We used to love their thick and rich European style hot chocolate. However, unfortunately, it seems that after the pandemic they have stopped serving the hot chocolates in this location anymore. I think they still have that in the Mission store, but Mission is definitely not comparable to the Ferry Building in the downtown SF. So I wish they bring back those thick and rich hot chocolate soon.
Best..... Hot..... Chocolate!!! Sipping as I write, and have to pause to enjoy. They have tons of chocolate with bite size samples. They have a few small treats like the brownie bite flight which has three different brownies to try and compare (such a great idea for all your chocolate connoisseurs out there!). They have a Cookbook as well to give you inspiration for all the chocolate creations you can make with their chefs chocolate. Highly recommend a stop here.
This location of Dandelion has their bars and a smaller amount of their baked goods, as well as their hot chocolate drinks. Good chocolate, pleasant cashiers. This muffin was particularly lovely, I wouldnt have thought lemon and chocolate together but the balance in this was perfect. Not too much chocolate, not too much lemon or almond.
I am not a big fan of most Ferry Building establishments. One standout exception to this is Dandelion Chocolate. It hits all the notes: kind and professional service, amazing products to buy and take home (or give as gifts), and just delightful hot chocolate! How good is the hot chocolate? It is so good that I readily pass up the adjacent Blue Bottle Coffee (which I love) for a cup of their hot chocolate.Their whole roasted cacao beans are also very delicious, and versatile in cooking. We make sure we keep a steady supply of them at home.
The lady kept working on her laptop and didn’t even greet us. She didn’t even stand up to help us out with selections.
I had heard about this Chocolatier when I was visiting Chocxo Bean to Bar Chocolate Factory in Irvine, it was one of the last excursions I took while still living in Southern California and it was by sheer fluke, that I found out about Dandelion Chocolates store being in the Ferry Building. In fact, had it not been for Dandelion Chocolates being in the Ferry Building, I never would have wanted to visit the Ferry Building.I wasnt told the location at the Ferry Building was a hot chocolate stand, but once I found out, I was even more excited, whoo, lucky me! For those people who really know me, I love hot chocolate (hot chocolate with marshmallows, hot chocolate with whipped cream, and now frozen hot chocolate), it doesnt even matter what the weather temperature is.I was excited to finally visit Dandelion Chocolate, Hot Chocolate Stand or not, and once I researched the Ferry Building and what it was about, I found other places I wanted to visit. After walking through the main hall of the Ferry Building, I located the Dandelion Chocolate Hot Chocolate Stand in a corner spot on the outside of the Ferry Building. It was a cute little corner space, and it was perfect. At the suggestion of the friendly and knowledgeable girl behind the counter/ordering glass. I tried some of their chocolate they had available for customers to sample, then I ended up ordering the Frozen Hot Chocolate, I had been eyeing it on online. It was either the Frozen Hot Chocolate or the Horchata (Santa Ana Memories!), but I went with the Frozen Hot Chocolate.Oh my goodness! it was oh so very delicious, rich, creamy and quite refreshing. The weather temperature in the city was moderate the day I went, I was able to sit in the shade with a slight wind and not feel cold, surprisingly. There is a small counter area if you choose to sit in the corner space of Dandelion Chocolate, but there are only about 5 bar stools available.I did think the cost of the Frozen Hot Chocolate for its size was a tad on the high side, $5.75. But being in the Ferry Building and in San Francisco, Im sure the rent is high. Visiting this Hot Chocolate Stand will definitely be a special treat for me. But I would love to return and try other items on their menu, there were so many other items that I wanted to try.Dandelion Chocolate Hot Chocolate Stand, is located on the outside of the Ferry Building. Outside the doors near Humphrey Slocombe Ice Cream Shop.
This was a special experience of chocolate tasting (there are free samples) and enjoying the nuances of chocolate from different regions of the world. Their chocolate is made from only cacao and sugar, and the hot drinking chocolate (marshmallow included) was a top quality I had never experienced before. We almost passed it by, but a local buying her beverage encouraged us to try the samples, and I’m so glad we listened to her! I appreciated the kind customer service, too.
