If International Spy Shop tries to sell you anything, dont walk, but instead run for the hills. Im now taking action against this rotten apple through Consumer Action and a report of consumer fraud through the Consumer Protection Division of the District Attorneys Office, because Im entitled to a refund.On Oct. 11, 2021, an employee named Tony sold me a covert keychain camera (camera) for my nephew for $304.14. Little did I expect either the degree of dishonesty that was present in this transaction or his refusal the next day to refund my money for the defective camera, upon presentation of the sales receipt and contrary to what California commercial law allows.First, the camera was proved defective, not just by yours truly, but by Tony himself the following day. The camera is defective because a non-defective camera is one that the buyer can make work by following the instructions without having to resort to guesswork, is one whose contents are accessible on a computer with the USB cable provided, and is one whose video functions as described in the sales transaction. Thus, the buyer, was entitled under section 2601of Californias Commercial Code to (a) Reject the whole and to obtain other remedies under section 2711 in addition to recovering so much of the price as has been paid. On the date of purchase, Tony reassured me that the video was high quality, since he reassured me this isnt like one of those cameras you buy on Amazon, its much better quality. He also stated that each camera was pre-tested by the store. But, even in fully lighted conditions, the video appears dark and green and blue at random places.Further, Tony stated that to operate the camera you just have to follow the instructions. But the videorecording I fortunately took, just in case, shows Tony himself saying hell check whether the camera operates according to the instruction manual, before he fails completely when he actually tries to follow the instructions. Dishonestly, to boot, because after that failure, he alleges hes following the instructions but then I call him out on that lie, since Ive spotted that hes actually ignoring the instructions and has only managed to operate the camera by pressing a combination of buttons that is different from that which the instructions indicate. His dishonest tactic didnt get him too far, however, because my video recording shows him proceeding to link up the camera to the stores computer via the USB cable included with the camera, but to no avail, i.e. the cameras video remained undetected and inaccessible on the computer. So much for pre-testing.Second, California law does not permit the return policy Tony stated on the day I tried to return the camera. On the purchase date, Tony had reassured me I could return the camera in the next seven days and after that they would refer me to the manufacturer. But on the following day, when I tried to return the camera, Tony stated that the return policy was that all sales are final. According to the California Attorney General, retailers that wont give a full refund or credit within seven days of purchase when goods are returned with a receipt, must clearly display their policy at each cash register and sales counter, or at each public entrance . . . If a store violates this law (California Civil Code section 1723) by not clearly displaying their limited or no return policy, you can return the purchased item with proof of purchase for a full refund within 30 days. None of the above requirements were met for the stated return policys validity. The sole sign in the store near the cash register does not meet the above requirements, because it cannot clearly display the policy when it does not even face the customer as she or he pays, but rather has been carefully angled towards the rear of the store. Also, the requirements are not met because there are no signs with that unusual policy on any of the counters, and the requirement uses the conjunctive AND. Lastly, there is no sign at any entrance.

One star for inaccurate information that I went inside that I thought it open because the open hours on Yelp and Google. Got told to get out of the store.Got here at 10:39 am which it listed open at 10 am. Just I felt so awkward that the staff said no and asked me “Does it look open.” First of all, the door is unlocked. It’s not my fault not knowing it.

Awesome laid back staff in the store. Let you ask a million questions and just fire back info, they knew their stuff. Lots of cool stuff but no pics allowed inside the store but trust me they got some gadgets. These arent gimmicks either although they do carry some things geared towards kids. My only disappointment was that Sterling Archer wasnt there lmao...Great store thanks again

Everything you need to feel like a spy. They have GPS trackers, video pens and so much more! They also take great steps to protect their customers from COVID. They give you gloves and take your temperature. A must visit when you visit SF!

This shop is super cool to look around. Theres an infinite quantity of fun gadgets and gadgets to have fun with. Whats more, the workers are super good about allowing individuals to demo things before purchasing and being very helpful and friendly describing how different things work in addition to recommending particular products. Id definitely recommend stopping by in the event that youve got enough time!

This store is super cool to look around. There is an endless amount of fun gadgets and trinkets to play around with. Furthermore, the employees are super good about letting people demo things before buying as well as being very friendly and helpful explaining how different things work as well as recommending specific products. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you have the time!

Another one of San Francisco finest stoors, they have the most amazing spyware I have ever seen. Just love this shop. From small to top of the range products, go see for yourself. Very close to fishermans wharf. No pictures, because your not allowed to take any in the shop. Recommended.

What a fun store to visit! They seriously have something for everyone. There is a huge price range as well. You could definitely spend quite a few minutes in here looking at all the gadgets!

Best experience ever!!! I cant say what we bought because that would ruin the spy experience but we bought such cool stuff!!!! They also have a SWAT simulation experience that was unreal!! Tony was amazing giving us tips and really giving us feedback on how to protect ourselves. My parents loved it!!!! Cant wait to come back!!

This is a very interesting shop with a very, very large supply of equipment. They have everything from the simple household stuff to advanced technology that you could barely even imagine. The staff is very polite and helpful in picking out what to get and answering any questions about the equipment.

Tony was very helpful & welcoming. My girlfriend left her ID in the car & instead of making us walk all the way back to the car he said 1 ID is fine. Tony had a lot of knowledge with the guns we chose to fire & helped us how to properly hold each fire arms. Was an incredible experience. Definitely would go back & fire some more different types of guns.

