This location is awesome. This place is like a co-working space but they are not a coworking space. All customers are using this space for hourly. They have a special app for using this space but I used Get Croissant App to get a seat in here. It was more easy to use Croissant. I didnt give my personal information to them. Super nice comfy space. Good internet speed.
Great idea to create a cafe where you can pay $3 an hour to use wifi and power, without the obligation to drink coffee or eat - but making it so easy to order off the app if you want to.I was waiting for someone to ask me if I checked in to the toilet when I went but luckily that wasn’t being monitored like all the seats 🤣Jokes aside, staff are helpful and enthusiastic about the early stages of this venture and how it needs to grow and learn - but it’s already 90% there from as far as I can tell!
Horrible place. Horrible coffee. If youre looking for a normal, cozy, working space with nice coffee DO NOT COME HERE! They charge for most of the space, and on the tables that dont cost, you cannot even use your laptop. Horrible idea. Wasted my time and money. Staff is not friendly at all. Very cold environment. I cant explain enough how much I disliked this coffee place...
Workshop Cafeis to the right of the bank. The employees were super welcoming, the food was delicious, and the amount of outlets is overkill. As a first timer I had to understand certain things. You have to sign into your area, if you have an iphone they have an app for that but not for Android, it will be a web browser site. You make an account on the iPad, then you get 3 hours for free, they do have a promotional of 2 hours for 6 dollars which is worth it because originally you have to pay 13 for 4 hours. The wifi connection is going to be solid where ever you are. You can order food from your seat and they bring it over to you. Try the gochujang bowl and the southwestern bowl since they are super good. The picture I took doesnt do justice on how big this place is, their is 2 other open spaces that actually make you feel that you are in a private space.
Cool experience. Large variety of seating. Took me some time to find my favorite spot. The area where you can plug into their large monitors is amazing if youre a coder. You can order food and drinks right from their app and they will serve it to you at your seat. No need to interact with a human! Only critique is that the mens restroom can use a bit of a renovation and perhaps an additional toilet. Work makes people drink coffee and coffee makes people use the restroom.
My first time there today. Overall a good experience. They give you the first 3 hours for free. Definitely worth trying. The food looked good too. The staff is nice too. I left an iPhone cable and folder by mistake. Called them an hour later and Darren had picked it up for me. I just went back and collected it from him. Two thumbs up.
I dont know that there could be a more San Francisco Tech Scene sort of cafe unless you went to the other locations. The inside is great - the seats are comfortable, the service is excellent and the people watching is great. I really enjoyed the menu options and loved that I literally could order from my phone and then have it brought directly to my seat. LOVE!
This is an exclusive cafe where if you want to use your laptop you have to be in the paid area. They do give you your first 10 hours for free. After that, they charge. You can order through the online portal, and theyll bring you coffee/food to your seat number, which is convenient.Id agree with others that this place can be strict about their rules yet the rules arent obvious. Keep in mind that the rest of the clientele also pay to be there. So, I feel that Im less on edge about my stuff being stolen. The staff will quickly escort people out.Personally, I enjoy working and studying here. Great place to really focus. They have good background music playing. Its a very clean cafe, nice service, and comfy seats. Get your first 10 hours free then decide if you want to come back afterwards. I did.
This is a great place for working on your laptop while not getting hungry! I highly recommend if you don’t have a membership for co-working space, and still want the vibe for a coffee shop. Stuffs here are very friendly. Food is delicious. Try southwest bowl!
We were lucky enough to get a private room on short notice for a video conference. The acoustics werent that great and we could hear others outside but it served its purpose nicely. Outlets provided. I had a quick bite after and it was very tasty.
WILL CHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARD WITHOUT TELLING YOUI just wanted to get a cup of coffee and do some work for a couple hours--like Im able to do at any other cafe in SF. I get that this is a co-working cafe, but why is everything is SO UNCLEAR AND CONFUSING?!I order my coffee and look for a place to sit. Theres a gate and an iPad with some vague instructions to put in your phone number. I follow the steps, and enter my info (including my credit card), all while still completely confused by how this entire setup/model even works. Im taken to a landing page where I need to enter a seat number. I walk past the gate, type in a number, and sit down.Next thing I get an email saying that Ive been charge $15!! First off, if youre gonna charge me, make that abundantly clear with a check out button--just like every single purchase made on the internet. Second, if I buy a coffee from your cafe, I expect to be able to sit and do at least some work at no added cost.Im completely fine with paying to do work in a clean space with lots of amenities. That said, make your business model clear to your customers! When I walk in, Im going to treat your cafe like any other in SF; Im going to order a coffee and look for a place to sit. If your cafe deviates from this norm in any way, it needs to be made crystal clear to your customers!
