This is hands down the best bike shop you will ever go to. The staff is very knowledgable, patient, and will happily answer any question. The mechanics are top notch. My bike ofter comes back like new...sometimes even better. These guys know their stuff.

He worked with us to customize the bike for our budget and needs. He was super patient and knowledgeable. I would strongly recommend this place for all this E- bike related!

Theyre knowledgable, have a broad selection, and are generally just kind, helpful people through and through.I was e-bike curious for several years, and it took having a baby and needing to get that baby around town to convince me to dive it. And the New Wheel has been a partner all along. From test drive to configuration to keeping my bike in great working order, theyre the best. Having an expert partner on hand makes all the difference in ownership.Ive recently tried the remote-service system, where they pick up and drop off my bike when I cant make it across town to their shop. Its easy to coordinate and delightful.

I can not be more impressed with The New Wheel. They really know ebikes and have made sure to curate a product offering of really quality bikes and accessories. Ive been soooo happy with my Tern GSD and have completely replaced my car. Couldnt have done it without them.

Located in the heart of the very enjoyable, walkable Bernal Heights neighborhood, this bike shop has a perfect selection and range of bicycles, all neat and orderly and so up to date. I loved the personal attention and knowledge of the staff. They let me lead the conversation and showed me everything I needed to see and know as I was ready. I didnt feel rushed or being given a hard sell. Afterwards, take the time to walk the few blocks of Cortland Street to find gourmet treats and unusual eats.

I was extremely impressed with all my interactions with New Wheel, from getting information through online chat, to test riding by appointment and then purchasing the bike. Truly impressive. I cannot imagine a friendlier bike shop. We bought a Load 60 from them in 2019 and when it was stolen earlier this year, we called and told them about the theft while we put in an order for a replacement. Three months later, their staff saw our stolen bike at an encampment and went and got it for us, then called us and told us the good news. They tuned it up and we are riding it again. That level of support for their customers is just above and beyond, I was speechless. To top it off, they really know their bikes (and locks!) and can walk you through picking the right one for your family or your commute patiently and knowledgeably. We have bought two bikes from them now and are loyal for life. We truly love the New Wheel.

Great place to buy a bike! As a newbie the staff were really great at informing me of my options/things to consider without pressuring me to buy anything! I got to test ride the bikes and found one that I loved but liked the handlebars of another a lot more. They saved the day by ordering the exact handlebars I wanted and installing them on the frame that I loved. I feel like I got my dream bike here, with all the accessories I needed.

We visited the shop and did test rides. Karen and staff were very friendly and helpful. Though we ended up purchasing the bike from another store because they didnt have in stock the model we wanted, I would definitely recommend the New Wheel.

Best place in the city to shop for an e-bike. Great service and a top notch selection of bikes. Spend some time test riding a handful of bikes here and ride it up some of the steepest hills in SF to get a good idea of how great these products are for commuting and getting around the city quickly. After shopping around at a few other bike shops, the amount of education and patience from the staff before making a big purchase is unmatched. Every time I bring my bike in for service, they are very professional and accommodating. Best small business experience in the city. The bikes are great too!

New Wheels e-bikes make all of San Francisco perfectly flat. Their cargo bikes easily accommodate two kids plus groceries. Pricey, yes. But AAA tells us the cost to own a car in SF is at least $7,000 a year, not including parking.Life-changing bikes, excellent customer service, highly recommended.

I just bought used bike and my tires cracked a day later. I had no tools to fix it so I brought my bike here and the tire and tube were changed in 20 minutes on the spot!And they have the most adorable Pomeranian named Olive. 🐶

Before visiting San Francisco I did some research about bike stores /rentals.After reading so many great customer reviews about Karen and Brettsstore The New Wheel I booked a Stromer from Germany.These people obviously love what they do.For nearly one week I rode the bike not only all over the city more than once:-)I went even to the Muir Woods! and made it with ONE battery chargeback to downtown!!Another day I rode over Angel Island. From there went to Tiburon andall the way back to Conzelman Road!I lost one security cable -lock and Karen even didnt charge me for that!Take a spare battery and enjoy unlimited tours throughout your day.I highly recommend this store for excellent customer service and highquality well maintained bikesThank you Karen, Matt, Brett and Dad:-)

Our household upgraded to one (hybrid) car & one (Kalhkoff) ebike, saving about $500/mo compared to our old two-car lifestyle. The folks at New Wheel have been great to work with, and their devotion to quality shows in every aspect of their business.