As long as you aren’t looking to see Chocolate in the process of being made, this location is as good as the Valencia location. The staff was helpful, the samples were plentiful, and there were the usual made-to-order chocolate treats available. The prices are the same as other locations and the venue is pleasantly lit. The surrounding stalls make this location worth checking out when in the area.
The hot chocolate was delicious. It was smooth and all the ingredients melded together perfectly. This seemingly being a tricky thing to accomplish for some dairy free drink makers. Even the temperature was perfect. This location had a limited selection of delectables made with a dairy alternative. I appreciate the option. I discovered that other locations have more opportunities to try items dairy free.
The best European Hot chocolate in San Francisco.Great value with reasonable price. Thanks guys!
I had them make a hot chocolate chai for me, and it’s amazing!!! It should be on the menu! They have a great selections of chocolates from different areas of the world. Nice collections and different flavor profile. I have the hot chocolate, and it is bright and semi sweet, very flowery, very unique.
Surprisingly, my frozen hot chocolate was poorly made. Where did my cocoa nib infused whipped cream go? My drink tasted weak / off and it was nowhere near frozen. I was too tired and thirsty to send it back, but I regret it not doing so. I am truly happy to see Dandelion Chocolate thriving, but please dont forget about quality control. Such a disappointing moment for a loyal customer to experience.Update: I sent the company an email, but have not heard back from them. Will never return to this establishment.
Súper delicious 😋 but .... it was a bit to rich the normal hot chocolate but was still tasty but the day I went I was disappointed ☹️ because they had ran out of marshmallows and I didn’t get to t try it but over all the staff is super nice and welcoming
Awesome marshmallow with chocolate and good chocolate. It was paired good with bourbon
Best Chocolate
I Really hope I get to visit this place again because I would love to try something else on my next visit. While I was certainly more than excited about their wall of chocolate samples, the chocolate canele didnt quite scratch my chocolate itch. Now, dont get me wrong. The canele was beautifully done. But I found that I appreciated it as I appreciate fine art. I see the craftsmanship and delicacy, but it didnt excite when it comes to having a chocolate experience. It falls more in the world of a beautiful pastry instead in providing the chocolate-y indulgence that I crave. While it was beautifully moist and light, it didnt have the level of sweetness that this crazy girl needs. But I would encourage anyone to visit because this is a fantastic place and I really respect their dedication to making such exquisite food.
Among the best chocolate in the world, and now serving Ritual coffee. Perfect combination. So, so, so glad they switched to Ritual beans. My favorite coffee in SF.
We had the worst customer service experience here and the house hot chocolate tasted absolutely disgusting.
Best chocolate ever, vegan friendly hot chocolates, what more can you ask for from life?
Itss a good place to get your dark chocolate, and the yummy cookies are a bonus. Minus one star, the chocolates are a bit too sweet for me.
Might be the best chocolate in San Francisco. If you like things a bit on the spicy side, try the Mission Hot Chocolate--or the Mission Mocha, if you need a little caffeine with your chocolate.
I had an amassing hot chocolate here, spicy and with a bit of crispy chocolate on top, possibly the best I had so far. Quite looking forward to come back.
Awesome chocolatier! The nib toffee and smore were heavenly.
Delicious take on horcata
Amazing!! No other words necessary.
Nice hot chocolate
Single sourced sustainable and delicious
Best.
Delicious all the way
Good
Good chocolate
Yummy!
It will be a branch of a store in the mission area. We recommend the unique chocolate made from the particular cacao. You can enjoy the rich cacao flavor of any chocolate. I am very grateful for the taste that is not too sweet, and it goes well with coffee. There is no cafe space at this shop. Smore is baked with a burner after ordering, and it is put in a take-out box, so it is also useful as a souvenir to bring with other baked goods such as canelé.
Classic hot chocolate is very delicious, not too sweet, the clerk is very nice
Dark chocolate shop. It has a variety of flavors, so you can try it as you like and pick it up to your liking.
Multi-flavored chocolate drink.