The tables have crumbs and some are sticky. You get your first 3 hours free here then you would have to pay for WiFi to stay. They organized it so that once you claim your spot, the indicator with a number turns green. It is so easy to forget to log out (and I’ve seen an empty table with a green light for 2 hrs I was there) So make sure you are logged out so it doesn’t charge you more than what you stayed for.
Nice shared workspace. I grabbed coffee from next door and was able to walk into the workshop, sit down, seamlessly check in and started plugging away.Clean and quiet space to focus and complete tasks.
Their Quiet Room isnt actually a quiet room. They want you to keep the doors open unless you reserve the entire room and all the sound echos in there. Defeats the purpose of calling it a quiet room. Good for short term. Pretty noisy, so if you dont have sound cancelling headphones, prepare for lots of chatter and background noise.
Very nice place for working, great concept. An environment that makes you productive. You pretty much download the app and order through there. your order is served to your location (make sure you give the right number). You use your phone number to register and the first 10 hours of internet are free with that number. Make sure you log out before you leave.
I can always rely on going to Workshop Cafe if I want dedicated space and time to get work done. You pay for your time there. Their iced coffee is strong which I love. Food is okay.
Great space for work. There are plugs everywhere, food and drinks are good tasting and affordable. The music helps you concentrate. The overall ambience is productive. Will be going there more often.Did I also mention there are monitors that can be used!
I have worked here for 80+ hours and highly recommend it to any entrepreneur on the go. Its easy to fool ourselves into using Starbucks or spending $500+ on a monthly spot. Workshop cafe meets us in the middle with a variable cost that gets me what I need. The only thing left to desire are:-a more regular cleaning of the meeting tables,-an area in which you can make phone calls, and-Ethernet ports
I walk by this place all the time, and I finally got a chance to drop by.Everything about this place is pretty awesome: plenty of outlets, good amount of seating, decent tea, nice decor, and good music. You pay $2/hr to sit in the paid area (80% of space), which gives you access to power ports and wifi. First 10 hours are free. Otherwise, you can sit in the free area outside or inside next to the door. Its a great place to study and get some work done, so Im sure Ill be dropping by much more often in the future. You can bring in food from outside, and they also have a concierge to help order food or give you a power cable if you forgot yours.
Keep in mind. Its not a cafe like Starbucks you can stay there forever with just a cup of java. You have to pay for your space. I liked it. No need to search around open table.
I like this place. Its nice to have a place thats not just a cafe where people are just hanging out, but where everyone around you is engaged in doing their own thing and its explicitly designed for that purpose with lots of power outlets and plenty of different seating options (tables of various sizes, counters, booths, couches, even a white boarding area). Lots of thought and love obviously went into the place. It gives off a nice vibe and is a good change up from being in the office. Definitely would be super convenient for someone in downtown for a meeting and it didnt make any sense to head back into the office. And the best part is, unlike the office, nobody will bother you with questions and interrupt you so you can focus and get stuff done (which is not always the case if you work remote from home).Sadly you do get a few yahoos who dont seem to get the point/ethos of the place and will have long and loud conversations as if they were just at another cafe, or someone who is constantly on the phone, again, loudly -- there was even a guy conducting a job interview once -- all blissfully oblivious that they were kind of being distractions and no one else around them was engaged in such activity. But the good news is that this isnt the norm and you can usually move about to get away from such folk. I just wish the concierge staff, who are very kind and good about providing power adapters and bringing food to your table, would do a little bit of oversight and at least quietly suggest to these people there are other venues more appropriate for what theyre doing. The food is tasty too.
I like this place a lot. Clean with great food and drink options and lots of seating. Great WiFi, and cool implementation of technology along with chill music. Overall, a cool, tech savvy cafe aimed towards students and those coming from work. When I used to work in the city Id stop by on a daily basis to unwind, have a drink, and study for classes.I still stop by whenever Im in San Francisco, and Im always very happy with the service and products Ive received. Unfortunately the place is rather expensive, and since I usually check in since my visits tend to last a couple hours while I get some work done; purchasing hours really adds up. Also while the workspace has lots of outlets, the free space has none. Usually this isnt an issue, but at times it would be nice to have one or two extra.