My girlfriend and I rented electric bicycles from The New Wheel while we were visiting SF one weekend. The staff working there was incredibly helpful as they made sure the bikes fit properly, we had helmets that were properly sized, and even gave us a map with recommended routes and sights to see! Riding the bikes was incredible. They are so quiet you forget that youre on an E-bike -until you hit a hill. Then, suddenly your legs become pistons on unconquerable strength powering past children, the elderly and even self-righteous hipsters on any incline. We rode up Telegraph Hill to Coit Tower with ease, cruised along the Embarcadero in style, and zoomed our way over the Golden Gate and back to the Presidio without breaking a sweat! When we had returned to the store after a full day of biking, we still had about 50% battery remaining, a testament to how efficient and advanced these machines are. If you want to see a beautiful city on a an elegant machine, I cannot recommend a better method.

This place is great. I used to ride lots and lots. Got married, had kid, riding slowed way down to 0. Moved to SF, rode muni for a while. Its ok, but sometimes its horrible. Its just never GREAT!I want more GREAT in my day, so I started biking to work. It was great, but by the time Id get home (I live up a few big hills) Id be totally spent. What I really wanted was the way to control the amount of exercise Id get. Some days, pedal hard. Other days let the bike to the work for you.It seemed like just an idea until I took a few rides at The New Wheel. Their staff is great. Very patient, very knowledgeable, and genuinely want to make sure you are happy with an e-Bike. When I got on the Kalkhoof Sahel, I knew Id buy it right away.Back and forth to work and errands no problem. Up and down, start and stop, longer and shorter - this bike is great for anywhere in the city. I think Ive driven a car like 5 times in the last 3-4 months - that was for cargo, not convenience.Its so cool not having to park, using less fossil fuels, and getting some exercise all at the same time.Long live the #eBike and long live #TheNewWheel

Let me say up front that my overall experience with The New Wheel, and the first-rate bike professionals and owners Brett and Karen, and their excellent bike mechanic/technician SB (for Serious Business) and Karens wonderfully friendly father, Mike, has been more like finding really good friends than finding a really great bicycle shop. They have made me feel totally welcomed and I know that I can trust them to always give me their best in every way when it comes to advice on purchases and service.My experience with The New Wheel began when I made a decision to buy an eBike, an electric powered bicycle. I spent many, many hours doing my research online, to check out all of the options in this field. The bottom line is that there is just a huge amount of information about electric powered bikes out there, and the amount of money I wanted to spend was just $2,000.00. There were so many “good deals” being offered online and in shops in my general area (Sacramento, CA), but I quickly found myself confused and uncertain as to which way to go. I decided that more than anything, I needed to find somebody who was totally knowledgeable about this field that I could trust to put my needs and interests above just making a profit.Well my research led me to believe that The New Wheel and Brett and Karen, in San Francisco, would be just that kind of bike shop with that kind of true Customer Service attitude that is rarely found anymore. I began by speaking with them on the phone and then visiting them in their shop in the middle of Bernal Heights, San Francisco. Brett and Karen, and SB and Mike are just so totally and obviously “good people”, people I felt totally at ease with, that I was totally “sold” on them as people I could have complete confidence in before we even began discussing my desires for an eBike and what would fit my needs.After discussing many different options, and listening to Brett and Karens advice, I finally decided to keep my current bike and have them install a BionX retro-fit motor and battery. There are a number of different options in the BionX line of products, but Brett and Karen carefully and patiently led me through an explanation of all of these options so I could understand which would best suit my needs and price range. I ended choosing the 48 Volt battery, but there were two options for the motor and Brett helped me choose the best option that fit for my riding needs. I ended up paying just over my $2,000.00 goal and I am just absolutely pleased with my new electric powered ride now. I have not had a chance to really test it on long rides because I came down with the flu a few weeks after my purchase. But I have put over 150 miles on it so far and I have been back to their shop for a free break in tune up. I just love visiting their shop, its like visiting good friends.I know that I have found the best bike shop in the state of California, and I am looking forward to a long and happy relationship with The New Wheel and Brett, Karen, SB and Mike. I give them 10 Stars out of 5. Double-Plus Excellent. If you are looking for a new bike or service of any kind, you will be greatly rewarded with a visit to this first class bike shop.