Tony was just perfect for my very first experience holding and shooting a gun. He explained all the options for fun/serious practice and/or games very clearly. Tony was also very friendly, gracious and patient with me, and his staying with me when no other customers were in the store made a big difference because I was able to ask further questions. Im thrilled with this experience and feel informed and equipped enough to know how to hold and use a gun for my self defence if necessary in the future. I cant recommend Tony highly enough. Anne

My daughter had great fun shooting the guns. We tried both the m16 and the pistol. The m16 on full blast was great. The owner was very patient and showed my 11 yr old girl gun safety and how to shoot the gun properly. My girl had a blast and we would definitely come back again if we are in the area!

This is an awesome shop, tonnes of great gadgets. My son bought a solid butterfly knife/comb to practice legally without actually having a knife. We also had a great time shooting the M4 and an automatic handgun. This is a great shop and Tony gives great service!

We have been in here before, it is a fun shop to walk around in. We opted for the shooting range in the back. You use a electronic weapon and point to a large projection screen. We went with Wild West, where you warm up with bottles on a fence, then a fast draw, and then try to hit bad guys that pop up from behind things. If you are a fair shot, then this is a blast. Otherwise, you would get shot and “try again”. The price can be steep depending on your options, but it is a fun novelty.

If you ever want to be a double OO agent this is the store for you. Some pretty cool products sold here from pen cameras to stun guns and BB guns. Its a shame I cant take any of this stuff back to Australia 😭

This place is great and we both had a lot of fun. We were able to use their air soft range with Hosu as our guide and with the realistic m4 it was just like shooting a real weapon but a lot safer. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, especially if youre interested in spy gear. Id highly recommend picking up a soda can safe here as its very practical and priced well.

Cool place to stop in and browse. A little pricey, but has some cool stuff to buy and some historical gear. Staff showed us how to get out of hand cuffs and you can pay to watch a lock picking class.

Awesome experience. Tony guided my daughter and I through shooting the m4 air soft rifles and we had a blast shooting the targets. My 11 year old daughter says totally and completely awesome

I have not seen many spy shops in all of the states that I have traveled to but this one was really fun to pour through. If I had real money, I would definitely be interested in buying some of the gadgets here to keep my home safe. Im not interested in any of the weapons except maybe to hang on my wall.

Way over priced and full of the cheapest manufactured junk and gag toys. Friendly service and a few diamonds in the rough but overall you can find the same stuff online. Fun to come and look though!

Tony was a very professional and fun help. The shop has full of effective spy gear and very fun experience at the shooting range. Great prices for the product and quality. The M9 was my favorite full auto and semi hell alot of fun.

I was there a few weeks ago on vacation with my family and my 10 year old son. I bought him a session with the air gun ($40, which was fine) and bought him a $25 kid-safe butterfly comb. Within 2 hours, one of the two metal prongs fell off which keeps the comb in place. I took it back and the older gentleman who appeared to be the manager (50s, glasses, balding with pony tail) flat out said he would NOT exchange it for a new one. He pointed to a piece of paper he has taped to the counter which he says all sales are final.I told him he sold me a defective product. He very rudely denied it was defective, he accused my son of over using it (even though it was only 2 hours) and even ridiculously alleged that we perhaps dropped it on the floor. All this happened in front of my son. I told my son that there are some very unethical people out there.Ill NEVER shop there again and Ill continue to pass this story to as many people as I can. I told this to the hotel staff and they couldnt believe it either. They said they would not be recommending this business to their customers.

I have to say I’ve visited this wonderful store, as a conservative stuck in a city that is not conservative this was a wonderful place to visit please give them business because the liberal folks around them will not. Tony is the best host, the simulator was great, he was a fun host too, helped encourage us during the zombie fight. You have to come do this if you ever come to San Francisco. I bought some great knives too for my friends.

Its a cool place to visit, and its fun to use their air soft guns. If youre a tourist, you should check it out. If youre a local.. well, you can still check it out but there are other places to get pepper spray at a better price.

The spy shop at San Francisco was great! Tony was very friendly and helpful with the shooting range. The range was easy to use and comfortable with 6 people. Highly recommend!

Lots of gadgets and interesting out of the norm toys. One thing I will say is that they advise to sell Airsoft gear and it is extremely limited. They have a few guns, but as for bbs, they only carry .20 and .11 gram bbs and they are hilariously overpriced. Other than that, they have quite the setup.

Got a really neat lock picking set, which will be handy as we are forever losing keys. Some of their products were kind of geeky, but it was fun and different from the norm in a tourist centered marketplace.

My son had never visited a spy shop before so this was a real treat for him.When we found out there was an Airsoft firing range within the store, well, we had to try it. We started with a 300-shots with an M4 rifle and then tried 100 shots with a pistol. What a blast!The store had a great selection of spyware and other very interesting goods. Well worth the visit.

This place is so much fun! I didnt buy anything but wanted to buy half the store haha...they have airguns you can test shoot, side mirrored spy sunglasses 😎 that let you see someone sneaking up from behind or if you happen to need to be watching someone inconspicuously nearby. Haha. They have small safes for storage of valuables that LOOK like a can of beens and other common household items which a robber is less likely to discover much less be looking for. The list of fun items is enough to write pages and pages of reviews but Ill just let you discover those when you go to this gem of a spot for yourself!

Cool place to stop by. They have lots of cool items for sale. Was able to grab breakfast at the IHOP, then walk down the street to the store.