Workshop has been my go-to working cafe for years. Their breakfast burrito is superb, and their coffee is pretty good too. Their music is usually great, which is unusual for cafes in general.Highly recommended.
Workshop Cafe is a co-working space that charges per hour. They have some good coffee and a few table seats for non-co-working people, who just want to sit and have a cup of coffee. I like the staff, they are super friendly and nice. Its a popular space, so be warned ahead of time and bring headphones.
This place is not what it used to be. Bottom line it is billed as a place to work (it is even in the name) yet the music is more appropriate for a bar (or sex club). And the type of music is not even the worst part. It is that the volume is way too loud. In the past I was able to hold conference calls while working here. I can no longer do that because my clients can hear the thumping music. And even THAT is not the worst thing about this place. It is that management is not willing to do anything about it. I spoke to two employees (both which said they were nto fans of the music themselves) who said that they are NOT allowed to do anything about the music, even though several customers have made the same complaints. It was a great place to work. Now its a great dance bar.
I really love the concept of the place. Went twice to enjoy the 10 first free hours, and 1 or 2 coffees, which are good. Though its a place where you come to work, and the upbeat loud music help my decision to keep going to a random cafe where the atmosphere is better to focus.
Such a good idea... but not for temporary visitors so much. You can still use the free wifi but not your laptop. You can only use your laptop if you pay to go into the main workspace... And you need to pay a minimum $20 to sign up if youre not American. Fair one. If I was American I would use this place all the time, very cool!
This is a neat space. It has different environments to work from. Booths, couches, counters, etc etc. They even have a quiet room. I sat on the open space and was worried about the noise but I was able to focus very well. Food is good if a bit expensive. The first 10hours in the working space are FREE! They also have space to just have coffee and hangout if you dont want to use the working space.
This spot was amazing when I was in SF and desperately in need of somewhere to work (coffee shops are seemingly always crowded and coworking spaces are open during normal business hours and super expensive!) I’ll definitely be back when I’m in San Francisco.
I come here the few times I have to go into the city. The service is friendly. The breakfast burritos are delicious. Ask for the avocado tomatillo salsa. There is also a separate quiet area to sit in if you need to work on your tablet or laptop. They have plenty of power jacks and wireless.
Good place to read and do work on your laptop. Easy transactions and interesting format. Good coffee and reasonably priced. Quickly becoming a favorite.
I come here when Im on this side of town. It has great stumptown coffee - keeps me coming back!!! The staff are friendly and happy, the food is delicious and healthy, I love it. It is great for a leisurely lunch. Service is not fast, so dont come if youre in a rush. Or take advantage of the work spaces they have available for rent and eat while you work.
No complaints here. They go out of their way to make this a comfortable and enjoyable place to work. $2/hr after 10 free hours seems like a fair (if not generous) price plan too. It can get a bit crowded if youre hoping to sit with multiple other people so come early if thats the case.
This is a consistent place to work for a couple hours. The app system can be a little tricky to figure out, but it works well and the 10 free hours are more than enough to get a feel for the place. The lunch options could be better, but the coffee and breakfast make it worth getting an early start on the day.
Always love going to Workshop Cafe. The menu has a good variety of food available and the prices are reasonable. I love that you can buy hours and work as much as you want without worrying about having to buy coffee refills to justify your presence there. Service is prompt and friendly, and I love the easypay option.
The ambience, utility, and food was great. You can work here and grab food and drink (including alcohol). Youll also be surrounded by others hard at work. My only gripe is that the mobile app wasnt very user friendly. I ended up going to the front desk several times and they had to come find me a few times, too.
Great workspace! First 10 hours free to use. With an hourly pay later on. Totally recommended if you want to spend a few quiet hours working in the Bay!
Great idea! Love all the technology used in running this space. Wish you guys were open later though!
Cool place to hangout and get some work done. People are nice and chill. Staff is very helpful. Drink and good prices are reasonable.
Although you buy coffee you are ask to pay to stay inside which I find to be ridiculous. There are better places in the city where you can sip coffee and work without getting harassed. Definitely not worth coming to this placeEdit:This place is a cool environment to work. They just do a terrible job marketing that it is a place where you pay to have some allocated time to work and which happens to have a cafe. Instead of just appearing as a cafe.
