amazing macarons
Nice bakery
Delicious!
Excellent!
Found this place in Yelp and had to check it when visiting SF a few weeks ago. I like the type of places where these holes are on the wall. You order in front, then sit down and they bring out your food. I have studied the menu before
Excellent croissant