Great coffee here and a nice spot to get some work done if your away from the office and in the city. It gets pretty busy out front but if you pay the nominal fee to rent some space out back you can get a decent amount of space, your head down and get some work done. Its also a great place for a business meeting if you take some space in the back.
Great place to eat. Food was awesome. I had the avo scramble. A healthy option at a reasonable price and tastes great. I fee ill like as soon as you say healthy food option the price doubles. Not here
Great place to work for a few hours with a small group. Im super glad this place exists because I couldnt get a library room. The coffee is pretty great too.
This place used to be a great place to get some work done that requires a fast reliable Wi-Fi connection. Plenty of spots with outlets to plug your tech into everywhere. Unfortunately, Ive watched the costs go up while the service and product goes down year after year. It used to have really good food and coffee but the last few times Ive come in have been not so good. They also obviously crank the music up to entice you to pay extra for their private rooms. There are at least 4 other coffee spots within a block radius but this one offers the most amenities.
Good coffee and food options. Hosted an off-site work day here. Private room had all we need to have a productive day.
My favorite coworking space in town. Have recommended you to several people and all loved it. Please continue doing your great job!
For a week working remotely from SF, this place was an answer to my prayers. I could easily sit here for 11 hours and have breakfast, lunch, and dinner served with a quick text and an open tab. Really friendly staff, good food, and good wifi. Would have been more fun actually exploring the city, but this place met all of my needs!
Dont quite get the concept of paying money to sit down and work even after you pay for your coffee or food. Though they give you first 10 hrs free. However, the concept seemed to be working well and quite a good number of people were there. Overall clean, nice with good staff. As long as you are ok with their policy, this is a good place to srop by over a drink and work on your laptop.
This place is my go to on this street for a good cup of coffee and a beautiful place to get some work done. Last time there I had the avocado toast with fried capers. Everything is a bit steep on the price but that can be said about everywhere in the FiDi neighborhood.
Great idea, awesome location (right near Montgomery BART) and a nice place to work if you need to now & again in downtown SF (or just want to meet up w/someone downtown). If you are working downtown all the time, though, it may be better to just get a co-working space someplace else.$2/hr to use their wifi and power outlets, unless you snag one of the limited free seats by the entrance (no power) or sit outside (hard to do when its windy!). Staff are nice, main issue is it can get really crowded on weekdays now.
Seems like a cool work hangout spot, bit there doesnt seem to be a good vibe with the coffee setup. There were also a lot of flies buzzing around the pastries when I went in briefly. I ended up getting a coffee but it was bland and mediocre. the coffee bar across the street is much better. this place seems more for trendy hipsters followers who have no discerning taste buds.
Ive been coning to this place periodically for about 2 years now. I LOVE it! Its a super convenient place to stop and get done work done while having great food.
Good food and good service but if you want to sit down and its already busy they make you pay to enter a work spaceStupid idea.
The perfect place to get some work done. Nice music, atmosphere and food. It helped me finish my work while visiting SF. I wish they had one in my town.
Ive been here a few times. Its a great space and environment for socializing or working solo. One of my Weave connections recommended it soon after I arrived in the Bay Area and I now recommend it for networking chats.
This is a coworking space in FiDi.There are monitors that you can plug your laptop into if you want extra scren real estate and there are either booths or communal tables that you can work at.The upside to this space is that you have more reliability than a cafe -- e.g. you get the plugs you need, monitors, a business crowd, etc. but I wasnt extra-impressed by the space. Fairly standard co-working space.
It’s got a cool vibe. It was my first time going there. They have instructions how to register to use the cafe when you go in. It could be a bit overwhelming at first, but I guess you get used to it if you go often enough. Good coffee though. Seats are a little beat up. But if you’re looking for fast internet, this is the spot.
A great place to get some work done in downtown San Francisco. You actually have to pay 2$/hr to stay here, but as a result there is no pressure to order something. Wifi is fast and reliable, people are calm. Theres a free quarter by the entrance and a terrace where you can also camp with your laptop.
Clean workspace with ample seating. I always come here when I need a place to get a few hours of work done. The Wi-Fi is pretty good as well, I have never had a problem with it. I also love their coffee drinks, and they have a pretty good food selection. I would recommend this place.
Great atmosphere. Friendly service. Great fruit and yogurt parfait. Missing 1 star because their drip coffee isnt fresh, hot, or even good. Stumptown coffee is normally pretty good.
Harassed by rude management. We were told at the counter that they offer 10 hours free at their work space, so we paid for several drinks. We were unable to get any work done. We were interrupted a dozen times by an incredibly rude manager, who demanded payment of $4 per hour, because their free 10 hour app was unavailable on android. He took our credit card, charged it, and even then denied service and asked us to work in the freezing patio. We had to leave without finishing our drinks and without getting any work done. I doubt this business will survive. We went to the nearby Nespresso. Elegant and respectful ambience, and we can actually get some work done.
A great idea that probably only works in very specific places: Pay-for-a-spot Internet cafe. I cant speak for all of the food being only par, but the breakfast tacos are to be passed on. You dont go there for the food, you go for an easy cafe working environment. With the first 10 hours free, the workshop cafe satisfies that need quite well.
Probably, the best place in San Francisco to have a great coffee and work. Great service, good prices and quality. Simply amazing.
I really liked the vibe of the place and the set up. my ginger lemongrass tea was also pretty great.Cant help but feel that the paid seating is a little problematic, though. It introduces a weird vibe between the people in the paid seating area, and them people not in that area.
If you need to get your work done this is the right place. It is kind of co-working space and cafe bar at same time. You need to login with your phone number and select seat. You start with 10 free hours. What is great is that you order everything thru their web-app and you dont need to wait in line or look for a waiter just click few time and everything will get to you! So SF.
Food is completely different from when they first opened. Horrible, expensive, small portions, pre-made meal that they warm up in the microwave. Hourly internet prices go up every quarter and the internet is better at the Uno Dos taco joint about 2 blocks down the street. Better food there too. I will not be returning and will forfeit leftover hours of pre paid internet that I will not use..no refunds so be careful. It auto loads without notifying you.
Great spot to get work done and people-watch at the same time. Basic food, and the service can be a bit slow... but it is a life-saver if you need a simple place to kill time in downtown SF.
The pour over was really good! Also loved the aesthetics of the place. Bright colours, exposed bulbs, exposed beams and pipes, high ceilings.
We rented out a space for a small team offsite (4 people) and it was perfect. Easy to rent online, affordable, great menu (food is delivered to the room), white board markers included... everything we needed for a successful morning.
Great spot for getting some work done in a relatively quiet space. The food is surprisingly good. Open late which is a plus!
Great for working! You can rent a desk from $3/hr. Also have delicious food and coffee which the waiters will bring to your desk.
Stumptown coffee is so good and this is the only place I know of in SF that offers it. The cafe as a workshop is OK. If you pay to use the working space it might be better, but theres not a whole lot of room and it gets pretty busy. Outside is nice but noisy, so not great for working.
Great place to work and the free hours in the workspace are quite generous to get you started. Coffee is solid and food is fine, though itd be great if the menu was a little less premade and wasnt so reliant on disposable servingware.
10 hours free then $2/hour is great if you only want to work there for a few hours. Great service. The coffee could be better but its okay.
Nice atmosphere, but apparently you cant just walk and order some food. The workers just stared at me while I waited to be served, didnt get served just walked away. lol.
A great place to hang out and wait for people in downtown area. Cafe is not bad. I ordered a cold brew ~ will try other stuff next time.
Coffee was good for the US. Food simple but good value. Service was slow which would be OK if you could sit and wait for your name to be called instead of waiting around the counter. I would like to give a half star
Great coffee by Stumptown and even better as a place t work at.They charge $2 per hour which takes away some guilt of spending hours at coffee shops.Plenty of power outlets available and you can even rent power chargers for your Mac.Service was good overall but the food was just okay.
Conversation friendly with laptop free tables and an area that is dedicated to laptops. Food is good and worth trying.
This is a worthless place. You can order a coffee with a foreign credit card but you arent authorized to work in the place with the same credit card (due to verification issues).Just unbelievable how they happily accept your card to receive their coffee revenue, but dont accept it to provide you access to their working space. If you want a place where you pay for a coffee but then end up working at their sidewalk, then you should go there.
The business model here seems to be centered around being a part-time office, allowing for hourly use and memberships. The place is comfortable, but not so much if you arent planning on sticking around. The coffee drinks themselves were just okay. Friendly service, though.
Very good place to get some work done. You can just order drinks or food through the app and they will bring it to you. Internet is always excellent.
